- This is a shorts review of the iPhone 14 Plus and why I think the iPhone 14 Plus is a total failure. The iPhone 14 Plus sales have been very low, and it's causing apple to re-think the design of the iPhone 15 lineup.

I agree with you! These standard models should be a a few hundred less than the Pros. I would jump at the Pro for $100 more even though it’s smaller and less battery life.

indeed! I have the iphone 14 plus but that’s because I wanted the emergency sos feature but price-wise iPhone 13 pro was a better value. If they did not make the price point so close to iphone 13 pro it could have been a more popular option

The fix is easy. All Apple has to do is Lower the Price.
@Mr. Sahal E. M. Patel Eh I mean they are using the iPhone 13 pro chip which was different from the base model and it was up to 60% faster in GPU performance than base 13 so it id quite the jump for the base model
But honestly people who buy the base model aren’t the techy people who even really care.

14 plus is selling on discount in many countries now
Same price as a pixel 7 pro. $100 less than the iPhone 14 pro. Last year's processor less cameras. No 120Hz display. I have no idea what Apple was thinking.

Problem is it’s too expensive. If it was $100-$150 less I guarantee it would sell more. Even the 14 is too expensive if you ask me. Hopefully they lower the price point for the 15 & 15+. The 14+ would be a great upgrade for a person who’s coming from a 7+/8+🤷🏿♂️

Yeah all the reviews I saw or heard for the mini were positive. It had its own niche, and if it had 120hz I would've got it. My iPhone 13pro is so uncomfortable to hold that I'm considering switching to a pop socket case.
I love the mini versions I have a black 12 mini model and all my friends have 13 and 12 mini models I hope they bring it back with the 15 line up.

It's basically a 13 pro max minus promotion and telephoto camera so it's a really bad deal.
It's got better audio out than the iPhone 13, handy for me 🙂 and it feels lighter and I like the size (and extra year of updates!)
@@Andyhandle It doesn’t have better cameras and audio than the 13PM. It also lacks the 120hz refresh rate. It honestly feels like a degrade rather than an upgrade. Idk maybe the battery is better. But it’s honestly minuscule compared to the numerous downgrades.
@@squiddyword7224 audio on the 14 has been upgraded (outline on what hifi of the component changes). I like the size, weight and balance of the 14plus and has other advantages. The 14 has improved video stabilisation etc over the 13. However, for other reasons I'm going for the 13 (due to an ipad mini which means the larger size phone is less of a concern). 120 hz refresh isn't a deciding factor for me.
I'm keen to avoid is usb c given the issues with cables, an increasing number of phones after a while having issues etc (having been mainly android since android began in now moving my main sim to an iPhone).

@Sahara Johnson True, I just hate seeing them get ripped off. Atleast you save battery life I suppose. I think if you gonna spend alot of money you may aswell get the Pro version and that's literally why apple makes there lower phones worse so they can make you spend a bit more to get the better phone and you might have not of gotten if that marketing wasn't there. Apples marketing is clever and Samsung does the same thing but in a slightly different way.

Plus model did achieve what it was intended to achieve - upsell the pro models. Apple intentionally priced it that way so once considered "expensive" pro models appear like a better deal comparatively.

I loved the size of the 11 😩😩😩😩perfect middle ground between the really small mini and much bigger regular 12-13/12-13pro. Don't even get me started on the max lol... that shit was so big.
I spent 1 hour using one of those display Iphones you find in a mall and it was iphone 14 plus now idk what the problem is bc I could go for hours only using the display Iphone 14 plus because of how good it is but I agree buying an Iphone 13 pro max would be way more of a smart decision than a 14 plus

Make a Mini Pro, with all the features of the regular Pro model including the better cameras, in a small footprint but just a tad thicker to get it all to fit. Many people would love having a powerful pocketable phone and it would sell like crazy.

This would sell crazily if it was priced better. It’s the best value of the 4 versions imo. But if the pricing was $649 for a 14 and $749 or $799 for a 14 Plus, it would sell like hotcakes.
That´s what i expected. I think there isn´t that high of a demand on such big phones but Apple thought there would be because the Pro Max sold so well. But I think the Pro Max sells so well because it´s the most expensive variant and people just want others to think they´re rich nowadays so they buy the most expensive phone

@@albengeorge well for some people it doesn't really matter tho, if u love to playing games on iPhone, like me, as a mobile gamer urself, think about this, will the game sustain its performance at 120fps? Or at least 90fps? Definitely not. The device will get hotter, and if it gets too much heat, then the performance will decrease. Then, it will return from 120 or 90 to 50 or 60fps. Even iPad Pro cant sustain the 120fps performance on gaming, not to mention the iPhone. If u meant the pc still 60hz well i will have the same opinion like u, 60hz on pc is definitely not satisfying 🤣. And do think about this. Maybe for some user doesn't play games on their phone, but enjoys 120hz on random scrolling, social media, etc but does the people want to spent too much money on an iPhone only for social media in such high specs phone? Well i have the same struggles, i was moved back from my 120hz android phone to an iPhone after 7 years since the last time i use the iPhone and switched to android phones. For me too, 60hz on big screen is not really satisfying, but it doesn't matter to me, the things that matters is the performance, cooling system, OS, and battery
@@louisalvaro7724 agreed. The pricing did the 14plus dirty. It's actually my fav iphones bc i don't have to pay extras just for a big display. Having high refresh rate display is more like a trend but bc iphone sampling rate has always been high I don't think it feels that "laggy" on swipe, plus it extends the battery life even further. Another thing ppl don't get is that the pros are super heavy and feels uncomfortable holding in extended period, I have no reason to have to handle extra weight for shiny frames when I'll just gonna put a case on it.
It just makes more sense to get the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which I currently have. Over the iPhone 14 plus, you get a 3rd camera, the same chip, 120 hrtz refresh, same bezield, premium design, LIDAR etc for almost the same price

I actually think it's a cool phone. It's the only base-spec 14 that's worth it because of the screen size. If you're not into the bigger screen, get a standard 13 instead of a 14

Fair point. For those that want the big screen model and dont mind buying secondhand, a used 13 Pro Max would be a better value based on features for money. That's probably cannibalizing a good portion of sales of this phone, similar to how the base 13 is doing to the 14.
The mini was a good idea and quite liked amongst the tech community, unlike the plus. I think Apple need to either bring back the mini but expect lower demand, or scrap a second iPhone and go with the SE4, IPhone 6.1 or 6.2 inch(heard rumours of a size change), and then the two pros!

Well I wanted a mini for the size since my pocket space is getting tight. I ended up getting an iPhone 14 just because it’s a reasonable size phone lol
I’ve had this phone for a month now. I came from iPhone XR. In my country the iPhone 14 pro and pro max are sold 1400€ and above. So for me was the best option and I enjoy it everyday.

There’s a difference between “failure in terms of sales,” and “failure as a product.” This is a failure sales wise, whereas something like the galaxy note 7 is a failure as a product.

If the iPhone 14 Plus was released in September and was started around $150 less, more consumers would probably be more interested. The carrier discounts make the phone cost even less but the staggered release didn’t help

I don't know if you noticed, but the pro and regular you care so much about have always been the same size. It's always been redundant. It would work like this:
1. iphone 15 - 5.4" screen
2. iphone 15 pro - 6.1" screen
3. iphone 15 pro max - 6.7" screen
Why the name change? Simple, the average consumer cares about it and what it represents. Calling it a mini makes people subconsciously think its a lesser phone.

I think the main deterrent is that it’s on the A15 still. If they had kept it like before and upgraded to the A16 even if it was binned down. It would sell much better

If they were cheaper maybe they would sell better. But apple customers are still more likely to buy the more expensive options because those models have the good stuff and the companies clientele is usually willing to pay more

@@nydeatha9220120hz helps not strain your eyes as much I use 165hz panels even 300hz panels often so seeing 60hz on a new iPhone is a bit disappointing when growing up my government phone gave me 90hz I own a 14 pro and a 14 pro max I’m a heavy user so I switch phones constantly I can tell you once you get a 120hz you most likely never want to go back

Some people just need more options. The regular is a little small for my hands and the mini would most definitely be too small so the plus for me is great. I think it’s alright I just wish the price didn’t go up with each model. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

I’ll give you an option save $600 and buy a one plus nord it has the same features or spend a little extra and get the one plus 11 at $699 goes toe to toe with a 14 pro max or if androids aren’t your thing go with a 14 pro max on the used market I got mine near brand new for just $800 even got the box charger 100%battery heath and Apple care there are way to many better options then a 14 non pro I can’t believe they make such a device but again they sell 50k iMacs that sell for $900 on trade in

My iPhone XR I have had for five years was ran over by a car on Thursday. Felt the 14 max was too expensive so got the 14 plus on o2 as the bill was a lot lower.

@@ProPrince Every year that passes by, the upgrades for the standard iPhones get smaller and smaller. Like tell me just one valid reason to get a 14 over a 13 but also paying 100-200 bucks more? Action Mode? Nah. There was a big difference between the XR and 11 in camera, they upgraded the design and the display on the 12, the 13 got a little design change, but a big battery upgrade and yet all the phones I named got a newer chip cause it’s the new generation. They changed nothing literally almost nothing but added action mode. Now we have the standard 14 which is just a 13 with action mode and a plus version with an even more absurd pricing for no 120hz, still no design change, and still no newer chip generation. It even sells horribly. So why buy a 14 plus when you can get a 13 pro Max or 12 Pro Max for the same price or cheaper? Oh wait you say Software support, well no, same chip as the 13s and technically maybe a year more than the 12s

This is a major victory for us mini users
They need to start adding basic superficial features found in the pro lineup to the base iPhones. The people who would buy this phone are either people who want something bigger, or people who want a higher end phone without spending pro money.
The fix is so fucking easy. Just sell iPhone Mini, iPhone Pro and Pro Max. since the regular iPhone is just the last year's model.

I got it and it definitely feels pointless. I was trying not to splurge on the 14 pro max but I realized I should’ve just done that in the first place. It’s nice and definitely a great upgrade from my previous device but I feel a little disappointed in the value I’m getting when I could’ve just put down 50-100 more dollars on a payment.

I kinda wanted to get a iPhone 14 Plus but I made the poor decision to upgrade a month before the announcement and I got an iPhone 12, still a very great phone as well
Me and my nephew almost got one of iPhone 14 series last year we going to wait to get one of IPhone 15 series when it come out this Fall and me and my nephew still have iPhone 12 we got June 2021

Between iphone 13 and 14 there are minimal differences, it's just stupid how they thought this would work. There's nothing innovative about it. Car crash detection? Wow such an upgrade. If you ask me there isn't any upgrades it's an overall downgrade, specially if we take into account its ridiculous price. Like if you don't trade-in your old phone just in case you break the new one then they def are robbing you. Also yeah 14 pro might have good features but imo if you're an average person then it's not worth it's not like you're gonna shoot any movies lol. And if you are then you'd get a real professional camera not a phone, plus shooting in the highest quality takes so much space.
For those who have older iPhones or maybe an old android but you need to upgrade and don't want a Samsung because of equinox (s23 snap dragon is the bomb but way too expensive so...) then I'd recommend getting the 12 Pro which is what I'm planning on doing. I can get one in almost perfect condition with 256GB for 630€ so that's really worth if you ask me.
Crazy cause the iphone 14+ was my pick cause of the extra screen and battery, without all the unnecessary camera quips, 120hz that i personally have no use for.
Why would anyone want a 2 camera iPhone which is worse than 13 pro max but cost around the same?
Maybe they should bring back the minis but with a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the 16:9 since it doesn’t work as well for smaller phones
If the price was right it wouldn’t be a problem. They could at least add additional feature to the device besides a bigger screen. Maybe at least a tird camera or a better display or at least the new processor.
If they dropped the price by a 100$, both the 14 and 14 Plus would’ve been sold successfully. I guess they tried to see how far and stupid customers are willing to pay for an iPhone with outdated displays.

The mini’s were excellent phones with their own smaller following. Apple just needed to not expect such huge sales numbers all the time. If they just ordered fewer Mini’s to begin with they never would have had this problem in the first place.
Cut the price by $100 and add ProMotion to the regular iPhones; that will make them sell like hotcakes imo

Mini may not be a cup of tea for most of the consumers, but, the thing is mini was priced $100 lesser then this one, which is even higher than the 14, so looking at the price tag many bought the mini to save some $100 bucks rather spent a $200 more to get a bigger screen and battery
Apple shoud get a common sense than a overpaid marketing team. Who on earth will make their SE series so much pricy and with the same phone from 2020?

The price is what killed the phone. The base 14 should have been $700 and the plus $750 or $800. But no Apple did it their way and it flopped hard.

It’s the price tag. Go up 100 dollars I think it is, and you get a 14 pro with a new chip, which will get you another year of software updates, with a better camera. I got the 14 pro. The only selling point of the Plus is the battery. And honestly, it’s not that good for the price

I do have an iPhone 14 in purple. It is getting fix from my carrier to some place. I’m using a loaner iPhone. An iPhone 14 Pro in purple. I saw the 14 plus in purple and I do liked the color of it. I preferred the smaller sized so that I can put in my pocket in front or in my hoodie pocket.
At this point this year apple will just release 2 iPhone models with the same 6.1 inch form factor since people clearly don’t want to be able to choose
I personally like the plus sized iPhones,the problem is just the price. But i think 14 Plus and the 15 Plus sre great devices since the battery life is so great. They jusy charge way too much for it.
I was actually asked by a network provider if I would be interested in that instead of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and I don’t think I have said “no” quicker. Honestly I’m just not interested in the lesser models, I can see the appeal to some people, but the value isn’t that great when you have a difference of just a hundred or so quid.
I would honestly love to see the mini again, and the price was the problem, when Apple released the 12 mini it startet at 699 like the 11, and the 12 was pushed to 799, the 13 kept the same prices but then they released the 14 at 799 instead of pushing it down to 699 and the plus was 899 (1049 in my country) so In the end it was really the price that was the failure
If it was cheaper it would sell better. But maybe why most people go for at least a pro is because I think the dynamic Island especially it’s rare that idk, paper actually changes the phone and not sell almost the same thing again and again.
