      If you are a Mets fan I hope next season and beyond is WS title or bust.. That is always the Yankee standard as people rip Judge when we don't win a WS.. Wins the MVP but dropped a ball in the WS and that is the focus.. Okay so if Soto is MVP level next year and you fall short he better get hammered for it.. The days for Met fans feeling like winning a division title is a fun season is all over now.. Gone..

    Big brothers don't get swept 0-4 in season series. 0-2 at home. The Mets out scored the Yankees 34-14 over 4 games. They were outscored 15-5 in their own home. Maybe Soto saw that and decided that's where he wanted to play. Or he's awesome the team with the best record in baseball from June on and liked that. And how many of those Yankees championships were before the Mets were even a team? Or since Soto was born? I can remember in 1998, in my late 20s, walking past a newsstand in Brooklyn with a buddy of mine who is a die hard Yankees fan, and him just looking at every publication and getting pissed saying "I hate this city.! For years, all the papers ever talk about is the Mets! They never talk about the f-ing Yankees!" I just stared at him and said I couldn't believe he was complaining. That was my whole life from birth through college.

    • @frozenharold
      @frozenharold 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @easttremont718 So, the Yankees must have only one move in the last 24 years. They made the move of offering over 3/4 of a billion dollars for that same player after paying him $31 million last season and trading 5 players for him. Shrewd. The only reason the Yankees went to the WS last year and the Mets didn't, was they didn't have to play the Dodgers to get there. At least the Mets took them to 6 games, and that was without Soto.

    2) Regarding the Mets vs. Yanks thing. (btw, i'm a lifelong Yanks fan), I think Stearns hit the nail on the head when he said in the press conference that aside for his accolades, Soto's love for the game and fun for the game is what made his a fit for the Mets. This is the Yankees problem for the past many years. It's not a fun organization nor environment. and that is a lose lose recipe for everything baseball. The Yankees culture relies on its past too heavily and doesn't focus on what's needed in 2025.

      @DeqauriusWadsworth Yes. I was trying to go easy on them and just have them repeat what the Yankees did in the 90s. But to surpass the Yankees, the Mets would need to win 7 WS, beating the Yankees in at least 1, and appear in another 7. They would then have 1 more WS win than the Yankees and tie them in pennants since coming into existence in '62. So we're talking at least 14 years. Of course, the Yankees would need to not even come close to the WS in that span.

That's your gauge to go by. Soto is only one of many high roller players who opted to go to or stay in Queens instead of the Bronx. Granderson, Piazza, Beltran, Mike Hampton, Santana, Cliff Floyd, Delgado, Cespedas to name a few with big contracts. They are on even par today but the history of the Yankees is storied.

Because players had off season jobs because playing baseball didn't pay a living wage for like 99% of the league. It has nothing to do with whether or not they were good players.

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @henrycalde1991 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That argument can be said to the other 28 teams. It counts sure but its stale AF. Even if the Mets or any other team wins like 5x titles in the next 6 yrs, followed by several more titles, etc no team can match the 27 titles.

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well if you're playing a game, and one team gets a humongous lead. Lets say it is a baseball.game and the score is 27-2. Would you say the win wouldn't count because the team with 27 got such a huge lead it was essentially impossible to overcome?
      Even if you said to just count the last 30 years. That's 8 pennants and 5 titles for the Yankees, with 2 pennants and 0 rings for the Mets. The only way the Mets are close is if you just arbitrarily say since 2015, which would have both teams tied with one pennant each.
      Also, there is a zero percent chance you would think the argument is stale if it were your team.with the 27 chips. You root for a loser franchise. So naturally, you need to dismiss the achievements of a winning franchise. Damn, you guys have won your division 6 times in your history. In every way, the Yankees franchise swamps the Mets. No matter what arguments you want to use.
      How about just since Cohen? Which team has more wins, playoff appearances, LCS appearances, playoff series wins, playoff game wins, Pennants?
      But don't worry, your Mets did lead one category. You lost more games than the Yankees since Cohen bought your team.
