@@Trukstufwhen you do something like this can you/will you give the customer an option to put something like the banks monster ram on it instead of the factory air horn? I did the banks kit on my ‘20 and loved it unfortunately that truck was stolen so now I’m looking at what to do first on my ‘24.
Man, I've got a '24 3500 with 10,000 km's on it so far. My engine makes a ticking noise, not consistently, but variably all the time and more noticeable at 1000 rpm and higher when standing bout 30ft away. I took it in for its first oil change at 3000 km's. Noticed the noise the next day. Took it back a week later with 4100 km's and they ended up replacing all the lifters as 3 were not good. (Part of the diagnosis was putting in fresh oil and filter in which they did) They thought they had it fixed with replacing the lifters and gave it back to me. I got the truck and noticed the same noise again. Had another dealership do an oil change at 9000 kms the other day. To me it sounds in the bottom end. It's going to go back to the dealer I purchased it from as they bend over backwards to make sure I'm happy with everything to get this noise taken care of. Just kinda disappointed that I having issues with this from new
I bet if the customers got a chance to meet the tech that’s going to work on their vehicle and can be assured that the work will be to the standard that I saw on this video more people would go to the dealer when the CEL comes on. Unfortunately many people just get robbed. I appreciate these videos and admire your attention to detail. I’m currently sitting at 95k miles on my 21 5th gen. Got all recalls performed on it by the dealer and had the p2459 code come up twice. My mechanic erased the code for me and told me if it comes back take it to the dealer. It’s been over 10k miles and no CEL. Unfortunately a weight loss program is my only option once it hits 100k miles.
Not joking, our 2012 duramax went on a diet at 314 miles on the clock! Less than a month old! Fuk the warranty imo! Most of the damage takes place before the warranty runs out, severely shortening its lifespan. 99k on it now, ZERO issues and engine is still pristine, entire truck actually! Not a gamble for the faint of heart, I could afford a new engine way back then, but now not so much with 2 kiddos, but I also have piece of mind now about the longevity, plus I just did CP3 swap.
This is why I unplugged my grid heater at the battery. ZERO worry about sticking relay or melting bolt to break off. Usually won’t toss a code, and the occasional time it does I just clear the code again. Easy peasy. Maybe show people where to disconnect the damn thing would be good!
Awesome information glad mine is massaged and the grid heater gone these can be great trucks but they are not perfect. They are set up for failure by the EPA.
I have a 23 standard output. No recall for grid heater relay. Why is that? Only recall that I have had since buying the truck new was the turn signal one. That was taken care of by my dealer. Why no recall for my 5th gen grid heater relay?
Nope. The preheat light goes off quick even when cold if a condition is present for an issue with the system. Light is controlled by pcm preheat on time and not actually time preheated is on. If the relay is stuck on but pcm is not commanding on then light goes out right after
Awesome videos , thanks for the professionalism , where is your shop located? I only have 28,000 miles on my fifth gen .. I also did an extended warranty to 250,000 miles, what's your thoughts on upgrading to the banks intake while still under warranty? Thanks , and I value your advise.....
Unfortunately some dealers won’t get you in for weeks. Had an issue with my Ram and dealer was 3 weeks out at the time. Was 2023 I think so not sure if it’s gotten better since but was pretty frustrating at the time.
What did you say the correct part number (and any other necessary details) for the mass air flow sensor made in China was? Was it ARBVN? I wanted to write it down because I do get frequent DPF regens and want to be able to tell my dealer service department.
Josh I have a 2023 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. I already installed a Banks Monster Ram intake on it, but now I'm hearing we can legally delete the DPF and EGR systems in the near future. My question to you is what DPF/ EGR delete kit would you suggest to use?
How many miles did the vehicle have when this occurred? I plan on doing the heater grid delete when I hit 100k. My dealership would probably void my warranty if I do it sooner.
Josh in your opinion of the big 3 diesels on the market what do you think is the most reliable. I always drive a Cummins my 23 is solid, but I have been liking the l5ps and the powerstrokes lately
I was wondering if you take a rubber coating and go over the grid heater bolt that would cut down on the corrosion and replace your relay that goes to the red heater to keep that carbon off the bolt aura rubber boot oh, I’m sorry so solenoid yeah let me know cause I think something rubber or that bolt and that way it doesn’t fall into number six or number five cylinders
if the dealers in ms gave a shit we would trust them. when they can't figure out a basic stuck injector that destroys your engine after they bill you 10k for a whole dpf that don't fix it get it back then takes a piston out right outside warranty. but this dumb semi truck mechanic called it. your good but don't claim all are because if you take anything to are dealer you get it back worse shape then you left it. If anyone thinks dodge/ram/jeep cares nope
The country needs more techs like you.
Thank you so much!!!

@@Trukstuf Hey Bud, question I recently deleted my 2024 Ram 3500 and I put the Banks Cold air intake and is giving me P0234 Code
Banks is aware of this issue and last I heard they are in R&D to remedy it
Great content as usual and sound advice! I would take my truck to the dealer if they were like you. After my last visit, I have little faith in them.

I make sure the grid nut isn't loose on the pre check. Stock 2017 5500 overworked, but maintenance every 60 days of usage without issue.

Great info. With that mass air flow sensor with ARBVN-China, is there a different sensor part# too or just a different manufacturing code?
After I get back to work next week I’ll do a video in this subject and hopefully clear up any questions

This man is a gift but unfortunately most of us can’t get close enough.
Thank you Dr! So are dealers covering the grid heater failure or only under extended warranties?
I would contact your local dealer to see if they are doing so.
I disconnected that relay a year ago and have had no issues. Doesn't get terribly cold here in TX.
I have a '13 so maybe it may be different than this truck but wouldn't the pre-heat light stay on if the relay was stuck?
Nope. The preheat light goes off quick even when cold if a condition is present for an issue with the system. Light is controlled by pcm preheat on time and not actually time preheated is on. If the relay is stuck on but pcm is not commanding on then light goes out right after

I’m in Salt Lake City Utah. I recommend the banks monster ram and we won’t void warranty if you have or get one

Do the jiggle test every time you are under the hood, folks.

Replace with BANKS MONSTER RAM INTAKE!!!!!
I’m sorry if I sound ignorant and I apologize for my English but if I replace the intake like you said can I lose the warranty?
Replace it with a Banks it is a much better design IMO:P
Its the relay , ITS NOT BOLT
Another sound advice video...178 key cycles?? Not too smart driver!!
