What is it, twenty plus albums, not every one a masterpiece (though several are) but there's something to love on every single one. Long may they reign.
I did not know that the group "Sparks" had been around in the early 70s!!! I thought they were an obscure 80s band!!! I remember seeing their videos on MTV!!! And I saw the perform on late night TV!!! I think it was SNL or the TV show FRIDAYS!!! I can't remember!!! This band is brilliant!!! They should be bigger in popularity!!! They are so damn good!!!!☺😃☺😃😊😄😃☺😁😁🎵🎶🎼🎶🎵🎸🎸🎸
@@consma1 That's awesome that Sparks retained and kept their following and I'm sure attracted NEW die hard fans though out the passing years!!!! 😊😊🙂🙂😄😄😄😀 The Mael Brothers have been in the music business 50 plus years!!!!
HA! Sparks never fails to entertain and teach. How can two guys and one band deliver as much as they have?!? They should be celebrated as gods (gods of silliness and timeless original music).
My mother saw this when it aired on BBC American in 2009, saved the clip, showed it to me and she's become a bigger fan of the group each year. Two nights ago I took her, age 78, to see them perform live in Seattle. She just loved it.
I just discovered this band... I know... where have I been??? I clicked on someone's link.. and I LOVE THEM !!!! - Buying their new CD today... then more later.
Just buy all their albums. ha ha. Personally, just my opinion, kimono my house, propaganda, and indiscreet are my favourite albums. But songs from every album grab you.
If you like this song, listen to sparks doing "my way" but i must warn you it is the best song ever written and you will then be hooked on them,i have been an addict since the 70s.You have been warned.
I remember when this episode first aired, I wanted to record it, but I never did get it. I'd been looking for the episode on the net for download since 2009, but could never find it. This was as close as I got to finding the episode so far...at least after all these years, I finally got to see the Sparks performance again. Thank You for this - Much appreciated. CHEERS ; )
this is the dogs!!!! I have adored Sparks since I was 9. I love the whole song, but especially the piano sections, reminds me of Serge Gainsbourg's work
They got me with their "This town ain't big enough for the both of us". And I can't believe... that Ron really wears this bad-fitting trousers ;-). Well, be it as it may, they may be a bit weird, but they've got a certain something. And this already for over 40 years. Go, sparks!
Dario Western Just being cheeky...Ron Mael has never sung a note in their whole career. Or: "I can't believe you would fall for all the crap in my comment" :D
Everyone told me Sparks wouldnt last and they where crap ...I said they would I was mad about Sparks in the 70s still love them to this day good fun people just dont GET Sparks ....smart people DO!
You Have to hear the following songs by sparks and find the vids too. 1) This Town aint big enough for the two of us. 2) BC 3) Amateur Hour 4) Never Turn Your Back On Mother Nature 5) Cool Places (With Jane Wiedlin 6) The Number One Song In Heaven I swear you will love them all
You either get it or you don't. Watch their video of "this town ain't big enough for the both of us" from 1974. Brilliant, Ron Mael (who writes most of their music / lyrics is a genius and his brother Russel (the singer) has an exceptional voice, don't expect everyone to like their music. I'm sure Pop Idol and Factor contestants are more up Teheifi and his types street. LOL
Who's the bass player - Mmmmmm - very nice!! Incidently, I'd never even heard of this band until I saw them on this show - thought they were fab!! Must hear more!
It's just his gimic. At live gigs and in quite a few videos he's always straight faced, and barely cracks a smile. He also plays the keyboard for much longer in other songs. This particular song though had him do a few actions as well, as the act required it.
I love how Ron has a microphone in front of him but doesnt utter a sound. And we know he can sing. I love his version of Mid-Atlantic.
This is one of my favourite Sparks songs! CLASS! ⚡️
"Sparks" should be an adjective to describe perfect, genial, artistic, timeless, unique, hot, addictive.
100%
Can't imagine life without Sparks ....... pure genius.
Still as brilliant as they were 40 yrs ago
Sparks are the real deal. Pure class act. Brilliant as ever.
What is it, twenty plus albums, not every one a masterpiece (though several are) but there's something to love on every single one. Long may they reign.
Ron Mael is a fucking master. Epic guy.
I have watched and listened to these guys since 1971′s “Sparks/Halfnelson” LP. They are as good if not better than ever!!! Love live Sparks!
Augmuse I first saw Sparks in 1974, I'll be seeing FFS soon.
Loved Ron Mael since I was 14. Nothing has changed!
I've been a fan since 1945 when i felt that Sparks coming!
The World will never be ready for Sparks!
Sparks have always been one of the most inovative, original and progressive bands around.
I did not know that the group "Sparks" had been around in the early 70s!!! I thought they were an obscure 80s band!!! I remember seeing their videos on MTV!!! They are so damn good!!!!☺😃☺😃😊😄😃☺😁😁🎵🎶🎼🎶🎵🎸🎸🎸
Believe me, they are popular! As evidenced when I went to see them at RAH in May.....just followed the crowd. It was a bloody fantastic concert!
@@consma1 That's awesome that Sparks retained and kept their following and I'm sure attracted NEW die hard fans though out the passing years!!!! 😊😊🙂🙂😄😄😄😀 The Mael Brothers have been in the music business 50 plus years!!!!
The first band I saw live back in 1974 and they still make me smile :)
+zygolex My second live band - also 1974
Same year, same first band. Hastings Pier on the Kimono tour.
Always inventive, always moving forwards always brilliant
Gotta love their choreography!
OMG I love Sparks!
HA! Sparks never fails to entertain and teach. How can two guys and one band deliver as much as they have?!? They should be celebrated as gods (gods of silliness and timeless original music).
has to be one of the best moments ever seeing this for the first time...total genius.....epic comedy
mi
My good they’re brilliant.
Accidentally catching this when it was shown was what made me a Sparks fan.
My mother saw this when it aired on BBC American in 2009, saved the clip, showed it to me and she's become a bigger fan of the group each year. Two nights ago I took her, age 78, to see them perform live in Seattle. She just loved it.
Me too! And I'm glad your mum had a great time Beth ❤
They are best. We can all agree on that.
i absolutely love sparks, such originals, and so funny too.
Love it. I can't get enough of Sparks!!!! *-*

But songs from every album grab you.
i hope that this son will go in high places in charts
If you like this song, listen to sparks doing "my way" but i must warn you it is the best song ever written and you will then be hooked on them,i have been an addict since the 70s.You have been warned.

Saw them at Leeds University in 1974. Awesome then, awesome now.
Unbelievable! Discovered them only in 2010, and am totally transfixed....

this is the dogs!!!! I have adored Sparks since I was 9. I love the whole song, but especially the piano sections, reminds me of Serge Gainsbourg's work
Of whom they are fans 👍
Fabulous intro. for a fabulous band! SPARKS!
They got me with their "This town ain't big enough for the both of us". And I can't believe... that Ron really wears this bad-fitting trousers ;-). Well, be it as it may, they may be a bit weird, but they've got a certain something. And this already for over 40 years. Go, sparks!
I've always wondered about Ron's trousers. Either too long or too short, baggy and too high up!! But he always looks wonderful.
Forever Sparks!
Wow! Ron Mael's voice has only gotten better over the years! ;)
Did he actually sing on this song?
Dario Western
Just being cheeky...Ron Mael has never sung a note in their whole career.
Or: "I can't believe you would fall for all the crap in my comment" :D
Dario Western Yes, he only sings in a couple of songs but he does sing.
Like Milli Vanilli?
@@emptyradio1, Ron actually sings, hm, sort of, on Collaboration don't work with FFS. One line 😂👍
Everyone told me Sparks wouldnt last and they where crap ...I said they would I was mad about Sparks in the 70s still love them to this day good fun people just dont GET Sparks ....smart people DO!

I saw them in Toronto on Saturday (Nov 2)...loved every minute of it! Just the two brothers, but can they rock a room!
Sees “ Sparks “ just hits like button

Immer noch top.
absolutely amazing
The bass player is Marcus Blake from Mother Superior :)
And Sparks is definitely fab!
Love the way it says 'Ronald' instead of 'Roland' on the keyboard!
Only 298 including me on a planet of several billion actually like this and I Iove it but not really from this planet so makes a lot of sense !
Love it!
Great song!!!
As with most of you, I too was at the forum that night... and the night after lol! Always great to see them live :)
What a great title for a song!!

Really really good stuff.
Because everyone knows the best keyboards are made by "Ronald"

Gosh how I love these two fabulous brothers!
Dang it they are so good!
Real live music - fab!
Can't get enough of looking at Ron. I'm happy he exists :)

brill stuff sparks. A lot of the new bands like Muse are using their sound. Long may sparks continue to write and preform
that's the 2nd keyboard I have seen with the logo changed from Roland to Ronald :D
I thought it was an optical illusion because I was watching RON playing it?! 😂
You Have to hear the following songs by sparks and find the vids too. 1) This Town aint big enough for the two of us. 2) BC 3) Amateur Hour
4) Never Turn Your Back On Mother Nature
5) Cool Places (With Jane Wiedlin 6) The Number One Song In Heaven
I swear you will love them all
I love how the brothers are really sharing the stage nowadays.
Love the way the keyboard makers name 'Roland' is rearranged to spell Ron's christian name ('Ronald').
THE Sparks... doh!
I like when he says Russel writes the songs and Ron does his funny chin scratch!
I love when they do the amps, and change Marshall to Russell. Happens less often, just as funny.

Same here. Why didn't it do better in the charts?
Who's the bass player - Mmmmmm - very nice!!

Must hear more!
you either get sparks or you don't. "possibly the greatest band on the planet".
if they were parisian, the french would have dedicated a park to them.
"Hey what if we played 'Spirit In The Sky' backwards but, you know, it didn't SUCK."
well to be geeky, thats actually a yamaha Motif .. but we still get the same effect ;)
It's just his gimic. At live gigs and in quite a few videos he's always straight faced, and barely cracks a smile. He also plays the keyboard for much longer in other songs. This particular song though had him do a few actions as well, as the act required it.
exotic creatures of the deep
Me too :D
Ron's been doing that since at least the early 80's.
