I'm an Excavation & Utility contractor and have no formal survey training. While I do have a head for math, Rami makes this appear to be so simple to understand. While I have been using a Total station to do layout, I'm jumping in with GNSS !
Hello Tamimi. Excellent content. I'm so close to be a surveyor in Peru. And you channel is perfect, because I learn about my field and also I get closer to be a bilingual. Please, continue with the awesome content.
Pretty good video. I'm impressed that you actually called the measurement method correctly. Most people get that wrong. You were pretty much on the mark except for the control segment. You sort of hit on it when you talked about the ephemeris, but the reference station is not part of the control segment, it is part of the user segment. The control segment are the distributed tracking stations, central command location (and backup location) and all the similar parts of the system that control the satellites and messages from the ground. It computes and uploads the ephemerides, for instance, to the satellites. Newer (Block IIF maybe?) satellites can measure their own position, now, by the way.
If I know where the corners of my property is, as I have found the iron stakes and red flags, how do I find the actual lines when they are 1600 feet apart over hills in the woods
I might havecommented on two posts in 15 yrs on youtube so take this as an honor lol. I work in GNSS Machine Control and Site survey and I love your videos. Make your next video on RTK technology and I will use it in my classrooms like I would share this one!
GNSS lesson over lofi beats = 👁️👄👁️ Edit: Seriously though, this is an excellent distillation of what I found to be a rabbit hole of information when I was first learning this stuff. Subbed.
Thank you for this video! I have two questions: How can I check if I have a "reference frame" close to me? And what is the max allowed distance in order to use it?
Sir, I want to buy a GPS receiver, I have two preferences as my budget is constrained, either Comnav N3 or ChcNav i83. I would appreciate it if you could suggest which one is better out of these two.
Please, make a video about multiple traverses in same project and how to adjust them in Civil 3D. There is no tutorial like this in entire TH-cam, mainly when you have like 2 or 3 days of different traverses and how to make them to interact and process them to get the whole drawing. Thnks!
Thanks for your videos. Can one purchase a receiver that can produce GPS measurements to the nearest inch? It would be extremely helpful if 2-4 GPS readings were commonly integrated into property surveys (at various extents) to better address accurate positioning of property corners in GIS applications. In areas without any clear aerial points of reference, I'd be happy if it were accurate to 1 foot. If only orthophotography (along with multiple GPS readings) were also commonly integrated into surveys.
We only use javad gnss. And surveyors measure in tenths not inchs just fyi. Our equipment is around 30,000$ gets down to the thousandths of a tenth .000
Hello that was a great work done. Please can you work on converting the coordinates into longitude and latitude and plotting them on Google earth. Thanks
Hello good video but there is a small inacuracy in your statement. 3 satelites is not enough not because it is not accurate enough. But because to solve the position of your receiver, you need to solve 4 free parameters. Then yoo you need at least 4 satelites (4 measurements). With 3 satelites you cannot get a position. I guess you know what are the 4 parameters. X, Y, Z and ... the clock shift between the satellites and your receiver.
You are correct, the “solution” you get with the third satellite isn’t enough. I guess I should clarify that not accurate means not enough parameters solved to have a practical solution. We use three satellites for mathematical testing.
Today l was trying to understand the difference between two methods while l was working at office.( l am a civil engineer) Now after two hours came home and watched your video about the same topic .Such a coincidence or my brainwaves sent signals to the your satallite .
I don't know a thing about surveying, but I think that it is fascinating what surveyors do! I look forward to learning from your channel, Rami.
" _Imagine_ the earth is a sphere."
Rami confirms his position on a flat vs spherical earth 😂
BEST COMMENT EVER!!!! 😂
thats really a helpful video sir for understanding at a basic level
The GNSS explanation was very good. Take a good look at the full video. Take care. See you often. ^^
My profession has absolutely nothing to do with this, but I find your video's really fascinating.

I am honored, next two videos will be about RTK using base/rover and NTRIP!
Is this good product?
This is so informative. Thanks so much for explaining this!

بارك الله فيك يا اخي
Finally, an internet explanation which is useful/ THANKS
May you post how to establish static position using gnss
Thank you Mr. Rami. Please add another videos showing how to setup GNSS receiver, data collection and data processing.
Hello Rami. I have some surveying equipment that I would like to have tested. Do you have any suggestions on how and where I can get this done ?
@rami
Rami ! you are doing great.
You have a gift for explaining my friend!
Are you going to discuss LiDAR at some point? Maybe you have already? Great videos!
Thank you for this video!
I have two questions:
How can I check if I have a "reference frame" close to me? And what is the max allowed distance in order to use it?
ask your survey office in your country, most times distances vary from 5km to about 80km
Thank you fro the video it really helped me understand more about trilaterlation.
I love your videos, could you please have more videos on this subject
Of course, be sure to turn on the bell icon so you are notified when they come out!
Hello sir,
Is it possible to capture offset locations using a Bluetooth enabled rangefinder like a trupulse 200x and reach rs.
What is the name/brand of that GNSS unit?
Hi Keith, it's Reach RS+ :) You can find more info here: emlid.com/reachrs/
Thx for the simplification !
رائع انت بشرحك وتبسيطك للمفاهيم
Great videos. Greetings from Chile.
It would be great if I can get your contact so that you can help me more on specific area on gnss.
I am in Somalia, and to learn more on this. Thanks.
hopefully u can make a video on how to set up the rover n base
Yes of course. This is a fundamental skill.
Wonderfully explained! Thank you!
Can gnss measures elevation of subjects ?
Great Dr Rami 🌹🌹

i’ve been waiting for this!!!!
I wish that you do a video about how to be a professional surveyor
Do you have many job openings in this profession in the United States? I'm Brazilian and I'm trained in this area.
Thanks a lot for this video man, you just saved me my Satellite Surveying Course

That is a fantastic video idea. I will definitely look into doing this.
@@RamiTamimi You're fantastic man! Your videos are pure gold!
Excelente video!!!
What can affect the accuracy of a drone's GPS? What errors can occur with a drone's GPS?
Very well done!
Nautix X6 pro vs IPhone 13 pro
Which is useful in surveying. More accurately
Hello sir. I'm from Cameroon and I'm new in using a GNSS
I seriously need your help
The GNSS device I use is WangGan
If you can use a GNSS rover, why bother with the laser stick thing?

Hello that was a great work done. Please can you work on converting the coordinates into longitude and latitude and plotting them on Google earth. Thanks
Rami try to share your journey on becoming a PhD student at the Ohio State University after your masters at Wayne State University
Thanks!!
But how does this work if the earth is flat?
There is a satellite for India (INSAT). Which is a part of GNSS.
