I was having a serious infestation in my back yard and needed a quick and effective method to drive the flies away for good. After a few days they are no more! Give this a try but make sure you keep the trap away from where you hang out... they stink! 👌

You don't really need rotten shrimp to achieve this, flies are also attracted to vinegar specifically apple cider vinegar, it makes them think something is rotting. It works especially well with fruitflies too!
so instead of shrimp, will vinegar work??

The thing with traps like these is the smell draws more flys than there originally would have been and you end up having more of a fly problem in the end.

For those wondering, simply putting raw meat and water in the trap works well also. I use a raw chicken wing and some liver.
And here I am running around spraying flies with window cleaner.

1:14 an even easier way is to cut the top of the bottle off and invert it into the remaining bottle half, use some tape it if isn't right enough and done! Re-usable fly trap, just remove the tape (if used) empty the bottle, reset the content and put on the inverted top again.
I only have one single annoying little shit flying around in my room, who waits exactly until I lay down to sleep before it shows itself, I'm currently considering whether or not this method would be overkill...
@Frog Face You'd think they do, but since when has that ever worked?
Usually, while they somehow manage to get in through the tiniest gab that was open for just half a second when you want to get them back out you can have 2 or 3 windows open all they way, they will refuse to leave through it.
They will of course land on the windows trying to get out if they are closed but the second you open it they will always manage to hit the pain of glass instead of the open window or just crawl along the wall around the window but never going through.
Okay rant and mental breakdown over (can you tell that I'm annoyed by those little sh*ts? XD).

I once caught a roach had it go into a bottle while holding the bottle and something else to force the roach to move into it then closed the bottle up with bottle cap then played with my cat, me and my cat messed with the roach trapped in bottle. my cat slapped the crap out of the bottle terrorizing the trapped roach lol.

A Fly Bothered me
My parents once had a similar trap under the house. Forgot about it for a while and when they went to check on it it was filled to the brim with carcasses with a layer of maggots growing on the bottom. Literally hundreds of flys in this 500ml bottle
Apple cider vinegar with a few drops of Dawn dish soap. Softens the exoskeleton, which kills them.
I had a fly problem.... now I have a stinky rotten meat problem... WOW, great life hack :s
I bought an electric bug zapper for a couple bucks at Harbor Freight. Used tape to hold on the zap button. Placed it over a bowl of chicken scraps on the back porch. It was so full of hundreds of dead flies it was smoking.

I hate flies. I remember one landed on a dirty dish in my dishwasher. I put in the soap and slowly closed the door on the max setting and the hottest setting.
Wish I was a fly on the wall to see his plite in a whirling dervish of boiling water and dishwasher soap.
There has been one fly in my kitchen for days and it won’t let me eat in peace. This thing actually worked, but I forgot that you can’t shake it.

I have had all types of flies. I have had absolute Hercules type flies that are massive but slow. Easy to kill, for they are dumb. But right now, I’m dealing with the most cunning, quiet, small, and fast fly in my room. It’s super sensitive to movement and hides under my bed and around my room in hidden places. Still trying to catch him!

My Dollar Store fly traps look like flower stickers and are sticky on both sides. They stick to my window. They haven't caught a single fly. I'm pretty sure somebody repackaged kids' stickers as fly traps. I went to a different store, tried a different brand of window fly traps and those work great.

use the same project but instead of the raw meat mixture make a mixture of water, sugar and yeast, the reaction between yeast and sugar will create carbon dioxide that will attract the mosquito inside the bottle :3
We had one of those things but made out of glass and filled with syrup only for the waps. One day there was a huge fucking wasp eating all the other dead wasps it was disgusting

step 2: Vigorously spray other people. The sweet scent of peach juice will attract mosquitoes to them and away from you.

I agree, but it is not nice to have flies around when you are having a BBQ in your garden.
You can also cut the bottle just below the neck (a third of the bottle), fill half of what's left of the bottle, then put the neck part in upside down to act as a funnel. No ziplock bag needed

If you need an inside version, try punching small holes in the lids of old salsa jars. Flies seem to love tomatoes. For fruit flies, put a blob of ketchup in a bowl, tightly cover it with plastic wrap, and poke a few holes with a toothpick.
