The generation of rock and blues guitarists born between the mid forties and the mid fifties in Britain are a remarkable group. We will never see or hear their like again.
Nothing fresher than the original solo from "Alone Together" for a guitar solo lover. No comparison. Different structure, different dynamic, different flow.
Many musicians do not like to play the same song the same way, but I have never heard "Look At You Look At Me" played, either as a cover or by Dave Mason himself, that comes anywhere near the incredible version on his 1970 album "Alone Together". His remake from "Alone Together Again" substitutes piano and synth where, on the original, he began that mesmerizing guitar solo that continues as the song fades. I have been listening to that track for over 45 years and it sends chills up and down my spine every time. When it is already perfect, it needs to be left alone. Many people hate cuts like this that I made on this tune. This is purism. All I want is to recognize that I've been a fool all those years that I ignored Dave Mason. I remember him, specially because the second part of this song here. One day, long ago in the past, I remembered Mason. "I'll catch up with him soon", I thought. It never happened. Now I'm old, he is older and better than ever. I admire him. A lot. He is a great man. and one of the best guitar players I ever knew.
Listen to the studio version on his 1970 album "Alone Together". That is purism. There are no other versions of that song I have seen or heard him perform that build up to the outro solo, send chills down your spine, and resolve so perfectly.
I must have listened to ‘Alone Together’ a thousand times in the 70’s.
A thousand times!!! Rookie
DAVE IS SIMPLY THE best !!!
Omnipotent
Mason
Genius
As good as any guitar solo ever. Dave is an amazing talent, maybe the most underrated guitarist of the rock era.
Formidable solo and Perfect backup
Wowwwwwwww
One of the greats who inspired me to become a lead guitarist, albeit as primarily a lifelong hobby 😁🎸

If Jeff Beck is "The professor", Dave is The Philosophical Doctor of Guitar. He says a lot with his guitar solos. What a great and amazing musician!
Gotta watch this again.
A wonderful "capture" of the artist Dave Mason. As fresh as the original solo. Thank you
you're welcome, Karen.

Dave Mason is awesome! Wonder if he played in StL on March 1, 2020 as scheduled. Glad he is still at it!
Mason's most powerful solo ever.
Absolutely!

Yeah. I knew him from back in the day, with Traffic. But never payed to much attention to him. His covers of "All Along The Watch Tower "are amazing!

Guitar orgasm. Also Sirius xm. Amazing also
Takes you away. Magnificent.
A complete guitar explosion...almost as good as XM satellite radio solo.
True that, Larry. Almost as good... That XM satellite radio is great on Mason.
