The bags fall apart and they limit many repairs after 5 years BUT we can raise the price because it won't go out of style. Gaslighting oxymoron style. Honestly, it's not worth the money. You can't argue it's a closet staple with no comprehensive aftercare and substandard quality. Why doesn't he explain why the hardware is not gold plated anymore but the price keeps increasing. Chanel needs to go back to the entire iconic manufacturing process. So tired of hearing it's made like a jacket to justify the ridiculous prices.

I broke up with Chanel bags years ago. They can charge 20k for a classic flap for all I care. It is pure greed. And the designs just bore me now. You are right their lambskin bags are crap and yes I have lamb bags from other brands (Dior and Fendi) that don't have a mark on them, but how nice of him to educate us on how delicate lamb is lol. For whatever reason though their lamb slgs have help up well. I wish my husband bought me new bags to unbox weekly, must be nice ha ha!

I have a book with the Chanel bags prices in late 90's and early 2000's they were much affordable but people was not going crazy for them back then.
Blame it on the influencers and their social media platforms from the last 8-10 years. Before they began hyping up these luxury brands, there were only a select few clientele that had these items. 🤦🏾♀️

That girl math justification was valid until 2020. Leather weathering/falling off, metal hardware chipping off DOES NOT justify whatever price they wanna hike it up to. And the execs have the audacity to try to explain it to us as if we're idiots It's ridiculous. IMO People who care about the price increases already moved on to other brands. Thats why the reaction is less than it used to be. IMO People who still buy the new handbags from boutique are not driven by quality first. They are driven by brand first. Its a different kind of customer with significant disposable income.
But even the ones with extreme disposable income and desire for flaunting the logos must surely sooner or later realize that the price-quality ratio are not really fair allegedly?
@@SuperDacob I think there is an allure to being invited to events etc and being one of the elite. They still have an emotional attachment to the brand which bypasses other things. I think once that passes then behaviour may change.

Lambskin is more prone to getting damaged by wear and tear, but it ages better than caviar, if used with care. Caviar has a coating on top of the calf leather, it is not a natural coating material. Therefore, it does not ages greatly.

Years ago, I bought my 1st luxury bag - The Jumbo Single Flap. I went into Chanel a few yrs ago because the strap squeaks & I barely carry it. The young S.A. opened the bag, took one look at it & turned away telling the older S.A. - "it's only a single flap". The older S.A. was courteous, but couldn't do anything. It was as though I was bringing in a dirty paper bag. After I bought that purse, I moved on to Hermes and Goyard (I really love them, even though they're not popular). I thought that I'd pick up a red Chanel patent leather clutch. After that, I thought "I am done". And I am. I dress well, nothing casual when shopping luxury. I felt terrible after that experience.
Save your money and proudly rock your fake CC. That should be the new trend. Most people do not know the difference. Vintage is the new trend anyway and the ultra wealthy could care less. Give them the middle finger.

Chanel was not in style for the masses when I got into it around 2007. I just loved the style of the flap. It was so me. They were considered a granny bag by most. I literally purchased a medium classic flap on the resale market for $100. No one wanted them until the phenomenon of social media influence. Then suddenly everyone wanted to keep up with the Jones’s and luxury goods and styles became more mainstream. It makes me sad. People want it just because, not because they truly love the style.

The status of an Hermes bag is way different than that of a Chanel bag. If Chanel is trying to cater towards the Hermes client then it’s not going to work out well for them. Yes, Chanel is a couture brand with couture style bags but that doesn’t justify them raising their prices to match that of Hermes which is an equestrian brand that found a vulnerability in clients who seek to show off their status. Those clients will not make the move towards Chanel because the whole world has already recognized that owning an Hermes bag signifies high status. Chanel will not be able to cater to clients who seek to show off their high status because those clients would rather purchase an Hermes bag over a Chanel bag in order to accomplish that outcome.
