For everyone wondering about the state of the restaurant: Hannah and Mason's closed in February 2010. Chris claimed this was due to less customers, the state of the economy led to the decline of the catering side of the business and Gordon's new menu alienated the loyal customers. He still claims that he does not know where the container or raw and cooked chicken came from and believes it was planted. A few months after filming they returned to the previous menu and changed the decor. Chris said that the airing of the episode did not bring in more customers as he had hoped. After filming Chris was teaching part time at the local college and looking after his children. Chris is currently Associate Research Chef at Pinnacle Foods Corporation. It is rumoured that Brian Kelly was chef at The Lamp Post in Jersey City, NJ in 2010.
He claims that the container was planted when Brian literally said " aw shit that didn't get put away" like he already knew about it. He did it right next to his ear!

If you call yourself a chef and cant cook for shit he's gonna tear your face out. If you are an amateur etc. he will actually very calmly tell you how to cook. You can watch gordon behind bars, he teaches inmates how to cook desserts and has very different approach.
The restaurant closed in 2010 citing several reasons including alienation of past customers via menu change, a downturn in the economy, and a total lack of interest in continuing. Likewise, the owning pair has split, with Chris going on into teaching and later working as a research chef, and Brian moving to Jersey City, New Jersey to cook for another establishment.

Chefs and owners: We don't get enough customers and have asked one of the best chefs in the world for help to keep the business afloat. Also chefs and owners: Our food is great. Our customers love it. (Not particularly just regarding this episode but it's a general pattern in the show)
@Induxvideos hence why it's always aired much later, to give them time to get their shit together. If people's been going to the place after the relaunch and the food is good they'll freaking be back, and stay loyal customers, even after seeing the episode air. It shows how far they've come from that, unless they haven't. On the side, TV and internet buzz literally brings people to the business regardless of whether it's good and bad press. If the salad is rotten, people are gonna come and see if it's really rotten expecting a change, and if it's not and it tastes good, they're gonna tell people, same goes when it's still rotten. The effect of the show is just giving them a second chance, a formula that works, and it's down to them to work it out. It puts the restaurant under a magnifying glass, people see everything good and bad you do, and it's up to them to do the right things. Saying they should set aside some funds to keep the business alive is ridiculous, the show is a freaking business not a charity, everything comes with a trade. They've already pumped enough funds to help them get back on track, why more?
@Induxvideos the issue with paying the debts off and and giving them a makeover is that the same business practices still happen and nothing gets changed. They are just out of debt now, but for how long? It's just adding a bandaid, and over time, with no other change, it'll just happen again. I guess GR gives them a shakeup, showing their disgusting practices on TV is a huge push to do better, especially with the consequence of having to shut down a kitchen, or potentially poisoning someone. GR's pay, I mean, no one needs to make that much money in one go like that, but that's a different convo. Bottom line, if the debt is paid and no other change occurs, then nothing will really change.
@Induxvideos true, not all. But, the majority, certainly. It's more like give a man a fish, and teach a man to fish analogy, though. There is a root cause to the monetary loss, even the surviving restaurants out of the ones GR has covered, had a problem that needed to be rooted out that the people weren't owning up to or couldn't communicate. A good compromise would be to do it off screen. Help out the way he does but without the cameras. In the same way, these people can help themselves and refresh their restaurant business practices by taking a class or something. Part of the petition is the TV aspect of it.
Well, what was good about the reality format was if you could get someone deluded enough to think that they can pass whatever the format is because they are so good. They obviously only pick the most deluded and worst losing money restaurants, where the pressure is highest. It also worked well at first in the US, because nobody knew Gordon and many owners in the early series were that deluded which, adding to not knowing Gordon well, added to the shock and surprise, apart from we have many more swear-words than you, because we sent a bunch of religious extremists over there to not ever have to think about them again, which is why you're all so hung up on swearing and abortion still, when literally no one else in the developed world is. So using commonplace insults like pillock and the scandalised reaction of owners had the extra cachet at first. This would be despite the fact that the Us version has a lot less swearing and Gordon rehabilitates his image a lot more as a nice guy after all, and there are all the hokey sound effects all the time in this version. But the actual contrived format is Gordon comes in and has something on the menu, is, if possible sick, or as near as possible to sick with the first meal, a lot of swearing to camera about it that is often bleeped out for some reason. Then Gordon looks in the fridge and places for old stock or bad health and safety practices, effectively creating problems to then solve them, exactly like Trump did, an old marketing schtick. Then hopefully Gordon can troll the owner into confronting him from being defensive, I mean shit, he invariably finds environmental health fails, even when there were none there, just to get the owner or manager madly defensive about it, if the manager or owner does not freak out, Gordon will, but because he cares, tough love. In the end, it was difficult, but because Gordon is tough but fair, everyone has a group hug. He can even go back and show what a top restauranteur he was by showing the improvements, or by showing how they went wrong by not following him while establishing his brand and half-arsed restaurants in the US, which tanked anyway, it's not that difficult or even that subtle.
Notice how this was a Valentines episode, and everything Gordon references with Brian is about a lack of Passion and Heart. It's a well written episode.

For everyone wondering about the state of the restaurant:
Hannah and Mason's closed in February 2010.
Soo years later he still didn't get it????
Brian literally said he forgot to throw away the chicken😭, they're really trying to avoid accountability...
Wow... What a sad story.
He claims that the container was planted when Brian literally said " aw shit that didn't get put away" like he already knew about it. He did it right next to his ear!
Ironic that Brian got a chef job at a place with the word Lamp in it.
I'm starting to have trust issue with restaurants after binge watching Kitchen Nightmares
Honestly same. It has been 3 weeks since I've bought food from restaurants
While you can't walk into the kitchen and freezer, you can have a look into the restrooms before you order. If they are not clean (and i mean SPOTLESS) i am outta here. If they are not cleaned, nothing is. I'm not playing dice with death-chicken.

You should - trust me.
i basically incorporated british accent and begin to chastice restaurant owners constantly. Free food is good food.
Can we appreciate how Gordon only goes after the people who cook the food and never the servers and is actually kind to them unlike most Karen’s out there
Because they're not at fault
If you call yourself a chef and cant cook for shit he's gonna tear your face out. If you are an amateur etc. he will actually very calmly tell you how to cook. You can watch gordon behind bars, he teaches inmates how to cook desserts and has very different approach.
Well you learn how much crap the servers get because of the kitchen once you're in the industry. But yea, mad respect for Gordon.
@@diddlenfiddle7311 literally

Agreed, stay and watch the drama, then leave and go eat somewhere else

Absolutely hilarious the cut to Brian eating the local apples after Gordon leaves his face

It genuinely p*sses me off because of the fact they don’t acknowledge that Gordon is ONE OF THE GREATEST CHEFS IN THE WORLD and just treat him like a normal customer
I really dont get that mentality. Like, dude, the guy has multiple Micheline stars, you dont get those by just being OK.
@Induxvideos I haven't seen that, will give it a go, thanks
