10:48 This is a great idea, it has worked for me. For the last few months, instead of recording, I stream almost all of my gaming videos. Here are some of the biggest reasons I see:
    1. You waste less time from streaming and recording separately
    2. Viewers feel more special, because it feels like a video, but they can interact with it
2.5. Viewers' chat messages, follows, donos, etc. will appear in your TH-cam videos, which they like, making it a higher chance that they both subscribe to your TH-cam and follow you on Twitch
    3. It's just more fun to record videos with people watching it in real time
And more. It's just a great idea.

    • @gravybate2283

      4. You don’t have to use a lot of energy on making a video. You can just be your usual self on stream.

  • @xiaoxiaostickguy
    @xiaoxiaostickguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

Honestly, related to how you said that every industry needs a "jerk", one of the most meaningful things I heard prior to this video was some Ludwig video where he it was titled something like "I am not your friend" and really dropped some harsh truths on how a streamer views individual audience members (even though ofc the audience is important to him). I think a quote directly from it was something like "I can't care about you. Not just 'don't', *literally* 'cannot'".
As a comparison, though this also resonated with me, was from another streamer who said a sort of similar thing; something along the lines of "We could respond to all our fanmail, but then we'd have no time to stream."
It conveys the same message imo but when it is presented as bluntly as Ludwig says it, it feels so much more memorable and understandable.

I know I'm being provocative by saying the ending was just him talking too much and trying to level out the solid compliment he gave you but, he's right. There's no genius quality to reading instructions, testing the equipment and making a decision on what looks, sounds and feels the best; AND... THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT AN "ART!" So, what he was saying, Harris Heller, (that I think was lost is) you are an Influential Artist with your technical knowledge and good judgment. I'm not apologizing for him, I'm just sharing what I took away from his comment. Try listening to it again in this light and I think you'll see what I'm getting at. Either way, it's true... you are very influential and you definitely know what you're talking about with equipment, lighting, business sense for social media and various other expertise you share with us; and we thank you for that 😎👍

I feel one of the biggest takeaways with doing collabs, is not just the exposure, because I do agree with you that you won’t collab and network your way to stardom, and that you should be able to stand on your own as well, BUT one of the most important things to takeaway from a collab, is being able to learn things from each other that will help you grow on your own. Learn their habits and what makes them tick and put it to your personal branding.
Just like the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together, people who hang out with losers, develop the attributes of a loser, people who hang out with winners, eventually become one. If you wanna be successful at streaming, you have to make your collabs worth it, and learn from what they do RIGHT, and use it to help you stand on your own. It’s something I learned from being a music producer, flow artist, and now gaming content creator. This principle will always apply.

What I have heard from most streamers now is:
      - do something you enjoy, this will make it authentic
      - don’t do stuff that’s over saturated (valorant, league etc) since you won’t grow on it
      - ludwigs “yoink and yank” - you don’t always have to come up with new ideas, take a look on what’s already around and personalize it. Also find our what works for your audience or if you don’t have an active audience yet, what you enjoy and think what other people will enjoy too and turn it into a series. Ludwig for example has multiple series he runs through over the week and does the same again next week, he just has to make it entertaining.
And if youre content is really specific out of the box, sit down think about ideas. Write every single idea down no matter how dumb it might be and then think about, if you can do that and if people might enjoy it and then just try it out😁

I literally cackled at the end. Hahahaha... Harris is honestly an exception to that rule. Great video again. As someone very serious about trying to make content creation a living, I really appreciate the tips and honest strategies. At the end of it all, if I'm just not making good enough content, I can honestly say, I gave it my best shot and I tried to learn from the best. I don't ever plan on giving up and will continue the grind and try to improve until the day I die... But, at least, I'll leave something cool behind when it's all said and done. Something I loved making and am happy to have done.

"No big streamer is..." Harris said to his Therapist. The Therapist nodded sub-consciously, it was an involuntary movement, but even the therapist was a 'bigger streamer'. The therapist looked up, realising Harris was sobbing gently.

This info all works no doubt; even on a small scale. The second I started posting TH-cam videos was the second I started getting "offline" followers on Twitch. That only happened previously if I was live. The most views I have on a public video is 250 views and I've gained 6+ follows in a day just from that video.
You editing has to be snappy to keep retention, and your CTR has gotta be great w/ good titles and thumbnails; so as long as you can figure that out you'll do well

  • @switchunboxing

When you said figure out if he wants to play Throughs or tutorials, that made me think. I just play a different switch game like every week. That doesn’t fall under either category. Is that a bad way to go? I’m thinking maybe I should try switching it up but I feel like people got bored whenever I was just playing one game every time
