- Do you REALLY need to spend thousands of dollars on a new snowmobile? How does a $1,000 snowmobile compare to a $20,000 snowmobile?
I bought a 20 year old snowmobile (2003 Polaris RMK 700 151 track) and we're going to truly put it to the test to see where you can actually go on a cheap snowmobile vs an expensive snowmobile. Snowmachining doesn't get any more fun than this!

I have my first sled I bought new a 97 Yamaha 600 SX and it runs great! I also have a 2002 Yamaha SXViper 144" and a 2004 Yamaha SXViper and finally a Yamaha Vector four Stroke 136" 2005! I ride every year and they never fail me! I have never even blown a belt on one of these sleds! Maintenance my Man!
Love it! I ride the same sled but '05. I need to ditch my Simmons skis hardcore. for this type of riding.
I have a 2003 600HO Rev Beavertail the one that started the modern sled revolution. Still jams in the trees.

Powder heaven. Wish I were there, especially for a thousand bucks. That sled looks light and maneuverable, perfect for that deep powder. As an answer to the post preceeding mine. This is the third time I've purposely watched this particular video. All mountain deep snow sleding looks the same if you ask me. That's fine.
Your riding ability made that RMK look go. Not everyone can do that.

That is an awesome sled I owned one of those 700’s with a 144 20 years ago and really liked it. Super reliable plenty of power to go and seriously ride the powder and mountains. Takes a little more skill than these new sleds take to ride but it will take you pretty much anywhere u want to go and be a blast getting there. The 700 was really better than the 800 of the time. Highly highly recommend one of these to get into the sport or even if you have been riding a long time

Makes me miss the XC 700 I had a few years ago. Loved the way it sounded and it ran fantastic. Unfortunately life got in the way and I sold it. Hopefully I’ll get another in the near future.

I have 16 sr viper mtx 162 winded ( 400hp ) 15 sr viper ltx 137 winded ( 240 ) and i preffer my mod sled 02 Sno Pro bulkhead , m cat 144 tunnel, custom skid , 12 xf rails , 02 sno pro components, 700 Redhead Yamaha triple motor ... 97 zr body ... carves like a dream in 3" of snow

I had one of these (but it was an 800). It was an okay sled but it didn't handle nearly as well as the M7 I also rode. I didn't keep the RMK very long.

That 700 edge will run circles around any modern sled in a race on flat ground, probably more…. , sleds made in the present are mt only imo the 02 polars xc so will decimate all
I’m currently rockin a 95 summit 583 I picked up for $300. But 10 - 15 year old sleds these days are very affordable tho and very capable. If someone wants to get into the sport it’s easier than ever in my opinion.

I went riding in Cooke City in 2015 and the one guy had an F7 Firecat 12 or 13 years old at the time that guy outrode everyone on brand new sleds. guys on brand new ski-doos and polaris would make high marks and he'd beat them every time.
i just paid 270 for 2 snowmobiles non running got one running within 2 days

Looks like you got a great deal. Over here in the Telluride Co area we have got tons of snow this year. I might be moving back to Washington. Alaskan Marine ferry fishing trips again! I might hate the Anchorage area but the rest of Ak is amazing. Haven't had a good fish to eat since I left.
Prety much every sled in that year range has a nada of about $1k..but everyone thinks they have gold.

I wish I could use some epic mainstream music sometimes, I just use what I have a license to.

Find it funny how all you vloggers like to say how not everybody can afford them new snowmobiles but yet all I ever see when I'm out there every single winter is everybody on a brand new snowmobile and I'm always on a 10 year old one only because I can't justify 16k for something that sits more then I ride and when it snows I am riding everyday except weekends.

I lived in Anchorage from 64 to 2002 and Are you drove past Turnagonarm on the way to kenai hundreds of times , but sadly never got to go back that far, my loss.

700 is a good power plant but definitely not their most reliable engine that is by far the fuji 500cc have had multiple fuji 500s cross 9500 miles and never rebuilt none of my 700s made it past about 6000 miles
The 700 is every bit as reliable as the 500 and makes 40 more hp , don't be stunned like Willard
