Are you addicted to sugar? Do you know that SUGAR hides behind 60 different names?! Watch this video. If you say YES to 4 out of 5, you might just be addicted to sugar. p/s Tips on How to Break Up with SUGAR will be up next week. =)
Joanna Soh Official I'm 70 kg and I wanna lose my weight.. please help me to get fit.. im really confused of so many workouts.. which workouts in a day..
The Buchanan Family try minimising the amount of sugar you intake slowly instead of suddenly cutting it off. And eat more fruits. Coz fruits are full of natural sugars and if u eat that you won't feel like having any additional sugar.
Not so much for me, just for everyone watching :) I'm coming away from processed foods and into a more whole food diet so it's not so much an issue for me.
alex 's try minimising the amount of sugar you intake slowly instead of suddenly cutting it off. And eat more fruits. Coz fruits are full of natural sugars and if u eat that you won't feel like having any additional sugar.
I was definitely a sugar addict while I was still in university. I would drink a 20oz bottle of Coke or Pepsi on a daily basis and I would binge on sweets and pastries. I would also drink my iced coffee with 3 tbsp of sugar and eat Danish pastries for breakfast. It was only after deciding to talk to a nutritionist at my school that I started minimizing my sugar intake. It's been a little over a year since I started, but I've made a lot of progress since. Instead of cutting sugary things out completely, I minimized my intake and switched to better options. For example, instead of drinking Coke or Pepsi I switched to flavored seltzer water (I dranked soda more out of the fizziness rather than the taste); instead of drinking fruit juices, I switched to water; I also decreased how much sugar I'd add to my coffee or tea (basically I went from adding 3 spoons to 2, and then 1). Eventually I got used to the taste of coffee/tea enough that I no longer needed to add sugar to it. It's not to say that I don't eat (or binge on) sweets every once in a while, rather that I've mostly learned to minimize how much I'd eat them on a daily basis. It's really all about balance. It also helps reading labels and serving size because once you do start reading them you start to find sugar in things that you would least expect it (like tomato sauce and ketchup) and find it in quantities that are way too high (anything with 20g of sugar or more for 1 serving is too high imo). It takes time, but it's definitely possible. :)
lightningxsparks I've been doing the same and feel super amazing. It's not about completely starving yourself, it's about keeping balance and knowing the limits
Thanks so much for sharing your own personal experience and tips. It's so true that it's about balance and also being aware. I happy to hear that you're now able to be in control of your sugar intake but at the same time, still know how to treat yourself occasionally. =)
It's 5/5. It is currently my biggest problem. I gain weight because of my addiction. And now Im trying to go back again to a healthy lifestyle which is not easy especially if your family loves sweets. Thank you for this video, joanna! I only realize that Im addicted to sugar when I watch this video. It's a great help to me and Im now aware of my problem.
Very helpful video.. I never realised that most of the package food contain sugar and keep on eating cause it's so yummy. But after watching this video I will double check whether it contains free sugar
Thank you so much for this video ! As I already knew, I have a big addiction to sugar... I try to eat fruits instead of pastries/biscuits/chocolates, but I have such cravings for pasta these days... -_-
Just as a friendly advice. To get rid of the terrible echo try to film in a small room if you can. I find it very distracting but it's simple solution to fix it.
Great video. I think sugar is a big problem nowadays... The only thing I miss is the difference between "fructose" and "glucose". Glucose is less of a problem - your body can use it in every cell and burn it to release the energy. Fructose on the other hand can only be metabolized in the liver - and results in fat which is stored in the liver. This may lead to a fatty liver and is the bigger problem... Nevertheless - less sugar in general is a good thing.
I just had shemai (a type of dessert which has lots of sugar). We usually have it for Eid, but mom made it with so much love ❤️😜 How could I ignore it. Thank you for another great video, lots of love from Canada!
Sugar addiction = asking for type 2 diabetes... Thank you for this information joanna!!! I am prediabetic, yes, and controlling sugar intake is hard to those whose diet revolves around carbs (like what she said, foos with sugar does not have to be sweet) and these signs will help me to evaluate myself if I have gone the wrong path again... thank you so much
I would say I crave a lot of salty over sweet. And I love me my fries, pasta and bread. So far I've succeeded in adding more orange foods.. Mostly carrots
I was watching this video crying while eating cookies and an empty packet of chocolate milkshake sitting in front of me. God, i really, really need to do something.
I quit soda four months ago and im doing really well even the thought of it makes me want to puke. Although I cant get over chocolate cakes and other sugary foods. Im trying SO HARD but I just can't. I can't but that doesn't mean I'll give up thanks for the info!
Thank you Joanna for the video. I have just begun my weight loss journey and all your videos are so helpful. Hopefully I'll get fitter by end of the year.
Hi Joanna I saw your video of fermented foods please make review video of Indian mango pickle, lemon pickle.is that good for weight loss? because I love pickles.
Hello Joanna, what about stevia? Is it a "good" alternative to sugar? The label says it's 0 cals however full of "healthy" alcohols? Can I use stevia without any regrets? I hope you can help :)
Ugh I have all 5. :( I love your videos, they have inspired me to change my way of eating and exercise. Thank you for clarifying the difference in sugars.
I was a sugar addict but just recently cut down all sources of additional sugar and eat only natural sugar in fruits and replaced white sugar in tea/milk with honey and now only a small bar of chocolate or a scoop of icecream or a little slice of cake once a week on my cheat day and honestly I've never felt better. I'm not as lazy and tired as before. My skin too has been very clear and I actually lost some weight because of it.
All the symptoms hold true for me! I tried stopping sugar intake and I had such bad fatigue I was cold and couldn’t get up from the bed. Please give tips how to overcome withdrawal symptoms
It's a great video! But unfortunately , I have a very low blood pressure. And no medicine helps me with this condition but a cup of black tea with a teaspoon of sugar a day :(
Hi Joanna, i have seen all your videos on smoothies and juices, plz plz can you do a video on SMOOTHIE BOWLS with low calorie and low sugar contents plz. Many thanks
I might still be addicted to sugar in some way, but I was able to reduce my sugar intake significantly after giving up soft drinks. I also try to "socialize" when it comes to sweets such as cakes. If I bake a cake and have it at home I can eat as much as I want basically, But if I take it with me to work my colleagues can have a piece as well and I don't have to worry about it getting bad lol
Very helpful video as always! I'm trying to avoid sugary foods like cakes, pastry, cupcakes, pudding etc. except 2 tsp sugar in my tea and coffee. Everyday I eat banana, apple, pineapple, pomegrante, melon for sugar craving and to get more fiber. @Joanna Soh Official, could you please tell me is it ok to have total 2 tsp of sugar in a day is too much?
Excellent! In the USA, if the "sugar" is a tiny serving depending on the serving size, the manufacturer can hide the sugar from the nutrition label that way also! It is very sneaky! Not sure if other country do this ...You think you are eat healthy but you are not! 🤔🤔🤔
Hi joanna, i want to know if common girls can have strong chiseled abs like super firness models. i want to know when carbs should be cut..for how long the abs last n all..plz explain.
OH DEAR LORD! I'm addicted to sugar! I do have a problem and I don't know how to break away from it. I've been excercise everyday and I haven't been gaining weight but since I snack on chocolate bars a lot I'm not losing any. Ahhhhh! What am I going to do?! I need tips on how to break away from it.
I absolutely appreciate this video, but the comment about the fruit not spiking blood sugar is entirely false. I am a reactive hypoglycemic, so I suffer from fluctuating sugars. Things like sodas, yes they absolutely will spike sugars like crazy, but things like most fruits, such as apples, grapes, and oranges have a very high glycemic index, which means they will absolutely spike blood sugar.l, though definitely not to the level of manufactured sugars. Other than that, thank you for the wonderful video. :)
Well, I can tell ya: I started changing my diet two weeks ago, and the first two days went by. On the third day, I felt absolutely - excuse me - shit. I have had the worst headaches and my body was screaming for something sweet. I have never really understood how insanely addicted I was, and I admit that this might have been the hardest week I have ever had, but I got through it and feel kinda okay now. I dont crave it as much anymore and feel really satisfied. I lost 4KG already.
Thank U Very Much Ms.Joanna, now i know about sugar fact in many kind of food, It can be very Dangerous if we consume too many sugar. and like you said that sometimes my body want to eat salty food too for balancing sugar level. Awesome & Great Healthy Information. Have a Nice Day ^_^
It's so true about the salty food isnt it. One moment, the craving is towards sugar, next it's salty foods and it's just a cycle that keeps going on and on. =(
Hello! I'm a big fan of your work and I think I follow you for almost 3 years? Congrats on sharing so many helpful advices and tips. I wanted to contact you and saw the notification to send the message in here, so here it goes. I'm 1,68 m and my weight it's 58 kg now. I've lost 10 kg in 1 year. I'm not dieting, but I do lose at least 0,5 or 1 kg per month. Even without doing much of exercises. If I keep losing weight, I'm not going to be healthy. However, I still have a lot of body fat. So I wanted your advice. Can can I do? Can you guide me do any video of your that talks about this topic? I need to keep the weight and built muscles, probably. I hope you can read this message and have time to respond. Thank you so much!
I do realise I'm addicted to sugar, but what scares me is that I don't really feel guilty. But my condition is worsening. There's type 2 diabetes in my family. I don't know how to quit. Especially since my budget is horribly tight here in France... Any tips on how I can suppress these needs? Or at least limit it? Desperate person here.

yes! A LOT of foods, including HEALTH foods contain high amounts of sugar. Do read the food labels. =)
Thank you so much for this video ! As I already knew, I have a big addiction to sugar... I try to eat fruits instead of pastries/biscuits/chocolates, but I have such cravings for pasta these days... -_-
