These guys made me see why some people go crazy over certain bands and music, I thought it was all fake and idiotic. Sparks have given me that passion and now it makes sense (to me anyway) I totally love their work and will do for as long as its around.. Awesome :)
Sometimes i dont listen to Sparks for months on end, and then just out of the blue i'll come across them and get totally blown away all over again, each and every time!!
I agree. I saw them yesterday in Berlin and I just don´t get it...They are brilliant and an hour before the concert there was just 13 people... In the end about 100. From my country (Czech Republic at least 7), some Russians, some English, some people from Denmark...Young and older...but only 100. I felt embarassed, they deserve more than this!!!!
I was a great fan of Sparks in the late 70's. I completely forgot them and rediscovered these recordings recently. Absolutely brilliant!!! thanx for sharing
this music makes me feel so happy, this song is special, i think it would be the last thing i ever wanted top hear, i never though i would like anything better than the seventies hits. They have invented their own music category
The band with the Brothers Mael, Ron and Russell. Russell has the high-pitch voice. Ron has the peculiar dance on stage, for which he starts a countdown using his fingers. A band with incredible depths of originality, humour, and talent.
Always loved them and the fact that there off- centre means the centre shifts to them now and again these guys really do love the music they play. I wish they would get more recognition for there brilliant songwriting.

@@robertdavidson9393, who woke up beside Ron or Russell? 😂😂😂😂😂! I know what you mean, well, yeah, "a woman's got to do, what a woman's got to do" you know 😉 😂! Good to see that you're alive in these times 💖
Beautifully eccentric and some kind of new compositional plateau for Ron. I think they played this in Toronto last November at Lee's, as the duo Mael. I think Russell was wearing a Brownie outfit (junior Girl Guides): the requisite sartorial lunacy. Anyway, Sparks delivered the cookies.
I saw them in The Hague (The Netherlands) on September 14Th, so last month. Russell is now 69, and Ron 72. Still dynamic, it was a pleasure to have had the opportunity to see and hear them live. They are, like we say, still going strong! (And also played this song)
Ron was born in August 1945, Russell in October 1948. May their health remain good and let them live long! 🙏💖💖💖💖💖 (Is it possible to ask for that without God shouting "What the hell is it this time?!" 🤣 🤣 🤣)
I just don't know if I feel happy or sorry for the guy in the lyrics 🤔🤔. He is so happy, hopeful, unsure, insecure. Makes me want to give him a hug, no, sorry, da svidaniya doesn't mean "good morning"...😞
No resemblance what so ever!!! BUT there's a link. Nomi's "musical director" was Kristian Hoffman, with whom Russell have (written and?) recorded a song, 'Devil May Care' (2002) Hoffman has worked with Ann Magnuson since the 70s, Magnusson appeared in 'The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman' at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. Anyway, NO likeness at all!! 😂

"I hope it's just your laugh that is infectious"
Genius.
First time I heard that line I nearly fell off my chair!
especially during this times

У нас в Москве повалил снегопад...а посмотрел и послушал этих ЗАМЕЧАТЕЛЬНЫХ РЕБЯТ и на душе ПРАЗДНИК!...
Their music has fascinated me since I was at school- there's no one like them 😀😀
Ron's face throughout this video is just priceless. Never seen him so straightfaced. Love it.

Always loved them and the fact that there off- centre means the centre shifts to them now and again these guys really do love the music they play. I wish they would get more recognition for there brilliant songwriting.
Just love Ron's warm up!
OK. It’s plugged in. Let’s do this...............Ron Mael. 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
this is as good as it gets. utter perfection
Je ne découvre cela que aujourd'hui ?!!! aaargh, mais c'est excellent!!!!

LYRICS by Ron Mael/Sparks ✨
Good morning
Who are you?
I woke up and saw you
I'm dreaming, still dreaming
My life is now about to have some meaning
Good morning
I'm thinking
I must have
Been drinking
And said something clever
It must have been the best line from me ever
Thank you, God, for something rare as this
What surely must have been a holy night of bliss
Gratitude for having thought of me
I know your time is tight, and yet you thought of me
Good morning
You woke up
Got dressed up
Hair messed up
While I fix you breakfast
I hope it's just your laugh that is infectious
Good morning
In sorrow
I know that
Tomorrow
You'll be with some winner
Who's richer, younger, maybe even thinner
Rubles in the bank and petrol in the tank of some Mercedes Benz
Who spends and spends and spends on booked up restaurants
A thousand phony fronts
But will he ever wish you a good morning?
Thank you, God, for something rare as this
What surely must have been a holy night of bliss
Gratitude for having thought of me
I know your time is tight, and yet you thought of me
And did I stumble, have a fall?
Hit my head against a wall?
At some point did we trade vows?
Are you just some high-priced service from uptown?
Good morning
Buon giorno
Ohayo
Buenas dias

I love this song..makes me feel good.
Good Morning, Ron et Russell!!!
love it. Sparks for ever!!!!!
I feel like Sparks is some kind of Rush-meets-TMBG/DEVO/Queen cult secret I'm only just now discovering.
Have pleasure, Steena! I know them since 1974, but I am 62, so I have had some extra years.
René Bil same.
The same for me

"Good Morning, who are you?" - genius.
That's one great-sounding basement. Is the fuzzy synth part pre-recorded?
Russell looks great for his age considering he must be nearing 60 (though I suspect his hair is partially CGI these days).
He was 62 when this was recorded and is 66 currently.
