It's no different to a house pet like a dog being taught tricks by its owner. Also they learn to ride (physically, at least) safely & are not actually strapped to the dogs. It's just they get confident at holding on & in fact, once the monkeys are used to it, actually relish the rush of riding in the same way as when kids finally master riding bikes. The issue of psychological harm I see a problem with but not physical. Monkeys have much higher cartilage & muscle mass compared to humans & can cope with any G-force much more easily so no issue of physical injury.

When the dogs make sharp, quick turns, the monkeys are whipped side to side and back to front putting a lot of force and torque on the mid-spine. Also these animals are most likely wild caught when very young and now living in very unnatural, highly stressful conditions.
the monkeys have much lower bodymass than the dogs and the strength of bone and cartilage relative to their mass is very high compared to humans. smaller things almost ALWAYs survive greater g-forces before sustaining damage.

I have been a vegetarian for 30+ years and have worked at animal shelters, so I think I speak with some authority when I say that this is absolutely not cruel to animals.
Being a vegetarian and working with animals don't make you aware of what's going on in their lives and how they ended up doing this. Clearly using animals and making them doing stuff for entertainment is a perfect example of the perversion many humans have, being wanting to control and dominate their world and other species (including ones of his own). Sorry I don't agree that it's cruel and I am a very devout animal lover. I think it is SOOO cool. I love the old west and I watch all the shows like Gunsmoke, Bonanza etc., and to see those monkeys dressed like cowboys and riding those dogs with little saddles.... WOW!!!

The Borders enjoy it and the Monkeys seem to enjoy it too. So rather than complaining this is cruel, look outside, and see what other animal cruelty is happening right now.

I don't think its fair to say that the border collies enjoy this rodeo, or the monkeys. These dogs are trained to stop and start abruptly so that the monkeys are violently jerked up and down and side to side, risking serious injury. They are taken from their mothers shortly after being born, -which is a cruel practise for the mothers and the babies. They are also forced to perform tricks, which is confusing and un natural for them, and as a result, the monkey "performers" often develop neurotic and self-destructive behavior. Many suffer from debilitating loneliness and depression. All animals should be treated fairly, so i wouldn't go telling other people who are concerned about this to leave it and focus on other animals being treated poorly ✌🏼

The correct term is 'collies' not borders. i have also grown up with dogs and i am very passionate about them, i can read a dogs body language. The dogs shown here are trained to put on a show, we wouldn't if they are bothered or not. After the show they are most likely kept in a cage, with little food until training time. Monkeys riding dogs is far from natural, you cant speak for them saying that they simply are happy and not bothered hun
