    he DID NOT marry anyone, certainly not princess Mary, later Queen Mary. They were only engaged. He died before their marriage. She later married his brother, as arranged by Victoria again.

      It was hoped that Albert Victor would marry his Hessian cousin, Alix. She turned him down.
      Alix would later go on to become Empress of Russia, only to be executed with her family in 1918.

      The pecking order of the succession starts with George I. If it were strictly male descent the duke of Hanover would be king. Heirs must number in the hundreds.

      @@graceskerp The UK Succession is in the thousands (Unofficial Royalty only lists about the first 20).
      If the succession were agnatic, it would have been the King of Hanover (who was the Duke of Cumberland in the UK peerage) if you were discussing Victoria.
      Had you been discussing Elizabeth II, them the one who would have succeeded George VI would have been his brother (The Duke of Gloucester).

    Why debase your otherwise adequate videos with hyperbolical HORRIFIC headlines? Death by cholera, bronchitis, or lung cancer - even for a royal - is advertised as HORRIFIC only by those publishers wishing to gain more viewership clicks by luring the type of folks hoping to view HORRIFIC details of death and dying. Not really a 'horrific' death but an untimely one. Many tricky words to deal with here - best to look up the pronunciation online to keep mistakes to a minimum, when posting your commentary! (By way of example - strychnine is pronounced 'strick-neen'; viceroy 'vice-er-roy; miasma 'my-asma' and from your very interesting video on Queen Victoria's funeral - scintillating is pronounced with a soft 'c' so 'sintillating not skintilating - just sayin'!).

    • @i.p.956
      @i.p.956 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It depends on the accent and the region (US or UK). In the UK some people pronounce lieutenant as "leftenant" and the rest of the world pronounces it "lootenant", same goes for viceroy - lots of people would pronounce it "vais-roy". I'm sorry but it's slightly rude to correct people's pronunciation unless they asked you to critique them. Not everyone who speaks English is born in the UK and not everyone speaks English as their first language.

    I did not hear what a couple of you thought you heard about Albert Victor marrying Princess Mary of Tech. The narrator made it clear they were engaged; that is all. Queen Victoria seemed to use her children/grandchildren as chess pieces, moving them wherever she wanted political gain. She married for love. Why couldn't she have done the same for her family? It boggles the mind. If Prince Albert had not passed when he did, I wonder what influence he would have had on his children's desires to marry for love. This manipulation has played havoc for generations in the family.

      It really was not a question of "intelligence" but an inability to concentrate. The Cambridge tutor who famously claimed when he first knew the prince that he "hardly knows the meaning of the words 'to read'" came to believe there was nothing wrong with him except that he couldn't concentrate for more than a few seconds which obviously impacted his learning. These days, that would be diagnosed as ADD or similar. His handwritten letters absolutely prove his intellect was normal.
