Thx for great topic / video. Awesome. IMHO : One of best brake pads for 6 piston brembo I see PAGID 8005. These pads are opening the doors for track usage your subaru with this brembo setup.
Wow those calipers are huge. Id be honored to feel that brake pedal lol. Eventually I want to get the new wheels and the big brakes but the ol pockets are quite deep enough yet.
I put some stoptech brembos on my NA forester and they do everything I could ask of them. Haven't tracked the car but after driving my car my teammate said we may have to switch the CTSV calipers on the race car. Then we started burning up wheel bearings. Hoping the set of floating rotors and STI hubs with the larger bearings will solve this issue, had no brakes at the end of our last race due to pad knock back from completely toasted front wheel bearings. NA 98 forester kept up with a track prepped 370Z for a few hours though!
Yes I did the same thing legacy 08 legacy h6 rear brakes are 11.44”diameter the best bang for buck mod you could ever do lol. I spend 40 bucks for a bunch of new looking used parts from a junk yard and swapped right into my 85 rx turbo sti motor swap, 08 jdm hatch everything else but the 89 xt6 rear hubs once modified with the ej backing plate can ru man the same brakes from the legacy gt/h6 as a tuner I force my cars to do this mod, especially anything over 300 wheel hp
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. That is certainly true. The brackets are fairly light, but they would add a bit of weight (about 1 to 1.5 lbs) to those calipers. The Alcon and AP are still going to be the lightest 2 options in terms of calipers. The fact that both of those kits have 2-piece rotors also save a bunch of weight compared to the OE 1 piece rotors. Here is the video I put together when I put the AP kit on my WRX: th-cam.com/video/kQw4c_2jzfg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wcRnbDpkQA4sNb-_ Basically, the full AP kit weights as much in total (calipers, brackets, and rotors) as the Subaru 4-Pots, but gives you the stopping power of the Brembos. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
Thanks for watching! The Brembo Gold caliper weighed just over 8 lbs, very similar to the larger Brembo 6-piston caliper. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
So it sounds like for my daily 19 STi my best option is to not mess with them unless I start tracking it? What about other pads? My first maintenance at the dealership the manager told me to start saving up for my brakes from day 1 because of the cost. BTW the quality of these videos are what pushes me to buy from your shop versus the others which don't add much beyond the most basic information. It seems more like you are a shop that values integrity and stocking what you believe in rather than what's hot or has the biggest profit margins
your 19 sti sti the top of the shelf, yea did you not spend enough getting it? yea its ready for the track go track it before you think about empty walleet. A helmet and harness costt enoiugh, a full bucket and brackets $$$$$$$ there ya gooo forget brakes till you find the edge of your cars abilities. seat time.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. OEM brake pads and rotors for the Brembo 6-piston brakes are definitely quite expensive. Now that time has gone on, there are less expensive aftermarket options that are still high quality. G-Lock pads or Hawk pads will offer very good performance, but at a fraction of the cost of the OEM pads. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
Absolutely! Take a look at this video that we did a few years ago: th-cam.com/video/NY5-8AXretA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rzcQFdY1vRt5zpBl Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!
Hi, do you know if there is a fitment template for the TR 6-pots? Or, if not, do you know how far the calipers protrude over the contact surface between disc and wheel? I have 2 sets of 18 inch wheels and both won't clear 4 pot brembos because the caliper is too wide and would interfere with the wheel spokes.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. If the 18" wheels you have won't clear Brembo 4-pots, then they would not clear these either. They are very similar in width, but the 6-piston calipers sit further out in the wheel. I'd recommend trying to confirm that the wheel you want to run will fit a 2019 - 2021 STI. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
Thanks for watching and thanks for your question. The motorsports Brembo kits are very good, but also quite expensive. Something like this kit will perform very well on track: www.flatironstuning.com/brembo-race-front-4-pot-05-sti-cast-2-piece Brembo rotors and calipers are very high quality, but Brembo is very hesitant to re-build anything. Including calipers. That is why we found the AP kits because they can be fully serviced here in the US. With the support that AP Racing and Alcon have compared to Brembo, they have just been a better value for us. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
A few years ago, we did put ST40's on our Pikes Peak car, and we had decent luck with them. But they weren't really much better than factory Brembos. Pad availability was worse and the main benefit was the 2-piece rotors. The Stoptech Trophy kits are all right, but at most price points, there are better kits in terms of value and performance available. I'd pick any of the kits that we discussed in the video over an equivalent Stoptech kit for those reasons. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!
Thanks for your question. While we don't work on those cars, the principals are largely the same. If you are limited by wheel size, then you would want to pick a kit based on its ability to handle and/or dissipate heat. If you are tracking the car, then looking at the consumable cost is really important. Don't just look at the cost of the kit. You need to see what pad availability is like, what the cost of replacement pads and rotors are, etc. Hope that helps and Stay Tuned!

Golden brembos are nice, but man, it makes getting wheels pain in the butt on a 2004 STI Forester.
Thanks for including the weights of each!
Absolutely! Stay Tuned!
The AP and Alcon need the adaptor since they are an excentric mount caliper. You have to take the weight of that into consideration.

You missed AP's Radical calipers...6 piston, 355mm, fits under some 17" wheels!
No Wilwoods on the table? Is Stoptech completely gone?
So if I understand correctly, those GR STI brembos do fit under the stock 17” GR WRX wheels?
Thanks for your question. No, they will not fit under the 17" wheels, but they will fit under the 18" WRX wheels.
