Wolverine fate is to out live everyone around him, and when he does die it's almost guaranteed that he won't die in a very nice way. Being unkillable isn't nearly as awesome when everyone around you isn't.
Keep in mind, he regenerated from a single cell once, so basically the only way to kill him is to throw him into a hadron collider and vaporizer every single atom of his existence
Didnt Wolvie once say that his worst fear was that only him and deadpool would outlive everyone and they would be stuck with only each other because their similar healing capabilities?
He didn't mention that when Wanda did the 'no more mutants' bullcrap there were many mutants who's powers blipped off and they were like in the middle of swimming at the bottom of the ocean, or in lava. I think I remember seeing panels from the comic of Mara being burned alive because she was no longer fireproof while in the heart of a volcano.
Funny I never see “losing powers” as a talking point... The thought of being able to do incredible things and have that taken away is awful... Truly depressing.
its their equivalent of becoming a paraplegic or even quadriplegic after devoting your life to something that requires physical prowess like being an athlete or a soldier.
the worst is when its the reverse: "buhu i can fky and destroy buildings with a thaught but its a curse and makes me a horrible abomination even though i am worldfamous and everyone loves me". yeah get a break. i get it as a for the thing in fantastic four. but not if you just get to look human and have godlike powers at no drawback.
Well, being a 'normal' human. And yeah, the "a fate worse than death" is a little much. I'd imagine its similar to what normal person goes through that loses one of their senses later on in their life. They probably feel like they would rather die but eventually they find ways to adapt and live a somewhat normal life again.
Well, let me ask you: If given the choice, would you rather die or have your eyes pulled out? We keep thinking of mutants as "people with super powers" and while it is ONE definition, to them, their super powers is something as natural as a "normal" human's ability to feel, taste or see. Removing their powers makes them a cripple as far as they are concerned. Losing one's abiliy to see, or walk, gives people terrible depression. Some are able to recover and go on with their lives. Storm managed to do so.
@@CSLucasEpic I think it depends on how much their power is part of their life. Like, example, if their power was to simply shoot fireballs, but they have very little opportunities where they actually uses it in their everyday life, then the loss of such power wouldnt affect them much. But if it's instead something like a sixth sense that allows them to "see" or feel the whole world from a completely different dimension, or telekinesis that they use for everything from picking up and using stuff to moving and transporting in general... Then yeah, the loss of their power wouldnt just be "becoming normal", but theyd be crippled compared to before.

@King Solomon this is the problem with comic book fans these days🤦🏾♂️. Blade is still A marvel movie. It doesn't have to have the same atmosphere as other marvel movies. Stop trying to downplay a great superhero movie cause of mcu, it's getting annoying
Actually, number 1 Fate worse than Death, not just for X-Men, but all franchises in general should be: Becoming a Cash Cow. When the franchise is just dragged on and on, without any closure, and the characters are left in constant limbo, never to be allowed closure or just their happy ending.
Similiar to diavolo from jojo, He can never embrace the sweet release of death because he is in constant death loop everytime he dies he'll come back to life just to experience endless scenario's of death fresh from his previous death without escape, So yeah being immortal sucks
Especially the X-Men. Nobody retires. The OG 5 alone have tried to retire numerous times and keep getting dragged back into superheroing only to literally “die”; get brainwashed numerous times; transformed the into a winged death machine; marry a clone of your dead girlfriend; have your clone-wife go insane and attempt to sacrifice your son to a demon; have to send said son into the future to save his life from a fatal techno-organic virus to possibly never see him again; get unknowingly reunited with long lost son; who’s at least 20 years your senior and have to deal with his extremely abrasive and child-endangering methods; get “possessed” by the jerk who infected tough guy son with T-O virus; turn into a cat person; die for a second time (this time for real); discover that you have a second brother and that your adoptive father erased your memory of him and his apparent death in an elaborate scheme to get more soldiers; decide to lead an entire nation on a floating asteroid in the Pacific Ocean; plan, secure and execute a 3-D chess plan to save the future of your entire race: authorize a secret wet works squad; get possessed by the same entity that impersonated your thought dead girlfriend, faked her “sacrificial death” and then get written horribly as the villain in a company that’s petty about profits from film rights; become a pariah in a community you helped lead out of possible extinction; and die from a virus released from a company mandate trying to replace you with cheap knockoffs. Xavier can’t even die in battle/retire and stay dead so that it means anything. The X-Men have become a punchline in a company that solely survived at a point off of their comic sales. LMAO.
Being and hound, turning into a brood, or being legion himself seem like a worst fate than anything else. Legion has to figure out a way to create actual human bodies, and empty out his personalities into them. It way too late to control them now in his head. He might as well be a planet and his personalities are animals fighting to be the top of the food chain.
If i ended up in the marvel universe via some sort of isekai method, i would stop at nothing to get back home. Mainly because of a few reasons. 1. Being the host of a symbiote doesn't exactly sound like a good time. 2. The Brood. Nuff said. 3. Being defenseless when it comes to supervillains. 4. Ultron, just ultron.
Okay, in the movie "Logan" we got a taste of X-23. I was so impressed by Dafne Keen's performance that I would love to see more of this character. I haven't read the comic story (I haven't bought a comic book in decades).
I was the same way years ago and x-23 is my all time favourite comic character. Here's a reading list: - X23: The Complete Collection 1 & 2 (has her origin story and other critical parts of her story). -All New Wolverine - when she takes on the mantle of wolverine after he dies (brilliant series) - X-Men Evolution (TV Series). She made her debut in the cartoon series then in the comics.
Wish I knew when he said this ,but one of Wolverine's biggest fears is that his healing factor will keep him alive long enough that him and Deadpool will be the only two people left on Earth.
The story line I always expected for Legion was for him to split and create an alter called Controller or Overlord or some other such term .. One Alter to rule them all and control them all (and so keep them in check and handle his fear). Yet such an alter would be very very powerful and could easily overwhelm him completely to become the dominant in control at all times personality, absorbing all those powers into itself to become "all powerful" so to speak. I could see such a wonderful story around that and in a What If universe he could take over everything
So what you're saying is that he should create one alter to rule them all, one alter to find them, one ring - I mean alter - to bring them all and in the darkness bind them?
@@Neion8 Hmmm .. I never thought of it that way. You get the pat on the back and the gold star for the day. And Now I am thinking of a What If where a new version appears and imagines it is in middle Earth and remakes the world to play this out. Oh the fun... lol
You know who it might also suck to be? The mutant named Forget-Me-Not. His whole mutations is that when people aren’t looking at him, they forget he exists. Charles Xavier has to constantly set mental reminders of this man’s existence.
i'm not as familiar with any of the non-main characters in the Marvel-verse. I tried looking up the mutant similar to the silence, but kept getting Black Bolt. Is there a mutant that messes with people memories when the look at the mutant in question?
IIRC Onslaught was a result of Xavier taking what made Magneto everything he was out of him and transformed him a completely different person. Both their psychies merged and Onslaught used all the dirty nasty bits Xavier kept locked away in his mind to take control over him and amplify his powers. The Onslaught himself was so damn scary, he scared the Juggernaut shitless. We're talking reduced back to how much of a scared little boy he was when Marko's father was still alive and viciously abusing him. The Onslaught run itself was Marvel cleaning house since everything BUT the X-Men comics then were selling poorly.
Objection! During the Enemy of the State II story arc, Laura (X-23) was able to completely neutralize the trigger scent with the help of her younger clone/sister Gabby, and a version of Jean Grey who had time traveled from the past. Jean was able to break the mental conditioning and pain that had rooted the scent, while Laura raged against Gabby, who had used the trigger scent on themself. After the reconditioning, the trigger no longer sent Laura in a berserk rage, so it's no longer her fate to be controlled by the chemical.
7:00 That's super dark. Not just because of the super dark nature of that story, but also because of the implication that Xavier and Logan have agreed to just take out dangerous mutants. Imagine if Magneto found out? He would see it as Xavier acting exactly the same as the humans who have persecuted mutants in the past. I could see a whole conflict spiraling outward from this one moment (idk, maybe it actually was the catalyst for something bigger, I'm not really familiar with this story).

Wolverine fate is to out live everyone around him, and when he does die it's almost guaranteed that he won't die in a very nice way. Being unkillable isn't nearly as awesome when everyone around you isn't.
He will live until the Sun turns red and engulf the Earth. Either he escapes with the humans on ships. Or stays and burns into molecules.
Keep in mind, he regenerated from a single cell once, so basically the only way to kill him is to throw him into a hadron collider and vaporizer every single atom of his existence

So for the mutants, being human is a fate worse than death. Uh.
Wtf
@@CSLucasEpic
I think it depends on how much their power is part of their life.

Actually, number 1 Fate worse than Death, not just for X-Men, but all franchises in general should be: Becoming a Cash Cow. When the franchise is just dragged on and on, without any closure, and the characters are left in constant limbo, never to be allowed closure or just their happy ending.

Hohenheim/ Hellsing Alucard: That’s rough, buddy.
That actually sounds like a dope one shot Marvel could do.
Here's a reading list:
- X23: The Complete Collection 1 & 2 (has her origin story and other critical parts of her story).
-All New Wolverine - when she takes on the mantle of wolverine after he dies (brilliant series)
- X-Men Evolution (TV Series). She made her debut in the cartoon series then in the comics.
@@ITheIM7IOmegaI Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into those.
