    Great vid. I used a different bait and it worked wonders. I put my MIL's used drawers in there and it worked like a charm. I ran the drawers thru a mulcher then I hired a hazmat crew to stuff the container with shredded drawers. Flies from 3 towns over was found in the container. Filled up after a single overnight hanging.
    Sidenote to whoever reads this... I don't know why but when I checked the trap the next day a line of men (a crackhead, wino, 2 johns and a preacher) stood right next to the gallon container. Can u believe that? Strange power in that trap there.

    The best ingredients I have found to attract flies are old bread, oats, or anything made with flour and syrup, corn syrup, anything sugary and sweet made with real sugar. That same day you have flies in your trap. I made a few and this is about the 4th or 5th time I've had to replace my traps I've caught hundreds of them with this reciepie.

    The commercial kit that ‘s nearly identical ( packet of stinking bait powder) costs about $22. It worked great last year but of course it was discarded. You design is clever and will no doubt work equally well…… for “free”! Thsnks

    one dog poop... 1 handfull of cat food or dog food....and enough water to cover...cut a x slit in center of cap....and push cap inward until there is enough room for a fly to get through.. once they touch the starch on the dog or cat food... they are too heavy to fly.... works best with metal lids for plastic still works... just made one.... one hour ago have at least 30 flies.... if you don't live in a tropical area you wouldn't understand.....

      So the flies can get inside. 💁🏾

  • @Erklzanderz
    @Erklzanderz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Instead of using a bottle top, just cut a small X or two and press it slightly inward with your pinkie. The flies can get in, but cannot get out that way. With the bottle top it is too large of an opening, so many flies will still be able to get out. You will have much better results this way.....Good luck.

      ***** I think the idea,is to when a fly flies in the hole and flies up to the top,it tires out and eventually falls in the water and drowns.There is a similar trap for mice..Type in homemade mouse trap.

    Why add a hole in the side when you can just leave the original top off and lay it on it's side. You should add about three drops of dish soap to break the surface tension of the water. When finished with it put the top on and toss it.

    • @billyq12001
      @billyq12001  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I explained this within the video. Flies enter from the side and want to leave via the top.

    • @2handsfull
      @2handsfull 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone should tell all these people making videos of them fly traps with plastic bottles sugar, water and yeast with the top put in up-side down they're doing it all wrong. I never knew that fly's was so smart, and these people so dumb in knowing nothing about how to catch them. Even myself didn't know a fly goes in the front door and looks for a back door! I feel so stupid! Thank you for sharing your intelligence with me!

    • @bunberrier

      William Quinn My nose is at 6 feet so IDK if that would work for me. I was thinking of years ago, I had to kill a swarm of bees lodged in my house siding. Let a shop vac run for 3 days and nights where they were emerging to suck them all up. I dumped the bees in a pile in the backyard and the smell was brutal. So bad. Also as a kid my parents had beetle traps around their garden. So Im well aware that lots of dead insects together are just as bad as a dead animal in terms of stench. Glad it works out for you.
