    Great advice here. I'm a '22 owner (i got it in '23) and i'm at 10k now. I change my fob battery yearly as just a every year thing and keep a few taped under the seat just in case. I put on the SE exhaust, HD sport bags, A1 pull back risers, Denali handguard/lic plate lights and highway pegs. The exhaust might have been the best upgrade, but i had my stock seat re-molded by Mean City cycles. Totally changed the ride for me. Owner is a Pan Am dude too. My next upgrades are new street tires (my tires are near smoked) and hopefully some bright headlights. So far havent had the fuel pump thing and only had codes thrown once but they cleared. The bike is on a tender 24/7 and thats probably my biggest bit of advice to bikes pre '24. Keep that sucker on a tender all the time. Thanks for the review and ride safe.

    On my second PAS a 2024 in Alpine Green.
    Traded my 22 because I was at 21,000 miles and 2 year threshhold on trade in value which isnt much to write home about.
    Only issue with the 22 was a noisy fuel pump replaced under warranty at 19,000 miles.
    6k on the 2024 no issues at all.
    I really love this bike.
    It is one the most comfortable fun bikes Ive ever ridden.
    Great sport tourer as well.
    I dont do dirt on it.
    I have a KLR 650 for that.
    The upgraded battery and harness made a world of difference in start up.
    Great to see you with 45k on yours with very few issues. I intend on putting 100k on this one.
    Much touring planned for the next couple of years.
    I am a new subscriber to your channel .
    I am always looking to see Pan Am owners experiences on this great motorcycle.
    Cheers and many more miles offun to you on your Pan Am.
    I will be watching.

    Very sagely advice! I traded in my 2020 road glide special for a pan am special in nov 2023 and am lovin’ every minute of it. I’ve had most of the issues that you mentioned and I have had to buy a trickle charger as the battery voltage drops enough to show up faults. These faults nearly all are because of low voltage, and charging for about an hour before leaving works. Apparently the battery isn’t man enough to hold enough voltage for 4-7 days without dropping, even though it is brand new. If you’re a daily rider it’s not a problem. I too purchased a smaller screen like yours which works really well, I also purchased a Klock Werks flare screen for the summer as I prefer to wear an open face helmet. I also purchased a saddlemen saddle to try and make the rear seat more comfortable for my wife, I also found it a little more comfortable than the stock seat (but I do have short legs/long body). Good advice well presented, keep up the good work.

    Great vid! Just ordered the V&H exhaust for mine, it's a '23 I bought leftover end of Jan '24. Love it, looking forward to the weather breaking so I can get back out riding it! You hit all the high notes, my dealer advised me upon buying it that if you're not going to be riding it for ~2 weeks to get it on a tender, a quirk of this particular bike. Stay safe!

    • @ADVTrev
      @ADVTrev  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Good on the dealer for giving you a heads up on keeping it on the charger.
      I believe after they revamped the 24 charging system, I don't think its as much of an issue anymore.
      I think you'll be super stoked on the V&H exhaust sound.

    Hi '22 Pan Am S owner here. FOB battery on the Pan Ams are smaller than most other H-D bikes. It is CR1632. It seems like the Key FOB battery drains quicker than most other H-D models with larger FOBs using the bigger CR2032. Also, keeping the FOB far away from the bike helps prevent the security system from draining the battery of both the bike and the FOB. I always keep the bike battery tendered when not riding.

  • @jonathanchapman3913
    @jonathanchapman3913 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    Nice video! One comment on your battery talk. I hated that it had that shitty CR1632. I had one die on me within a week and they are not readily available over here in Spain. I cut off the small bracket that holds the CR1632 battery and put in the larger CR2032 battery and now my FOB works way better.

    How long can you leave your PanAm before the battery dies? Left mine off a tinder without starting it for 4 days and it was too low to start the bike when I tried it.

    • @ADVTrev
      @ADVTrev  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I've left the bike off the tinder for a couple weeks without riding it. Definitely seems to have a harder time starting after sitting that long but has always started for me. I'm still on my stock battery, which I'm amazed it's lasted this long. I've heard that a lot of people are having issues with the stock batteries not keeping a charge for very long. Sometimes getting a fresh battery solves that problem.
      What year is your bike? In the early years of the bike, I know there was an issue with the wiring that contributed to a parasitic drain of the battery. I believe the dealers have a service bulletin to check the wiring to make sure it is installed correctly from the factory.

    Just my input. 2022 Pan Special. At 28k miles I had stalling issues. Took it in at 15 days past the two year had warranty. Ended up with a bad battery, stater, cat, clutch and right hand control. Stater and hand control were covered under extended warranty. The rest was not. $1800 and 45 days later I got my bike back. Seriously! This is my third and last Harley. Each one needed at least a clutch and stater @30k. Friends who are riding other brands are not dealing with this even at 40k.
