Yes, XP12 still needs some work on optimisation. I got a VR Headset on a black friday deal and have been testing that. Again, XP12 struggles with that. Its effectively running two high res screens for VR.
@@CessSim Meta Quest 2. I paid £231 for the headset including the elite headstrap and a carry case. I am still working out how to tweak it for x-plane 12. But for other games it is excellent. There are much better headsets out now. But I just wanted to try VR without breaking the bank. One thing I realised is that the cockpits look a lot different in VR. You get a much better sense of the shape and size. For example in the cessna you can't really see the wings unless you duck your head. And the Piper Cub was much harder to fly in 2D vs VR.
@@flightsimdeskuk Thanks. Ideally I should close in my side windows even further (mainly from the top) but after doing it once already, I really dont want to do it again. Perhaps will get to it in the future if I embark on a sim v2........got to get myself a VR headset me thinks......how is the resolution and FOV?
@@CessSim The FOV seems fine to me. The resolution though is just about acceptable for X-Plane (fine for games where you dont need to read small text). It is hard to read digital guages unless you press the zoom button. With analog guages though, it is fine. I believe the Meta Quest 3 is a lot better in that regard. The resolution is slightly higher and the lenses are pancake lenses vs the frenzel lenses of the Meta 2. Frenzel lenses tend to blur the image and the sweet spot for positioning the goggles is very small. Even a millimetre out will lose sharpness.
Just a heads up. The frame rate you are getting using nvidia is for one monitor only. When you are stating frame rate using 3 monitors, you must divide by 3 in order to get true frame rate. Using XP's frame rate counter is dividing the monitors by 3 automatically and shows in the upper left hand corner the actual frame rate for each monitor. The frame you you are showing is actually around 30fps per monitor. Not enough for FAA certification.
Who flies at 720p. My lowest settings are 2k on side monitors and 4 k front. 1920x1080 for pop outs. But I fly msfs 2020. Stopped flying XP for fun. Now I fly XP only when I make scenery for flying schools.
I run 13900ks with 6000 ddr5 4080 video card. Asus motherboard. Tuned system to 6.2 ghtz AIO on CPU. Also have Samsung pro 990 mvne drive. And running XP12 is nothing but stutters. Even when not using pop outs.. xp12 is not worth using right now. XP11.55 is a much better sim. and can be FAA cert. on multiscreen. XP12 can not at the moment. And I can use home made scenery with no stutters on 11. I fly MSFS but do work in XP. At the moment XP12 is a joke.
Thanks for the feedback. You have sparked my interest with XP11 as has been a while since I have used that. Will revisit XP11 in 4K......thanks for the idea !
