Super to see the start of your process. I once used allotment buildings as inspiration for ceramics.

Love your methodical approach to creating! This speaks to me and makes so much sense. It allows us to surround ourselves with all the elements in advance so our minds are immersed in the subject, mood and feeling. Then, when it come so creating we can trust what comes out as real, authentic and straight from the heart. Thank you so much for sharing this.❤

Hi thanks for your feedback. I’m so glad that you enjoyed the video. Yes exactly that, surrounding and immersing ourselves in the subject. It’s the very reason that I do a lot of work on location- my connection with the subject matter is fundamental to the authenticity of the artwork.

You did a great job explaining your work processes. Thank you so much. Following these 5 steps should make the painting process flow along easier.

You are very welcome Terry - I think artists each have their own specific ways although there are broad similarities.

Thanks for your comments Anita. I agree, it is a lot of work and I have to be mindful of time; especially given the economy and painting sales at present. That said I can’t see my process stages changing, although they will likely evolve over time.

I am so excited to see this series begin to take its first process steps. I only have four weeks or so left now until I move to Saltburn permanently. I will go back to Skinningrove and look at these buildings again with your work in mind and look forward to seeing them afresh with the eyes you have lent us. Thanks for this great video, Liz. Most inspirational and interesting to see your process

Hi Sian thank you so much for these lovely comments!- oh how exciting that you are moving to Saltburn- you will only be a stones throw from Skinningrove and I love your terminology: with the eyes you have lent us! There will be many more videos as I develop this series!

Thanks Liz. You explain your workproces. That's the hardest item for me. But this was helpfull and not difficult at all, I often think.

I'm amazed how you manage to find the appropriate poems. I've learnt the sketchbook on your amazing course. For me unfortunately I can't always go back to the landscapes, so I have to depend on photos I've taken. Actually Liz could you do a video how you develop your art by using photos for people like me who are not independent to go further a field. I don't want to depend on our communal garden. That would be lovely if you find time gecause you demo so great. X

Hi Leila, yes the quotes are just lucky finds. I understand that you can't go back to landscapes Leila, and to be honest, I am mostly not doing that either but working from drawings done in the landscape and memory. Therefore, I don't really think it's that different to you. If you have visited, then you have memories, thoughts, perhaps a drawing or two and your photos. You can use those in exactly the way I show me working in the studio-it's no difference. A video showing me working from a photo would be no different to what I am already showing you. Plus, I don't work directly from a photo so to show that would be odd. I think perhaps if you have a collection of photos to work from, it will work the same as me having a selection of drawings. Do as many quick works on location as you can. This will help your memory. I hope that helps. My next course, about collage, will not be about working on location, the course will all be filmed in the studio. x
