I personally think Messmer is better than any other humanoid boss in the series including Gael and Godfrey. The incredibly weighty and impactful feel of his spear attacks, the massive amount of build up from the levels preceding him, the absolute banger soundtrack, and the insane levels of visual spectacle (especially in the second phase) all make him a near perfect boss fight imo
My favorite all time boss will always be Slave Knight Gael. I know that's the most cliche pick for a lot of people but man that fight is just so good from top to bottom and I always get a feeling of sadness when I beat him because I have to go through the whole game again just to fight him
I completely agree. Despite dying dozens of times I didn't feel any anger or frustration since the fight was so well designed, that beating him gave a true feeling of satisfaction.
Isshin is still my favourite boss of all time, Sure his moveset ain’t as complex as say inner father, but its just pure fun for me, His deathblow too is one of my favourite moments in any game ever Also vergil and allmind are up there with him
Same here, isshin hits so hard for me because of the spectacle of it all. Compared to so many other boss fights isshin just felt so raw and real. The fight just feels so carefully and perfectly crafted too
I am working on the starter AC vs allmind (i've done it WITH assault armor, but now i'm working on doing it without) and holy fuck that fight is HARD. Even if you can dodge well enough to survive the fight, you can *easily* run out of ammo. That's where it gets interesting though. Eventually you start learning where you can land pulse blade hits, and that's when you'll start getting way more staggers and doing much more damage. It's an absolute marathon of a fight, I can't wait until I get the W. I honestly think Loader 4, all missions, is just as hard as any of the sl1 souls runs.
I personally don't mess with the downtime in Inner Father when he disappears into the owl, and sometimes when you go in to punish him he'll just turn into the owl. I could never really see why people put him above isshin and genichiro with that in mind
My favorite is Fatalis from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. It's a beautiful finale. You've put in the hours. You've tuned your playstyle to what you'd consider perfection. Many of the monsters you had to take down in this game challenged you. They all had their quirks and gimmicks. You alongside your closest friends get the call and voyage for a long-forgotten castle on the other side of the world. Then, this single dragon whispered in legend rears its head. It hardly looks like a "monster" at all. The castle quakes under its anger for humanity. Nothing else thus far has shown any sign of higher intelligence, so it's strange indeed this creature shows a particular desire so strongly. So the stage is set. The orchestra is chaotic. The battle is ferocious. You and your fellow hunters are hurting. The flames are burning hotter than ever all around you, and the smell of ash follows. Time is ticking faster and faster before all is lost. Then… silence. The music picks up again, and it’s YOUR theme. The dragon is finally reeling. With renewed hope against desperate anger, you fight on. An arrow from your companion brings the winged reptile down and you open its skull with one last slice. The adrenaline slows and everyone celebrates together. It's over. I like this boss fight a little bit if you couldn't tell.
@@spod5849 alatreon is really close for me. The main things that raise fatalis above alatreon for me are the music, the difficulty, and the finality of it all. Also it’s the first monster that feels like it has real stakes to me. Alatreon’s fight is really fast-paced and the mechanics keep you engaged so that part makes it more fun when I’m in the mood for it.
Pure Vessel was a slow love for me At first I thought they were great but didn;t love them But on my most recent playthrough they surpassed NKG for me they were so amazing
Lol same, I think it works that way for everyone. He kicks your ass for like an hour, and then you slowly start getting into the rhythm, and eventually it feels like a goddamn dance. Beautiful game, 11/10
Outside of Fromsoft bosses, I'd like to shoutout to Romeo from Lies of P who altered my brain on so many levels. Stellar OST, fantastic fight, very compelling lore and story.
One of my favorite bosses ever is The Burst in Furi, a game that I feel like is weirdly underplayed considering it's literally just 9 awesome bosses in a row.
Yesss! I know alot of people hate that fight for it's brutal final phase but it's suuuuch a cool boss fight Tracking her using her sniper shots is still super fun, and her combat sections are utterly brilliant. When she forces you into the center and starts using walls to limit your movement, or even her having some of the best melee combat sections in the game due to her invisibility mechanic, makes her suuuch a good and memorable boss fight Shout-out to The Strap for being the best second boss in any game ever, The Flame for being a PROPER final battle (hate you Star
Slowly revealing All minds plan until finding out that Iguazu was the final boss was one of the most shocking and favorite moments in the game!! Only topped off by "I will not miss" moment, if you know you know!!
Seeing Pure Vessel on this list was cool. I think parrying him is just really cool and he attacks much faster than NKG so I think he’s just a better boss (+it’s more complex)
Guys, I haven't played/finished Monster Hunter World, Final Fantasy 16 or Devil May Cry games. I know everyone loves bosses from those games but I have yet to fight them. I'm sure they're great. You can now stop asking why I'm such a dumb butthead to have excluded them.
I personally wouldnt put like any of those bosses higher than From/Team Ninja bosses even though they're pretty great. Actually code vein has a handful of amazing bosses although probably not top 10 of all time good
My favourite boss/es are the Prime Souls from Ultrakill. Since the game is still in early access though, only 2 of 3 have been released. I love their soundtracks, their lore, their designs, and how their movesets work perfectly with the combat of Ultrakill. Nothing more to say really they’re just the peak of FPS boss design. I have a feeling though that the final boss of Ultrakill is gonna be even more memorable than the Prime Souls so I’m eagerly awaiting the games full release in 2050.
In terms of pure story, by far my favorite is Asriel Dreemur. Never will there be another fight that perfectly caps off it's story the way Asriel did. No other fight to date has made me cry the way Asriel did. I think Sans is peak boss design, don't get me wrong. I also think Sans is the better boss fight in so many ways, but Asriel's fight had so much emotion in it that I can't help but love it more.
I adore monster hunter: world fights almost as much as fromsoft ones these days. The almost explosive tempo of later game fights makes me cream a hole into my drywall every time
So glad I’m not alone in absolutely loving Odin’s battle in Ragnarok. Between that and the INCREDIBLE OST for the fight, definitely lived up to Baldur’s final battle in GOW4 and exceeded it in its own ways for me
artorias and midir will always be my favourites, artorias was the most satisfying boss to learn and figure out the roll timing and directions its like a trial and error dance and the satisfaction from cracking it and no hitting it is amazing plus his story is one of the best in souls
My favourite boss ever is split between malenia from Elden ring and fatalis from monster hunter world. Both are extremely difficult fights with amazing aesthetics and visuals and everytime i fight them it gets better and better.
You sir have very good tastes, those 2 would be on my top 5 as well 🙃 Alongside Inner Father, Alatreon (from the same MHW, but hey, they are just that good) and, weirdly enough, Mystic Ze'Mer from a Hollow Knight Mod (Pale Court)
@@joaoluizkfsantos8392I would like alatreon but my first experience with him was pretty awful. Took me ages to get the right build for him and I will never forget being stuck on him for months. He genuinely made me quit the game for nearly a year. Fatalis is definitely much better I think.
Great list! My #1 slot definitely goes to Malenia. Like Sword Saint Isshin, I never get tired of fighting her. I'd love to see the DLC top that fight, but I don't expect it to
Seeing Nioh 2 and especially Tate Eboshi even above Gael honestly makes me so happy. Nioh 2 is so incredibly underrated and she’s such a great fight to display the games amazing combat. Awesome stuff :)
The best part in armored core 6 or even 4th gen is the dodge has no I frames, those dodge was more depth than just "100% completely dodged by just pressing one button" like soulslike games
zero i frame dodges won't work in souls games where your movements are relatively slow compared to the enemies and how tight the combat is designed. AC6 doesn't have tight combat in close range and your AC is basically a humanoid jet, so adding i frame would be overkill for your safety. IMO they are both good as long as they are put in the right situation
@MaidenlessScrub I kinda agree, but Dark Souls gives you far too many i-frames. Coming to Souls from Monster Hunter made the roll feel mad op since you get (if I remember correctly) 0.533 seconds of invincibility on light roll whereas monster hunter only gives 0.267 seconds, and even less on a hop (I think its like 0.166?) which as a switch axe player you do alot of hopping to avoid damage.
@@elk3407 But most people don't have to skill to light roll their way to victory. And the problem of spamming your roll and attacks to win in DS3 was actually addressed in Elden Ring where enemies and bosses have a mix of delayed and AoE attacks that forces you to mind your distancing and positioning as well as being less dependent on muscle memory. So yeah, DS3 did give a bit too much iFrame.
Not bad! My personal top 10 is something like: 1. Slave Knight Gael 2. Darkeater Midir 3. Twin Princes 4. Owl (Father) 5. Nameless King 6. Annihilation (Remnant 2) 7. Genichiro Ashina 8. Lu Bu (Wo Long) 9. Mohg, Lord of Blood 10. Darth Vader (Jedi: Survivor)
My favorite boss of all time is Malenia. I have fought her more than any boss and I enjoy her so much that I truly don’t mind dying to her. It just makes me happy that I get to fight her again
Both Malenia and Gael are like this for me. Whenever I beat them I wish I would’ve just let them kill me and kept fighting them. Luckily Malenia barely gets any easier for me as time goes on so I always get to fight her for a long time.
A recent addition to my favourite bosses of all time is Raphael from BG3. The music is so incredible even compared to the rest of the awesome soundtrack at other points in the game, he is a character you meet at pretty much the beginning of the game, its hard, you have to strategize, etc. just 10/10
I 100% agree. The setup and scheming he gets through the whole game, then the whole House Of Hope leading to his arrival is phenomenal. Then when he finally arrives and sings his own theme song, its the perfect encapsulation of his arrogance
14:32 you don't have to beat the game twice in the same save file to unlock inner father boss fight, I did it on my first playthrough. You just need to do a bunch of basic things in game to unlock him, a yt guide will be helpful
My favorite "boss" would probably be Bloodbath Diablos in MHGU, because of similar reasons to Allmind. It tests everything you know, and since it's the last unique monster you unlock in the game, it's the real final boss. Not many things in Monster Hunter are as fast and aggressive as this thing, and the music for it is spot on. You have to learn its attacks and when you can go in, it's never clear what it's gonna do next. It also has one of Monster Hunter's best designs IMO, the red trails across it and the steam look so damn good.
Platinum Games used to make top tier bosses in action games as well, like Monsoon and Armstrong in Metal Gear Rising or Balder and Final Jeanne in Bayonetta. Other than that I think Nioh 2 has maybe the best boss roster of any game I've played, potentially tied with Sekiro which is also amazing.
My quick unordered top 10 on top of my head: - Nameless King (DS3) - Ganondorf (Zelda TP) - Nergigante (Monster Hunter W) - Lady Maria (BB) - The boss (MGS3) - Mythos (Tales of Symphonia) - Morgott (ER) - Queen Remedi (FF tactics Advance) - Akantor (MH2) - Graham (Castelvania Aria of Sorrow)
Love the Lubu mention. That fight took me hours to play but I loved the fight the entire time. Very hard to do. My most recent favourite boss is nameless puppet from LoP
The saddest thing is how inner father doesn't use smoke screen or poison. I feel like a massive smoke screen into an ambush where you have to deflect through sound alone is gonna feel like the most badass moment ever.
1. Vergil (Dmc series) 2. Soul of cinder 3. Gael 4. Walter (ac6) 5. Burnt ivory king 6. Abyss watchers 7. Isshin 8. Morgott 9. Elianne the starved (lotf) 10. Twin princes Edit: Runner ups are allmind, pretty much every boss in ds3, urizen and the despair embodied from dmc, and the dark lord from doom eternal
@@iamleeeboyle Disagree with them being the best in gaming, but the best of dmc are as good as the best of souls, even if a game like ds3 has better overall quality
@@firstorderblade4432 that's fair. However I think Vergil in dmc 3 and 5 along with Cavalier Angelo are better than any boss fights I've experienced in gaming. Some bosses in bloodborne and sekiro are potentially on par depending on my mood. I just tend to get a little defensive when it comes to dmc because the gaming media really seems to underappreciate it while fellating games like the new god of wars.
@@iamleeeboyle most people dismiss dmc because the story is kinda cheesy, but its really not if you understand it. Its the characters like dante who just have that type of humor. Cavaliere is a sick fight with amazing music but he doesn't stand up to some of my favorites from the fromsoft series I feel like bloodborne has some of the worst bosses in the series, and its ds3 and sekiro who have the best bosses (although ds3 wins it by a large margin)
Hyperion fighting you with the organ, the music building up as you get closer and the ridicolous amount of projectiles he throws while still leaving you room to dodge, such an amazing fight
Small update Kazuya from Tekken 8 is now tied for the first place with Vergil Mr Negative from Spider Man 2 is tied with Avatar/Rahu Malus from Shadow of the Colossus is tied with Ice Worm
15:20 The final battle with Ayre was the moment I began to warm up to aim-assist/hard lock, as her insane speed made hitting her with soft lock extremely difficult, and even then it took me about ten tries to finally beat her.
even after the pain someone like promised consort radahn gave me, i can’t help but absolutely love the fight, after figuring out his gimmicks, directions to roll, etc. its honestly amazing
What makes me love the allmind fight so much is mainly for 2 reasons. First, iguana manages to break free from a hivemind from pure spite. And secondly, in deleted dialogue it's said that an agitated human mind functions similarly to coral, which means that same spite from iguan is powering IB-02 sol-644.
Good list. I did mention people being generally nit picky about lords of the fallen bosses but I wasn’t referring to what you said. I didn’t agree with everything in that ranking but it was overall pretty fair.
Here's some of mine: Favorite boss "experience" of 2023: Bahamut of Final Fantasy XVI Game with best bosses of 2023: Armored Core 6 Most Satisfying Boss to defeat of all time: Sword Saint Ishin of Sekiro
After 100% completing AC6, I found a flight sim joystick at a thrift shop nearby and it made me decide to erase my save file and play the whole game over again. Best decision ever! It was a whole different experience playing with a flight stick and mouse, let me have the precise movement with the joystick and the fast camera flicks with the mouse, best way to play the game by far. For reference it was just a Logitech attack 3, and my mouse had 2 side buttons for the shoulder weapons
Crazy to see nobody mentioning Gehrman, the first hunter..... He's got a tragic backstory , iconic design along with iconic lines, his fight is quite fun and the stage is gorgeous (and holds alot of meaning lore wise), mix that with the jaw dropping and sad soundtrack that plays, and we got a tragic and poetic end boss. The first hunter fights against the newest hunter each trying to save each other from this nightmare.....
hes a good fight but imo completely falls short compared to a ton of bosses even just in soulsborne (the old hunters trio, ds3 bosses, most elden ring demigods, inner sekiro fights)
Man, great ranking! Adding Krausser is totally based. Certainly a great boss. I have to fight All Mind Iguana again. I didn't like the first phase that much, and I barely made it alive the first time I beat him (Although, after seeing many different fights against him, now I know what are my mistakes). On a side note, Have you played the Kingdom Hearts games? I would say that many of the optional super bosses are as hard or even harder than the hardest bosses made by Fromsoft. Roxas, Xemnas, Marluxia, Xehanort from KH2 and 3 are incredible. Lingering Will is probably the hardest boss fight I ever played that isn't entirely bullsh*t (although some of his moves slip to the bs territory), and Yosora is a f*cking amazing and hard boss without any kind of bullsh*t. Took me over a 100 tries and I admit that I needed to watch some videos to learn a couple more openings to be able to beat him, but it felt so damn good when I finally got him.
I'd say my top 3 is 1: Dark Eater Midir. To this day its the only boss that gives me the sense "holy shit I've just done the impossible, And it was awesome." Not just because he's a dragon and dragons are cool. But also because his moveset is both expansive and completely fair. Most dragon fights especially in Fromsofts games tend to be shit cause the boss has insanely massive hit boxes. But with Midir the hitboxes are so tight that if you know what you're doing you can easily get away without getting hit. And his massive size add to making him seem incredibly difficult to defeat further enforced by his massive health. You'll be clawing away for hours if you didn't upgrade your weapons. But I don't mind going through thousands of mail breakers cause it just adds to the sense of pulling off this impossible feat. Its a spectacle fight without some dumb gimmick or a weapon that you need to use to win. 2: Deathstroke Arkham Origins: Partly why I keep saying Arkham Origins is my favorite in the series is because of the fight with Deathstroke. The bosses in Arkham City made you rely on your gadgets to succeed, but Origins does something different. Outside of Firefly and Deadshot, all of them make you rely on countering the enemy with more than just your gadgets. And Deathstroke shows up as the second boss not just for story reasons but to fully enforce the idea of countering the boss to win. After all at this point in the story you don't have many gadgets, and most of them can only stun Deathstroke so you need to be active and attack him. And yet he's the only boss in the series that is able to counter Batman that's insane. 3: Dante DMC5: Not many people talk about this fight mainly cause hardly anyone bothered to cover the Virgil dlc for DMC 5, but for anyone like myself who dares to sit through the painfully mediocre retread of playing through the whole story again with no cutscenes or context but as Virgil than you are given a fun as hell fight to end off on. I remember thinking that the only way this dlc can redeem itself is if it ends with me fighting Dante and Nero. And there was that doubt that was pestering me saying "nah they're not gonna do that". And then when I finally reach the final 2 levels I was blown away by I not only get to fight Dante but he turned out to be the best boss in the game. Still No Nero fight but who cares. Everything Dante can do when you control him is replicated in his fight. He has four different modes that he can transition through on the fly. He can counter your attacks. He's got guns, nunchucks, the motor cycle, a shotgun, the rocket launchers, he punches, kicks, dodges, goes super sayian and tries to pelt you with meteors. So much is happening at a fast pace which messes perfectly with your moveset. Cause you've seen what Virgil can do in his fight and now you can do that in this fight. Its like Capcom completely flipped the perspective and I love it.
I thought that the fight against dante would be easy and then he royal guarded me and deleted half my healthbar, absolutely loved that fight but I don't think it tops vergil3 from dmc3
Oh my goodness yes Dante and Vergil in dmc5 are virtually perfect bosses. And easily some of the most fun I’ve ever had in an action game. I hope he tries the game cause he would be impressed.
My own list would be: 10. Vergil (featuring Dante from DMC5; sorry, had to do it) 9. Otakemaru - Nioh 2 8. Ayre - Armored Core 6 7. Avion (5th Colossus) - Shadow of the Colossus 6. Ludwig, the Holy Blade - Bloodborne 5. Alatreon - Monster Hunter World: Iceborne 4. Slave Knight Gael - Dark Souls 3 3. Inner Father - Sekiro 2. Nanomachines, son - MGRR 1. Starscourge Radahn - Elden Ring 10 Honorable Mentions: Maliketh, the Black Blade - Elden Ring Orphan of Kos - Bloodborne Odin - GoW: Ragnarok Gna - GoW: Ragnarok Inner Isshin - Sekiro Balteus - Armored Core 6 Nightmare King Grimm - Hollow Knight Lu Bu - Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Tela Vasir - Mass Effect 2 Nergigante - Monster Hunter World
For me nothing can beat original Isshin. I've never been so stuck on a boss. But that feeling when he forced me to embrace how all of the other bosses had been hinting was the way to play the game, being aggressive and keeping constant pressure, was unreal. He even tells you: "Hesitation is defeat!" Exactly the philosophy necessary to overcome him. He got me to engage in every game mechanic, in the way they were intended to be used, and it all finally clicked on my first successful kill. I will never forget that feeling. It is the most exhilarated a game has ever made me feel. He made me feel like I didn't just grind out a kill, he made me feel like I had truly mastered the game. Which in my mind is what the best final bosses should all do.
1. Isshin (Sekiro) 2. Ayre (AC6) 3. Godfrey (ER) 4. Vergil/Dante (DMC5) 5. Xemnas (KH2) Isshin is just the peak of what a final boss can be; Ayre is just a bittersweet fight with the most thought put in AC6 and not many flaws like Allmind; and I highly doubt there would be a better boss than Godfrey/Hoara Loux in ER (I'll be more than happy to be wrong). DMC5, for me, is the most polished action game in the market and KH2 was such a great title, even if the story was complete nonsense. So both deserve the 4th and 5th place.
Inner Isshin and Genichiro are without a doubt my favourite bosses of all time. Inner father never clicked as much for me but its still Sekiro so I still loved it.
I can completely understand why you would pick Godfrey and horah loux, but I cannot pick anyone in elden ring above dragon lord placidusax, The first time I saw that enormous ancient two headed dragon dissappear into the air only for him to come CRASHING DOWN AT THE SPEED OF A FIGHTER JET. I knew he would be my favorite
Solid list. I can't find myself disagreeing with any spots here. It's probably not a boss you've encountered in your gaming endeavors but "Primordial Malzeno" (especially the hazard version) from MHR:Sunbreak is an absolute masterpiece too... The speed runner "Phinx" has a great long sword solo if you want to see a very short example of the fight. Otherwise, Peppo (the GOAT) showcases the fight with no build as part of his "the only thing you need is quick sheath" series. It takes a lot longer but you get to see the fight in all its glory. I personally think it's the only boss in the Monster hunter series that deserves to be included amongst the other bosses mentioned here so you aren't missing a large array of additions by not playing the series. Though, you should still try the games because they're incredible (if not a little hard to get into).
My favorite boss in a game is xemnas from kh2. The music, the epic QuickTime events, the sound of xemnas’ awesome voice echoing across the void, the tag team with riku, chasing him down through the fractured city and tossing buildings at his dragon, the final desperation move with the hundreds of lasers shooting at you at once. Another thing I like is how most of the game you’ve been learning about the organization, nobodies, and the collective goal of the group itself. And in the final phase of the boss, with xemnas saying “we shall go together” I believe implies that he has accepted that he cannot win, and that all he cares about now is returning to the void as long as he takes Sora and riku down with him.
Inner Genichiro is probably my favorite. Genichiro himself is the first real wall in the game. After him the game kinda opens up, so even if you never beat another boss you get to see so much. But he is the first boss to demand you use EVERYTHING You've learned. Inner Genichiro is that times 100. Far more precise, far higher risk. But, when you finally click, the dance you do together is perfect.
just realized that ludwig seems to be able to communicate with the moon, so he was likely the moon presence’s chosen one, who probably gave him the sword. now when ranni also worships the moon, i thought that was a coincident, but now that i found out that mohg is possessed by an outer god called the formless mother or the formless one (don’t remember the exact name), i think about how the coincidence tell a neat story. - we help ranni bring the moon presence into the world. this makes wherever elden ring takes place on a buffet for the outer gods that both the greater will and radahn kept out - the catacombs and hero tombs persists and is appropriated by the pthumerians, or maybe the people of the bloodborne era call the civilization of the elden ring era pthrumerian - the “spells” of bloodborne call upon the cosmos, lightning, beastblood, and elden ring spells call upon the stars, lightning and dragon’s lightning, and while you can’t turn into a beast, you can have a bestial vitality - formless oedon’s rune says he’s looking for precious blood. the formless goddess that’s possessing mohg gives him the power of blood (or enhances it). since bb showed how gods can have children, could this mean oedon is looking for signs of his mother? - great ones seem to have to materialize into our plane/dimension in order to fight us in both games - kos, or some say kosm, is a great one dwelling beneath the sea and seems to give birth to fish-like creatures or create them somehow. crabs and lobsters and octopi flourish in the lands between, maybe because kosm was alive, healthy, and happy? my headcanon is that the events of ds3’s dlc painted/created the world of elden ring and probably sekiro (whose “lands of reed” is referenced in elden ring), and elden ring lead into bloodborne. some guy in bloodborne, through whatever means, is pulled across time and space into oolacile this boss appreciation comment turned into a bit of a lore fanfic idk
I can't believe Daimon from Dragons Dogma didn't make it on this list? What a wicked and punishing fight, I don't think I've had anything so epic in any other game.
My #1 would have to be Soul of Cinder, its animations are telegraphed enough so you see them coming and have enough time to react but then they're so different to previous bosses' that you're caught off guard. The multiple movesets add even more depth by multiplying the amount of attacks you need to learn while an amazing theme plays in the background. Then, once you think it's over, it gets back up with a very familiar sword as 3 distinctive piano notes increase the difficulty by impairing your vision with tears. 10/10, never gets boring
Fun fact about pure vessel. The roar at the beginning has no sound unlike many other bosses in the game. It is because vessels are stated to have no voice to cry suffering.
The fact that boss responds to your action mid attack, and changes his animations is what solidifies for me, Sekiro combat is untouchable so far. Really wish for sekiro 2 or similar combat system.
YESSSS IGUAZUMIND IS SO GOOD. TOOK ME OUTA LEFT FIELD ON THE REVEAL. CHARGES A KARASAWA AT THE BEGINNING LETTING YOU KNOW PLAYTIMES OVER. HAS THE ONLY IMPRESSIVE IGUAZU FEAT OF OVERPOWERING ALLMIND WHILE PUTTING HUMAN WILL OVER MACHINE CONTROL. GOD THIS FIGHT IS EVERYTHING I WANTED AS A MECHA FAN.
My #1 favorite boss of all time is Starscourge Radahn from Elden Ring. The entire fight is a spectacle from the attacks to the arena, to the phase transition to the beginning cutscene. The concept to be able to summon a bunch of allies to help in the fight is just amazing!
The fight with inner father is in fact, impactful to the story, you're actually living the true memory at Hirata, through the eyes of the Owl. The first time you go there, it's a fake memory granted by the sick woman that gave you the bell and didn't remember what actually happened
Lotta people are surprised by Nioh 2 placement, and though I can agree that the game is total fire, don't forget that it has a much (and I mean, much) higher barrier for entry, than your typical "souls-like". It is much harder than anything From Software has done in their games. Pleased to hear praises to ALLMIND, I have only vague memories of the boss, possibly because I was getting tired of the game by the point I got to him, so he's definitely on my list of challenges I should return to at some point. If I were to contribute my favourites from the titles you've covered: Hollow Knight - not played GoW Ragnarok - Gna RE4 - Salazar Bloodborne - Orphan / Lawrence / Ludwig / Maria DS3 - Midir Nioh 2 - Minamoto no Yoshitsune
Inner Father solves the issue of the pillars by letting you at any time throw a shuriken at him to have him go right to your location with mist raven into an overhead strike. This lets you easily keep the fight in the center of the arena and lets you up the pacing to how fast you can do the fight. Mohg for me is my favorite Elden Ring boss, but I'm curious how things will shake out after I've bested him and Godfrey on RL1. Pure Vessel is definitely my favorite from Hollow Knight, fully agree there. I came in to this video wanting to know if there existed a boss better than Inner Father and it seems like instead of finishing the video I need to sacrifice another $60 to From Software...
In 2023 some of the FFXVI bosses absolutely blew me away with their presentation, music and gamefeel, even though only one of those fights was kind of difficult and the rest quite easy.
It's increadibly difficult for me to limit myself to 10 specific bosses as there are so many fantastic bosses out there. That said however my top 3 as of now are probably the only ones I feel safe about, that being: 1. Malenia 2. Maria 3. Isshin the Sword Saint These bosses so far have offered the best balance between gameplay/mechanics, challenge, enjoyment factor and presentation imo. Easy 10/10 in most if not all categories to me. There are a billion other bosses I could name as contenders for the following 7 places honestly, but even among these there are a few that really stand out to me like Godfrey, Alatreon (his Iceborne version) and Ganandorf (TotK). These 3 are just among the first I think of when the topic of bosses in videogames comes up and I don't quite know why exactly tbh.
My all time bosses are King of the puppet(includes Roemo) and Nameless puppet. Both are such a well made boss, honestly it rivals fromsoft's bosses imo.
Definitely a different genre but Sans from Undertale is worth mentioning. To culminate your genocide run, you get a heart pumping fight with comedic effect, great music, and an ever lasting impact on your game files for any future playthroughs
I tend to suffer greatly from recency bias with boss fights. As such, right now Titan Lost from FF16 is my favorite boss fight. Its not mechanically very interesting, but i dont think any game has equalled the spectacle and presentation. It is absolute bombastic isanity
My list goes (also limiting to 1 boss per game): 1. Tate Eboshi - Nioh 2 (Close with Minamoto no Yorimitsu, Otakemaru, Shibata Katsuie, Toshimitsu Saito... sht this 1 game limitation really hurting Nioh 2) 2. Shadow Prince - Divinity: Original sin 2 (Close with Adramahlihk, Lucian, Alexandar in Fort Joy) 3. Ketheric Thorm / Avatar of Myrkul - Baldur's Gate 3 (Close with Raphael, Ansur, Cazador) 4 . Larry "Solo Wing Pixy" Foulke - Ace Combat Zero 5. Technically not a boss fight in the traditional sense of the word, but sure felt like one to me, first encounter with CSAT Chinese spec ops - Arma 3: Apex Protocol 6. Owl (father) - Sekiro (got bored halfway through NG+ so never met inner bosses, close with Isshin Sword Saint, Genichiro) 7. Soul of Cinder - Dark Souls 3 8. Artorias - Dark Souls 1 9. Jetstream Sam - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 10. Rockbreaker (The Claws Beneath) - Horizon: Zero Dawn
Raphael is a way better boss than Ketheric Thorm in BG3. Just because of the OST alone. Ketheric Thorm was dead in a few hits on my Tactician PT. He was barely a challenge.
@@EldenLord. Was the opposite for me, Raphael lasted a few turns at no point being a threat, while KT / Avatar fight took me a couple tries (not at the top of the tower, that one did end up almost instantly), am curious about how did you and several others defeat myrkul on a couple hits though, since you got to rescue aylin first and is otherwise invulnerable, add those mobs he creates pillars for that explode when born causing some serious damage plus the ones already summoned, the mindflayer taking over characters and whatnot, also, personality of KT and presentation of Avatar of Myrkul was on dammn point, plus lore importance, Raphael was a fantastic fight, but just didn't click as much IMO, plus yeah, on my personal experience he was easier than KT, Tactician blind playthrough
8:15 is what makes me still consider Tate Eboshi she is the only boss that I feel really encourages stance swapping in the game as more than just the optimal way to play
hahah yeaah... took me all the way to DotN to realise that, but if you hit her with say abherrant soldier soul core when she jumps on amrita platform to shoot you projectiles or jump high before slamming the ground she does a rather comical animation and falls flat on her face and belly, I died when I first saw it cause I couldn't hold my laughter for a good while@@doolenny9458
No Lingering Will or Yozora? No Azel from God Hand? No Angelo Credo, Dante let alone Vergil? No Sans Undertale?! What is this?! It's almost like you play different games or something!
11:34 Something I love about Godfrey is you already fought Pissfrey before. And he tends to start with the same moves that Pissfrey had so he lulls you into a false sense of security before switching his move set up and completely taking you off guard. Also sad as hell Inner Father was dethroned, he still is my favorite boss ever but I don’t disagree with your choice for 1. The fact Allguazu is canonically fueled by Iguana’s salt is just peak fiction to me.
also idk if you ever heard of the series but if you ever want some nice action games with fun bosses to learn I reccomend Ys Origin and Ys Oath in Felghana. the rest of the series and Falcom's ARPGs in general aren't as consistently great with boss design as these two games. but they're still a decent time overall, at least they appeal to me but at the very least I confidently reccomend those two to any Souls/ARPG fans because they got pretty good boss rosters of monsters and humanoids to learn. Ys Origin especially has such a fun set of humanoid boss types
Ys 8 and 9 as well if you want more modern action RPGs, on normal mode they're a bit easier but on the harder difficulties you really need to master your game
So about 12:48... Messmer the Impaler is definitely up there, but not entirely sure I like him over Godfrey yet. Pretty even for me right now.
What aspects of each of them do you prefer, and which do you think they’re equal in?
I personally think Messmer is better than any other humanoid boss in the series including Gael and Godfrey. The incredibly weighty and impactful feel of his spear attacks, the massive amount of build up from the levels preceding him, the absolute banger soundtrack, and the insane levels of visual spectacle (especially in the second phase) all make him a near perfect boss fight imo
Messmer is my favorite human sized boss. The arena, attacks just are so balaced
@@jameslough6329pretty sure you made it in his new video
My favorite all time boss will always be Slave Knight Gael. I know that's the most cliche pick for a lot of people but man that fight is just so good from top to bottom and I always get a feeling of sadness when I beat him because I have to go through the whole game again just to fight him
W Gael is the best boss of all time for me aswell
He is just so fucking good I am genuinely baffled by how much I love him
Not a cliche pick at all Gael is pure quality
gael is just superior bro
Perhaps it's cliche for a reason. Bro's tight in every aspect.
I completely agree. Despite dying dozens of times I didn't feel any anger or frustration since the fight was so well designed, that beating him gave a true feeling of satisfaction.
Isshin is still my favourite boss of all time, Sure his moveset ain’t as complex as say inner father, but its just pure fun for me, His deathblow too is one of my favourite moments in any game ever
Also vergil and allmind are up there with him
Same here, isshin hits so hard for me because of the spectacle of it all.
Fatalis being held in the air from the force of his fire breath is certainly one one the moments of all time in video games
Solo Safi'jiiva still has to be my favourite fight tho
@@sebastian.c7222 Oh yeah definitely. MHW has SO many fantastic bosses.
Took me like a whole week to beat him but honeslty i don't enjoy the fight that much, i think that Alatreon is the best fight in world
@@spod5849 alatreon is really close for me.
Pure Vessel was a slow love for me
At first I thought they were great but didn;t love them
But on my most recent playthrough they surpassed NKG for me they were so amazing
Romeo is my 2nd favorite boss in lies of p! Such a great fight!
absolutely lies of p is underrated asf
Agreed! Romeo is my favorite boss from Lies of P overall, tho if we were speaking strictly combat/ mechanics hes beaten by Laxasia and Nameless Puppet
One of my favorite bosses ever is The Burst in Furi, a game that I feel like is weirdly underplayed considering it's literally just 9 awesome bosses in a row.
That whole game is top-tier boss fights for real.
Furi was amazing whole way through
Glad someone mentioned it
Yesss! I know alot of people hate that fight for it's brutal final phase but it's suuuuch a cool boss fight
Tracking her using her sniper shots is still super fun, and her combat sections are utterly brilliant. When she forces you into the center and starts using walls to limit your movement, or even her having some of the best melee combat sections in the game due to her invisibility mechanic, makes her suuuch a good and memorable boss fight
Shout-out to The Strap for being the best second boss in any game ever, The Flame for being a PROPER final battle (hate you Star
Yeah furis goated my favourite is the one that goes 2d in the 3rd phas
Seeing some morgott appreciation makes me happy and a really good video. Allmind looks freaking amazing
Lol parrying is so underused by most HK players, it’s so damn satisfying
Guys, I haven't played/finished Monster Hunter World, Final Fantasy 16 or Devil May Cry games. I know everyone loves bosses from those games but I have yet to fight them. I'm sure they're great. You can now stop asking why I'm such a dumb butthead to have excluded them.
most dmc bosses are really mid tbh besides vergil and a few others
I personally wouldnt put like any of those bosses higher than From/Team Ninja bosses even though they're pretty great. Actually code vein has a handful of amazing bosses although probably not top 10 of all time good
The fact you have inner father above pukei pukei is kind of embarrassing
@@Reez22154Vergil cavelier Angelo and maybe credo Angelo are the only ones I would consider for top 10
@@doolenny9458Fatalis was pretty dope as well
My favourite boss/es are the Prime Souls from Ultrakill.
Was looking for someone to mention ultrakill
the prime souls are fucking incredible
Between that and the INCREDIBLE OST for the fight, definitely lived up to Baldur’s final battle in GOW4 and exceeded it in its own ways for me
It was a dissapointing boss for a dissapointing game
@@RedFade k. Can’t relate lol
Agree on everything you've said
Allmind fight is so goated
artorias and midir will always be my favourites, artorias was the most satisfying boss to learn and figure out the roll timing and directions its like a trial and error dance and the satisfaction from cracking it and no hitting it is amazing plus his story is one of the best in souls
For the longest time it was Lady Maria
after this year it is easily Bahamut from FF 16..holy mother of god was that an insane spectacle.
even though i don’t like the game much overall, him and ultima were just…👨🏽🍳
spectacle isnt all to a boss fight..
My favourite boss ever is split between malenia from Elden ring and fatalis from monster hunter world. Both are extremely difficult fights with amazing aesthetics and visuals and everytime i fight them it gets better and better.
You sir have very good tastes, those 2 would be on my top 5 as well 🙃
Alongside Inner Father, Alatreon (from the same MHW, but hey, they are just that good) and, weirdly enough, Mystic Ze'Mer from a Hollow Knight Mod (Pale Court)
@@joaoluizkfsantos8392I would like alatreon but my first experience with him was pretty awful. Took me ages to get the right build for him and I will never forget being stuck on him for months. He genuinely made me quit the game for nearly a year. Fatalis is definitely much better I think.
Fellow MH fan✊️
I'd say the best is Alatreon but fatalis also mad good too
Malenia W
Me too! Nioh 2 DOES NOT get enough credit!
Honestly my favorite “souls” combat if you can even call it that because it’s definitely so much more than just souls combat
Nioh 2 is one game that I think has a near infinite skill ceiling. There is so much shit you can do
I'm not a huge fan of Nioh, but fucking hell, that fight was absolutely amazing
Still nowhere near as fun as Nioh 1 and the maps are about as fun to get through as the DS2 dlc's🤡
It does look pretty though..... I guess....
The best part in armored core 6 or even 4th gen is the dodge has no I frames, those dodge was more depth than just "100% completely dodged by just pressing one button" like soulslike games
Yeah and it's insane how well it works in ac6. All those crazy tracking attacks and yet you can dodge allminds claws with a tank
zero i frame dodges won't work in souls games where your movements are relatively slow compared to the enemies and how tight the combat is designed.
Not bad! My personal top 10 is something like:
1. Slave Knight Gael
2. Darkeater Midir
3. Twin Princes
4. Owl (Father)
5. Nameless King
6. Annihilation (Remnant 2)
7. Genichiro Ashina
8. Lu Bu (Wo Long)
9. Mohg, Lord of Blood
Same

HOW DARE YOU SPEAK HER NAME IN THIS HALLOWED PLACE
A recent addition to my favourite bosses of all time is Raphael from BG3. The music is so incredible even compared to the rest of the awesome soundtrack at other points in the game, he is a character you meet at pretty much the beginning of the game, its hard, you have to strategize, etc. just 10/10
I 100% agree. The setup and scheming he gets through the whole game, then the whole House Of Hope leading to his arrival is phenomenal. Then when he finally arrives and sings his own theme song, its the perfect encapsulation of his arrogance
@@SeelsOfElation my friends already told me before fighting him, that the theme song was great, and I was still blown away by it
His boss theme almost sent me to heaven when I first heard it. It is beautiful.
Lol, lmao even
14:32 you don't have to beat the game twice in the same save file to unlock inner father boss fight, I did it on my first playthrough. You just need to do a bunch of basic things in game to unlock him, a yt guide will be helpful
You basically need to BEAT the game one time, and then beat half of it this second time.
3 inner boss versions of Sekiro are beyond epic.
Bra he's a fucking menace 💀
Remember commenting on your bloodborne weapon rankings vid 6 years ago. Didn't think you'd blow up this big. Great work!
Sisters of battle also has one of my favorite soundtracks. Hollow Knight is the best metroidvania.
Also the Adam and Eve fights and the 9S/A2 fights from Nier Automata
Bayonetta bosses peaked with Jeanne and they have been mid ever since
@@MILDMONSTER1234 I've only played the first game, hopefully it's not the case though
My quick unordered top 10 on top of my head:
- Nameless King (DS3)
- Ganondorf (Zelda TP)
- Nergigante (Monster Hunter W)
- Lady Maria (BB)
- The boss (MGS3)
- Mythos (Tales of Symphonia)
- Morgott (ER)
- Queen Remedi (FF tactics Advance)
- Akantor (MH2)
- Graham (Castelvania Aria of Sorrow)
Love the Lubu mention. That fight took me hours to play but I loved the fight the entire time. Very hard to do. My most recent favourite boss is nameless puppet from LoP
Armored core 6 getting the love it deserved I am happy
The saddest thing is how inner father doesn't use smoke screen or poison. I feel like a massive smoke screen into an ambush where you have to deflect through sound alone is gonna feel like the most badass moment ever.
It’s a testament to from software’s quality to have this many of their boss fights on this list, and I 100% agree
1. Vergil (Dmc series)
2. Soul of cinder
3. Gael
4. Walter (ac6)
5. Burnt ivory king
6. Abyss watchers
7. Isshin
8. Morgott
9. Elianne the starved (lotf)
10. Twin princes
Edit: Runner ups are allmind, pretty much every boss in ds3, urizen and the despair embodied from dmc, and the dark lord from doom eternal
FINALLY. Devil May Cry so rarely gets mentioned in videos like this despite the fact it's bosses are the best in gaming.
Cavaliere is a sick fight with amazing music but he doesn't stand up to some of my favorites from the fromsoft series
I feel like bloodborne has some of the worst bosses in the series, and its ds3 and sekiro who have the best bosses (although ds3 wins it by a large margin)
I'm going to throw in a curveball. Yozora from Kingdom Hearts 3, stands toe to toe with the FromSoft bosses in my opinion
I loved Odin, but Thor is just another level

10. Avatar(Ghostrunner 2)
9. Ice Worm(Armored Core 6)
8. Higgs Monaghan(Death Stranding)
7. Godfrey(Elden Ring)
6. Soul of Cinder(Dark Souls 3)
5. Mr Freeze (Arkham City)
4. Hardest place...Ludwig/Gehrman/Inner Father
3. Thor(God of war: Ragnarok)
2. Hyperion (Returnal)
1. Vergil( Devil May Cry V)
Hyperion fighting you with the organ, the music building up as you get closer and the ridicolous amount of projectiles he throws while still leaving you room to dodge, such an amazing fight
Small update
Kazuya from Tekken 8 is now tied for the first place with Vergil
Mr Negative from Spider Man 2 is tied with Avatar/Rahu
Malus from Shadow of the Colossus is tied with Ice Worm
the Bahamut fight in Final Fantasy XVI might be my new favorite boss fight of all time
15:20 The final battle with Ayre was the moment I began to warm up to aim-assist/hard lock, as her insane speed made hitting her with soft lock extremely difficult, and even then it took me about ten tries to finally beat her.
odin is kinda crazy pick. thought he was one of the most underwhelming bosses for an otherwise amazing. great list though.
even after the pain someone like promised consort radahn gave me, i can’t help but absolutely love the fight, after figuring out his gimmicks, directions to roll, etc. its honestly amazing
Bahamut from ff16 is somewhere in my top 10 for sure. I dont see enough people talking about it
Good list. I did mention people being generally nit picky about lords of the fallen bosses but I wasn’t referring to what you said. I didn’t agree with everything in that ranking but it was overall pretty fair.
I could not have agreed more than with the line “the Godfrey fight made me feel like I was playing GOW more than Ragnarok ever did”. Well said.
Armoured core is a criminally underrated game
The whole Franchise is underrated
Here's some of mine:
Favorite boss "experience" of 2023: Bahamut of Final Fantasy XVI
Game with best bosses of 2023: Armored Core 6
Most Satisfying Boss to defeat of all time: Sword Saint Ishin of Sekiro
Gehrman was mint, absolute masterpiece
hes a good fight but imo completely falls short compared to a ton of bosses even just in soulsborne (the old hunters trio, ds3 bosses, most elden ring demigods, inner sekiro fights)
German while having great soundtrack unfortunately if you do the dlc first then you would destroy him and that space worm
Lingering Will is probably the hardest boss fight I ever played
that isn't entirely bullsh*t (although some of his moves slip to the bs territory), and Yosora is a f*cking amazing and hard boss without any kind of bullsh*t. Took me over a 100 tries and I admit that I needed to watch some videos to learn a couple more openings to be able to beat him, but it felt so damn good when I finally got him.
ACVI getting the attention it deserves thank god.
I'd say my top 3 is
1: Dark Eater Midir.
@@walberparker7111 fair enough.
Oh my goodness yes Dante and Vergil in dmc5 are virtually perfect bosses. And easily some of the most fun I’ve ever had in an action game. I hope he tries the game cause he would be impressed.
DMC 4 also has a really cool Dante fight in the main story, as well as maybe the best bossfights in the series with Credo Angelo
My own list would be:
10. Vergil (featuring Dante from DMC5; sorry, had to do it)
9. Otakemaru - Nioh 2
8. Ayre - Armored Core 6
7. Avion (5th Colossus) - Shadow of the Colossus
6. Ludwig, the Holy Blade - Bloodborne
5. Alatreon - Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
4. Slave Knight Gael - Dark Souls 3
3. Inner Father - Sekiro
2. Nanomachines, son - MGRR
1. Starscourge Radahn - Elden Ring
10 Honorable Mentions:
Maliketh, the Black Blade - Elden Ring
Orphan of Kos - Bloodborne
Odin - GoW: Ragnarok
Gna - GoW: Ragnarok
Inner Isshin - Sekiro
Balteus - Armored Core 6
Nightmare King Grimm - Hollow Knight
Lu Bu - Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Tela Vasir - Mass Effect 2
Nergigante - Monster Hunter World
I’d replace alatreon with fatalis but fair enough
Nameless puppet was top tier for me, probably would’ve placed it near #8
1. Isshin (Sekiro)
2. Ayre (AC6)
3. Godfrey (ER)
4. Vergil/Dante (DMC5)
5. Xemnas (KH2)
Isshin is just the peak of what a final boss can be; Ayre is just a bittersweet fight with the most thought put in AC6 and not many flaws like Allmind; and I highly doubt there would be a better boss than Godfrey/Hoara Loux in ER (I'll be more than happy to be wrong).
DMC5, for me, is the most polished action game in the market and KH2 was such a great title, even if the story was complete nonsense. So both deserve the 4th and 5th place.
I personally find Data Larxene and Lingering Will to be the most fun bosses in KH2FM.
@@BBQcheese Thanks bud!
Final xemnas from kingdom hearts 2 will always be my favorite boss. Slave knight Gael is a close second
Inner Isshin and Genichiro are without a doubt my favourite bosses of all time. Inner father never clicked as much for me but its still Sekiro so I still loved it.
I can completely understand why you would pick Godfrey and horah loux, but I cannot pick anyone in elden ring above dragon lord placidusax,
The first time I saw that enormous ancient two headed dragon dissappear into the air only for him to come CRASHING DOWN AT THE SPEED OF A FIGHTER JET. I knew he would be my favorite
Incredible experience ngl
Primordial Malzeno is such a kickass fight. I don't think it's my favorite monster, but definitely the best fight in the series.
Primordial malzeno is the rare time when monster hunter tells a good story and has a perfect fight
Man watching this video makes me want to refight Allmind that fight really does get better on refights
And tbh it is a fight I still struggle on
Inner Genichiro is probably my favorite.
- we help ranni bring the moon presence into the world. this makes wherever elden ring takes place on a buffet for the outer gods that both the greater will and radahn kept out
- the catacombs and hero tombs persists and is appropriated by the pthumerians, or maybe the people of the bloodborne era call the civilization of the elden ring era pthrumerian
- the “spells” of bloodborne call upon the cosmos, lightning, beastblood, and elden ring spells call upon the stars, lightning and dragon’s lightning, and while you can’t turn into a beast, you can have a bestial vitality
- formless oedon’s rune says he’s looking for precious blood. the formless goddess that’s possessing mohg gives him the power of blood (or enhances it). since bb showed how gods can have children, could this mean oedon is looking for signs of his mother?
- great ones seem to have to materialize into our plane/dimension in order to fight us in both games
- kos, or some say kosm, is a great one dwelling beneath the sea and seems to give birth to fish-like creatures or create them somehow. crabs and lobsters and octopi flourish in the lands between, maybe because kosm was alive, healthy, and happy?
my headcanon is that the events of ds3’s dlc painted/created the world of elden ring and probably sekiro (whose “lands of reed” is referenced in elden ring), and elden ring lead into bloodborne. some guy in bloodborne, through whatever means, is pulled across time and space into oolacile
this boss appreciation comment turned into a bit of a lore fanfic idk
I can't believe Daimon from Dragons Dogma didn't make it on this list? What a wicked and punishing fight, I don't think I've had anything so epic in any other game.
Approved.
I fought him with the Warrior class, biggest mistake of my life. Shit was like 30 minutes 😂.
That game is sick but you cant really use skill to beat the bosses. You are basically carried by your gear.
@@mattmichael3310 my man over here playing packmule simulator.
@@sheahi well the opposite. In that case I'd be carrying my gear! Lol
The concept to be able to summon a bunch of allies to help in the fight is just amazing!
correction regarding nioh 2:
the big booba boss is kasha. also a nice fight.
tate eboshi has cool yams but kasha has s tier milkers.
5 seconds later i cannot believe i actually wrote that comment.
Nightmare king Grimm and lady Maria are 2 great bosses imo
5:14 "Deflection porn" reminds me of that video YT randomly recommended to me:
"You Can Parry Nukes In This Game"
The fight with inner father is in fact, impactful to the story, you're actually living the true memory at Hirata, through the eyes of the Owl. The first time you go there, it's a fake memory granted by the sick woman that gave you the bell and didn't remember what actually happened
I've never actually gotten around to doing Inner Father and Inner Isshin. Maybe this will motivate me.
If I were to contribute my favourites from the titles you've covered:
Hollow Knight - not played
GoW Ragnarok - Gna
RE4 - Salazar
Bloodborne - Orphan / Lawrence / Ludwig / Maria
DS3 - Midir
Nioh 2 - Minamoto no Yoshitsune
My guy never played old fromsoft games
top 3 bosses oat
#1 Ludwig/Gael
#2 Vergil (DMC3/5)
#3 Data Roxas (Kingdom Hearts 2.5)
I love your videos man please keep it going. Your boss ranking bids are fire o
That said however my top 3 as of now are probably the only ones I feel safe about, that being:
1. Malenia
2. Maria
3. Isshin the Sword Saint
These bosses so far have offered the best balance between gameplay/mechanics, challenge, enjoyment factor and presentation imo.
When ALLMIND crushed the other ac under its foot I jumped up and yelled. That fight cemented AC6 as my goty.
My all time bosses are King of the puppet(includes Roemo) and Nameless puppet. Both are such a well made boss, honestly it rivals fromsoft's bosses imo.
I agree. King of Puppets is so good. I like how phase 2 is just so different than phase 1
'deflection porn' has got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard
Great list 👍
Definitely a different genre but Sans from Undertale is worth mentioning. To culminate your genocide run, you get a heart pumping fight with comedic effect, great music, and an ever lasting impact on your game files for any future playthroughs
Looking for this comment
I tend to suffer greatly from recency bias with boss fights. As such, right now Titan Lost from FF16 is my favorite boss fight. Its not mechanically very interesting, but i dont think any game has equalled the spectacle and presentation. It is absolute bombastic isanity
I enjoy watching your videos Magic Cat
My list goes (also limiting to 1 boss per game):
1. Tate Eboshi - Nioh 2 (Close with Minamoto no Yorimitsu, Otakemaru, Shibata Katsuie, Toshimitsu Saito... sht this 1 game limitation really hurting Nioh 2)
2. Shadow Prince - Divinity: Original sin 2 (Close with Adramahlihk, Lucian, Alexandar in Fort Joy)
3. Ketheric Thorm / Avatar of Myrkul - Baldur's Gate 3 (Close with Raphael, Ansur, Cazador)
4 . Larry "Solo Wing Pixy" Foulke - Ace Combat Zero
5. Technically not a boss fight in the traditional sense of the word, but sure felt like one to me, first encounter with CSAT Chinese spec ops - Arma 3: Apex Protocol
6. Owl (father) - Sekiro (got bored halfway through NG+ so never met inner bosses, close with Isshin Sword Saint, Genichiro)
7. Soul of Cinder - Dark Souls 3
8. Artorias - Dark Souls 1
9. Jetstream Sam - Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
10. Rockbreaker (The Claws Beneath) - Horizon: Zero Dawn
Based soul of cinder and Sam enjoyer
After playing Wo Long base game I haven't gone back to play the DLC. Nioh 2 was just so good and I agree Lu bu was the best roster in base game
Here to represent the Lady Maria fans (my fav boss). Ty for the love 👍
1. Daimon (Dragons Dogma)
2. Raphael (Baldurs Gate 3)
3. Ludwig (Bloodborne)
4. Morgott (Elden Ring)
5. Hyperion (Returnal)
8:15 is what makes me still consider Tate Eboshi
she is the only boss that I feel really encourages stance swapping in the game as more than just the optimal way to play
Also, it's always funny to make her fall flat on her face if you hit her while airborne / on the amrita platforms
@@johjoh9270 holy shit I didn’t know you could do that that’s awesome
hahah yeaah... took me all the way to DotN to realise that, but if you hit her with say abherrant soldier soul core when she jumps on amrita platform to shoot you projectiles or jump high before slamming the ground she does a rather comical animation and falls flat on her face and belly, I died when I first saw it cause I couldn't hold my laughter for a good while@@doolenny9458
I'd say the dlc bosses all do that as well
What are you talking about the whole Nioh series encourage stance swapping af
No Lingering Will or Yozora? No Azel from God Hand? No Angelo Credo, Dante let alone Vergil? No Sans Undertale?! What is this?! It's almost like you play different games or something!
My favorite bosses are: Marika, Miquella, Goddess of Rot, Godwin of Deathroot, and the Greater Will.
Sadly, they don't exist yet.
Goldfrey fits better
yes, Inner father is the best boss in my opinion, glad to see it get the recognition it deserves.
also idk if you ever heard of the series but if you ever want some nice action games with fun bosses to learn I reccomend Ys Origin and Ys Oath in Felghana.
the rest of the series and Falcom's ARPGs in general aren't as consistently great with boss design as these two games. but they're still a decent time overall, at least they appeal to me
but at the very least I confidently reccomend those two to any Souls/ARPG fans because they got pretty good boss rosters of monsters and humanoids to learn. Ys Origin especially has such a fun set of humanoid boss types
Ys 8 and 9 as well if you want more modern action RPGs, on normal mode they're a bit easier but on the harder difficulties you really need to master your game
