As someone in their mid 30's thank you I got out of Card collecting for a long time and your vids are helping me catch up. TCG Pocket got me wanting to rip real packs again
Wait, I'm fairly certain it was the Black & White series that introduced Gold cards. Not Sun & Moon. Oh, and the alternate art cards with an A were not actually officially part of the sets for the cards they feature a different piece of art for. Those were released as "promos" in box sets long after the official sets were released. That Lucario, for example, was released here 3 years after Furious Fists was out; closer to the release of Sun & Moon's sets.
Great video and in general I have to say I love your work. If I could change one thing about this one (and this is pretty minor), I would make it so the audio for your voiceover is centered between left and right instead of leaning left.
TCG Pocket's rarity symbols are also very intuitive, and I assume they use different symbols altogether because the sets are exclusive to the digital game and are not just real life sets. (Plus they are digital media as apposed to physical printed cardboard, so they are technically infinite). "standard" cards use a diamond shape, with one for common, two for uncommon, three for rare, and four for ultra rare. Meanwhile the "hidden" cards use a star shape, with their amounts working the same way as the "standard" cards in relation to their relative rarity to each other. The exception being that instead of four stars, a crown is used instead for the rarest cards. I don't know if the TCG Pocket cards have their own terminology regarding full-art cards, alternate EX artwork, or those cool zoom-in cards. Since Promo cards in the set are obtained through other means like the shops, they don't have traditional rarities because you don't pull them.
Imagine if the TCG added marks to the cards, like the marks you can get on pokemon in Sword & Shield/Scarlet & Violet, they change nothing and are totally random, it would be chaos
JP just has the better streamlined rarity system and glad they fully polished it out by Vstar Universe and made Special Art Vs and Vmaxes an actual rarity instead of being stuck with SR/HR like Full Arts and Rainbows. While smoothly transitioning it into SV.
Love the videos and the style 👍. Sidenote, I don't wanna express personal critique, but I feel like you're really not a bad looking guy, but you really need a good barber my friend. It will take you miles.
First
Though not released physically, the Pokémon TCG online featured red star promos. I am not sure if red star promos return in the new TCG Online.
Im surprised you dont have more subs! You're videos are so well presented and informative!
Thanks! I really appreciate you saying that!
Excellent video! Love your historical take on card collecting
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@sleevenocardbehindis surging sparks a good pokemon pack to come back to card collecting for or should I wait and “whale” a later pack?
@ surging sparks turned out to be a really nice set I think. But Prismatic Evolutions is right around the corner
0:16 thought you were about to sell me an ad about learning a new language or some other door-to-door stuff.
Actually yeah I did set that up like a sponsorship haha
Congrats on 10K my man cant wait to see what you do next!
Thank you!
@sleevenocardbehind No problem your one of my favorite youtubers and I just have to say sick base set master set
Nice work! What a great summary. Wish Pokémon would officially name all these rarities.
"you know common, uncommon, and rare already" hearing that when ive never noticed those symbols got a chuckle out of me (im new to TCG ok)

Yes
Im so glad they cleaned up the system the new one is so much better than when I was a kid and collected during black and white.
Just stumbled on your videos and love the stories, your narrative, editing, and thorough but patient breakdowns. Look forward to more videos!
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying them.
TH-cam algorithm recommend me a video 1 week ago and I fully watched everything you have put, love your content, keep the good work!
Thank you! That’s such a huge boost for my channel and I appreciate it
Absurdly helpful, thank you for explaining them all. Omw to get those amazing rare cards now.
W content bro ! keep it up!
Yet another super informative video! Perfect for people like me who are just getting back into collecting too!

I’m sorry about that. In my pursuit to learn more and increase the quality of my videos, I end up tweaking things the wrong way sometimes
Excellent video my boy
Another set of cards with no rarity symbol are the McDonald’s sets. They are not black star promos nor do they have any other rarity symbols.
Seriously love this channel! Would you ever do a video about history of poke youtubers? Shoutout to the legend jwittz 0:02

Why doesn’t the McDonald’s promos have a rarity symbol? That’s beyond me
Interesting. Never heard of V rareilty cards before.
Can you do a video talking about the weight of the booster packs? I seen so many speculation about that subject, I want to hear your opinion 🥹
I’ll put it on my list
English adopted the silver boarders now it needs to adopt the letters rarity system.
whats the best one to get right now? is the new eevee pack gonna be good? would the values be really high if they are just out compared to old ones
I HAVE THE NOIVERN/SYLVEON INTRO DECKS
Very good video, 100% Perfect. Thank you, and keep it up!!!
Honestly, perfect job. GREAT WORK!!

@@EvoisEvo they are currently still making the Magic The Gathering Cards.
I have cards from McDonald's that dont have a rarity symbol, could someone explain what it means, is it rare or did they just remove the rarity symbol
They simply removed the rarity symbols for the McDonald’s cards
Do you know shiny charm? And ditto rarity
I should’ve mentioned ditto!
Which one introduced the sylveon?
The Sylveon deck is from the XY Trainer Kit released in 2014.
