“When last we left our Adventurers” just that line set the whole mood. They aren’t heroes, yet.
A reminder to rules lawyers and nit pickers. We are having fun and Monty is making this an incredible time.
Incredible is right! First we had fun festival times and now we wake up in dark souls!
It's looking like a really fun campaign!
The first rule is Fun everything else comes second
Yeah that’s nice. Glad you all are. But their comment and critique is valid.
@@DrMDHyde but we don't need someone every episode pointing shit out. It's called the rule of cool for a reason and its her campaign so why do they care 🤣
“Violence isn’t the answer, violence is the question and the answer is ‘Yes’!”
I fricken love you guys!
58:37 holy shit, the GENUINE FEAR AND PANIC in Mark's actual voice is amazing. That wasn't Isqan freaking out, that was good old Mark Allen Jr., freaking the fuck out about his lizard man's maps. That's great, I love you people, you're all great, oh my god.
i just imagine him as the "my cabbages!" guy from ATLA anytime something happens to him or his maps.
@@theresabenedict8770 Oh my god, 100%. Kinda wanna see Isqan in that outfit now.
I really adore the roleplay of "We aren't proper adventurers; we don't know what we're doing!"
I'm excited to see some hopelessness and distress when they encounter early failures. Realism in fantasy is neat
Every time Lynn said "well you weren't dead but not alive." I scream "Don't worry they were mostly dead!"
3/4s dead.
And mostly dead is still slightly alive.

That princess bride reference is great.
Monty: "I love all my PC's!" * stares at smudged writing on hand * "Miles, Oregano, Gay, Key, and Isekai!"
((Yes, I know I also commented during the stream but most people don't listen to the end))
And there is a crossed out name that says Taka.
Otho is the kind of guy you'd ask his age and be instantly shocked he's not 50
Milo: What he lacks in youthful good looks he makes up for in decades of experience!
Otho: I'm... 26.
"It's fun to rip the flesh off of things"
- Monty 2022
something I've come to appreciate from the crew here, comical food takes and Monty making everyone hungry with descriptions of meals😄
We agree!
I’d missed the detailed food descriptions from the end of the last series
Oh god I've just realized that Gaijin turned Monty's food porn into a main character trait!
Mark: It's the Crest of Courage!
Me: Agumon Warp Digivolve to... *insert OG Wargreymon sequence here* WARGREYMON!!!!
I actually cried a tiny bit when Otho was trying to convince himself that the events so far were just a bad dream.
Reborn. I have a feeling he's a reborn, look at his eyes in his portrait. the whites of his eyes are black. Plus he did something to boost his perception check, level 1 rogues have nothing to do that.
@@demonzero677 Nah. Wild Hunt Shifter.
"ky the emotional support sibling" was a big mood
@@Nobody-wx6rk do shifters get 3 languages?
He has 6 languages in total, 2 from background, 1 from rouge and atleast 2 from race.
Unless he took a feat that gives him more?
I am loving this campaign already
Ortho and Ky are fantastic and I like the fake out of *Ky* being the protector of the two brothers, not Ortho. Very fun twist.
I had to pause at, "What is this, a map for ants??" I was laughing so hard!
Thank you, Mr. Mark Allen Jr.!

Thank you.
We should add a square to the Bingo card labeled "Goblin or Hob meows" xD
Also love zitos blackadder reference
That's might as well be the free space
Mad respect to all of you guys for getting this episode up so quick. Also good choice in moving the intro cinematic to right before the recap.
I'm loving these new characters. Its so obvious just how much every single one of you has improved in your roleplaying ability as well as your cohesion with eachother.
I really love the tension of this more survivalist scenario.
Seeing basco playing someone happy is weird.
On a more serious note, Cant wait to see how these characters change and grow.
Maybe they will be like task for me,was not a fan of his in the beginning but ended begin one of my favorites
Remy was happy….
@@DrMDHyde I mean he was,its not like he was angry all the time but I wouldn't say he was really happy either. If anything I would say he was neutral, probably not the right wording for what I'm trying to say so thats my fault.
Y'all know it's his job to voice act, right? I assume you do but one of his popular roles is someone who literally never stops smiling.
Lynne: I'm not winning any beauty pagents
Me: EXCUSE ME?!
Courescant 10, Jaaku 3.
@@ArcCaravan
Wha?
@@DrMDHyde Robot Chicken reference.
1:17:45 - I imagine that if he ever somwhow learns to cast _goodberry,_ instead of berries he summons croutons.
"I'm not winning any beauty contests" - I call bs, she's very much someone that my grave cleric would think is way better to wake up to after shit like that.
Edit: also I hope you guys realize this is the mine z map of rpgs.
Ikr, she got Haley Berry level of "I'm old but still hot".
@@dylanmorris5352 exactly. Plus my guy is a full elf so if he woke up, he'd go 'hah, you think you're old, that's cute. To me you're just into adulthood.
"Um sorry I don't mean to be rude but can you be less abrasive" had me hecking DYING 🤣🤣
I think the entirety of The Unexpectables can be encapsulated by a gif of Peter Griffin asking, "WHY ARE WE NOT FUNDING THIS?!?!?" It's just that great 👍 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unprecedented roleplay and comic relief. I swear I shall make my children, and my children's children undying fans.
Ms. MontyGlu, I am in awe of your ability to beautifully establish atmosphere; both during lighthearted times, as well as in moments of genuine terror.
I love it!
Today on The Unexpectables: "All right, who's not dead? Sound off!"
🎶 We just made our way back 🎶
No one speaks as they all try to figure out whether or not they should sound off.
Oh an Atlantis movie reference
I once had an npc who was a paladin butcher. He would cook any meat. If someone brought him rotting meat from an undead beast, he'd cast Purify Food and Drink to make it edible. Monty could allow Milo to do the same.
Assuming Milo would want to do the same.
@@ArcCaravan
He did already try, sadly can’t “cure” age.
The spell usually undo’s decay and poison, but after a year how much of the actual food is left and how much has been eaten/converted by mold and rot would be questionable for such a spell, especially since it’s a level 1
@@IansChonkyCat Not every undead creature is a year old, and they were told that the beasts who consumed the undead flesh were corrupted. If the decaying flesh on an undead boar still has some meat on it, then it can be purified.
OH NO! This small peaceful country has been turned into Tricadia 2.0!
4:00:30 haven’t heard Monty laugh that hard since bosco’s Noot Noot like two years ago
What episode was that?
Yeah, where was this?
Where was that?
Oh, man! Hearing everyone's genuine laughter does my soul so much good. Monty's death by laughter was so genuinely amazing. Thank you all for being such amazing people. ❤️
At 58:37 I love how Mark inhales for a half second before speaking. That sounded genuine.
Re-listening to that opening bit before the characters wake and Monty sneakily dropped the first 2 bosses in there! God I love when she drops that kinda stuff so subtly like that!!!
I wonder what the others are?
I think one of them could be the king of Centralia.
Hi Bosco! Great episode. Really interesting to see the travel mechanics in play
Iron Cthulhu Apocalypse music would be perfect for this campaign. Creepy, eerie ambiance abound.
The whole orange thing made me go wtf, but I remember the easiest orange to peel are those Halo Oranges lol. But this was a good episode and I'm glad this was posted cause I missed it last week. Hope things go well in the next episode of this campaign.
It's not fair, that bloody into puts a lump in my throat. So glad you're back!
A wild ride I just finished listening to on Twitch was not expecting up on TH-cam so soon. Good to see.
rule one of monty plays, dont kill her hippogirff
rule 2, festivals lead to doom
rule 0: Goliaths? 😆
rule 3: never get on a boat
That opening description was CHILLING. Hoooly I had no idea what I was getting into huh.
Once again love the intro music. So far, I have to admit, it's my favorite part of the campaign 👏👏👏
2:14 "It's very fun to rip the flesh off of something..." - MontyGlu, 2022
7:07 "What's the d?" - GaijinGoombah, 2022
57:35 Is she like the other girls? ...oh
2:59:12 "It was me, JOHN CENA!!!"
3:39:20 GaijinGoombah is indeed a voice actor
That cutoff at the end was PERFECT. Because I can just hear the meme version already.
Dose this episode mean it's now 21 years into the age of Etheal?
28:43 for anyone looking for the Undertaker's art.
Also liked this moment @ 55:25 : "It appears that democracy wins yet again." - live(d) in a monarchy.
So no surprise to any one, Milo is an assimar of Orun halfling, and also… A YEAR?! Dang, and this campaign suppose to take place two decades after the previous campaign🤨
Anybody else get the vibe that part of Otho and Ky’s story is that Otho became a Rogue to steal money to pay for Ky’s education? And that Ky might be a Wizard?
(Probably incorrect, but I have no idea what more than half these people are playing yet. Only an hour in here.)
So the agreed classes and races are
Milo Brightbeam - Aasimar Cleric of Orun(likely light, but unclear)
Gaius - Satyr, martial class, likely a fighter
Otho - Rogue, likely a Shifter race
Ky - Human, unknown class
Isqan - Lizardfolk, unknown class, likely Druid, Ranger, Monk or Cleric due to high wisdom
Spoilers:
Don't worry Gaius, I too am sad there was no ghost horse. But Monty was going to completely DESTROY them with that flesh people encounter but luckily it didn't come to that because there would be a high chance they'd be Sun Toast.
Also God Damn it Gaijin takes the chef feat just to make us all hungry. I mean cheesy corn soup with fish flake topping. Last time my mouth was watering that much was with the Alivast cooking competition.
Theory time, I got the sneaking suspicion that Otho is one of Everyman’s children and Ky doesn’t know. My reasoning for thinking this is Otho’s distain towards criminals but being so well informed of how they work, his ability to increase his senses at will but doesn’t want anyone, not even Ky, to see him use his powers (pretty sure he’s a shifter), and the fact that he was raised in Alivast the same time Everyman was running the underbelly.
wasn't Everyman a Changling? I could be very wrong, but I think that's what they said.
changelings dont have shifter children. shifters are akin to lycans
@@EldritchRolls they were yes, one could argue that it could be a mutation, or using shifter stats for the changing aspect.
@@darkvizardking69 unless its specified as a homebrew lore in Monty's setting, Shifters are a very different creature then Changelings, they may both be shapechangers but that's where their similarities end.
@@EldritchRolls which we don't know what they're doing with that, but they have mixed stats with 'race' before, such as borky being a full orc but was using half orc stats if I recall.
@@darkvizardking69 but that's different, half orcs can be any mix if orc and another race, that are essentially the same race in a lot of cases, they even share a couple abilities if I remember correctly. As I said, changelings and shifters are very different.
The way Monty keeps asking the party if they want to travel through the night or camp was starting to make me wonder if they didn't need sleep anymore.
Doubt, Monty’s not the type give out anything unless you really earn it.
I think it's more the temptation so she can go full Dragon's Dogma on them. One can only imagine what kind of absolute nightmare this place is traveling at night!
You can travel and be awake for a full day, you just gain a point of exhaustion. So if they want to get somewhere quicker, they can, but it’s just a matter of vision and risking not sleeping when they arrive
So I know I'm late to the party but I just got done watching episode 8 and I got an epiphany and had to re-watch the opening of this episode. Amazing Foreshadowing Monty and I can't wait to see if/when the players realize what i did.

Hello, Welcome to Pi’s Nit-Picks where for fun I go through new episodes of The Unexpectables and nit-pick it of any instance where how they play and RAW don't line up exactly.
Spoilers : I will have to go into spoiler territory, so you have been warned.
Disclaimers:
I am not telling anyone how to play dungeons & dragons. It's their game, not mine.
These are not criticisms, these are nit-picks.
I’m not trying to antagonize anyone, I’m a fan just like you.
Nit-Picks:
2:19:15 : Like the bard’s song of rest, a creature can only benefit from this feature if they spend hit points as part of a short rest.
2:33:15 : When in a contest that ties, The Unexpectables use the rule of thumb “aggressor wins” to resolve them while RAW states that “If [a] contest results in a tie, the situation remains the same as it was before the contest.” This rule would benefit a non-aggressor more so than an aggressor.
2:46:00 : Darkvision allows you to see in darkness as if it were dim light, which means that Perception checks are made with disadvantage, not that it is impossible to discern details. While creatures with darkvision can only see in shades of grey when using it, that again, doesn’t mean they cannot discern details.
Also, I believe I’ve determined that Otho’s race might be a Wildhunt Shifter, as he was able to gain advantage during the watch and I think the feat he chose may be Skill Expert, as that’s the only way for him to have three skills with expertise at this level (Stealth, History and Survival), Although I’m not 100% certain of that, I’ll have to double check when I have more time.
Isqan is most likely a Druid as it was said he can change his spells at the end of a long rest, has a wisdom higher than his intelligence, and appears to be an atheist?
Ky is a lovable enigma as always.
Also, hi Bosco.
Welcome back Pi, looking forward to Nitpicks 2: Bosco-Approved Boogaloo.
Yay! Glad you have you bud, looking forward to a long campaign with you!
Is it possible that mark is playing an artificer with a high wisdom, because it doesn’t feel like he’s playing Druidic character so to speak, you can be proficient in perception and they do know all there spell and need time to prep
My left field pick for Ky is Bladesinger. He's smart and can be a bit of a pedant sometimes, which seems wizard-y, then he is enamored with Gaius' fighting prowess and asked to learn. So, to make up for his physical weakness he gives himself mini-Haste and goes to town.
@@Nodigity98 I doubt it, an artificer with a higher wisdom than intelligence is possible, but highly unorthodox. If he wanted a high wisdom Artificer, he could've switched around his intelligence and wisdom scores; a +2 modifier is nothing to scoff at.
I'm going on a super long train trip so I finally have a chance to catch up on these 💫 Amazing second session, I've been waiting to see what happened to everyone for months now 💖 ALSO LYNNE IS SO COOL AND I NEED TO DO ART OF HER ✨
Wow, I knew Elden Ring was releasing around this time but I didn't expect the Unexpectables 2 to be set in Caelid
I love that you guys are putting the theme song at the into now, it makes me so happy
Otho sounds like an old school Lawful Good Paladin that is ok enforcing Lawful Evil laws.......... Because Its the Law...
Not everyone trusts and likes criminals in a fantasy setting. Granted it feels very easy for lawful characters to be evil while chaotic characters are assumed good.
Well that escalated pretty damn quick!
No joke, even though I’m gonna join live as much as is feasible, I’m gonna watch every TH-cam upload just so I can hear that BITCHIN’ theme song again! See ya on the next one!
3:17:20 "Killer Queen has already touched the door."
Hi Bosco! #16
Well- that Phoenix character I was talking about last time? Well, he’s an Aarakocra Celestial Warlock, Pact of the Blade. His kit is built entirely to deal radiant/fire damage as well as to heal on the side.
His patron is actually The Phoenix, an elder elemental that is actually an aspect of the god of Outer Space. The Phoenix is a personification of the sun, as well as Space’s tendency to destroy for the sake of creation.
Last time with the..... the...., huh, they dont have a name yet do they.
Feel like the first group had a name in their session zero. This group will have to earn their name :V
"The Unexpirables"(??) since they cheated death
they probably already have a name planned, but a party doesnt get a name until they complete atleast 1 difficult mission. those hippogriffs dont count.
@@errorcrj110 I like that!
Just started this journey, and I'm getting HEAVY Chosen Undead/Tarnished vibes from this start
1h9min15s alright calm down illidan. "IMPRISONED, FOR TEN THOUSAND YEARS!"
4:13:24 I am so happy this joke landed and made everyone laugh.
Also sparking fantastic meme XD
Mark, if you're reading this: I understood your 24 joke. It was a good reference
Atheists in a setting where Clerics exist, who use the power of the gods to do magic, is something I didnt think could be done lol. but I guess if Proof was enough persuade people then we wouldn't have people who still believe the earth is flat lol.
These characters have seen the devastation that Necrecta did and still think the gods are fairy tales
Wouldn't be unreasonable considering non-cleric magic exists. Line could be blurry on how some gods are actually gods and not fae, devils, elementals, etc.
@@ArcCaravan considering that there are spells that allow you to literaly speak to gods, and aasimar exist and tend to be pretty high up in society.
Really kinda undermines the whole “smart character” thing when they’re basically the fantasy equivalent of flat earthers…
@@DrMDHyde Consequence of a trying to have differing philosophies regarding religion when they are powered by magical creatures that exist in the setting. Granted there's a chance the party all didn't have knowledge that clerics are literally god powered and not metaphorically.
@@DrMDHyde Somebody can still be Smart but believe something stupid lol. That is kinda how learning works. Now if they continue to have this belief in like 100 or so episodes after they see a bunch more proof then I would say that "Smart" isnt something they could be described as. Just dying in this world has you meeting the god of death, so maybe after our halfling friend revives them the first time they will start to believe.
3:12:12 New Bingo Card slot: Heaven or Hell let's rock!
The entire time they were at that building with the warning, as well as when they left, I just kept saying "Fight it set a trap and fight it, fuck it up, no don't run away."
I swear, these episodes are coming out earlier and earlier. One of these days I'm going to be waiting for the live broadcast on twitch to end so I can start watching from the beginning, only to discover the episode had just been uploaded on TH-cam.
I think not having to work on Prince Division has lighten the workload for Austin, so that means he is able to work on editing the videos quicker. They used to come out this fast when it was just Unexpectables if memory serves right
I wonder if Monty would be willing to share assets with the community, like the city icons on the map. The ones from JoCat were amazing.
I watches Prince Division and caught up to Gateway before starting campaign 2. I gotta say, we're in episode 2 and shit is already not looking great, i like it
Edit: also, i gotta say that as someone who watched all of campaign one and managed to catch up to it since episode 130, it's incredible to see how much Monty evolved as a DM. I liked the first campaign since the first episodes, but as things where getting to the end of it i went back to watch them again i saw how much her world building and storytelling got amazing. And now she already started this one with a banger.
You know if Otho was raised as a commoner then him having a distaste of criminals is pretty normal. Tho what’s odd is how strong of a hatred he has. From the way Ky reacted he also reacts on that hatred a lot too.
I'm calling this now, Lynne is Ayla's sister who Ayla mentioned near the end of campaign 1
Immediately went all in on terrifying
I love it when players play the Polar opposite character to a previous campaign's character lmao
I don't know what they'll name the team but I sure do hopes it's "The Unperishables"
The Preservatives?
The undelishables
Sad they didn't go into that way station and confront the Boneless(?) inside. Those things are hilarious.
As funny as the opposite of a skeleton can be

Unexpectables on a Friday? It's gonna be a good weekend for D&D (paying in 3 games and running my own)
Love the intro
Looking forward to the future fatal tavern brawl that will guaranteed happen down the road.
I can't believe the unexpectables stole from the critically acclaimed live play show Gateway
Got nothing but positivity so far. I’ll say, I wasn’t digging the first EP, just didn’t have that feel. So I’m happy to say this episode feels like where everything is really hitting its stride. Hope we continue an upward trend.
Also to add, I’m VERY interested to see where Monty’s travel mechanics lead.
I know! It took me 3 days of on/off listening to finish the first episode, but I gotta say I am now intrigued
I was hooked from the start solely cause of the characters being VERY clearly set up for some huge development far as relationships and skills go.
Also Gaius.
Such devastation against the hippogryph was CERTAINLY his intention.
@@OMartinez91
Same really, finished this one in a day and a half.
I want them to be anti heroes and not moral heroes.
Campaign 2 Electrict Boogaloo is really fun and enjoyable so far hope to see more nods to the 1st Campaign more for nostalgia sake rather than story

There is truth to this..
Not gonna lie, Mark's Zoolander quote got me good. I was laughing so hard I had to pause the video. Er, VOD. Had to pause the VOD, cuz that's what I saw this on first.
Also, judging from some of the comments in the chat of said VOD, Gaijin has another love it or hate it character, which is sad because I like Milo.
Give it time, he'll grow on everyone. Like the rising sun we will all bask in his glorious presence. *Holds hands up with a slice of bread in each.*
@@JonduGaming Nah, Greckles was a piece of shit to the end. Like, I didn’t watch the epilogue so can someone summarize the fate of every character for me.
@@liamerolduffy7738*spoiler warning for campaign 1*
I don't know where you got that he was a POS. Sure he did rouge-esque things, like stealing a punch bowl, but 90% of it was harmless fun. In comparison, he did so many selfless things. Solly would be dead if not for him, he even hide her from Brorc in order to protect her. Not to mention the hundreds of people the Unexpectables saved throughout their adventures.
Heck, he nearly DIED in the final episode. As in, not even a Wish spell could bring him back. He could have easily backed off after he saw that he was in danger, but he willingly kept hacking away at the End.
After the fight, he retired as an adventurer and helped Solly get the Clergy back into a non-sun-nazi state.
@@JonduGaming Should’ve just burned the clergy down. Also, unless you paid attention, he had a shitty personality and pretty much waited for others to ask for his backstory like a pretentious princess. I don’t care if he stol things or hid Solly, which was the right thing to do since Brorc is pretty much Harvey Weinstein, I don’t like him because he is a joke and a coward who wouldn’t change his ways until he knew he had the power of a god backing him up.
@@JonduGaming While I enjoyed Greckles a lot, and definitely wouldn't characterize him as harshly as others here would, I do think I enjoy Gaijin Goombah's Milo even more.
To me, Mr. Goombah's portrayal of Greckles always seemed to be a bit at odds with itself. On the one hand, it very much felt like he wanted Greckles to be a calm, cool, and confident rogue-type character with all the edge that implies; but on the other hand, he would frequently role-play him as very sincere and emotionally conflicted.
That's not to say those two states can't exist within the same character, it's just that the transition between them sometimes felt jarring to me. With Milo, however, Mr. Gaijin Goombah seems to have gone all-in with the sincerity, which I feel is a much stronger roleplaying choice.
I'm looking very forward to seeing where these wonderful new characters go!
