As an old man of 50 looking to stay healthy for as many years as possible I cycle / run for fitness & to keep my heart pumping, and do weight training to try and preserve muscle mass for as many years as possible. MT's videos very helpful on form for exercises / ideas for new exercises on the weights. Would love a video aimed at older folk trying to stay healthy - it may already be there. Couldn't give a monkey's if MT enhanced or not - his video content is delivered well and very helpful to my health goals

47 here, just started like 3 months ago, watched athlean-x's dumbbells exercises (only have dumbbells, to poor to buy other stuff) now i'm mixing the two
i am morbidly obese, heaviest i weight 155 kilos at 176cm height, bmi of ~50
so i need to before my body says "do it yourself, i'm done"
already seeing a lot of progress/growth in chest, shoulders, traps and back, pretty proud.. but the belly man ... and bottom pecs, hard when you only have dumbbells and no bench
      but i'm pushing on
good luck, we need it if we wanna keep up with these youngsters ;-)

At 4 minutes I always thought about that too. If how we train while in our teen years effects the way our body develops long term? I think it's partially true, I didn't have a squat rack and it took me a long time to even get close to balancing out my upper and lower body. But I'm also barrel chested with small calves and long achilles tendons so the foundation genetics are also a factor.

The last video I did on Mike was comparing Mike Thurston to Mike O’Hearn in order to show people how obvious it was that Mike o Hearn was not natural by saying look at the comparison of these 2. Of course it’s possible that he’s natural there’s probably a few dozen guys in the world that could look like this natural if you want to believe that he’s one of the two dozen people in the world it could’ve potentially done it natural then be my guest.

Although last chest day I ignored pressing cause of that and just did floor chest flys and pushups. That's it. Did each until failure with very short rest between. Chest was more sore than after any other day I've exercised for past 6 months (partially because any pressing I've done has been pointless cause my shoulders take over).

I've got a problem with Push day. It's too long. My workout is: 1. Dips, 2. flies, 3. incline, 4. flat, 5. decline bench press, 6. Rope pull down, 7. Skull crushers, 8. overhead rope extensions, 9. Shoulder press, 10. Shoulder raise, 11. Delts, 12. Crazy eight. According to the mountain dog you should never do more than 7/8. I don't know what to cut.

Take out decline bench. (Works same as dips).
Alternate between Incline bench and shoulder press each push workout, there is no need to do both in the same day.
Superset your triceps with your lateral raises to save on time.
And do you actually do them all in that order?? If so what is your reasoning for dips AND flies before a pressing movement? I'm guessing you are going to say pre exhaustion.

strange one with the overhead barbell shoulder press because they say when you finish at the top it should be behind your head but the smith machine doesn't perform that action.

Did you ever try the most common split? (e.g. chest Monday, legs Tuesday, back Wednesday, rest Thursday, shoulders Friday, arms Saturday, rest Sunday) If so, why’d you change it?

I think there is some truth to certain body parts becoming a strong point if there were trained in early age.
When barefooted I automatically used to walk with my heels up as a kid (still do this) and did stuff that was taxing to my calves and now they're overdeveloped compared to my other muscles. My arms are only 16.5 inches but my calves are over 19 inches despite almost never training them directly.

its true, my chest is the most dominant muscle, cuz when i started training it was push ups only, and in the gym at 17 years i trained chest like 3 times per week :D, so now whatever i do chest is always like the one thing u notice first, still my fav to train tho but i do like 3 or 4 exercises max lol. So theres definetly something in that, wish i trained properly when i started
, 24 now btw doing push pull legs regiment right now, 5/6 days per week

Do you take magnesium to help muscle recovery? . Its great for fatigue and energy.
You can take it as a supplement or simply bath in epsom salts.

“REST DAYS” for me are very difficult as my job is 8-5 and I’m a window fitter so my cardio is still high and lifting/carrying is still very intense so I still eat the same amount of calories and my body sometimes doesn’t feel I get enough rest unless it’s weekend and I don’t go out. could you recommend a higher calorie or good cheat meal what I’ll feel that my body has got the most out of a rest day as in during the week without lifting my own weights due to my home gym ?

JOIN a gym mate and go before work so go 6am, that will sort you not feeling like you're getting your rest, beat the shit out of yourself and I promise the rest of the day you fitting windows will be a dream you will feel high. Eat 2 chapattis with kidney bean lentils and main you see what happens the next day - eat it 1 hour before bed, when you go gym at 6 you will notice a surge in power. 2 chapatis and a bowl of delicious kidney beans with a glass of chilled milk will; get you 900 cals and 75 gramms of protein....
If you dont look ugly in the gym then you aint training right..
