    Wish I had something like this when I was starting out but in the early 80s all we had was the Honda Rebel 250cc. If I had had something like this, I would have never had to trade up six months after getting my license. Bravo Ducati!

    You mentioned you may be a bit too tall for the bike. How tall are you exactly? Do you think the bike would be comfortable for someone 6'0''/182 cm tall to use as an everyday commuter bike?

    My gosh. It sounds like your reading a bedtime story, if you know what I mean! lol. I think it's good that there's a premium A2 bike. Everyone else seems to make A2 bikes all about being cheap to fit below the bigger bikes in their lineup.

    I like the bike, but I'm 70 years old. So, maybe the bike is for both novices and older pros. You'll be buying one someday, just to keep riding. Good review, but as usual, from a young man's perspective.

      I agree. And the exec at Ducati said that they were aiming at people that wanted to buy a 400cc engine, not because they had to or couldn't afford something bigger, but because they choose to buy a 400cc engine. I could live with less reviews in English that are condecendent to 500cc engines and below, hinting that they are for beginners or women. First, in a lot of countries in Asia an Latin America 500-700 cc's are already big engines and are not "cheap" as they always imply, and second women do not correlate with smaller engines. I've seen some women that dominate larger bikes better than a lot of guys.

    good review, we tested also the flat tracker pro, i still think you need the big engine

    I did buy one and apart from me being slightly on the large side for the bike as it came out of the showroom and the appalling seat the bike is superb, the handling sublime, and never do I feel like the bike is slow or that it feels like an inferior machine..In fact the bike howls and wails like a banshee, pulling hard through the gears..the good news is, it makes 60mph feel like 100 not the other way round so you are never riding way up in license losing territory but you still get the thrills..I've tweaked my handlebar position, fitted a puig Retrovision screen, added saddlebag supports and my Oxford sports lifetime panniers give a practical touring option.Ive fitted Pirelli angels and adjustable foot pegs and had the seat made to cosset rather than crucify me and I never feel I made the wrong choice.for me it's a distance adventure bike..the adventure being where I ride and who I meet and things I discover rather than ground clearance, wheel size or suspension travel. It's now comfy and I have more legroom, and I'm protected from the worst of the wind blast and if I feel like it's too slow I simply change the road to a twistier narrower one where the bikes lightweight and amazing handling can be exploited to inject a little more of a challenge. In all the bike ( as is ) suits every aspect of my riding and I can easily see off larger bikes with novice riders as the 400 can be pushed out of it's comfort zone and rises to the challenge every time.Damn fine Bike so don't be put off by all the " starter-Bike-Nonsense..it's Brilliant!! 😁

    I like the looks and for someone like me; a beginner, it would be ideal accept that I would not buy an air cooled bike over 125cc. Especially at a premium price point. You may have fun during the fall and early winter, but come summer with the heat ...nope!

  • @ripmax333
    @ripmax333 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Its Expensive because of that damn badge on the tank that says DUCATI, but I admit it a cool bike and i wish i have one. Damn! why other manufacturer's like honda, don't build a similar bike!

    Nice review, but you didn't mention its off road capabilities. Is it actually a good scrambler or is that just a name they've tacked on?

    • @jessaphillips2846
      @jessaphillips2846 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      other reviews seem to say its good on dirt roads but i seriously doubt you would either want to or be able to keep up with a 250 dual sport off the beaten path, which can be said about virtually every other scrambler new or old. dual sports are today what scramblers were back in the 60's and 70's, but these are still good bikes.

    • @MrMrrome
      @MrMrrome 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jessa Phillips Yea I have a Yamaha X7 dual sport now. I'm looking for something I take my girlfriend to dinner on / not look like a teenage squid everywhere I go, but I live in a rural area so I'm on dirt and gravel a lot and need a bike that can handle it.

    Can Any owners confirm if the heat from the engine is an issue for the legs like has been reported on the bigger scramblers?

    • @stevied6286
      @stevied6286 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only time you really notice the heat is on a really hot day and only when u are stuck in slow traffic..it gets hot and bothered. Avoid hot city commuting as you need a water-cooled bike anyway for such stop-start activities especially if you have any " mechanical sympathy"! If air is passing nicely over the cylinders you will seldom notice the heat!

    This bike is fundamentally to tickle you into the Icon. That's marketing. They don't care whether they sell this bike. They care about the Icon.

  • @stevied6286
    @stevied6286 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Number of years riding and type of licence, previous bikes and 1001 other reasons do not account for the appeal of a bike!! Honda monkeys are proof of that.. sometimes a smaller capacity is just what's needed to inject some much needed fun ...just because...the more testers try to pigeon-hole who a bike is for the more they miss the point..and alienate a whole demographic of potential buyers! Sometimes, ( this will be hard to hear ) people like to exercise " just because " !! I like it so I'm gonna buy one..as simple as that..I don't care what other people do or don't do.or what people think I ought to do or not do..I owned 16 bikes above 1100 cc yet I ride a meteor 350..43 years riding! So when u review a bike..tell us it's good, its bad and it's indifferent..show us some great pics, some specs and how it competes with other bikes in it's class..just don't go on about who should and shouldn't buy it and the reasons behind that cos that's your point of view and yours alone..otherwise it was a clear concise review thank you

    Hi sorry for the late message but you mentioned you felt a bit too tall for the bike, how would a guy 5,9" feel on this bike?

    • @jonathanwearne
      @jonathanwearne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went to a showroom and have had a good play around on the 62. I am 5 foot 11 with a 32 inch inseam and I found the seat height very easy to negotiate with a completely flat foot. So I think it’s highly probable that you would manage too. Also there were lower and higher cushioned seating options and a 3rd party suspension lowering kit too.

    Does Ducati's new A2 licence friendly Scrambler Sixty2 do enough to justify its premium price? TBH Tom, this review wasn't very helpful - it sounded like you were on a manufactures jolly, and you can't bad mouth it (Or you won't get invited back!) but how can a review of a Scram to be complete without some Off Road action..?? Yeah, I know that you're hands were tied - but I learned more from the comments

      no, this bike has two cons and two only, it's expensive and it's air cooled, but for what it was designed is smooth and good looking

  • @johnman3272
    @johnman3272 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Ducati Icon has much more power at 800cc and is only 7 lbs heavier, while not much more expensive.. Except for licensing issues, there's no reason for this bike to exist.

    • @VittorioSergi
      @VittorioSergi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      to be honest, If I wanted a bike, and I wanted a ducati that looked good, for what i do I'd take this one rather than the 800, just because it's enough, and I don't need the excess power, and it's cheaper
