Oh man, I don't think a video has ever gained a subscription and follow across all platforms from me quite as quickly as this one, what an amazing first episode! I absolutely adore RS3's storyline and questing system, I'm glad you've made the switch over to RS3 (ignore the cash shop and MTX and it's a really great game at its core), and you're in for an absolute treat with the storylines in some of the later quest series. The Sliske, Elder God Wars and Elf series are some of the finest storytelling I've seen across any medium, never mind just an MMO, I can't wait for you to get there. Seeing the long form story telling pay off after 20 years of playing is such an amazing feeling. I realise these videos probably take a long time to both prepare, write, edit and upload but I will be impatiently refreshing my subscription box and checking twitter to catch episode 2 as soon as it releases :) Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see where this series goes in 2025. (Also I realise you guys are on group ironman, BUT if ever you want someone to hang out with in-game give me a shout, modern-day RS3 can be quite solitary at times!)
Wow thank you! We are really looking forward to experiencing it all. Yeah they take maybe 2-4 days depending on our irl work loads. We have one other video being finished for another game this week. Then right back to RS3 so I'd expect later this week. Would love to fill our the friends list a bit more, so let us know your user or message us in game.
I was just telling my husband this week that all I really want is an RS3 version of By Release (and I know J1mmy would never), and here you are! Group Ironman has been so much fun for us so far, I’m excited to follow along.
Hell yeah!!! I will absolutely watch the hell out of this! Super excited for this series, the quests are definitely one of the best aspects of runescape and it's great to see a series that highlights that!
Good job guys, great first episode and glad to have you in the Rs3 community. Many of us will be following your adventures and you are in for some amazing quests that have released since you’ve been away. As a small Rs3 channel who focuses on lore, feel free to check anything out if you’d like. Most of what i’ve done so far is in playlists. Cheers!
Thanks everyone has been really inviting. We are both the story first type player so are really looking forward to getting into more of the new quest lines. Ooo ill check it out.
@ yeah the narratives definitely have gotten more cohesive. You are in for some real treats. Can’t wait to see some of your reactions and thoughts in the commentary
This was amazingly put together. Was super surprised to see only 414 subsribers. You guys are awesome, please don't stop making content! Welcome (back) to runescape :)
I absolutely love this format. I dropped out of rs after eoc. And every time I’ve tried to come back I’ve felt overwhelmed by the decades of new content and story. This series feels like a nice way to learn all that has happened
Thank you! Yeah we definitely feel that there is a lot to learn... I think that's why ironman is so good. You can build up from the start rather then being thrown in near the middle or end.
As someone who is going for a quest cape, and eventually completionism, while simultaneously can't be bothered to read the short novel that is many quest's text log, I really appreciate a series and delivery like this that can give me the highlights and an easily digestible recap of all this nonsense. I hope to see more from you two.
Doing a Group Iron between the two of you really is the best way to enjoy this. I can tell, your minds will blow off in some of the later storylines. Enjoy the ride!
Discovered you guys thanks to a Brighter Shores video you made. This series is perfectly timed because I signed into RS3 just to do the Christmas event, and have ended up deciding I'm going to start playing it. Look forward to seeing how you guys progress!
That's great! Runescape always seems to find a way to drag you back in eventually somehow haha. We dug out our old OSRS accounts for the Christmas event on there which was pretty good too :)
The Story is simple: You get stuff for a cake, then help a monk this causes you to wan tto kill a dragon and then the gods show up and now you are at war with them and then the elder gods show up and the trouble is made double and then this guy plays a game with you and you somehow defeat the gods of the gods and then you built a fort and befriend some gohsts. Also: Penguins.
Oh nice, this is cool. Looking forward to more episodes ^_^ I want to go on this journey myself but I got sucked back into old school cause I want to be caught up for sailing first.
@@772Jordanlanethanks 😊 we've been working hard to find our style over the past month or so. We're both really excited for this series, so great to hear others are too!
You guys have no idea how excited I am to see this series of you two. Similar to you guys, I randomly stumbled into playing RS3 last month after seeing a group ironman video recommended to me after not playing the game for something like a decade, but also still engaging with a lot of Osrs content (really love By Release as well as Alien Foods Unguided series) over time as well. Like you guys, I noticed that the economy is horribly messed up with the cash shop feeling rather overwhelming to me so I too made an ironman (hardcore, but I lost it around 2k total to some wilderness bandits lmao) I will say though, that while I was apprehensive too going into it, I've been having an insane amount of fun playing RS3 even with the new combat system to me but have noticed something rather saddening and that is the lack of sort of...for fun content? Most videos I've seen on TH-cam either are guides or progress videos for accounts rather than content made for the sake of fun or entertainment similar to what Osrs has with its content creations. With this series you two are doing, I really hope to see you guys thrive on this as this is exactly that kind of entertainment for fun not prestige 15 veteran 300b main account kind of content I've been looking for! Hopefully you two enjoy your time playing the game as similar to you guys I'm very new to the game as well (I say as I'm 2.1k total only 2 months in LOL) but still keep it up and I look forward to seeing more in the future! All the love to you two
Lots of word vomit from me previously, but a little more here; just a suggestion or request: If you two are playing together, could you two perhaps do sort of live reactions to the content itself? It will likely require more recording and editing, but seeing people live reacting to this stuff again or talking to solve their way through the quests along with the banter along the way is always really nice to see rather than a fully prerecorded explanation of the quests I suppose? Just a thought is all.
It feels like we've been saying this a lot lately, but we mean it every time - thank you so much for the support. We're honestly loving making these videos and discovering more of RS3 as we go. We've been considering doing streams/VODS of our gameplay, but were more thinking that would be a future thing that people would be interested in once we've got more viewership. But if you're interested in live feedback, its something we will definitely discuss more and consider from your suggestion here :) We're always open to suggestions for what you'd like to see from us, or any ideas on how you think live reaction videos etc could work best!
Thanks! Yeah we've always done it with guides in the past so thought it would be fun to take in all of the story properly and complete the quests and puzzles ourselves for once 😊

I recently (before BS launched) pushed for Quest Cape using the timeline sort method. I loved doing it that way, as it setup pretty defined and clear goals to work towards as well. I actually really enjoyed the story, too, as much as people from OSRS will disagree. Have fun! (This also looks like it popped off, CONGRATS! Keep going!!)
Great episode, instant sub from me! After getting a quest cape on my RS3 main, I've actually also started a timeline order Group Ironman account (although the other members of my group are playing the game normally) so this is very relatable 😅 The early Fifth Age can be a slog but I promise it gets really, really good later on and is absolutely worth it. Cheers!
@Wandering_Wisps Oh, yeah, the game kind of assumes you're caught up to the story and random NPCs will have dialogue about things that haven't happened yet quest-wise. If you're committed to as spoiler-free an experience as possible, I might recommend holding off on training Sixth Age skills like Divination, Archaeology, and Necromancy until you get to the point in the plot where they're introduced. Archaeology in particular is full of walking spoilers.
In terms of general advice, Group Ironmen have access to all of the auras in the game, and some of them are very useful for skill training and PvM, so be sure to take advantage of them. The Jack of Trades aura is really good for XP even if you only do 15-20 of the skills. Doing Daily Challenges will also give you a ton of XP over time.
I'm working on a similar series concept, not quite 'canonical' but explaining and deep diving storyline, down to doing VO's and narration of every quest in the game, without the ability to do skills outside of questing (until otherwise impossible roadblocks of Skill reqs require it). I like the way you 2 are doing this, definitely hope to see more. The storyline of Runescape, especially once you get into the more cohesive questlines, is absolutely amazing. Keep at it, definitely earned a sub :)
@Wandering_Wisps The first episode should be out just after new years. Holiday work's got me backlogged. Which of you does the edited, or do you split the tasks? I don't know if you're aware about EOC 2. They didn't call it that because the name is radioactive, but it was some eight months of focused development based on the decade of mistakes and filling out the slow patching and improvement of the system before. It was so great in beta. The difference from the promise, not the change to fundamentals, made me quit. Now it's extremely freaking good if you are alright with the tick system and are willing to do a bit of reading and arithmetic. It took so long for ability tooltips to say anything about the actual effect at all, but now we've got exact damage ranges, monsters show their armour reduction modifier, channeled ability progress bars, standardization of similar abilities across styles, reduced clutter of basics. It's quite easy to start and not bad to get decent at. The ceiling doesn't exist, Zamorak *(the god)* recently got defeated by a team of 5 at a new record of 520x difficulty setting.
I was thinking it seemed better put together now then waaaay back when we quit. I just assumed years of tweaking it had got it to a better place. Im really looking forward to learning some more for bosses and the like. Whats a good level to start some early bosses?
Thank you! Yeah honestly we are more OSRS players but we feel pretty burnt out from the amount of time we have played. We like RS3 because its familiar but still really fresh and we get to learn lots of new things.
The Runescape timeline is simple: OSRS and RS3 share the same history until year 169 of the 5th age. This is the point of divergence. OSRS never leaves the 5th age, it's an alternate timeline as confirmed by the devs in which Guthix never died. RS3 continues into the 6th age, the "Era of Man" ends with the death of Guthix. Not everyone agrees with the model or concept of a "6th age." There's a lore book by Reldo that explains it well
@@JerkWarlord "In-universe" explanations are irrelevant....our reality, the real world, distinctly breaks the game up into ages. RS3 is in the 6th age, period. This isn't something that's up for debate.

@@JerkWarlord "In-universe" explanations are irrelevant....our reality, the real world, distinctly breaks the game up into ages. RS3 is in the 6th age, period. This isn't something that's up for debate.

Sorry not sure what you mean? :)
Nice video. Quite like your humour. Too bad this game is terrible. I think you'd do well branching out to other games after you're done with this series. Good luck
Thanks so much. Honestly we are really enjoying it so far. Also we play lots of games. What games do you think our style would work well with?
RS3 isn't Terrible. It's just different than what you obsess over on OSRS.
Oy vey aren't you tired of that tired old comment already? rS3 bAd is so 10 years ago lmao.
Was bad 10 years ago. Somehow it's only gotten worse@@JerkWarlord

RS3 > OSRS.
OSRS Has nosgalgia, and simplicity.
RS3 is more fun overall.
We are looking forward to seeing what we have missed over the last 10 years. We are still trying to get to grips with everything.
