I think this is a bad take and a classic old timer take. This has nothing to do with “being a real Yankee fan” as you put it Micheal, this is about the generational gap in rivalries. I grew up in a time where the Red Sox rivalry was hotter than ever and then when they disappeared it was the Astros. I despise the Astros with every fiber of my being but frankly, I’m indifferent towards the Mets and royals (including the royals because of the rivalry). I cheered for the Yankees and i am from Corona Queens 4 blocks away from Citi 2015 still hurts can't cheer for KC. If Mets dont go all the way i am still cheering for NY.

Kay sounds so bitter & angry. Is it really that serious? I’ve been a Yankee fan my entire life. I was in 4th grade when the Mets won the ‘86 World Series and my teacher made me stand in the classroom closet as punishment because I put my head down on my desk & refused to watch the ticker tape parade. I hated the Mets for years. But then I grew up and matured. Ironically, I have now been married to a Mets fan for 15 years. I don’t cheer for the Mets but I’m not mad if they win as long as it’s not against my Yankees. They’re in a whole other league. Who cares if they win as long as it’s not against the Yankees. If they both make it to the WS I’m cheering hard for the yanks to win. I’ll be pissed if they lose to the Mets or anyone else. If they got knocked out in the ALCS & the Mets make it all the way, I’m not rooting for Cleveland to win the WS. If my team is out of it, I’m going to pull for NY over anyone else. It’s not that serious.

I don't root for the Mets but i don't think saying you want to see a subway world series is as stupid as these guys make it seem. You're going to have to play someone if the yanks advance to the world series. For me, think either opponent would make a fun world series. High paid players will not always produce like they’re expected too. Alex Rodriguez the highest paid player only won one championship. In 2009 with the NY Yankees, a team with a roster of high paid players too.
