Love your videos man. I'm a law enforcement firearms instructor and find myself glued to your videos picking up tips and other info. Keep them coming especially the drills.
Thank you for making so many printable targets available. You hand out valuable information to those of us who cannot afford expensive classes, and you give resources to help use the information to learn. Thank you.
New trainee here - I've spent hours and hours trying to understand training principles. Thus guy and this channel are THE BEST resources for us noobs. Everything is always so clear and reasoned and well explained. Just wanted to say thank you!
Thank you for recommending repetition of the aiming/sighting motion on its own. Muscle memory, training your brain and your movements to work together seamlessly is great. Shooting a live round after practicing this a lot is actually more helpful than always pulling the trigger on a live round.
100% true with that last drive the gun out drill...just 10 minutes a night of target acquisition and mag changes has changed my range times. Thanks for the videos!
Good tips. I subscribed. My club doesn't allow draw from holsters indoors, but I can do the compress-then-fire instead, and practice the holster draw at home. Very nice!!!
@@GuyGuysonHimself he said one of, not the best. Regardless miculeks channel doesn't give nearly the advice this channel does. Trex arms hands down beats miculeks
This really does work wonders. I spent some time every day for a week practicing getting sights on target and then spent less than an hour on the range seeing improvements and was made aware of what I'm doing right and wrong, so I can work on those things for next time.
You’re a damn robot. Watching you repeat the sights from compressed-ready looked like watching a scripted animation. (You practice a lot, basically. Kickass video)
Lucas just watching your videos I have improved so much on my technique on driving my gun forward and aligning my sights. Thank you so much for making these videos! Please keep up the amazing work!
Lucas, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. Being new to all this your videos having given me a great starting place. I had no idea how much you could gain from all the dry fire drills you have shown. Thanks again and keep up the great work. Take care man.
You have a very unique grip. I notice your support hand pointer finger wrapped just below the trigger guard and tucks between your pointer and middle finger of you grip hand. I actually mirrored this a few reps and feels amazing. Gonna try this grip at the range. Definitely seems to "vice" the firearm much tighter. Wish I had access to an outdoor range I think I'd live out there lol!
I heard comments about some people hating this guy. I'm not sure where that could come from. This is the first video of his that I have watched and I found the instruction to be fantastic. 👍
Hey Lucas/T.REX ARMS, just stumbled on the channel here. I'm really appreciative of the tips and guides you're handing out. As a new shooter, I've been trying to find ways to learn my gun. Sight lining, acquisition, etc. Thanks, man! Keep it up.
It bothers me how much people hate on him and his shooting. Who cares if he isn’t military? He shoots better than everybody who is talking bad... Keep it up man, they just hate because they can’t do what you can do. Props😎
All, this kid has a great knack for doing informative TH-cam videos extremely well! Kudos! I just subscribed, he does better than many others I've seen posting on this site. Keep up the excellent work!!👍
Also check out 3:50. When he talks about "compressed ready," his elbows are slightly flared out. I've heard elsewhere that this helps add more control when firing. He never mentions elbows much in his other vids, except to not lock them out.. I could also be completely wrong, but this is my theory that I want to test it out on the range.
lockrunner07 when the gun is extended his elbows are more twisted in, (shoulder external rotation) than twisted out. If he was twisting/flaring out they would be pointed straight out but instead they are down more at a 45.
It's largely about reducing the time it takes to bring the weapon to the ready. The further forward you start your weapon the faster it is to bring it forward and fire. He's basically talking a lot of nothing in this video other than "do this shit a lot and you'll do it faster" which is the secret behind pretty much anyone who does anything really quickly.
You did great, mate. You shot two consecutive shots in a tight groupie was freaking awesome. I need to train more to be precisely accurate like this. Thx for the tips , mate!
I have to say that your videos are really awesome. Very instructional and to the point. Thank you all for putting your time and effort into these videos and thank you Lucas for being so articulate.
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips. I’m a new shooter, and this helps. The clarity and information in this video is what I like. Right to the point and all business... good job brother!! I smashed that Sub button 👍🏼
Especially during this time, i really appreciate these videos you put out to help me become a better shooter. a better protector for my friends and family. thank you and stay safe lucus!
I just wanted to say. I'm getting into competition shooting, and the likes. Your videos man, they have helped a ton. I watch, k go and apply and I don't stop untill I have consistency! Thanks man. Blessings to you!
I would pick a different time standard for new or in-experienced shooters I.E. 2.00 sec or 2.50 sec. 2 shots under a second can be overwhelming for the average shooter and hence, discouraging. Plus, with that type of time standard, they will focus on the wrong things and not on acquire sight alignment & sight picture.
2alpha2quit it's a good standard to work up to though. In a couple hours I had my wife doing this Israeli style in 2.5 to 2.8. And that's Israeli! In one day!
when you start learning to do quick draw drills and fast target acquisition everybody wants to start slow and working through the motions to develop the muscle memory first. start slow and calm, make sure you're doing it properly. train to standards, not time when learning new skills to put in your arsenal. once you build up the muscle memory start working for faster and faster times.
Plus, in some countries (like Spain, where I live), there are really strict rules in gun ranges, and we are not allowed to shoot that close with the type of shooting I may do. The only way to shoot like that legally would be to do IPSC, but neither I am allowed to that. Federative shooting is 25 m or 50 m, no other to choose, and 2 shots to the head in under 1 second at 25 metres, that's a little bit too hard.
The mistake that I have made for years is focusing on the gun and not the target. I have found that when you focus on the threat your sights naturally fall on target ( with proper fundamentals and practice).
R S For close quarters you are correct, but at a distance front sight focus gives me better accuracy. I have found that by using a lazer for dry fire practice perfects this maneuver. It shows everything, if the dot even twitches "more practice is necessary" I have loaned it to friends and they have improved their skills also. Many bought them based on the results. Different sights and color combinations help also. But practice of good fundamentals is required. Truth!
if that works for you. but its always front sight in focus and trigger control. you can only focus on one thing at a time, so in a split second, what will keep you alive, seeing the target clearly, seeing the rear sight clearly, or seeing the front sight clearly, and the others a blur?
Nice video, I just subscribed. Personally, I like the jacket! I like "tactical" gear as much as the next guy but everyone jumping on the internet operator look... beard, sporting 5.11 pants, a plate carrier... and worse... gloves... while doing an unboxing video on there kitchen table... is so over done.
Rich R you caught me. I wear a 511 hat but its the only flex fit i can find where the bill curves how i like it, isnt made of a huge wool blend and doesnt have an over sized bill. I buy things not for brand but for what they do for me. I also wear merrel shoes. I dont hike but theyre comfortable, last a decent ammount of time and have a great tread pattern. The half stubble beard is just cause i hate having to shave and my work doesnt mind. Not everyone in these demographics are trying to be tacticool. Just saying.
1. I was referring to many of the wannabes online. Not saying everyone out there is a wannabe. I have seen videos with people wearing gloves doing unboxings and plate carriers in their living rooms. 2. ??? I don't understand this comment? Is DC complaining that the youtuber doesn't mention importance of trigger control?? The youtuber said in the beginning of the video he was only going to cover sight alignment.
Trigger control is the foremost skill a shooter must possess. If a shooter cannot control the trigger, nothing else matters. You might have great sight alignment squeeze the trigger move the weapon and your shot will be off. Aiming, sight alignment, sight picture whatever you want to call it will be of little use. Work on trigger control and work from there.
Like I said... sight alignment is ONE of many fundamentals. I could talk triggers for a long time. That has to be a SEPARATE video. You can't have an amazing trigger press and ZERO sight picture. You need both.
