HOLD UP - it's a vlog! A long-form video that isn't 15 seconds and vertical?! Oh, we are well overdue a catch up, aren't we? I want to do a sit down and a natter with you about life lately! I hope you've been well and you're having a wonderful start to the week :) xx
We were in Whitstable a couple of weeks ago and loved it! Wheelers was fantastic, as was the Twelve Taps and Samphire 🙂 Such a lovely part of the world.
There is a dark side to Whitstable and it was a reason we moved out. It’s not all yay and bunting and cute shops. It’s become a holiday home and Airbnb nightmare. Specially for the locals that live in the centre like we used to. So glad to get out
Interesting to hear the truth for the locals. Our local hometown in Australia has also become very 'tourist' popular that we stay away on the weekend as we know how hectic it becomes!
The old joke with Shepherd & Neame beer is that it is called "sh*t & scream*. The Shepherd & Neame brewery in Faversham, Kent is also a really good place to visit.
Hi hun, I lived in Whitstable for 6 years only moving away last year. It was a great place to live and work. Miss it terribly so this brought back memories
Whitstable is my hometown! I've seen so many youtubers going there lately, what is going on lol. Has someone advertised it as the place to be? I will say to anyone going for oysters to check the local papers etc beforehand because we have had some incidents with food poisoning from them a few months ago. Also, Tankerton might be a blue flag beach, but it got tainted with the whole raw sewage incidents recently too. There is a cool thing in Tankerton called The Street (you can kind of see it at 6:03 where the sea is meeting in different directions), is a pebble walkway that goes out about a mile at low tide. There is a sign for it at the beginning of it, but if you do walk out there, please be aware of the tide, people frequently get caught out and cut off by it. As a local I'm happy to answer questions about Whitstable! 😄
Hi hun, I lived and worked in Whitstable for 6 years only moving away last March. It is a great place to live but-expensive and not everyone is rich there! Lol I wasn’t as was a funeral care worker for the Coop and never could afford the Oysters 🦪 and any of the restaurants apart from going for a curry dinner a couple of times!
@@raymcdonald6734 Yes it is expensive here! Mostly because Londoners have moved down and pushed the house prices up. Then the restaurants and shops etc have catered to tourists and not locals in terms of price. There are some reasonable priced food options such as the chain restaurants like prezzo and zizzi etc. Plus the fish and chips are always a good price. Any kind of fresh fish or shellfish will be very expensive! I'd love to walk to the harbour and get fresh caught fish etc but I can't afford that lol.
Oh no!! Such a shame to hear about the food poisoning, to have it with shellfish is an awful experience too. Great tips and thank you for the heads up for future visits! Sorry for advertising more about Whitstable (but I loved it and can’t wait to shout about it haha 😅😅) where else do you recommend in Kent?
@@dejashu Mmm, have you been to Canterbury? The cathedral is worth a visit if you're into architecture etc. I don't get out much in Kent tbh haha. But if you look on the map you can see the Kent Downs which is huge so anywhere in there would be nice I suspect for a nature walk.
@@3lmodfz If you ever get out of Whitstable, you’ll see house prices and eating out has gone up everywhere in the South of England. Try being a bit less dramatic about Londoners, they’ve bought in a huge amount of work for the locals, who have done very well out of them. (I’m not a Londoner) If you live in Whitstable, you’ll have benefitted from this yourself ? Locals sold up to make a profit, and are now regretting it ? Prezzo is gone now, but there’s a a Weatherspoons if your on a budget.
@@dejashu Marin and Sonoma counties, in Northern California are connected, and a beautiful area that goes from the coast to wine country. September, as long as there are no fires, is the best time. May is also nice. I’ve only been to London twice.

That's a lot oysters! Thanks for sharing. I love tagging along on your adventures.
🥰my home! I absolutely love Whitstable with all my heart.
Maybe a bit niche but "Tipping the Velvet" (book) is set in victorian Whitstable, the main character an oyster girl!
Such a great video Shu! Definitely gave me a good idea of places I may want to visit for my trip next year 💕🫶🏾
Thank you, Bett! So pleased to hear it and very excited for you and your trip!!

Great! I love your videos! I’m not much into raw oysters, but I love them grilled on the bbq, by the ocean, here in N California.
Ahhh you must add Whitstable to your list of places to go! 🥰I NEEED to see more of California and try these!

Loved this 🥰
Thank you, Jade!! Great to be back making vlogs again 🥰
Once again another fab vlog. Btw where did you get that awesome lilac jumper?
Thank you so much!! It’s from Uniqlo! Also got it in another colour because I love it so much! 🥰🥰

I am, thank you! Hope you have been too!

it be useful if u cld indicate prices in yr footage too, TQ
That’s a great shout! Will bear in mind for future series 🥰 thank you!
@@dejashu yes most youtubers indicate prices in USD so viewers around the world hv an idea of the costs. This helps v much. Thankz ya...love yr accent
6:17 £22 for a coffee scoop?? WTF. They're £3 on Amazon!!!!
Nice but crazy expensive and looks more suitable for City b(w)ankers. Can't you do a bargain bucket video given the current cost of living/economy?
You get this gassed up for whitstable it's nice but there is nothing to do apart from the beach
Is sea food from English waters safe to eat?
