Oh no, another boggy XLT! Lol Between Lonnie, Dennis and yourself I think you guys have covered all the ways to have a boggy XLT! It’s great stuff to have on video for everyone, lots to learn from. Thanks John! Brapfest looks like a great time! Sorry to hear that it’s coming to an end 🤷🏻♂️. How come?
Might as well throw in the typical XLT hood filter clogged with snow creating a bog too lol. Ours both did that often in the deep snow Sorry about that, I never got into the comments on the Brapfest video. Such a shame though, that looks like a great time! Maybe someone else will pick it up🤷🏻♂️. Looks like a great draw for a bar to have! Cheers
Oh those triples... I've found with these xlt's when they bog problems can be. Spark plugs, ignition coil's, dirt in carb, and the famous needle and seat leak.
Hey man, good to see the success your channel has brought. Glad you stuck with it, even have patrons now, wow I don't have that lol. Would love to see some Jeep snow wheeling. We're finally getting our February snow out here in Washington but fortunately nobody has any snow sleds. Keep up the good work bud.
I just picked up a sweet 3k mile triple triple ultra, great condition any inherit problems with these sleds ? Sub here love all info you guys provide. It's a 96
I haven't seen you working with liquid or fan 488s, but I'm going to ask anyway; Do you have any idea what causes bogging when the temperature hits 30 or higher? My brother-in-law's '98 Super Sport would bog out if he stopped and restarted the motor within a couple of minutes. Keep the rpms up, we'd keep rolling. Idle at a crossing too long... more bogging. My '98 500 Classic started doing the same thing the next day. If you let them cool down and restart them, they work fine. Are you familiar with the general condition or cause for this? When temps are below 30, we do not have this bogging at all.
Hi Kenneth, You need to jet for the day. The Grape Ape was less than ideal when I was making this video for the same reason - they get fat when it gets warm. A quick check is to pull off the air box and if things get better you know its jetting. Dropping the needles down one notch and opening the idle air screws a half a turn are the quick trail fixes but I normally find they don't get it all the way there.
There's no videos. To pull the clutch you just take off the bolt. If it's stuck to the jack shaft try some Kroil. Can't release the belt is a different problem. Get a friend to hold the brakes and you can grab the inside sheave and twist it clockwise and push to open the clutch. If the sled has been sitting for a long time the belt might be stuck to the clutch so try working that around.
Have you checked your belt/sheave clearance! I always adjust mine no more than 0.020"
Thanks for what you do Nutter.

Thanks Rob. I bet we will find more ways to make an XLT get boggy LOL. I answered that question about Braapfest in the comments on that video.

The list is long.

I'm not aware of any special weakness for an Ultra. If it was mine I'd just do the normal stuff I do to every vintage sled.
If that got that red secondary spring change it out for silver or silver blue spring
Crank seal?
LOL

@@nuttersspeedshop Thank you sir! Appreciate your help!
Do you have any videos on pulling a secondary clutch out of an xlt? I cant release the belt on my sled. The secondary doesnt want to move
