The way that helped me learn the mistle thrush was to imagine it's saying "I'm a care bear". Great video as always Lucy!

I have just stumbled on your series this morning, lying in bed having awoken far too early and listening to a very loud songster right outside my bedroom window. It turns out it was a chaffinch - thank you @Lucy_Lapwing Are you planning on any more.? Your tips are so helpful in distinguishing birds from other similar ones. I live in a small town with a beautiful river running through the centre which attracts quite a number of birds that, to my untrained ear, look and sound so similar, I’d love to continue my bird learning journey with you.
I recognised a Mistle Thrush from song only yesterday, then spotted it at the top of a tall tree as always. The Blackbird always ends his phrases with a little mutter, but the MT only rarely does this and never consistently. To me, MT song is a cross between Blackbird and Song Thrush, as it sometimes includes a short repeated phrase (yesterday's bird did), but (again) never as consistently as ST.
Wow, I'm so glad I've found this channel. The intro is really swish. I'm not sure I'll be able to tell the difference easily but I'll keep an ear out.
I'm crap at these kinda calls but am learning from this the pause business. Mistle Thrush call sounds like Missiles and i love the smell of napalm on a dawn chorus 😉

The Blackbird song consists of rising notes that end in a few scratchy sounds. The Mistle Thrush song doesn't rise. I think that's what makes it sound more grumpy.

I think of mistle thrush song as a cooler song than a blackbird, like a ribbon in gentle water

If you know a blackbird (most people do) than you also know when it’s not a blackbird . And a Song Thrush loud repetitive song is also quite unmistakable. So if it isn’t either it must be a Mistle Thrush, is my logic. Heard one today.
I'm really enjoying these, Lucy, just as I enjoy your tweets etc I'm no expert on these things but I wonder if your videos would benefit from a different microphone set up as your voice is coming across a bit muffled and 'boomy' and therefore not as clear as it might be.
I think of the Mistle thrush as the most boring and least imaginative of the 3, the song is short and pretty much the same every time.
