Hey Ash. Thank you for your videos they are a great help. Please can you confirm if you would pressure wash any tiles on low pressure as long as the roof tiles are not fragile? does it matter if the tiles are concrete instead of clay for example?
Hi Ash, great video! Could you do a video or share what camera you use and what settings your using? Photos always look good on social media and im looking for the same quality. Thanks in advance :)
Great job gents. I thought the 240v for the hot box is for the fan and the diesel igniter as the pressure washer provides all the pumping needed. It would be great to see a comparison of cleaning without vs with steam. The roof came up great - nice colours.
@@aemackintoshI'm seen it advertised constantly and some guy on external cleaning pages always trying to flog it but honestly it looks awful tbh .guessing I'm right by your comment if you've used it and gone to another method

to be able to use the bell/spiner with steam, could you tell me what pressure do you use? I guess need more than 30 to be able to spin? is it real steam or hot water ? Thanks (from france :) )
I think that hot water makes sense when using lower pressure (delicate surface). Then results would be not achievable with cold water and low pressure or cold water and high pressure might damage the delicate surface. But for normal strong surface it makes less sense to use hot water because you can use really high pressure with cold water without damaging anything. I guess it has less real benefits than using hot WFP.
@@aemackintosh Im a roofer and its not really best practice though is it ...far better to scrape manually then treat with biocide .....think in the long run your customers would thank you for doing it that way rather than blast it off
We are very careful about the amount of pressure we use and adjust it down. If the roof or tiles are more delicate we will take the scraping option. We recommend a regular treatment of biocide every 4/5 years for ongoing maintenance.👍🏼
Ah come on. Wind and rain has more pressure than steam. I've a absolute beast sized one wich does wow 130ps at the tip of concentrated jet. Power washer is 2000 psi.. Big difference
Quick question if ANYBODY is able to answer 🙏 I've just come off a 3 day roof clean with a surface cleaner off a ladder. I'm pretty demoralised as my back is shot to hell.. The safety aspect aside, can anybody please tell me if using a scaff-tower makes it easier on the body? Thanks 👌
Yes! Definitely! Being on a tower allows you to move your body around into more comfortable positions. It will still be quite physical and hard graft though. That’s partly why you should not under charge a roof clean job.😉👍🏼
@@aemackintosh thanks for that - I think as soon as I've got the Evo paid off I'll get on to it. Also like the idea of having a banner on it like you and Paul had 😌
A build up of moss holds moisture and can cause damage to the roof, and blockages in the gutters. So cleaning can lengthen the life of the roof. Moss can also be a nuisance if it is falling to the ground and causing a mess on the patio or driveway below. And yes, it certainly looks a lot better when it’s clean.🤩👍🏼
Sooooo .... if you clean this roof back to its original baked red color ... how long until it returns back to this original dingy, dirty, and mossy condition ?
We always treat it with biocide after cleaning, so it should last a few years. I always recommend a regular treatment of biocide every 3/4years or so for good maintenance.👍🏼

I’m not that fussed about the steam at all to be honest. I would much rather use cold water at a slightly reduced pressure.👍🏼
Hi where did you purchase the spinner?. Thanks
Rutland Pumps.👍🏼
How do you go about quoting for a job like this? do you price it higher than when using a normal pressure washer? Fantastic result! 🙂
I charge per square meter.👍🏼

Yeah, it adds up if you’re starting out from scratch. I share loads of tips and techniques in my training;

Will you be doing a review on the Ionic Systems new Roof Wand roof cleaning system?
I tested it for a year before they started selling it, and that’s why I use the method I use now.

Do you have to have a certain power wash to use a hotbox
I have a 21 litres per minute machine.👍🏼
Great work - looks like less messy with hot water , would you say it's better than normal cold water result?
I’m not sure. It seems like a lot of extra hassle for not a lot of extra benefit.🤷🏻♂️
@@aemackintosh that's what I was thinking 🤔 plus loads more gear to move about - think the result looks same as you'd normally achieve as well 😀

Be handy if it was all mounted in a van but a really big van would be needed to have everything you do inside it.
How many bars do you use and what temperature?
Is it possible to combine steam and pressure?
Yes this is steam and pressure.
HI WAT POLE SYSTEM DO U USE PLEASE
Get it from Rutland Pumps.👍🏼
Doesn't those superheated hoses that's on the grass kill the grass??
So if the water comes to the tool direct from the hot box with this setup what is the purpose of the pressure washer
You need the pressure washer to push the water through the hot box.
@aemackintosh yes I thought about it after thanks for the reply tho 👍
Ash are you replacing cracked tiles and repointing ridge tiles for customers on these jobs?
We have a good roofing contractor that we recommend to do that stuff.👍🏼
Hi ash, do you have your own mi tower or do you hire? If you do own could you let me know the company as I’m fed up hiring the tower. Thanks
Yeah, we bought an old hire model that the hire place was selling on.😉👍🏼
Soooooo….. does stream work better then? I feel like the question hasn’t been answered
Depends what you mean by better. It is possible to steam off more of the black spots and lichen, but it will take longer.
Is there less mess due to less water (with it being steam not water )
Thought roofs wernt meant to be pressure washed only soft washed with biocides to avoid damaging the protective coating on the tiles
Not all tiles have a protective coating.
