Coming into a new phase in Season of Discovery is sure to lead to plenty of new content and suprises, and so far I have had an amazing time on the new patch.
Today I wanted to share a few tips that I have learned about phase 2 now that we are a little over a week into it. I have had plenty of time to check out all the content, so hopefully you will find something useful here!

For the STV event, ALWAYS fight near the big blood troll boss. He applies a buff to all players near him that heavily increases coins obtained. He's also always very close to an altar to turn in blood. I almost never PvP in WoW, and still got my raptor in just a few days after hitting 40, by scrapping in a 5 man near the boss. Around 10 silver coins per event.
stv event was fun but is a joke that you get your epic in 1 fight im already burnd out of this phase to much faceroll and horrible pvp balance. Arcane mage that can oneshot comon :D

The “pick a main” advice is so good. When I first got into SOD I was playing and leveling almost everything because I wanted to try everything. I definitely burnt myself out. Right when phase 2 hit I told myself “you’ve always wanted to tank on a shaman, you said shaman was gonna be your main, so just focus on that.” It really helped.
I leveled three horde. Swapped to ally. And decided I just want to be a ne druid. With herbs and alchemy. And I'm leaning hard into. Tho I have a alt just to level with my brother that just atarted

I think 3 is the max number of toons for your average gamer and that's pushing it. Def not something I can do
Although I like totemic projection as a shaman tank, I’m more likely to use my totems, I really need a way to extend Rockbiter for more than 5 mins and any shield (Lightning or Water) to more than 3 charges in order to keep my sanity
with the 50% xp buff on previous phase content, and QoL items like the sleeping bag and Student Fodder, as well as the runes abilities being what they are, I feel like levelling alts is the best it has always been in classic.
While not as alt-friendly as WotLK (and Cata will be) it is a longshot from Classic Era
I think for me, the STV wPvP event has been a big success after all their changes. I get being annoyed by it if you aren't 40, but I find it is super easy to get into a group, with many pugs not even asking for particular specs or roles, and once you get into a group, just roaming around as a 5-man squad and running into other 5-man squads or a whole group of 5-man squads is really fun. It's exactly what I imagine when I think of good wPvP: pure-unadulterated-chaos
Might depend on server or faction. As a warrior it's been really difficult for me to find a group (most of the people I know don't play at the hours I do) and even when I do, I still end up being farmed by other players. Decent gear, the only major upgrades left for me are from later blacksmithing or Gnomer.
Sort of wondering how much better SoD would be without people datamining everything, so we could actually DISCOVER things as they come instead of having it spoiled in advance.
Just don't read wowhead a couple days before the phase. It's not that hard

@@dosbilliam that would happen wothout datamining too. In fact, all runes where already discovered after 3 days. Most of the ones I did discovered purely by players (I participated in a couple of them). Is it wrong too simply because they were faster than you? Ofc they will ask you to have the runes if you want to group with them
12:57 - I can confirm they don't only drop in SM. As a hunter, I got my Aspect of the Viper from Glutton in Razorfen Downs.
I got one or two of my warlock books from RFD. So every dungeon above 25 can drop is my guess
I think tagging people even if your group doesn't get the kill should give you some blood. It would also be nice if the bloods were shared, so that it balanced out a bit between solo and groups. But the biggest annoyance that could be fixed in the event imo is allowing people to buff themselves during the death immunity

Levelled up two characters to lvl 40 (main melee hunter and resto druid alt) just by spamming Stockades till 28 and then SM! Was pretty fast honestly, got the sleeping bag and fodder on both, good rewards too.

I can confirm they can drop from other Bosses, Priest Fortitude Book, from Houndsmaster.
8:10 did they change it to persist through death? We were losing the buff on death while levelling to 40.

it is kinda tough to get enough gold on a new character as a new joiner or if you are switching realms and leveling from scratch. Because you level so quickly sub 25, you dont do enough gold to even offset the gold that you need to spend on new skills. Also since you only have the quests at level 40 to make some bank, its gonna be pretty hard to catch up on others that were able to do a lot of quests on 25 + 40 to get their gold.
I have had spell books drop in all dungeons from SM, RFD, and Uld.
I got enhanced blessing from the boss in Uldaman you face directly once you go backdoor.
Bfd experience can also be rested. Just got 1.5 levels from bfd alone

Can you take it in combat?
@@jimmymemez3977 Yes. It's also more than just a full hp/mana pot, it gives Warriors 40 rage, fully restores Feral and Rogues energy, etc. Basically, it either fully restores or grants a huge chunk of resource on use.
Is there a way to get more student fodder?
@@WilliamGLewis-yt9fwI don’t believe so I kinda wish they make a cooking recipe for it in phase 3 and make the mats a little difficult to get so it can’t be spammed
@@WilliamGLewis-yt9fwat the moment, no. Some of my guildies saved them all for later phases, but I’m with Willie, it’s very possible they ‘deactivate’ them in later phases.
My lock STRUGGLED to get the portal book 😂 the drain soul one dropped pretty fast from Thalnos but I did over 20 SM runs only to have it drop from Locksey

The books also drop from rfd, got my aspect of the viper from there.
The books drop from all dungeons, after RFK... SM GY is just the first one that people step their foot in, and one that they spam a lot.. so 80% of the playerbase got their books from there and assumed that it's just SM GY.
Truth is, that it's just dungeons.
I am rolling Rogue/Druid for my mains. Then leveling Priest and Pally lazily lol
I am so surprised with the STV event. I almost didnt come back for P2 as i didnt play much P1 and i didnt like the idea of the STV event when they announced it. Hit 40 and i have been having so much fun doing the event, got my items and am 30 silver away from the mount. (And i traditionally hate pvp)

Hey wille, your my fav SoD content creator and i would love to see you being a bit more vocal about the huge Problems in PvP at the moment. Especially in BGs
This makes no sense. If you have issues, go to the forums and start a topic or join in on a thread. If it isn't something that he concerns himself with willingly why should you want him to? I've never gotten the feeling that Wille has ever tried to act like "a voice of the people". He may sometimes bring up issues, but he never seems to try and actively be "vocal" about anything in the way that your comment seems to imply.

I was just adressing something thats on my mind and Wille is one of the biggest SoD creators and its obvious that the devs watch their videos. Propably much rather than finding my post in the forum....
@@julianzenker824 you are literally asking him to be your mouthpiece to the devs. I won't even try and speak for Wille but if he wanted to address it I believe he would do so without needing to be asked. Let him make the content he wants to. Besides, I bet if enough people had a problem with it to create a mega thread then the devs would definitely take notice. The forums are literally hosted on the blizzard website. They pay people to keep up with what topics people are discussing most. I'm not saying they wouldn't see Wille's video if he did make one concerning your concerns but (again not trying to speak for the man) but maybe Wille just wants to spend his time writing and editing videos about things he enjoys and not spend several hours just to pass a message from other players to Blizz, especially when they have perfectly fine ways to let their voices be heard. He isn't some activist. He's just a player who likes to talk about parts of the game he enjoys.

The way you worded it made it seem like you aren't just asking for his opinion on something. To "be vocal" about something usually implies a lot more than just a discussion. It usually implies speaking up for something and wanting your opinion to be heard by those with the power to change it. And if that is your goal, in relation to the PvP, then maybe you should speak up yourself. Like, on a forum or something. Not ask someone else to do it for you. If you are simply wanting Wille to give a more in depth opinion on the state of PvP then that is fine, but with how you stated your first comment, I feel confident in saying that isn't how most people would have interpreted it.

Warrior is out the question for me. Mostly because I know everyone if going to have 1 and getting gear is going to suck. The sever is gonna shut down before I get full bis.
Im a bear tank and who would of every thought id be prefered over other tanks in classic lol. Im at 68-70% damage reduction with runes (58-60% without survival rune and using wild strikes), 13% dodge, 20% crit. Plus just good utility with talents etc. Threat with shammy buff no one is pulling stuff off you even large aoe pulls. Thats why we say play what you love and dont go for meta it changes weekly.

As a player that has never had a issue farming gold, I'm glad for all the gold sinks and think they need even more. Most gold farms produce raw gold, and thats what most ppl are doing. Even if bots didnt exist, this alone causes gradual inflation.
Please blizzard help our ults lvl a bit fast especially if we have a lvl 40.

They need to up date daggers for p3... Rogue have three options for daggers including the gnimer daggers. It stinks and P3 isn't going to be any better. It's going to be Gutripper and the 48 dagger.
Hunter main, 30 mage, and rest of horde classes all 25. Thinking Warrior and priest alts.
Not really seen any youtubers mention this, engineering is kinda useless for bosses in phase 2. Pick another profession for your main if you're trying to min-max.

Got stuck at 25 and havent touched the game because i didnt get to join a guild during phase 1
Hard to answer without knowing your server or what time you actually play, so I would suggest you just look for a casual/leveling guild. They're known to take anyone at any level and are generally more helpful to newbies than the die hard guilds that are done in a week and will be raid logging until next patch. On Penance (Aussie server) new players are still instantly snatched up, so just in case everyone on your server is sweaty (which I actually doubt) come join the Australians. For americans who worry about server lag, so far not a problem and the Aussie's are incredibly nice to our invasion of them (yes, I'm american).
10:30 re the SVG event. Don't go there unless you are max level and in a group of 5 people that can really stick together. Otherwise you're a corpse over and over again.
I just came back for phase 3 and im level 25 but gee not sure im gonna make 25-40 in aday.
It’s not easy for me to get on the SoD train. Grinder af and having to run for 40 levels isn’t so appealing. I’m trying tho!!
I'm still absolutely baffled by how Blizzard manages to have these phases of absent mindedness.
Ashenvale PVP? Let's have a completely pointless % bar fill up that has no impact on the actual event because you don't have any benefit from maxing out your factions percentage first.
Stranglethorn PVP? Let's have "free-for-all" but completely disregard the free-for-all aspect of it by allowing grouping. On a bonus note I absolutely love right before the event starts, seeing chat get spammed with people looking for a "BM party". I guess it's fitting seeing as how often you'll be wiping during this event anyway.
True FFA wouldn't be fair for 60% of classes. Pretty much anyone without self healing or stealth.

Especially low level ganking where you don't even get honor. What are you even on about? Any form of PvP, "FFA" or not, that has any sort of gear or rewards behind it needs to be designed with a level of balance in mind.

Like, I understand your point, but I think you're not understanding mine. People look for literally any advantage possible. If people are willing to play unfairly for literally nothing, you think they're not going to play even more unfairly for rewards? If fairness actually mattered to that extent, then battlegrounds would have like group comp requirements when you queue up for one, because it wouldn't be fair if the opposing team got a good PVP comp while you got put in a group with little to no synergy.
Edit: I forgot to actually include my point about low level ganking. Being locked down at level 15 by a level 60 and being unable to play the game because of this is unfair. I'd argue the actual ability to play the game is more important than end-game rewards. (Which you can't get if you can't level up) Yet, Blizzard has continued to not do anything about that aspect of the game for decades, so I don't put much faith in Blizzards perception of "fair PVP" regardless of rewards being involved or not.

So at best 22%-33% of individual PVP is unbalanced by that logic.
Blizzard has created an absolute PVP balancing nightmare with runes. Self Healing barely matters because for the most part people are just getting 1-2 shot anyway. In group PVP it's basically just 5 players all targeting a singular person at the same time and erasing them from existence entirely from 30+ yards away which isn't really fair either. It's world PVP so my point is that "fairness" doesn't matter. Allowing a group just promotes more degeneracy and min-maxing. If it were true FFA you wouldn't have nearly as many players synchronizing watches to completely delete someone, as they'd also be attacking each other (Hopefully) Saying that having it be a true FFA would be unfair for some individuals genuinely doesn't make any sense, because the way it's set up is still unfair for some individuals.
Asking me what class or classes I play just sounds like typical bait, regardless of how I answer, including this non-answer, but not addressing it either, just implies I didn't actually read what you said. I just wanted this PVP experience to be absolute chaos and instead it's evolved into the traditional pre-mades min-maxing their numbers per hour and because of that it doesn't feel organic or new. Even if it were a true FFA people would still be able to min-max it and I acknowledge that. I just think it would be slightly more difficult.
They said all along they were level up raids. They also said they plan on doing a catch up methods for previous phases. I.E. xp buff. "I can foresee them doing this in future phases". Like what??

I been doing great solo Blood Moon as a boomchicken. I just wait for groups to fight each other to to low health and then open up on them from stealth, then run and hide. Hit and run gorilla tactics. Staying true to Strangle Thorn Vietnam tactics. Vietnam was a gorilla war for those that don't know.

The STV even has been terrible. When I don't want to be part of it, I simply have to leave the zone, and when I do want to be part of it the lag is so bad I just leave. And with all the "fixes" they have done to the event, for some reason the second the event starts, no matter what zone in the world you are in, the entire server stalls multiple times in that first 10 minutes of the event.
Between my kids being forever home and sick, double shifts at work, and never ending adulting, ill be lucky to hit 40 before p3
I suppose slightly modified classic constitutes as tons of new content 🤷♂️

It just sucks for me because I've been maining hunter since the burning crusade so, of course, I chose to main hunter in SoD. And I chose hunter in SoD after seeing the phase 1 runes. The only melee hunter I have ever enjoyed in retail was during legion. Now I have it and it's the best performing spec and I've already had people say I'm chasing the flavor of the month.
I just wanted a fun melee hunter 😭 and now I'm being criticized for playing it. I'm not gonna switch but still, it's one of the first times I've not been concerned with being meta and I'm still being meta.
Warlock will always be the best tho.

@@blackjedi2008 the runes that allows it to work is called Bloodsurge combined with quick strike, flagellation, frenzied assault. You get burst combined with flagellation and whirlwind and slam procs!

I wish I knew warrior was going to get 0 love, and fury was going to be unplayable due to bosses having more armor than MC bosses.
Hope they keep the 50% exp bonus. This iteration of wow is even more punishing if you take a few months off. Imagine collecting every rune missed after p1 up to p6 but not slow released

the pvp stv event was ore is cool the main problem with it you get your epic item in 1 Fight, what is legit a joke whole phase 2 was cleard in 10hours. Arathi Basin makes 0 sence all Items are horrible on 40. From PvP balance we dont need even to speak shadowlands was even better :D And raiding is just same meta runs all specs that go oom wont find raid spot

They dropped the ball on waylaid supply. I legit haven’t gotten a single one and I’m lvl 40. What’s the point of making it so you can hold 12 when you can’t even get one.
i can tell you didn't sweat it this time around.
take it from someone who did (6/6 both lockouts high parse top 1% etc.): there is nothing to do at level 40 besides pvp right now, and even that part is over with really quick unless you need defilers rep, which again, can be farmed from the pvp event until at least revered.
the gnomeregan raid is very doable. challenging but doable.
it seems to me that those who stacked melee in their favor (melee hunters being the exception) drew the short end of the stick on the first/both lockouts, and those who made an either balanced raid or ranged heavy raid sort of 'won the lottery' because the final boss in there is extremely punishing on a melee heavy raid for a number of reasons, both purely mechanically to do with the fight itself and the stats the boss (and frankly, all the bosses) has that being way too high armor values as you did point out in the video as well.... and you know what, i might play enhancement shaman so maybe it isn't as noticable for me or something because my dps is garbo tier _anyway_ but i feel like nerfing the bosses armor would make the raid an actual cakewalk.
if they nerf the boss' armor across the board it would be a wise counterbalancing move to buff all the bosses HP quite dramatically to compensate because otherwise the raid is going to blow up like a nuke the second the nerf hits the live servers, with sub 30 minute clear times etc. being the norm overnight, and there would go the last piece of actual good content left to do in the phase.
trust me, you might say i sweated it too hard and rushed the fun out of the game, but i'll give it about a week before you get to where i am at right now... you're gonna have a dramatic awakening one of these coming days where you see the atrocious gold sinks that welcomes you after the shock that phase 2 is really barebones once the essential mandatory 25-40 prebis grind is done, passes.
see as opposed to phase 1 where i pretty much always had something to do because the gameplay loop was way smoother, at 40 you hit a wall of content drought almost immediately, not counting the raid, obviously. followed by the realization that you now have to grind a ridiculous amount of gold depending on your class/spec/role(s) just to cover "bare essentials" when it comes to your bis list i.e shaman has multiple roles thus need multiple epic 25g recipes (and crafts) to cover gearing needs compared to i.e mage who only have a couple of essential stats to worry about regardless of spec _and_ armor class (i.e plate/mail/leather/cloth)
personally, i leveled 4 characters with the sole intention of making a bunch of LEGIT spare gold through quests and dungeon farming to cover my expenses all the way through at least phase 2 on my main character, and honestly, the gold i've made over the span of doing all the content in phase 1 on 4 characters doesn't even begin to cover the amount of gold i need for this phase JUST for my shaman's (my MAINS) gearing needs and frankly telling me to "grind harder lol" is downright atrocious at this point.
the real reason i am practically being robbed blind by the game right now is because blizzard is trying to combat the overall gold inflation across all SOD servers by turning necessities into gold sinks to get rid of a bunch of it.... you're not gonna sit there and tell me that 4 characters worth of motivated gold farm is justifiably nullified because my shaman happens to need 6 recipes instead of the typical 1-3 other less 'hybridy' classes needs.
phase 2 is so barebones that with hindsight on my side i can assure you, that if you knew how little there actually is to do at 40 besides the literally high point of the patch which is the 3-day lockout content, nobody would have even bothered rushing.
as someone who DID rush it to get the first gnomer lockout after phase launch, i can assure you that if you didn't rush and aren't 40 yet, you are literally only missing out on one thing: the raid (which arguably is a good reason to rush 40 within the first lockout by the way).
also, whats the deal with the prolonged reset thing? wasn't that supposed to be a postponing of the raids release? because as far as i know they completely botched that, seeing as i already have 2x 6/6 under my belt... so like, whats the point of doing it this week? make it make sense wtf.
I agree with basically everything here. I don’t rush but did hit 40 after 5 days. Still haven’t done the raid bc I’m waiting on a few people in guild so we can all run together. I didn’t like the pvp event and so…there isn’t anything else to do. None of the dungeon items are pre BiS for rogue so no reason to run them anymore. Tanking isn’t fun bc aoe is insane on most classes and only Pally tanks can hold all the threat right now. It’s just a meh kind of season so far. More alts to level I suppose but man the gold cost will def keep you from doing more than 2-3 toons.

Warlock and druid are very good! Excellent solo and versatile in groups. They're both top tier in PvP as well. Cant go wrong

What is wrong with this company, phase 1, all melee is tops, phase 2, all casters are top. Is it impossible to balance classes.
They are clueless they gave the bosses more armor than Ragnaros, however simply reducing it will fix the issue.
Oh wise one. How would you balance it? Exactly which numbers would you tune? Which abilities would you change and how, specifically, would you do it? Exactly how much armor and resistances should the bosses have? And what are you trying to to balance more? PvP or PvE? If you are going to balance them separately, which abilities on which classes do you change and by how much?

It isn't perfect. But it's damn good for classic. The world pvp events have been a bit meh, but I don't play this game for the pvp. So it works when I want to do it.
I honestly think its much much worse than normal classic. We the players are far to powerful. The game needed to get harder not facefoll.

And it got boring very fast due to how unbalanced it was and how many dead specs it had.
Specs like shadow priest, balance druids, feral, Ret paladin, enha shaman, ele shaman were just.. memes.
Now u see ALL of them.. A LOT.
And things like tank shamans and meele hunters are OP as fuck as well, that's extremely refreshing... Not to mention that it pretty much solved the "trying to find a tank for 2 hours " problem that classic had.
Classic was all about warriors, rogues and mages...
Now i see every single fucking class and spec around.
It's refreshing...
this is basically what people wanted.
The old world, azeroth.. with the leveling experience, the quests etc, of vanila.. BUT with a somewhat "wotlk" class-spec balance , so everything is just viable.

? Normal classic was by far the most popular and long lasting game Blizzard has published in 10 years. Even two years into classic it had more people playing it than SOD. Wow classic has almost no dead spec, every spec is either very good in pvp or pve but their are a few exceptions. To be fair Enh shaman was never good at either, but ele shaman was extreamly good in pvp and resto shaman extreamly good in pve so the class still had one of the best spec's in the game at either thing. What happens when you buff pvp specs like ret pala, balanced druid, shadow priest assa rogue is the utterly broken mess of a game that is SOD. People are quitting like crazy fast.

I would not have played it at all. I expected way more content like turtle wow or project epoch and better class balance. Instead this Blizzard team has been as lazy as possible, runes are nothing more than skills and talents from other xpacks and break the entire games balance. Currently in p2 warlock can solo uldaman as a lvl 40 solo. The entire feel of classic wow has been ruined.
Stv has win trafing happening and has since day 1... people just wait in a grp qnd kill each other when buff is gone, yes the event is easy anyway but get 1500 coins without trying to so dumb.
Aspect of the Viper is too good. Needs to be nerfed. That 10% damage nerf is nothing.
really? can we look at spriests and the like 1st? you already have a 30% dmg nerf inc for raptor strike, on top of the 5-10% normalization, what more do you want? maybe learn to play the game before demanding more changes that don't actually affect you in any way.

I was really looking forward to this phase but I've unsubbed already, mainly because I wanted to see what you could do with mage but most of the new runes are pointless and frost is still completely useless for both pvp/pve. All I wanted to do was score some sweet shatter combos but I get 1shotted before getting off 1 frostbolt with all the cocaine abilities out there. Then the only tuning we get is more conjured waters on cast... brilliant! Yea it's early days but can't see them doing anything with frost this phase, as was the same with phase 1.

Say what you want about warrior but giving us a whole slot for highly useless utility in the boots slot (for PvE) and Nerfing devastate into the ground so it is useless is criminal. i just want to play prot with a shield but it always sucks. That utility slot should've been used to make prot more viable but they are lazy and dont care about warriors.

They need to stop forcing World PvP and introducing new grindy items. The player base is not the same as it was 20 years ago when no one knew what was going on and things developed organically. WoW is filled the sweatiest of sweats in all of gaming. People will theory craft and data mine trying to find the most efficient ways possible to do anything before others, removing the fun, discovery aspect for everyone else in the process. If they really want to have PvP just bring in Arenas and Rated BGs. Make leveling 4x faster to allow people to try out all the classes. Spending days of /played leveling and grinding on a seasonal 20 year old game for some sprinkled changes is not worth it.
