I recently went on a day trip from London to Whitstable for the first time ever and I completely fell in love with the place.
If you like lobster, oysters, colourful beach huts and being by the sea, then there are some amazing things to do in Whitstable. It really is one of those quintessentially British places you just have to visit.

How can we go from London st Pancras?
You can either go from London Victoria or St Pancras. It costs around £12 for a day return and you can book your tickets on South Eastern Railway.

I really don’t know what you love about whitstable🤦🏼♂️... it’s been ruined since promoted as a holiday or day trip destination to mainly Londoners or as us locals describe as DFLS . I’ve lived in whitstable my whole life and my family goes back 2 or 3 generations too, the character and vibe of my hometown has been trashed and ruined beyond belief. As for the “whitstable oysters” - they’re not actually whitstable oysters . So many houses in the town and backstreets are empty half the year because they’re second homes or Airbnb homes and people that have lived here our whole life’s cannot afford to live or rent in the town we call home because of the gentrification of whitstable. Ask any local and they will probably tell you the same that whitstable just isn’t the same.
Well said K M, couldn't agree more. The place is like one big traffic jam now. I've lived in East Kent all my life and know it very well. My mum lives in Whistable and I avoid the town at all costs. There's no pedestrianised shopping areas at all. Bretts tarmac plant is in the harbour, loads of 30 ton lorries rumbling through the town and the sea food is a rip off. Why anyone would want to move there is beyond me. It used to be a lovely little seaside town once. 😢
That’s so sad. I’m a Londoner but so annoyed with what has happened in the whole southeast with house prices. It’s a joke and ruins communities.
What a load of rubbish, we live in Whitstable and couldn't be happier, it's nobody else's fault you have no money
unfortunately i have to agree i have 2 children that were born in Whitstable and neither can afford to live here now such a shame .
Small minded thinking. This is a global (to local) agenda. Every town and city has changed, mine is absolutely full of take away drivers in the town centre. Guess what, globalisation is doing that in other places as well as your precious Whitstable.
It’s rubbish that the old Neptune give plastic cups. Can’t have a good pint in plastic !

Don't bother with the oysters. It's a cliche, and disappointing. There's much more to Whitstable than oysters.
I enjoyed the oysters! It was nice eating them on the beach. We got up to loads of things while we were there though - Whitstable is such a beautiful place.
Please stop sharing this stuff.. it’s a lovely little place but you’ve kind of ruined it.. I’ve lived in Whitstable most of my life… but thanks to this kind of stuff I now have 33 air bnbs’’ on my street!
I appreciate over-tourism and the gentrification of a particular place can destroy the character and charm, but it can also regenerate areas too and bring people there. I always think beautiful places are meant to be shared, not hidden away.
