My wife was saying the other day, of I had to work on your snowmobile as much as you I wouldn’t ride. As we all know, that’s not what its all about. Great times in the shop! Cheers fellas!
My son is working on his triple and had bog issues. We saw your video and doubted that cleaning out the fuel tank and lines would fix the big issue but IT WORKED! Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
Ethanol in the gas ate the fuel line right off, does it on small engines even worse,my buddy works in tree industry they started having 3/4 month old saws crap out from the fuel n drop the filter in bottom of tank leading to poor running, the old fuel lines in those sleds weren't designed to hold up to that caustic junk.
I'm sitting trying to calculate how long it would take me to do all the work you guys did together in 2 days. Final answer? Riding another sled until next year. Great job guys!
For what I invested in my 700 switchback , I could have bought new top of the line ! Old School is Cool , wish I could put a WEDGE on it ! Had a clear lexon hood on my 1998 XC700 , 220 jugs , psi center dump exhaust , see your motor !
Oh ? It Bogs ! My brain said boogie wheels , that’s a bunch of money to replace them all plus add the 4th wheel in the back , plus the front skid little wheels for the Wahl Bros drivers , and two extra on the rails , easier on the slides ,
Way to go guys! She seems a lot happier now! “Make sure you don’t touch the sides” perfect time for a “that’s what she said” joke! Just sayin lol How about the electrical issues? What happened to the Grape Ape? Looks like the temp light came on? Have fun at Triple Wars guys!!!
I just got a XLT for cheap the other day. I'm debating fixing it up or doing something else with the engine. My tank was worse that yours but it ran and burned off the old gas. Lots of cutting corners. But I needed to see what it could do. Now I know that its guzzling the fuel and the clutch side cylinder isn't working. I swapped the wires with the middle one and it works. It also died after a while and had no spark. It cooled off and fired up again. There is some issues that I need to fix before I decide to keep it or not.
Thanks for posting! I just got the same sled, its been sitting for 20 years and I'm sure I'll be facing the same issues that you guys have. I just got done cleaning the carbs, but I can see the tank is full of gunk and all the fuel lines are going to need to be replaced. I'll be replacing the belt too, but what other things should I be looking out for on one of these XLT's that's been sitting for a long time?
@@nuttersspeedshop I've been working my way through your 1993 playlist. it's literally the same sled I've got sitting in my garage, thanks so much for pointing me to it!
Hey did you guys add a oiler hole to your block pto crank bearing. Which year did polaris mark the correction. I have 2 xlts and don't want to spin that bearing. I've seen a video where they drilled block and ran a line to the oil pump. They tapped into the pump. Keep the videos coming.
We bought case halves and oil pump to add the 4th line back when we first put this sled together a year ago. There's a whole playlist on this sled and you can find it in there. I didn't do it to mine or Lonnie's. Seems like a great idea but a lot of XLTs lived long lives without it.
If your pulling the drives ! Why not put on Wahl Bros drivers ? I did ! My 1998 XLT gets 13 MPG , slower than my hot rod 2004 SLP Performance Edition & catalog complete Switchback 700 , but that’s 9 MPG ! Slydog skis , 1.25 track , no studs , a snake through the trees where I live !

Pretty sure 97 is the first year of the factory extra oil line

Wahl bros drives are expensive and not needed for a trail sled. They are great, but we throw enough money at these things.
@@nuttersspeedshop I hear THAT band playing my tune!
200 hours plus into the 700 , dealer labor would have been 20K , good to wrenches and fingers !
Have ?
