As Yankees fans, we should just be happy this didn't play out until January. We should all just move on and look forward to the moves Cashman makes and how excited we should be about '25!
Who gives a fuck... Judge cares, yet Soto has the ring and he got that ring with a minnow while Judge's Yankees had their first WS apperance with him only after Soto arrived. Your job as a player is to do whatever you can to lead to a ring. Soto has done more in that area than Judge has and he did it without 'caring'.
He was talking about how Cohen goes over the top to outbid teams, and used the art, which he famously over pays for, as an analogy. And an apt one at that.
I've been saying this all along, do not go for Alonso. He's not a good defender, maybe average at best. He's not athletic enough and he's another high K rate guy. He's also gonna want at least 6-7 years. Sign Walker to a 2 year contract and then move Judge to first.
I wouldn't classify it as "responded." They just moved on. It's the media and the fanbase that's making this into a bigger deal than it really is. It happens to every team, every year.
Soto is a Met. There’s no purpose of Yankee fans talking about him anymore. The only time he matters is when the Mets are playing the Yankees. Yankee fans should react the same way they would if he picked the Braves.
He never even suggested that MLB shouldn't let owners in. He just stated the fact that the owners let him in,and this is what happens. And this is different than what the Yankees did. It is another level entirely. Without Cohen, the bidding war gets to 500 million, it doesn't get over 750. While the Yankees were out bidding teams by 10-20 million, and not driving prices up at nearly the same rate as Cohen. But Kay didn't say this was wrong for MLB to allow. Basically he just said the teams let in their worst nightmare and that wasn't smart.
Love seeing all the yankee fans here that were ALL in to get Soto and now that he chose not to come back they're saying the yanks are better off. So funny.
And yet, it actually does for many teams. Including the Yankees when they won in 2009. And my reply to you was pointing out that the Yankees obviously are better at developing players than you give them credit for. Because the developed the reigning MVP the ROY winner and 2nd runner up to ROY from the last season. Also, Clarke Schmidt pitched terrific, he's homegrown. Volpe is a gold glove winner that took huge strides offensively from his rookie year, and was homegrown. And the pen has been loaded with homegrown guys for years and has been our most consistent strength. Not to mention the fact the Yankees have traded many prospects over the years for very good players. If their system was as bad as people say pretend, nobody would ever be trading for any of their prospects.
@snerdterguson 2009 was 15 years ago. That's not good enough when you are among the highest payrolls every year. To justify that type of expenditure you would have to make an appearance at the World Series every other year and win 1 on occasion.

Soto doesn't care about fanbase all he cared about was his pocket. Yankees shouldn't even think about Soto ever again

Is a business you supposed to care about the money specifically when you already have a ring😂😂
Good show. Boys on 🔥!
It was! Very insightfull.
Come on John (caller), referring to Lou Gehrig as a complimentary player is wild.
Michael loves bringing up Steve's art spending 😂

Spot-on with regards to Pete Alonso. He's NOT the right one for the Yankees!
I've been saying this all along, do not go for Alonso. He's not a good defender, maybe average at best. He's not athletic enough and he's another high K rate guy. He's also gonna want at least 6-7 years. Sign Walker to a 2 year contract and then move Judge to first.
Forget about Alonso. Not great defensively and 29 already. He’ll probably want 7 years. Doesn’t make sense.
After losing Juan Soto to the Mets, the Yankees responded by signing Max Fried from the Braves.
I wouldn't classify it as "responded." They just moved on. It's the media and the fanbase that's making this into a bigger deal than it really is. It happens to every team, every year.
Hall of Fame COPE‼️😂
a lifetime 285 hitter, not worth it
you're out of your mind he's much more than a 285 hitter you want to compare his lifetime playoffs stats to judge ?
And TMKS is better off without Peter!!
Don is the man. Kay is reprehensible.

So MLB shouldnt let owners in that would actually spend some money into their team so that the Yankees can maintain their dominance, 😂okay Michael Kay

We dont need any met

Cashman has to improve player development. Buying the best free agents available does not produce championships anymore.
They had 2 of the top 3 in ROY and the MVP, and all of them were homegrown.
@snerdterguson Investing in young players pays off. Free Agents? Not so much.
And yet, it actually does for many teams. Including the Yankees when they won in 2009.
