    Kids laughing and playing in the background is not noise to us, but an indication that the children's joy filled needs are being met. Laughter is infectious and gets us chuckling along...

      Maybe start with an RV. I bought mine off of Facebook Marketplace for $2800 (Florida). It has 2 bedrms. I purchased 5 acres of land and am in the process of clearing it soon. Step by step. Slow and steady is key. You go this!

    My sister called me one day and told me that she put baking soda around her plants and home and it killed off all the weeds for up to 6 months. I have not tried it as yet. But I did get a large bag at Sam's club. So I am going to try it around my fence in the spring after the threat of frost is gone. Take care and God bless you and yours.I really like the comment by the one below me. It just goes to show the love and light of God in your marriage. Keep up your faith in God. That love also shines through your children.

    When we started out we looked at buying a yurt but the ones we priced were way out of our range. We tried instead to build a round house with straw bale walls and cob thermal mass. Ran out of time before bad weather set in that winter and ended up living in a friend’s 5th wheel instead for a while. In the end, we built a pole barn and later renovated it into our home. Love thinking (& living) outside the box! So cool you call a yurt home!!

    hi guys. i grew up in whittier, calif. we had a small 2 bedroom home. parents in one and 3 kids in the other. we did have some land. we raised goats, rabbits, and chickens and pets. so my dad built us a room the size of an average bedroom with windows, door etc. he put storage benches in it, a blackboard and bins for our toys. once built we were then no longer allowed to play inside the outside. i lived in what we called our 'play house.' i would get my lunch and eat out there. and sometimes even dinner. i loved it. even during the winters and cold i was out there. it is the fondest memory i have growing up. my dad built us an outdoor fountain made our of boulders like you used to find in mt. parks. ah such memories...

    When looking at rural land, how do you know which zoning restrictions will let you do stuff like yurts and tiny houses, or other cheap housing alternatives?
    How do you know which areas you can safely do this?
    Or are people just going so far out there, that nobody notices?
    When looking at plots of land there's this mess of zoning crap that's hard to navigate. People talk about finding land cheap but not about this part.
    Hope someone can comment on this.

    I love flowers as well. I grow some flowers but usually give them away for people using the flowers for funerals. I grow vegetables too, but just for home consumption.
    I am so glad to see like minded people.

    I know little to nothing about farming, but I have been doing my research and have tried growing different things in a small garden in my backyard. I admire these people who have the spirit and fortitude to live off grid, in yurts or tiny homes, with their own water systems and power and things. This takes hard work but if I could find myself a woman with the same drive and spirit.., I be gone out to become a home stead-er. I have a plan in progress so that I may reach this goal before my time here is up. Takes a lot of hard work and love. I wish all of you the Best.

    OK so this is what I do. I tell people how to run their businesses LOL. What a great capture recognizing that this is the direction you needed to go. The addition of doing the weddings is amazing. The next thing that I would suggesst that you gravitate to is photography. Pictures of your flowers, pictures of people in your garden with your flowers, and then pictures of people at the weddings with your flowers. Put the pictures of them at their wedding and your flowers up on your Instagram and Facebook. You could just give them the pictures? Or sell little photo packets that they can purchase from you at a reasonable price. Then of course in the future edge out the photographers and do that also!!!!!!

    • @chefevilee9566
      @chefevilee9566 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and then just an afterthought. You could also take the older flowers on the farm. Ones that wouldn’t be perfect enough for. You could shred them up. Then turn them into paper products for invitations and events?

    I hope they try more mulching for weed control. It will last longer, won't be in the way when it ( the weed cloths) breaks down/trying to replace it, work in the area, and will fee soil life ( more than plastic/fabric mulches, if not quite as good as living plants ). I'm guessing that they know about mulches, and have their reasons, but too often I think people have had mixed experiences with them, and so think they don't work very well, when, IMO as I become more & more experienced w em, they are very effective. U just need to have it deep enough the 1st round or 2, then don't let it go too long ( as weeds start coming up more again) b4 reapplying, tho that may only need to be once a yr. . May need to also use pigs ( or tarps/black plastic maybe.. or other animals ) in the area 1st to root out weed roots/knock everything down then cover quickly b4 they gets their energetic start going strong. Wood chips (after that disturbance & manure), or hay, is what i'd do. Just my 2 cents, I have seen lansdcape fabric not last like it was supposed to, even higher quality ones, & the disappointment, extra work & frustration that brings, and just hate to see it covering up swaths of soil :( . BUT way to go, very, very busy little family, doing great ! Thanks Mike & Lacie & kids !
