3 years later... :) Another way is to set up an Automation in the iPhone's 'Shortcut' app to turn on the phone's hotspot when your phone connects to the Android unit's Bluetooth. You can also add a 'turn on hotspot' shortcut to the home page or even *lock screen* of your iPhone if it disconnects. Useful if you need the full bandwidth of your internet connection.
Does it also add “Ethernet” thing somewhere near WiFi and Bluetooth in iPhone settings menu, or is it just mine doing a weird thing? I don’t understand why it would create an Ethernet

New Android 9 head unit installed this afternoon. At first it found my iPhone's hotspot. Entered password and then it disappeared. I'm guessing the headunit can only do 2.4ghz and not 5. What do you think? I was able to use my Galaxy's hot spot after I configured it to 2.4ghz
Wait a min. So I can share my Bluetooth hot spot to the android and enable data sharing. So if I understood it correctly, that means my car android will have internet using my phone unlimited data without sharing my network hotspot and running out of data?

@@ZeroTo60Tube I’ve been running a 4G SIM card in it to date that works a treat for data, but if I try and make a call from android auto it tries to do it from the data sim rather than my phone (which is paired via Bluetooth). I presume android auto on yours would call from your phone?
There didn’t seem like there was much interest and other things were more important to get done. And about a month after this xtrons released the new model so it become irrelevant real quick. Been thinking about upgrading to a new Oled screen version lately.

Good morning. I'm either being incredibly dumb (highly probable!) or I'm missing something? I can now get my iPhone to act as a hotspot (had to disable my Roadangel dashcam first though, as it was taking preference!!) but the head unit needs to be told to search for internet connections every time I switch the ignition off and back on again!! this thing is unbelievable, but my word is it irritating!!! also as a side note, i don't suppose you've covered "sleep mode" in a video by chance ?
My problem with using my iPhone as a hotspot is that iPhones require me to go to the phone's "Personal Hotspot" screen and toggle the hotspot off/on every single time I got in the car - as I'm working with delivery, I must have do it 50 times a day and wait some time until the head unit get the signal. I want to be able to just get in the car, not have to touch my phone and have the Head Unit grab my hotspot right away. Any idea?
I used to be able to do this. But recently the bluetooth net symbol keeps blinking and it wont connect to my internet. Anyone has any solutions to this?? 😭
How do you get your unit to load instantly. Mine has to load the android software every time. I have found that the manual that came with the unit is well useless.

All the iphone needs is to be paired to the xtrons bluetooth. The factory settings i normally use to turn off the radio app, and then there are settings for reverse cam as well, which are handy. I would greatly avoid the touch screen settings. On one of my old units i messed up the calibration of the touch screen somehow, and it took ages to correct it.

Mate, just get one of those USB dongle-shaped wifi dongles that the Aussie telcos used to sell. Not one of the small standalone cellular wifi ones with the battery inside. Plug it into a cigarette lighter to USB adapter and it’ll turn on when you start the car, and turn off when you turn off the car. I had one of those in my previous car when I had an Android head unit. Worked flawlessly every time.

It doesnt, this is non 3g/4g model. Unfortunately non of the china androids seem to work with out australian networks anyway.

No manual was included with the headunit I bought. How would I know the factory settings code?
