I just bought mine this week from Sam's Club for a little over $200. I would say its great for daily surface cleaning till I have time to do a nice deep cleaning on my floors. Whitch for me is once a week, but even so, it still saves me a ton of time on sweeping every day. And it's great on my days that I am out in the garden and track some dirt in. I don't get any alerts for when it's full either, so it's not her phone, but the Roomba. All and all, I'm actually quite happy with my 1st robot vacuum at such a great price.
Thanks for your review. I actually ordered this E5 last nite from Amazon. Guess I should have searched for more info ahead of time, but after watching your very thorough review, I think it’ll be just fine for my small house. Thank you and God Bless.
Serious question. If it makes enough noise that you don’t want it on when working, then doesn’t the longer time to randomly vacuum your house make it more annoying than vacuuming it yourself at a much faster rate?
After my Neato Botvac decided to develop yet another issue, I quickly ordered an e5 without really comparing models. I'm glad it seems like an OK choice.
I bought one of these a few days ago from the iRobot UK website. It was a special price (UK£300) and included a virtual wall and spare HEPA filter. I've had several robot vacs before, all in the "budget" category, and this one is definitely the best, and the quietest. Your review is very fair, but you don't mention that this robot, like every other I've had, has issues with striped and dark carpets; I had to tape small pieces of paper on the cliff sensors so that it would work properly. I've had this problem with every other robot so I was expecting it. Of course, with this mod, the robot can only be used downstairs, but that's fine for me since I've got an unmodified Roomba for upstairs. Apart from the cliff sensor issue I'm really pleased with it.
Hi! How can I turn off the rumba to get packed again in his box, after a cleaning? The instruccions says to press and hold the HOME button 9 seconds, but for me, it doesn´t work. And always get this vacuum with low battery if is not charging all the time.
No. It will go itself. Just takes a bit to get there. If you want an inexpensive bot that you can send to each room look at my reviews of Roborock or Ecovacs here on the channel.
This neighbor here in the United States thoroughly enjoyed your review video. Thank you so much for such a thorough and well shot video review! A well-deserved "thumb's up" from me!!
I picked mine up from a cosigner, thinking there had to be SOMETHING wrong with it. The only idea I have is the lack of sucking. Which it should do! It's either not sucking or its really quite. And I can't tell if its supposed to be that loud?!
Can you do a couple of tests where are you sprinkle some flower or rice on the floor to see if it’s actually picking things up? Almost sounds like there’s a blockage inside somewhere? You could also check the dust bin and see if it’s too full, or if there’s something stuck in the suction tube that goes between the floor and the dustbin
How tall is this model? I had one of the very first models years ago and it tended to get stuck under the overhang of my kitchen cabinets, that said I was hoping newer models might be not as tall.
Hello, I would like to thank for your review; which model do you recommend the most and why ... try to get my iRobot but don’t know which one I can choose. Thanks again
I just got an e5 and love it so far just have a question on how to access and use favorites. I thought I had set up a room as a favorite and choose a color but when I press the favorites it just shows vacuum everywhere. Thanks for your help
I have alot of cables in my home in different areas of the house since I work from home. Should I move my cables before a clean or can the S9+ navigate around them fairly easily? Wondering if that could harm the robot or my ethernet cables?
Thanks for an informative review, Erin. One important question: can I use the e5 WITHOUT a smartphone? That is, does it have a manual remote or control buttons on the unit? I'll appreciate your answer. Thanks again.
That's an interesting question. I went through the setup procedure using an Android tablet, but once I finished, I realised that the app is pretty pathetic and I'll never actually use the app again; I'll just use the buttons on the top of the robot to start the cleaning sequence. However, I don't think that it will run at all until you've been through the setup procedure, and that needs either an Apple or Android phone or tablet. I don't think you can do it using a Mac or Windows (or Linux) computer. You could ask a friend with a smart phone to set it up for you, but that requires you sharing your wireless network password with your friend. You'll also need to think up a name for your robot. I suspect most people choose Robbie!
I named mine BotBot and almost named it Little Helper. Haha And I actually put it to clean before doing the Set up. So, no. You dont need a smart phone to get started. Just charge and press start.
I appreciate your review - I just bought an e5 and it certainly does the job. I do have 2 questions though, and haven't found where to get answers - including on your blog!. If you have any, please reply! 1. The app asks me to designate & color-code 'favorites' (rooms) but I don't see any way to use that info since there is no mapping sensor in the roomba. Am I missing something here? 2. it seems to have trouble finding its way home - stays in the adjacent room rather than heading toward the charger. Does that get better in time? Thanks!
I have the same 2 problems as you do. The color code issue doesn’t bother me seeing you can’t map out rooms anyway. over all I am happy with the iRobot e5 .
I paid $999aud in March 2021 I really like it I have an all tile house with a couple of rugs I’m at home so I just keep an eye on what Roomba is up to It does seem to redo areas I think are fine so I just move it It’s random Andy erratic in its path but does the job I’ve been son over by robot vacs so if this one doesn’t work out I’ll upgrade
Hello. Very good video. I looking for some help. I have 80+ year old parents. They want one, but they're no way...uh...technology literate let's say. Ha! Are there options for them? Just turn on and go? Under $300?
I can't agree. I bought one of these, and it is a joke. Misses huge swaths of floor, cleans some areas multiple times. Totally unacceptable performance.
My Roomba RVD-Y1 works really well in my home and I was very skeptical of what it would be able to do, due to the course it would have to take around the house and obstacles in the way but I got home with it and unpacked it and plugged in the base for it and waited till it was fully charged and so then it was Showtime!!..🤔...... And off it went with me in tow as I walked behind it to see if it could handle making sudden stopping, turning and backing up and still do the job and at the end I was very very amazed at what it could do performance wise,, and so I give it an 8 1/2 outta 10 and my friends have jumped on board with the Roomba RVD-Y1 as well after witnessing it in action! So I highly recommend it for anyone over any other brand on the market 💯..... 🤖🪄

How did it go?

Thank you so much. Your insight was really helpful. Just bought an e5 for Black Friday! That bin gets FULL quick lol. But I have mostly hardwood.

Very well done. Well spoken. And love your brand messaging. Keep it up! 👍🏼
Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. In my house we have one, it tends to turn left when moving forward without obstacles. Don't know if it is normal?
Maybe one of the wheels is locked?
@@ErinLawrenceTV Thanks!
thank you, this video was very helpful in helping me make a decision on which vac to purchase. It provided detailed pros and cons and comparisons.
Great to hear! Thank you!
You would be a perfect news reporter.
Thanks Cheyenne! Been there, done that. 😎🤓😆
Curious, new to this product, looking at getting the e5. Do you have to manually place robot into each room you want to clean ? Thanks
No. It will go itself. Just takes a bit to get there. If you want an inexpensive bot that you can send to each room look at my reviews of Roborock or Ecovacs here on the channel.
@@ErinLawrenceTV Thank you so much for your reply...Sam's has the Roomba e5 on sale for 200.00. Think I'm going to do it.

I noticed that, too. I think it's because the e5 doesn't have room mapping. I just carry it to the room I want to clean and press the button ;-)
@@mandolinic agree!
Hello, is it self charging?
Yes. When it runs low on battery it will return to its base station to recharge.

What do you mean your wife has one? Help her clean the house bro

2 the app for the e5 does not have much for options
But it’s quiet enough for night cleaning in a apt
