Hey buckin Billy Ray Smith I got a question I have an old David Bradley it is a h 58 g and I am trying to find a new chain for it could you help me out buddy
When you start your day out on your knees.....that is what struck me more than anything. What a beautiful way to start your day. Keeping things right with your Maker and allowing Him to be part of your day is such a blessing. Love you Buckin!
youre doin a great job raising that young fella !! Seems respectful and willing to learn. I have an awesome time hangin with you two on the video!! thanks for the lessons on hanging axes. Done my first two and more on the way. Attitudes like yours will change the world. Well done Hogan!!!
The best part of these videos is the father son love......i miss my dad alot after he died on his motorcycle but these videos remind me of the good times
I am from Vermont and I was raised using the "common" undercut. I have no formal training, just Dad and the school of hard knocks but I now see why you use the '"Humboldt" undercut because as the tree falls and the undercut closes you have the straight edge of the tree butt against the sloped cut in the stump. This prevents the tree from slipping or kicking backwards off the stump injuring the faller. I have been watching and noticed how your trees tend to jump forward off the stump. Nice, I am going to give it a try. Thanks Buckin!
Walkrobb1022. That undercut goes way back and is really made from the west coast hills and production and getting more out of each tree. Definitely a great notch to learn
Uncle Buckin', thanks for the LOOOOOnnnngggg video! These days there's plenty of folk at home and you made a hour video just for us? Awwwwwe Buckin' thanks for the love! Once this passes then we all go back to normal, maybe there'll be a new normal, like we're more loving and kind to each other? Works for me. Be safe y'all and keep moving.
Thanks for the learning Buckin and Ganges. Time to go try that bore cut on a leaner I am taking out of the yard today. @Buckin' Billy Ray Smith congrats! Dang near 40k to go already!!! Seems like just yesterday y'all were just at 30k. Everyone please have a blessed day. Things are going to be okay....just gonna have to trust in the one almighty. If your having an off day, stop what you are doing. Walk outside, close your eyes and just listen to the world around you. Take in the smells, sounds of wildlife, birds and take a few deep breaths. Clear your mind and just SMILE. Have a great weekend y'all and may you all be blessed.
Time is not a consideration when watching you to take the world on a safe journey to learn so much, even in my twilight years. May you continue to be blessed and safe.
Hey billy thank you for teaching us the right way to do tree work without getting hurt or doing any thing wrong on the tree work thank you for everything that you show us
From an old Ccoot way down in Gisborne New Zealand this video is surely one of the best! Inspirational leadership and mutual respect. Could you be any prouder of your young feller. Great job. Old school still rocks years of doing it in all conditions comes through. Thanks for taking the time to stop and explain stuff. 242 in the morning here im off to bed to saw trees with my snoring.😄 Love to all.
Hi Bucking from Scotland, I made it home, luckily before my company stopped all leave a few days after I flew home a couple of weeks back. The wife is working from home for our NHS, doing vital work behind the scenes, and I'm looking after our 2 dogs, taking food to her folks from a shopping list they sent her, but I did add in fresh haddock fish, and I did buy them a bottle of nice red wine on top. Her Dad's 85 odd and her Mum is 70 odd. I got a kick out of seeing their wide smiles, ( in safe distancing) when they saw the wine and I mentioned the fish. I'm glad I got home, and I'm making a small difference. I admit to being a tad stressed today, but hey I'm human, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Sorry I'm waffling on, but hey matw, great to watch you on the big tv, and keep making your videos long or short. Keep up the great work. I hope you and your family stay safe, and everyone in the Bucking Army, stay safe, and positive vibes to everyone. It's very challenging days for everyone, but do your best to stay positive. There's alwats someone you can talk to via skype/messenger/whatsapp. Stay strong and stay positive.
Billy. We in new zealand have an american guy that trains our entry loggers how to do it. Our government pays him to be here. Hes here because your saftey standards are higher than ours. Keep it safe. Love your videos.
I seem to be binge watching your videos rather than jumping into the two partially downed trees. I want to be sure that I’m doing it safely rather than put myself in harms way. Thank you!
Hello sir I happened apond your channel one day I'm not sure what I was even looking for but let me tell you I watch a video of yours every time one shows up on my phone. Let me tell you I'm 60 years old and not much impresses me much anymore but you sir impress the heck out of me every time I watch you cut a tree with the expertise you use. I've even had to share some of your videos with my sons. Keep up the great work and stay safe Dave
My favorite part off cutting trees is the anticipation of the trees when they begin to fall!! The crack, Creek, then the crash!! Love the longer videos as well!! At 14 min in, I got my coffee and pop corn and gonna enjoy!! Thanks!
Buckin you should feel immensely proud. Got a little emotional watching you and your son. It reminded me of me and my dad. We had a family antique furniture restoration business. Started by my grandfather and then my dad and uncle ran it. I worked with dad every break and in the summers as well as lots of weekends. I lost my dad in a car accident 25 years ago. I miss him every day but I am so grateful for the privilege to have worked next to him. Savor every moment. God bless and be well.
I fully understand your fear when you said you were scared when the kid came and said he wanted to learn to fall......my Son also came to me and asked to learn....we spent some of the best times of our lives together, and he learned.....now, he runs an arborist crew, sometimes 2 crews for one of the biggest tree outfits in our state......really great stuff Billy, thanks, you have brought back many good memories my man.....OnWard......
Great video Buckin & Hogan. Wonderful explanation of what you were going to do and why you were doing it a particular way! Now Drifter! It’s like the relationship I have with my ex Army And RAF buddies . We don’t see each other for years and when we do meet we just pick up the conversation as if it was left yesterday! Just wonderful. Thanks boys for this hour long video.....loved it. Love and kindness to one and all. Graham🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️🌲❤️🌲
Hey Buckin and the Soldiers of Kindness, wishing you a beautiful day filled with health, love and kindness! It looks like the child has been well prepared for the path. Hogan does a wonderful job because he watches and learns, and listens and learns. He pays attention and practices what he learns. Love ❤️ wins. I love the encouragement you provide to Hogan. It is a beautiful thing!
Hey Billy Ray. I want you to know, I LOVE your video's. I don't do any tree cutting, but I like watching you work in the woods. I like watching how it's SUPPOSE to be done, and you tell us how to do it safe. Im a woodworker as a side trade/hobby. Like knowing where my wood comes from. Thanks for your video's. Keep up the great work!! Im a fan.
I really like what Walk Robb said about the stumps. Very good point- i'm going to start doing that too. Taking down a lot of dead ash trees here in northern IL. Thanks
I'm catching up on vids I've missed, this is one of my favorites. I love the interaction between you and your boy and has influenced the way I'm teaching mine.
Thanks Buckin I love it man. Great to see Ganges pickin up all the tricks and skills of the trade. He has come so far so fast man he's paying attention that's for sure. Great to see the drifter. Welcome newcomers hope you enjoy and hope you stick around to enjoy more Peace Love and Powersaws. 🌲❤🌲✊
Nice to always see you and your son working together. Always a pleasure to see your pride, and to see Hogan's pride in his accomplishments. Stay safe out there everyone! Love to all!
Thanks you for giving your time to make my day a better day. wish you were my next door neighbor. I am a old man that love to learn more about life skills.
We bought some acres of land not long ago and are starting to learn about taking trees down for firewood. We have a lot of standing dead that will be perfect for firewood, many with weird leans and such. Thank you so much for the education you are providing us "weekend warriors". God Bless.
You don't have to explain why it's an hour long vidjeo! A year later and the situation is even worse. I'm here for the duration no matter what! Thanks for taking the time to put these together. Btw, I'm a Red Wings man myself. Wouldn't put anything else on my feet. ✌
Thanks for explaining what you guys were doing. I’ve never done a bore cut.those real hard leaners always make me nervous and I tend to stay away from them. I might try it now on a smaller tree! 👍🏻good stuff Buckin
Great content makes an hour seem like nothing . Really like seeing some falling of trees that aren't just face cut back cut and watch em fall . Hogan is doing a great job on the stump , he's coming right along . Everyone stay positive , safe and healthy . Have a great day .
Priceless Video Buckin. Enjoyed seeing Hogan Bore Cutting those Leaners . He could not have had a better Mentor than Old School Buckin Billy Ray. Learned alot. Im so grateful your on youtube. Skinny Boy learned from the best. They dont get no better than you.
I really really enjoyed every piece of information you have given is not only that you and hogan working together like a team of horses I’m telling it makes me feel good to see you both working together love you both I am one of your number 1 fan by the way my son loves to watch also
Hey Buckin' thanks for the EXTRA content during this time, it's so nice outside right now, I'm going to save this hour long video for later tonight. Your getting a lot of people through this rough time. I watch them all and my saw is cutting like brand new from watching your techniques. LOVE IT
Love the video buckin. Hello buckin nation!! I hope everybody is staying healthy and safe. I just wanted to say we bore cut a lot in Maine. When your cutting big money wood like veneer birds eye which is rare but can pay up to 28 thousand a thousand. And when it’s 20 -30 below zero you bore cut. If you back cut it you will take the chance of splitting the butt log. And at 28 thousand a thousand you just don’t take the chance. You bore cut it. We don’t always bore cut but certain situations especially big money logs like birds eye rock maple when it’s super cold out and the wood is frozen and brittle you just do it. Those are the biggest alders I’ve ever seen!!! So awesome. You guys are so lucky to have the awesome wood that you got. Stay safe everybody!!!
Buckin' Billy Ray Smith You are some kind of wonderful human being. I have been watching your videos tonight for over two hours. Keep the saw in the wood and keep Buckin' out the videos as long as you want to make them. Cool stuff my friend
You are an inspiration to me man. Came across your videos about a month ago, and ever since I did that, I’ve taken so many new tips and tricks to work with me. In situations where I would get flustered, I now can tackle with the knowledge that you put out. Thank you for that.
Oh yes, worst fear doing bore cuts on a heavy leaner is having it sit down in your bar or taking too much from the face and not leaving enough tree to work the bore without cutting the back strap. Good work Hogan.
I am new to this channel, I cut firewood for myself in Princeton BC. Learned about the bore cut. I went to vocational school in Nanaimo for H.D.Mechanics, peace in this time.
Ur boys really coming along, Buckin. When we're all gone from this earth, youll still be living through him. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die.

If you back cut it you will take the chance of splitting the butt log. And at 28 thousand a thousand you just don’t take the chance. You bore cut it.
