That moment where both teams rushed onto the field and jumped around and emotions were surging beyond control...absolutely definitive of what makes rivalries (and college football in general) the greatest thing in all of sports.
Difference between UCLA and u$c: CLASS. Worry about all the cheating going on with the u$c football program before talking down to UCLA. Not only do u$c fans vandalize the UCLA campus on a regular basis, they STOLE the Victory Bell and "made it into a tradition." u$c fans, even if you beat us in football during certain years, just remember this: We beat you in academic rankings EVERY YEAR. (We also have more total collegiate sports national championships)
Karl Dorrell was a great UCLA coach who had some tough loses and horrible luck with injuries. You will always be a winner in my book. Loved you as a receiver and respected you as a coach. But this was a great victory. In my book probable one of the greatest UCLA football victories. Kept that pro team out of the national championship game. Can't ask for any more than that.
Dorrell was so unlucky, quarterbacks hurt. Loved him as a player and liked him as a coach. Injuries are a part of the game but in this one, Wow Cowan got up. Unbelievable.
Will never forget when that SC defender tried to PUNCH the ball out of the UCLA carrier’s hands. Lmfao. Such a great upset that thus allowed the SEC era of dominance to begin.
That game was basically the first nail in the dynasty. In 2007 and 2008 they were passed over to play in the BCS championship game by teams with the same record as them. Had USC made it to the BCS championship game that year, they would've been given more credit by voters and been to those games.
The worst part was Coach Dorrell was still scapegoated. He had the talent but didn't have any luck on his side. If the school gave him more support he may have had a better legacy than he has now.
This video may be "ancient" but this was a GLORIOUS day! I wonder which loss hurt more and which victory was sweeter- 2005 SC winning 66-19 or this game from 2006? We only won 12-9, but SC lost EVERYTHING! And now, for what it's worth, the NCAA has vacated the '06 game.....
Slightly inaccurate It 04 and 05 we lost both of those to em so technically those are now wins for us. We won 06 fair and square with hearts of blue n gold
Makaveli The Don I disagree on that. The 2003 season they were robbed of a chance to play for it while OU got to. 2004 season they earned it against that team they were robbed the previous year against. 2005 season was a loss to Texas...plain and simple. Should nothing. They could have, but didn't. As for the 2006 season, how? Even had they won this game, they would have had the same result with an undefeated Ohio State playing a 1 loss SEC team being Florida. They wouldn't have put a 1 loss USC which lost to Oregon State earlier in the year over Florida.
I am a huge usc fan and it just seems every year there is always one er 2 games that they lose that they shouldn't and its just so frustrating idk y that happens
Cockiness will do that to anyone that’s why we lost to Oregon last week. They came pumped and we didn’t show up that simple. I’m a diehard ucla, I can recognize my teams failures. USC has been very lucky to not have it as much. No offense but it’s really funny how teams act after winning yearly etc. happens to us in basketball occasionally but you don’t see it much in big time football teams. I dream of the day both schools go undefeated that’d be a classic showdown
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I didn't see the Pac-10 and SEC play each other in BCS Bowl Games. The Pac-10 does have a 10-7 edge on the SEC in the last 17 meetings between each other including 1-1 this season. And Cal defeated Tennessee in 2007.
In Chinese astrology, 2006 was the Year of the Dog. USC has never beaten UCLA in football in the Year of the Dog, although they managed a tie in 1958. We'll see if that changes in 2030.
and don't forget that some of the most celebrated athletes in America's history are Bruins, such as Jackie Robinson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to name just a couple...also, you seem to be a Lakers fan, correct? tell me one Trojan who's had any significant influence on the Lakers franchise... you can't, right? for that matter, you probably can't tell me one Trojan who's had any significant influence in the NBA in general...
Yeah but that's just one decade. Any other decades with that many names from UCLA? Probably not. UCLA has Troy Aikman to lean on, other than that, having Maurice Jones-Drew still in the league helps. USC has produced more this decade than UCLA ever has, and that doesn't help recruits that will greatly change the program choose to go there. Although, I do know Alterraun Verner from high school hopefully he'll be a top corner for next year's draft.
That game is haunting. Krazy Karl got a chance to keep his squad for another year. I'm glad SC restored order. 1:55, best highlight. Here's to another run in 08' Fight On!
be patient... this was a rebuilding year... Neuheisel will bring respectability back to UCLA Bruin football... give it another 2 to 3 years and Bruin football will be on the same level if not better than the Terry Donahue era... Neuheisel is a master recruiter and motivater who will take some of Carroll's top recruits, I promise... I predict, that in the next few years Neuheisel will build a top 5 program capable of competing on an annual basis for a national title...
You're right about one thing, Neuheisel will bring in a few recruits here and there that otherwise would've chosen USC, or elsewhere. However, a program like UCLA will absolutely never catch up to the Trojans in college football history. USC has 11 National Championships (2 this decade), 7 Heisman Trophy winners (3 coming in 4 years this decade), 7 straight conference championships, 7 straight BCS bowl games (winning 6 of 7), a multitude of NFL draft picks and Hall Of Famers.
look cerebral88 it makes UCLA's year to beat USC while the Trojans year in and year out compete for the National Titles! We'll see the Bruins come December in the Coliseum.
Spoken like the articulate trOJan you are! Way to represent the "University" that you probably don't even go to. Dogfight on! (I won't hold my breath waiting for you to understand that reference).
tell me something i don't know...yes, i think we all know the quality and historical significance of the Trojans football program...but as i've stated before, UCLA is historically better in football than USC is in basketball...the crosstown football rivalry between the Bruins and Trojans is one of the best in the nation... but over the decades, UCLA has sent their fare share of quality talent to the NFL...remember the Dallas Cowboys of the early 90's? the cowboys had three pro bowlers from UCLA.
but what you Trojans fail to understand is that when you try to downplay UCLA's football program, you're essentially undermining your successes as a program... think about it, doesn't it sound better to say that you have a quality rival, in UCLA? doesn't that make your accomplishments more significant? you need to respect your main rival, who has given you some significant challenges over the decades...
The last time UCLA won a National Title in Football was in '54 when Esienhower was in the White House. How can UCLA rule when you can't even win the Pac 10 Title?
One of the greatest days EVER!!! Haven't been that piggy drunk since that night. And yes, U$C, we WILL take the city of Los Angeles back. U---C---LlllllA....UCLA Fight Fight Fight!!!!!
"yo dog", Cowan got right up from that (illegal) hit--plus, the Bruins WON the game. Last time I checked, football was a TEAM sport, not one based on self-serving, meaningless highlights--that's how St. John Bosco does it...
Well lets be real here you really think the rankings would go in the PAC12 favor?? Look what schools are in the PAC-12 UCLA, USC, Oregon, Stanford, ASU, Arizona, for gods sake even UTAH is force to be recognized...in this league its hard to lose where the SEC you only have bama and LSU thats it thats the only reason they go to the BCS title why do you think during non-conference they never play pac 12 teams....oh btw i wouldn't call UCLA low level considering we're above SC in the rankings
Actually, the difference between USC and UCLA is that most of the top tier recruits chose USC, even after UCLA beat them three years in a row. Also, USC has the third best record in the PAC12 during their 5 years of sanctions. UCLA is 5th. So during 5 those 5 years when UCLA could have overtaken LA in terms of national relevance, the flopped. Few solid seasons but nowhere near national title contention. We will see what happens now that USC is at full strength with two Heisman candidates and multiple All-American's. Not to mention an offensive line that returned every single starter from a year ago. UCLA will run LA when they win a few national titles or Rose Bowls. Not like this is the first time they've beaten USC, but the reason football will remain USC's is because they've always been known as the pro team of Los Angeles. Too much tradition, dominance and history.
+Dontworry Boutit That's the thing, it's not in the past. You think this is the first time UCLA has had a little more success than USC? No. But UCLA fails to show any hardware for it. Now that the sanctions are gone, and USC's roster is filled with depth and 5 star talent, you will see who is the better football program. During USC's 5 year sanctions the Trojans have the better overall record and that goes to show that UCLA can't take the next step to be an Alabama or USC level program. Just because they've won 3 years in a row doesn't mean they are suddenly the better program. Not when USC was under heavy sanctions during that time in still won more games and gained far better recruiting. Right now, USC is a favorite to win the PAC12 and go to the playoff.
+Dontworry Boutit plus I mentioned that I'm talking about this year, not just tradition. To win 10 games and then 9 games when you only have 50 players on your roster is remarkable. UCLA barely managed to win 10 with a full roster and celebrated. A 10 win season for USC is disappointing - sanctions or not.
+Tigran Martirosyan and there's only been 4 PAC12 champiosnhip games btw, one of which USC would have been if they weren't on probation. UCLA has made it to one and lost to Stanford, and haven't won the conference since the 90's. Not living in the past, just stating the facts. and USC will definitely not lose to those guys this year, Too much talent, experience and now depth with an experience quarterback whose also a Heisman candidate. Brett Hundley's running ability was the primary reason USC has struggled against them. UCLA won't even get off the field defensively this year.
+Dontworry Boutit Now you're living in the past. 2012 was during the heart of the sanctions and the lack of depth showed. What you don't understand is that now with a full roster, there is no difference to USC this year than in 2008 when they were dominant. They have the best talent in the country all throughout their roster. There is no way they're going to lose to UCLA this year at home. They've been given a 76% chance to win that game by the FPI. They're the favorite to win the PAC12 and more and for a school that hasn't won the conference since the mid 90s, you guys sure talk an awful lot of shit. Last year they had the chance to take a big step as a program and flopped against a 7-5 Stanford team at HOME! It was a complete joke. They had your chance to become nationally relevant and contend during USC's sanction years and they failed. Doesn't mean they aren't good because I think Mora is a very good coach, but until you win something it doesn't mean a thing.
+Tigran Martirosyan And Mora is good, but couldn't get his team over the USC win and ready for Stanford. UCLA has a long way to go. 10-3 seasons are good but not great. USC went 10-2 in 2011 with half a roster.
Yea, but you're only proving everyone else's point more. Your whole conference is not even close to being as powerful as the SEC's. UCLA can't beat Notre Dame and you can't beat them. Stanford is a great program, right? Let's see, teams that could compare to the SEC: Oregon, USC, ASU, and Cal are the only four in my opinion that could play in the SEC. However, teams that could play in the Pac 10, LSU, Florida, UGA, Tennessee, USC, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas. All fight for top 25
but as I've stated before... historically, UCLA is by far more superior in football than USC is in basketball... at least in football it's a rivalry, were as in basketball, it's a fuckin joke how much more dominant UCLA is over USC... in addition, the UCLA BRUINS athletic department has the most NCAA national championships of all time in all sports combined, in the entire United States of America's history...
Lee Corso , Kirk Herbstreet we had another thing comin! Thank you, and that's all I gotta say!
Epic
Bruce Davis's comments at the end were epic!!!!
As a Gator fan, I tip my hat to the 2006 UCLA Bruins, if they didn't win, we would have never won the National Title
You're welcome
Even when florida had a conference championship?
Something about 13-9
That moment where both teams rushed onto the field and jumped around and emotions were surging beyond control...absolutely definitive of what makes rivalries (and college football in general) the greatest thing in all of sports.
Bruce Davis, epic response.
Savage
This never gets old
i remember that so clearly being there i was the best day of my life!!!!!!!!
Go Bruins!!!!

Been knowing Eric Mc' Neal & living across the street from him since I was 9 or 10yr old BIG Fan of a Fan Mercedes Lewis
Loved how Bruce Davis called out espn priceless.
I still get goosebumps watching this. Go Bruins!
Bruce Davis...AWESOME

Atleast karl won
UCLA has won 9 of the last 16, bring it on in 2007
Best birthday present ever!
And that ball hit the floor when he went down on the interception
Makaveli The Don Stop it, no it didnt.
@JimCowdrey i was there too.. the staduim had a freaking earthquake after that interception... i was here with an SC fan too.... AMAZING
WOOO. BABY i cant wait till UCLAS next season
Idk how we lost this
It should of been our 4th straight BCS title
From an Sc fan they did. USC underestimated a lot of teams during their run. Reason they lost.
Makaveli The Don I disagree on that. The 2003 season they were robbed of a chance to play for it while OU got to. 2004 season they earned it against that team they were robbed the previous year against. 2005 season was a loss to Texas...plain and simple. They wouldn't have put a 1 loss USC which lost to Oregon State earlier in the year over Florida.
In 2005 was a plain loss but we were up by 12 with 5 minutes left and USC started to celebrate on the sidelines already
All I know is USC would've finished the season number 2 plying osu and we don't know how the bcs would have went
+Makaveli The Don because the trojan condoms always choke when they're high in the rankings!
UCLA may have less wins in this rivalry but we get em when fusck has more riding on the line.
The Birth of Seven straight BCS Champions for the SEC.
I am a huge usc fan and it just seems every year there is always one er 2 games that they lose that they shouldn't and its just so frustrating idk y that happens

The game that changed college football
That tip changed football history, if SC scores they go on to the natty. Instead we've got 8 straight SEC schools winning it.
In Chinese astrology, 2006 was the Year of the Dog. USC has never beaten UCLA in football in the Year of the Dog, although they managed a tie in 1958. We'll see if that changes in 2030.
GO BRUINS!!
what a great day
pete carrolls face is priceless....i like how he bouced just before all those sanctions were brought up sneaky foo!
USC ranked #2 and got beat by the mighty Bruins!!! UCLA all day
and don't forget that some of the most celebrated athletes in America's history are Bruins, such as Jackie Robinson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, to name just a couple...also, you seem to be a Lakers fan, correct? tell me one Trojan who's had any significant influence on the Lakers franchise... you can't, right? for that matter, you probably can't tell me one Trojan who's had any significant influence in the NBA in general...
That hit on Cowan was Helmet to Helmet. That shoulda been Called. But ESPN got CALLED OUT! hahahahaha Yeah Bruce Davis!!
LOL!! Bruce Davis rules. Screw ESPN!!
I forgot ucla beat us until someone told me this today hahaha
Yeah but that's just one decade. Any other decades with that many names from UCLA? Probably not. UCLA has Troy Aikman to lean on, other than that, having Maurice Jones-Drew still in the league helps.

Hey Pete, why the long face?
you better watch your back, Carroll... cus Neuheisel and the Bruins are hot on your trail...things are going to even out here in L.A....

Well you know you can't spell TrOJans without OJ. And I'm confident Rey Maulaloser will be joining him soon.
@jmguy101 and Stanford's team GPA is higher than both USC and UCLA, and they're way better than both of them. Yeah, makes a lot of sense.
Spoken like the articulate trOJan you are! Way to represent the "University" that you probably don't even go to. Dogfight on! (I won't hold my breath waiting for you to understand that reference).

Thank U UCLA the National Championship Game goes to the SEC the Florida Gators by whipping Arkansas in the SEC Championship Game on CBS
DeAngelo Stevens whipping? It was ten points!
but what you Trojans fail to understand is that when you try to downplay UCLA's football program, you're essentially undermining your successes as a program... think about it, doesn't it sound better to say that you have a quality rival, in UCLA? doesn't that make your accomplishments more significant? you need to respect your main rival, who has given you some significant challenges over the decades...
It's funny how 90% of the people that talk shit/hate on UCLA or USC couldn't get into either university. Food for thought.
At 2:56, that guy is like "Fucccccckkkkk!!!"
The last time UCLA won a National Title in Football was in '54 when Esienhower was in the White House.
How can UCLA rule when you can't even win the Pac 10 Title?
and where is Ken Norton Jr. coaching now!?! lmao
dorrell never should have been hired in the first place. After we find a good replacement, it'll be UCLA back over SC! Go Bruins!
wow what alternate universe did you fall out of?
I really really lament the fact that Karl Dorrell is not your coach anymore...you now actually have someone with a clue
UCVLA ALL DAY BRUIN 4 LIFE lOOK FOR MJT AT UCLA
One of the greatest days EVER!!! Haven't been that piggy drunk since that night. And yes, U$C, we WILL take the city of Los Angeles back. U---C---LlllllA....UCLA Fight Fight Fight!!!!!
Gator fans thank you!!!
actually ucla shared the ncaa football title with Ohio State in 1954.
by the way warriorfootball check your spelling and grammar.
"yo dog", Cowan got right up from that (illegal) hit--plus, the Bruins WON the game. Last time I checked, football was a TEAM sport, not one based on self-serving, meaningless highlights--that's how St. John Bosco does it...
LMAO, you tell em Bruce!!! Go Bruins :)
Too bad UCLA cant do this every year. What ever happened to that UCLA coach.
no that was this year they lost to them!!!
AND NO HE WAS BEGINNING TO TURN THE CORNER...AND THEN HE SAW REY...THEN GOT LAYED OUT
@johnnyespinoza1 Nope. I'm calm and confident...
Where is Mr. Calvin Snoop Dog. When the battle of L.A. happen?!!-

What does basketball have to do with football???

50-0. nuff said
Lost to a 2-8 ucla team nuff said lmao
Hey, I'm a Michigan and I was happy to see usc get their ass kicked. Wasn't everyone?
UCLA gonna beat SC this year too!!! anyone agree?
hehehe john david booty at quarterback for SC. this was a LONG time ago
Who said I got rejected....
National Championship here we co-....oh....

Because he needs to justify a meaningless diploma at $C--makes "Daddy" feel better...
2:44 there's a guy on SC's sideline behind Pete the Cheat wearing a Yankees hat.
Jump on the bandwagon.
LOL nice
Not this year bitches!!! FIGHT ON!
