    Great job the both of you. I have just down my first roof clean from Mi tower and FSC then Bio brushed in. Quite a big roof for the first one and I am over the moon with the results. Expensive buying all the gear but bought now and quite a few roofs booked in. Doing that customers lockblock driveway next week as well. Been quite the journey in the last year.
    You helped a lot with excellent advice which I can’t thank you enough for.

    Great video boys. Nice to hear details of pricing and the effort you put in. Also nice to see someone who cares about the finish and not just the cleaning if that makes sense. I see some people blast away at higher pressure to get all the lichen off as if the immediate finish is most important. You show it's more important for the long term finish by letting the biocide do the finishing touches. Great work. Thanks for sharing. Dave.

    I think what you done was good value especially when you mentioned there was the biocide treatment to remove all the white spots this kind of work isnt going to be done by most house owner themselves - the results were impressive.

    for a terraced ex-council house I take about £400 to dry scrape it (3 - 4 days work) in Scotland. There are usually 960 tiles on the roof (30 columns x 16 rows on each side)

      @@highkingcctv409 I've never done it but when I'm scraping roofs neighbours often come out to chat about it and the most common complaint I hear about the power-washing is the mess it makes at ground-level. One guy said his paving was 'ruined' and he would have far preferred my approach

    Well done Ashley great job,you work very hard for what you earn and its not easy getting up at that height to clean a roof,you make it look easy because of your experience and skillset but its far from easy,as with all self employment some jobs you can make more on and they go ever so well and others not so much,im glad you reloaded the video as its the right thing to do and lesson learned,as human beings we can all make wee mistakes and its no big deal,we learn every day and its all part of life 😊good on you

    Hi from Florida USA - I would love it if you did a whole video on the scaffold and the long pole (w/surface cleaner) set up - you would end up influencing an entire industry here that does it wrong (apparently, after watching you). I figure you charged 8 x 110 = 880 - good price for a roof SO mucked up. (and you included gutters and windows). Also, consider having people
    apprentice with you for a day (for roofs) if they can make it to england (for $1,000) per day - would be worth it! 🙂

      Yeah, I get some strange comments from the USA from people who think I’m cleaning shingles. I wouldn’t recommend doing it like this on shingle roofs.

      @@aemackintosh Oh no - not shingles - ceramic tile - no one uses your scaffold and pole method, they do soft wash (bleach spray the roof) Your method is a game changer 🙂

      I’ve tried every method. The key to it is understanding how the pressure is applied to the surface and reducing the power coming from the machine to suit the surface you’re cleaning, as well as using the right tool for the job.😉👍🏼

    I'm about to venture into this with a friend to add to window cleaning & pressure washing. Your videos are a massive help to us. Just wondered if you go as far as getting the customer to sign anything in regards to responsibility over leaks if there are broken tiles not seen? Also any advice on insurance companies?     That pressure valve looks amazing. Certainly stop the need for up and down all the time to the machine 🤔.
    Random one, but do you do any strength and conditioning work to keep your back strong and prevent strain injuries?

      I suppose I’ve built up a certain amount of strength naturally from always doing a physical job. I don’t do any extra exercises, but I have had an occasional trip to the chiropractor over the years.

    @3:21 and @6:56 You forgot to clean the edge of the roof (left side of image). The fungus there could easily spread to the roof and grow back.

      The whole roof is treated with biocide to kill any organic growth left in the surface and helps prevent it coming back so quickly.

    800 quid lol. almost doing the job for free.
    had a quote here in sweden to our roof. about 200m2. 4 grand sterling. no way i'm paying that ffs. almost finished doing ours myself. having a few days rest. damn hard work up on the roof for 8 hours non stop

    I asked this also on other video, but does the pole work hurt the back? I can lways get on the roof and clean it with a turbo nozzle, but i feel like there must be a more efficient way of doing this.

      It can be hard on your back, you don’t want to twist it, but it’s harder on your arms and shoulders I suppose. I’m not keen on using a turbo nozzle. This method is more gentle and the pressure balances the weight of the tool.

    8 pounds per square meter, that comes out to about one US dollar per square foot. Brother I am struggling to get jobs at 15 cents a square foot in South Florida. Obviously the cleaning method is quite different, but still. I'd say you're charging pretty well lol

    What about gutters? I see that gutters are directly mounted to drain system, and it looks like you don't take them off? All garbage from roof are floating down to drain system pipes???

    Great job mate. I'm thinking of adding roof cleaning to my pressure washing business. Can you tell me if the hose going into your pole is a lightweight one of the standard braided hose? Also is the pole you have really rigid or is there a good bit of flex in it. Thanks in advance

    Great video, would you charge the same for scraping and softwash? Working my way towards getting a pressure washer and having just started I've been quoting at around £8 per m too including softwash and gutter clear

      I would charge similar for scraping etc although it’s more labour intensive in some ways. It depends on the roof and what the customer wants.👍🏼

      It can depend on the type of roof, but I find it easier just to use cold water at low pressure.

    What is the biocide you use? I’m wanting to do my own roof. I’ve already removed the moss last year but need to get it sprayed.

      Algo Clear is a great biocide which they also sell a version for the domestic market. It’s a great way to maintain your roof if you use it every couple of years or so.👍🏼

      How do you feed the brush on the end of the 30ft pole when your applying the biocide? is it direct from the pressure washer or do you have a separate small water (softwash) pump set up feeding the biocide through it....

      The swirly gadget would definitively coat the roof faster than the brush. Or am I thinking wrong here?

    I hear that pressure washing damages the roof tiles, is this correct ?

      If it’s done badly then yes you could damage the roof. It’s exactly the same for a patio or driveway, it can also be damaged by someone who doesn’t take care over what they’re doing.

      Dude it’s flow rate. Those machines need 21 litres a minute on top output. Your tap puts out 9pm! So in theory your machine won’t get enough water. Bigger jobs like tennis courts etc need much bigger than a wheelie bin. Hope this helps

      Not if you keep it parallel to the tile, don’t let it drop down over the lip of the tile as you go down.
