just finished watching this 10 minutes ago. its 240am where i am in Australia. I had things to do, but they mean nothing compared with the impact your clip had on me. Thankyou Buckin Billy for sharing your story with me. Your a true man. Life is downright confusing as a concept. Your way of living, giving and helping others just feels good, feels right. It gives me resolve. Thankyou for being you.

I learned a lot about lumber and trees. My dad was a carpenter , and I always loved watching him building houses. Your videos on TH-cam are a learning device for me. .I really enjoy seeing you and your son , Hogan. You can tell he loves to work in the trees too. keep being yourself it's beautiful and the best thing for the world. I'm over 60 and I've just started climbing trees safely? I've done more than most and loved every moment of it. Gone from hermit to extrovert, been lucky in life far beyond average, (not a broken bone yet), mostly because I've listened to others. Keep posting your wisdom it may hit the ears of millions of useless people, but it also crashes into the ears of people who need and value the info. Thanks for sharing.

And us not only listening, but hearing, the message and taking and spreading it as well. Some days are easier than others, but we are here today, so we keep moving forward trying each day to make us the best us we can be. As for not listening to complainers. Get busy or sit and complain about almost dieing. Reminds me of morgan freedmans line in shawshank redemption. Get busy living or get busy dieing. You chose to get busy living. Thank you. Billy, you are truly an inspiration, I am just a weekend warrior so to speak, I've been running saws for most of my life, only heat we had as a kid was firewood, my dad taught me a lot. My first saw was a Husky 2100 with a 36" bar, I 've had a few small accidents, but 2 years ago I cut my leg pretty bad and while healing up I couldn't wait to get back on the saw, like I had something to prove to myself. When I first found your channel I was watching a Husqvarna felling video, I ran across a comment where a gentleman had said "if you want to learn the correct way to fall trees go watch Buckin", been hooked ever since!. I bought 25 acres in Alabama and 20 of those acres hadn't been touched in 29 years, so I had a lot of work to do. Not only have I learned real-life lessons about the trade, but I have learned and tried to live your bigger message, to be kind, and to give. It feels good to help people. thanks for keeping all of us motivated. I fell 8 trees yesterday and nailed everyone, life is good brother! Thanks.

Keep felling trees, making videos and spreading the word and stay safe my friend......Thanks for sharing your story

Brother I feel you so much . I fell 25ft off a drilling rig and had several massive injuries . I lived everyday wondering for 2 yrs afterwards if i was going to work again . I bucked up and just went back to work in the oilfields for another 30 yrs afterwards . I am now 60 yrs young .I say go go go and my body is the one that Says No No No . guess who wins that argument lol I do I still go out and do things that the Doctor said not to do . But i do have my limitations with 2 artificial knees and my back being fused from L5 to L2. pins in my right ankle and both wrists had been broken. fractured my neck. Love ya Billy ray you are awsome to watch and an inspiration to all . I also was a sawyer in my younger years before the oilfields. still do that today but at my own Leasure. My falling saw was an old 1983 056 Stihl with a 36" bar. I still have that saw and it runs like a champ. but I do prefer my 394 Huskies i have now and my Rancher for limbing.

wow, your story is an eye-opener for sure. I have got L$ and L5 collapsed discs in my back and the stain on my upper back just is exhausting as it aches and is getting worse into my mid-30s. but mine is nothing compared to yours and I seriously don't know how you do it. I remember a few years ago I did a labouring day for my uncle and I didn't want to let him down and within half hour I threw up from the pain. I had to give up my work with the number of painkillers I am on isn't safe when I have their life in my hands. I can understand you getting back out there. I love getting out in the garden and I do a few other peoples gardens as well and I do what I can. But you are an inspiration to me and I just want to keep going out into the garden. I managed to chop my first tree a month ago with an axe. it took it out of me for days but I loved doing it. even if it was in one of my manic moods it was still fun.

I heard every word you said.....Before you said em.
    I didn't die either, just after midnight on Dec 10 1995.... I was 29.
Happened just north of Lytton, and I spent some recoup time in (coincidently) Nanaimo.
Used to walk every day to "Millers Landing" just east of the ferry dock for lunch, $2.75 for a 4oz steak & pasta.
Lost 4 years and an inch and a half in height, and my 74 F250 Custom 4X4 reg cab died that night.
There's not a single thing in this world that can Break My Balls.
Here's a laugh; I just found your channel about two hours ago, and I know ALL about "Things happening for a reason", and when you say "Be Kind", I know exactly what you are saying.
Every day is a treasure revealing itself and every sunrise a treat for the eyes.

Buckin', thanks for sharing your story with us all! I, too, have had a couple close calls, 2 nearly fatal accidents, and cancer. During those times in life, when we're in deep water, and though it's tough when your head goes under, you just gotta keep treading! Not to get into too much in the comments section, you're spot on, especially about being in pain, I haven't been able to sleep an entire night in years due to pain. And when you're down, that hole is nearly impossible to get out of! I tell you what, the dirt just keeps filling in around me daily, but I have to keep trying to climb out of the hole, God has blessed me with too much not to keep on going. I feel in this life if you're on the wrong path, sometimes your path changes and very drastically for some to get us on the correct path. Anyhow, I just found your channel, I have been unable to really cut much wood since my accidents, but I recently fired up the ol' saw and run a couple tanks! I must admit, you have certainly inspired me and gave me a little inspiration to boot, thank you for that! Though I'll likely never meet you in this life, I do feel like we're friends! Take care and God bless you and your family! Jeff

(I am an old guy who stumbled on to your website via Small Engine Steve :o) With this story, I realize that there is a lot more to you than the chainsaws, edges, the spirited humor, the axes and always sage advice that you share with us in every episode. In you heartfelt story when you said "I am who I am" after the near miss accident, I remember another entity who introduced himself that way in the Good Book. You must be good friends with Him. My gut feeling, for what it is worth, He may have been the guy who flashed the images of your family members you love when your were considering taking the easy way out of this life. He may have given you the choice continue loving them here on Earth and not snap your axe handle "time piece" in half. He may have been the Guy who enabled you to project your thoughts to your work buddy that day in the woods to flip the log handling equipment 180 degrees and zoom in on you in your time of need. It may have been Him who gave you the strength to make it through the hospital when those injuries sure sounded fatal. Again, He may have helped you through your recovery, (from the injuries you described I am amazed at how fast you can split a pile of logs with usually one stroke). He may have been the one who answered you childrens' prayers so could still be with those who love you back. And now on TH-cam with your huge following of those who respect you, appreciate your helpful knowledge, you humor, your willingness to help others, and share your philosophy He may be working with you still. Live long and happily Buckin' Billy and I trust you will meet up with your watchful Friend who sounds like He enjoys and loves you just as much as all of us who invest our time in you. Good Bless and keep you & your family safe. Well, I have to get back to splitting a few cords of wood to get ready for winter.

That was God saving you brother! I have had many close calls where I’ve destroyed my body and should have died but it wasn’t my time. I always believed in God but didn’t have a relationship with Him till I hit 35 and if I had died before I Loved Jesus, I would be burning in Hell right now but I thank God that He saved me for such a time as this. He’s knocking at the door and He has showed you His love. Let Him in. Jesus said “deny me before man and I will deny you before my Father in heaven. God Bless brother! Thanks for the great videos!

when you were playing Operator and turned and looked into the camera is when the tears streamed from my eyes. I believe God blessed us all keeping you alive Buckin', first your family, and then the rest of us who see you on here. I have had my own near death situations in the bush and (the most poignant) on the Sea, and everything you described I have been through without the broken bones, I consider myself preserved. I know exactly why the operator turned, and though I won't describe it and don't expect you to go into either, yet I think you do know exactly why he turned his machine. in your heart I believe you know exactly why he turned.

Nice video. It's always interesting to hear someone's story. I think we are all part of a great whole, all connected, hence weird stuff like the operator turning around directly to you. I like huskies too. Sadly mine got stolen, he might have needed it more than me, I'll get another when I need it. Nice story.

I found your channel last week, and have really enjoyed your transparency and honesty, and excitement for life. As you told your story, and we all have one, the divine intervention that you described at your time of greatest need in the woods is what God calls His grace to us--His unmerited favor. We don't deserve any of it, and yet He gives us His favor, freely. He allowed you to be dragged off that hill alive, and He gave you a second chance. And He gave you more grace to make it through your long and painful recovery. Not just to be a great guy to a lot of people--which you are--but so you would use that second chance to trust Him as the Lord of your life, and the Savior of your eternal soul. If you have not yet taken that step of faith, I pray that you will before the next tree falls. I hope to see you on the other side!

Buckin, my man I am ,a believer, and you just ask the question, where do I want to spend eternity?, your designed to be a man of God, I can hear it in your soul, real simple , just say Jesus, I know you can. Forgive my sin, and we all are sinners, I know you died on the cross for me, and that you rose the third day, and with that belief, in your heart,...your saved, born again, to live eternity in heaven... not hell, God has saved your life for a reason, Man if you ever got plugged into Jesus with your personality and your fire 🔥, who could ever put it out, You have such a lovely soul, God can use you. Love your shows brother keep it up, and think what I told you

Midway upon the journey of my life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost.
It is here that I begin to see the light.
The questions that I ask are not made in a dark forest,
    but in an ambient that is bright;
not on a pathway that is lost, but one that winds into Salvation.

May God Bless You Always Sir ~

Thanks man for sharing your experience. It's not that easy to talk about what really matters, it costs and it's draining. To show the foundations you have to dig and break some parts of yourself. You did it in a great way. Thanks again for that heart-enhancing message.

Great story Buckin’! I’m learning to climb and recently lost a buddy. Before trees got a hold of me, I nearly went into the math and AI business. Many friends were concerned about my willingness to do AI, but I bailed on that path to avoid a sedentary, screen-tied existence. I agree with your perspective, TH-cam and/or AI is just the conduit. Shooting the messenger does little to address a deeper issue with the human condition.
