Very well said Dacob. The jig is up! More people need to discuss how there actually is a quantifiable backlash effecting bottom lines. Customers ultimately have a lot more power than we think. It's laughable to me that brands like Burberry thought they could try and rebrand themselves as the crème de la creme, that too solely by increasing prices AND decreasing quality. How do these execs have such little self awareness about their standing in the market? Even Chanel doing this is crazy (and it has impacted their customer service to the point where I will now not buy even another lipstick from them until things change lol). Their strategies also reek of arrogance. Just because the super wealthy can afford Chanel bags and rtw as often as they like, does not mean they will continue to ignore poor quality. This demographic especially, do not want to be seen in poor stitching and interlocking cc's hanging on by a thread, and the very few that will put up with it, are not going to make up for the overall sales that are being lost as a result. A few more thoughts that came to my mind: -The so-called champagne era only helped those at the very top (+ the egos of certain SAs who enjoy cosplaying as gate keepers). It would be nice if we all collectively stopped and forced them to lower prices!😂 it would be so funny. The price increases have been extremely insane since 2020!!! I remember 2018…I bought my LV bumbag for $1500…something of that size brand new from the store now is like $2700-3000 USD!
yeah that's deflation that's happening, we'd had recently in banking the lowest inflationary conditions for 5000 years (yes thousands) which means interest rates will shoot up - lots of companies will go bust, I wonder if any luxury ones will? but deflation can affect unnecessary goods like handbags
When you talked about the end of “luxury”, it just occurred to me that I can’t name one independent fashion designer anymore. Even Dries Van Noten has sold although he is still creative director. The way I see it, luxury is related to art, and art is related to independence.
Dacob!! BRAVO, this has to be your best video yet. You are completely on point! When did it become cool to have something everyone else has? Some of these youtubers are so lame. They have nothing else in their lives but an expensive bag. I agree with you, the jig is up. BTW you take nothing with you when you leave this earth. Health, family, friends and live are SO much more important.
Speak it honey everyone is wearing the same damn thing the row bag the birkin the Kelly omg it’s boring and overdone that’s why I support and love your channel because you actually make meaningful content keep it up ♥️😘♥️
I agree with you on the bags being pushed again by chanel, yes the runway was full of them (which it usually isnt) but also when you go in store the sales associate numerous times had boasted the quality is better than other fashion houses and the new policy to repair your classic flap.
The heritage houses just aren’t cutting it for me. The creativity and quality across the board has declined so much. That why I prefer contemporary brands or brands from Latin America or Asia to keep my wardrobe fresh.
Been binge watching your videos since finding your channel last week. I’ve learned a lot and had many laughs. I currently don’t own any luxury but after listening to you about LV canvas, I’m thinking of buying the bag I’ve always wanted -the Neverfull(sorry I know it’s not your favourite). My question is, should I buy it now before any price increase or wait if the quality may improve. I’m confused!

The magic is gone. I walked into LV store and feel rushed they don’t even offer water anymore. That feeling of luxury is gone. Same with Chanel and all those brands.
Sorry to double comment, but omg what you said about these luxury TH-camrs is SO true!! I was just talking to one of my girlfriends about this! It's wild how all of these aspiring luxury fashion influencers are buying the exact same items and treating these purchases as though they're groundbreaking fashion pieces. Honey, I've seen so many Chanel flaps at this point that I'm dreaming of interlocking C's. 😂
Well said Dacob. Those influencers don't have any style of their own IMO. They just follow the herd and tick the boxes off the luxury list of what items you're supposed to have to be included in the club. It's all very boring and predictable and NOT inspiring at all. It's much more interesting and attractive if you can mix it up a bit and combine luxury with non luxury and/or not so well known brands. Money can't buy you class and it can't buy you originality and confidence either...
Funny thing is- you’re someone that I’d love to hear on a podcast, have your ever thought of making ur channel available as a podcast? Could increase your reach? I only listen to them when I go to the grocery store or long drive or something, bc I prefer the video variety… but I get why there’s a lot of ppl that can’t watch them like that. However, I’d choose your content to stream while doing chores arnd the house, or while in the shower, etc., I’m usually a true crime girly but have a lil space for quicky pods in-betwixt by activities IF they’re good 😉🥰
I've said for many years that high-end luxury fashion is also "fast fashion", just at astronomical prices and price increases. Greetings from Los Angeles
you’re so right, I was laughing so hard 😂 we don’t need more of that! I really need to get off social media cause sometimes I think I get influenced without noticing it. I really want to experiment what I will really like if I don’t have anyone shove it in my face all the time.
It's a multi-faceted issue. I'm not rich by any means, but I love a fancy bag, and I would have continued to buy from high-end brands (slowly) if they hadn't gotten way too big for their britches and thought we would all pay 5x the price in as many years. A loyal customer is not always the one throwing around massive amounts of cash. But these brands managed to alienate their reliable customer base. I also think the advent of fast fashion has hit luxury brands hard. Back in the 80s and 90s, a working class woman might invest in one good bag for all seasons. Now, customers feel no incentive to invest in these luxury brands because one trend is here and gone in a matter of months! Who in their right mind is going to buy a 5k dollar bag every 4 months?! Even rich people with sense don't do that.
I had to add something else!!! You pronounced your T's!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am SO SICK of hearing people dropping the "T" in words - perfect analogy: Imporant - You gave the perfect example. What is it with that? A big ick for me.
Thanks for this interesting news Dacob. I also noticed, suddenly Chanel perfumes are available on Fragrancenet, and their prices are five to ten dollars higher than Nordstom and Chanel boutique. Does that mean Fragrancenet has older batch codes with higher quality juice, than the watered down stuff the Werthemer's are trying to get rid of?
Price is supposed to be inherently linked with quality and craftsmanship. If the quality and care aren't there anymore, then the prestige they are trying to convey with the high price tag is completely artificial, which is not prestigious, just goofy and sad. I think they let the mask slip by revealing that quality and price aren't connected in their minds anymore. There's another channel I like, I think called My Perspective, where she talks a lot about this phenomenon in luxury where prices increase while quality noticeably decreases. She also talks a lot about mid-range brands that have a lot of the high quality people are looking for, with much more reasonable prices. Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates those goofy little microphones.
My goodness! On the nose Dacob! I’m starting to get sick of influencers unboxing the same ole’ thang! I was never a fan of fashion cloning because it really loses its individuality! Plus what the heck with the sponsors that are not even at par with the level of what they unboxed! Usually I fast forward the video and when I see that another same ole’ same ole’ unboxing, I just leave from watching the channel. It’s really is starting to be a “deadly bore” and these influencers think we are still interested in another content that 100 other TH-camrs unbox! Your content is very informative and thought provoking! I hope if these luxury brands cease to decrease their prices, at least have a long pause to simply prolong their next price increase. And yes you are right that Chanel’s recent show had every model wear a bag! So thats their strategy… 🖤🤍🖤
So…as of March 27, last time I checked the Lous Vuitton website because I’ve had my eye on the Side Trunk, they actually increased the prices yet again. So I don’t think LV got the memo on this one. It’s business as usual on the price increases 😅
I went to Chanel store in Singapore and it was literally few people not like before you have to q for 4 hours. And then I asked why is it so quiet is it because of price increase? SA said no it’s because all the hot items sold out and it’s a weekday.. lol but I remember even during the weekdays it was crazy q
I think these new tubers that have nothing to offer are doing this purely for the gain…..they get their fashion shopping paid for through tax exemptions. And the cheap sponsorships add to that balance sheet. That keeps hubby off their back about all mindless shopping . And having subscribers validates their non existence☝️
I appreciated your information on the price hikes. However, the other content was a bit of a turn-off for me. I don't particularly care about what people or influencers do with their money. If someone loves the orans or the Van Cleef pendant, then let them be. Luxury essentially boils down to the production quantity of an item. I believe we've collectively inflated the concept of luxury, turning it into a status and judgment-driven thing. It's supposed to be enjoyable. I especially enjoy when you discuss the luxury houses without necessarily criticizing these influencers.
I think Rolex‘s move is smart. Due to the world economic situation (inflation, recession) people invest their money in other assets as real estate, gold stocks, high high end cars which are very difficult to get their hand on. Therefore objects like high end hand bags fall back in their luxury list. Very „hard time“ for their spouses 😢.
I’ve been saying this for years. These women married to high earning husbands spending tonnes of money on luxury. They don’t even choose anything original just copying other influencers. I think they are justifying their spending to hubby by convincing him that they’re buying / investing for business reasons (the channel) thus the cringey ads.
Preach, Dacob! The boredom of fashion influencer conformity is real. Another beige bag with gold hardware, the same bracelets, the same shoes, the same sponsors. Ugh. And can we stop with the neutral “investment” colors? We need more Iris Apfels, people that take chances and have actual creativity & style.
omg dacob you are spot on the luxury influencer 😂😂 alright I gotta say about this one particular channel. I followed her bcos she has that quintessential Pinterest aesthetic. all of her videos are just soooo nice to watch. but sometimes in my mind, she's so basic to the point she has all those birkin, kelly, classic flap, rimowa suitcase, cartier bracelet +rings, van cleef necklace. she's so predictable lmfao. she has blonde hair, her outfit also something you can found on Pinterest board. like she is THAT girl ya know. she has the old money background as well. I can only live vicariously thru her, I could never afford her lifestyle. but I'm so nosy and it's fun to watch them
In other words, she has you wrapped around her little finger. Cuz the nosy part of you is your downfall since… well… hate to break it to ya but those type of people NEVER let you see anything more than what they want you to see and stage whatever they want you to see in a way to always make it look like you will find out more about them the more you watch… but in reality, a hundred videos in and you will still never be the wiser and you will not know anything more about them than you did after having watched the first video. Its a vicious circle… where you do not learn anything new but you waste your time… especially after many days and many hours spent watching what turns out to be the same content over and over and over and over again… you lost your time while that person earned money off your time watching them. The pay off is not worth it to me personally because I want more for my time, especially since I will never get that lost time back again. To each their own of course. This is just my opinion only. 💖💖💖
Oh, to get back the time I wasted until i figured out that it's a cycle. They wish, buy, sensually peel off packaging like it's a strip-tease culminating in near-orgasmic glee when they peel off a hardware sticker, wear it maybe once or twice, discover (AGAIN!) that reality didn't live up to the hype, and then VLOG SALE!! -- repeat ad infinitum. Ugh, it's all so gross.@@SuperDacob

I especially enjoy when you discuss the luxury houses without necessarily criticizing these influencers.
Easy solution: if my content is a turn off to you, then just turn it off and wugo wugo.
P.S. And I am not a homophobic person. My bests male friends always been gays, but they are older men , with some class.
Sponsored by Tupperware 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 omg
Thanks god! Our wallet dictate the prices.
🤣😂 "how many stinky feet do I have to watch on TH-cam?"
😅🤣🤣🤣💖
Lol😂...that was hilarious, pedicure that needs a cure.
This whole video is a meme 😂. Everything you’ve said is true
Never touch a plate … so skinny 😂
Analy microphone 🎤 Hahah 😂😂😂
omg dacob you are spot on the luxury influencer 😂😂 alright I gotta say about this one particular channel.
@@SuperDacob THIS!!!!
" I want more for my time " yes. @@SuperDacob
I completely 💯 agree with you. That’s why luxury has become fast fashion. I am totally sick of theme too. Those unboxings are so toxic.
My name is Linda. I agree and enjoy almost everything you say. Whenever you say Listen Linda it makes me feel like a Karen.
If I meant Karen, I would have said Listen Karen! But I didn’t 😉
There is a super viral video from many years ago called Listen Linda about a little boy arguing with his mom or grandma named Linda. It’s hilarious.
Every time I heard listen Linda it makes me laugh 😆.
