I HATE the magicat type of enemy. He breaks ALL the rules of the game by releasing banger after banger and not giving a chance for the viewer to catch a break. On top of that he NEVER staggers when faced with the general popular opinion of the community (example: sharks are bad because they kill me) and provides actual good arguments to defend his point of view. Truly one of the worst enemies.

Something I really like about Sekiro is that, the more you play, the more you turn into a Shura. It's like, after some point you had become so good that you start to ditch stealth and go against as many enemies as possible because you just want more fights, more aggression, more blood, and you just can't get enough of it. I don't know if in some way that's the intended experience, like a meta message of the game, or if I'm a little crazy, but Sekiro it's freaking amazing. Now, I saying all of this, it's because I fought all the interior ministry ninjas at roof of Ashina Castle and somehow defeat them all without using stealth.

    • @crabniac
      @crabniac 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Same goes for Bloodborne (more specifically NG+). After I truly mastered Bloodborne's combat, I became highly aggressive to the point of recklessness, I became brutal and hardened. That feels like the point when your character becomes blood-drunk and mad. You refuse to leave the game's world and stay in the madness of the hunt and its blood. Absolutely excelent storytelling through gameplay, even though it may or may not be accidental.

    • @SJ-di5zu
      @SJ-di5zu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@crabniacIn Bloodborne, the true bloodlust meta meaning is actually really cool and makes a lot of sense. The entire rally mechanic, which is one of the best mechanics in the game for most people, is centered around bloodlust. Your character gets hit and wants revenge, so if he can hit the enemy back during his blind rage, he will get some health back as he satisfied his bloodlust. Ludwig later mentions that he used the “Rally” (I think it’s called) rune, which made his bloodlust increase because it gives you more time to hit the enemy to get health back. The “Rally” rune ended up being his gateway to becoming a beast because of the increased bloodlust driving him insane.

Spot on, I don't totally agree with your ds2 and elden ring selection but it's pretty much a perfect list otherwise. An unbiased one at that, too, I like it when people prioritize moveset design over aesthetics or coolness factor when it comes to boss/enemy rankings. Keep the good stuff up!
Just for fun, and for the sake of discussion, here's how I'd rank my top 3 enemies from each game (no Demon's Souls, sorry):
    1. Okami warriors (Sekiro) - so much fun, really
    2. Elite ministry guards (Sekiro)
    3. Crucible knights (ER) - they're pretty much ER's take on the og black knights
    4. Old hunters (BB) - simplistic enough, but all 3 variations are great
    5. Giant sharks (BB) - wholeheartedly agreed on them being grossly overhated
    6. Duelists (ER)
    7. White monkeys (Sekiro) - they seem annoying at first but they're actually brilliant
    8. Ringed knights (DS3)
    9. Millwood knights (DS3) - the comparison to Godfrey was great lol
    10. Banished knights (ER) - improved Lothric knights
    11. Silver knights (DS1) - less memorable than black knights but respawning makes them better parry dummies
    12. Frozen rampart golems (DS2)
    13. Darkwraiths (DS1)
    14. Scourge beasts (BB) - perfect introductory enemies
    15. Giant crystal lizards (DS3) - a refreshing idea
    16. Desert sorceresses (DS2)
    17. Anor Londo sentinels (DS1)
    18. Alonne knights (DS2) - at least when they don't gank you
Also shoutout to the chained prisoner from the DS1 dlc. Granted, he's more akin to a miniboss than a regular enemy but he's so easily forgotten

Old hunters are awesome. I forgot about the executioners - both the regular ones from Yharnam and the cthulhu-like ones from the hunter's nightmare are amazing enemies. In fact, I think the latter would blow most of the lower entries from other games out of the water

It really saddens me that majority of players miss the point of that massive gank encounter with the iron warriors in the Iron King DLC. The fight is meant to be a puzzle you're not supposed to brute force. You get to see the room before entering it so you can get the clear picture of what awaits you ahead and you get several explosive gremlins to use for your advantage (a couple of them can easily delete almost all the enemies in the room) as well as the access to the balcony where you can dispose of the bomb throwing soldier and then have a convenient drop at the ash idol.
With patience and strategy, you can win in this encounter without any struggle, but most players seem to have that sick urge to run through everything in a braindead way and then complain that the fights are too difficult and ganky.

    • @magicat7356

Thing is, I know and have always known this, but the little guys are too awkward to herd. They're slow and unresponsive, sometimesnnot reacting and sometimes going the wrong way. Glad to see DS1 and DeS get some recognition, even if they're old. This video was a bit messy of a format, mostly for the conclusion, but it was enjoyable and has potential for more!
I think Sekiro, by its mechanical structure, doesn't belong here, but I agree with your conclusions on that game and the list. Even if I personally believe it has far better enemies than Bloodborne, by a good margin, it is outclassed by DS3 (a bit controversial I know) and specially Elden Ring.

  • @jajasking9652

I agree with quite a bit of this list, i believe fat oficials deserved to be nominated, for me, is an actual decently complex enemies, for demon's souls that is, mele combos and piromancies are not too complex, but it has piromancies and mele combos at the end of the day, which is something is rare to see in a enemy of the older entries
Even the cuthullus jailers in latria 3-1 does what you said abou ambientance even better, and they are not as horrible as people says
For elden ring, i would even want to put the kaiden enemies only encounter in limgrave ( and a random one in consecrated snowfield ) for some reason, what a shame !!! Becauee those chad riding horse can attack you on, well horse, they attack in a really badass way with their fun combos, block with their sword while setting up the beggining of their combos and use war cry to become more ofensive and lastly, red guard ( mostly the gigachad mele guys with their two swords ) are better than the folders
I agree with you that okami warriors are the best group of enemies of the series, and dual greatsword ringed knights should have replaced the halflight church bossfight, becuase they are simply the best individual enemy of the series, and the overall pack barely loses agains okami warriors
Edit: i want to give shootouts to that werewolf with fire attacks in the chalice dungeons ( and one in the base game that does not respawn ) they look great, their moveset is big and is soo fun to parry them, a shame there is not some of them in the base game/DLC

Leonine Misbegottens get destroyed by 2 handed strong attacks from straight swords though, so even on RL1 I don't see their moveset as much. The Duelists really need a buff; they have so little poise and can be backstabbed so again even on RL1 I can nuke the boss variants. I haven't gotten to Snowfield though so maybe those ones work out better.

I would argue Alonne knights are far better than Darkdwellers. Yes, enemy placement sucks, but if you do 1v1, they are easily the most exciting to fight in DS2 and they look so sick
Overall, I think my favourite enemies are ministry warriors, ringed knights and old hunters. Yes, Okami warriors may be more fun to fight, but Ministry warriors are more diverse and there are more of them in the game.
    Demon's souls: Red eye knights
    Dark Souls: Silver knights
    Dark Souls II: alonne knights
    Bloodborne: Old Hunters, pthumerian knights
Dark Souls III: Ringed Knights, pontiff Knights
Sekiro: Ministry warriors, okami warriors, lone shadows
Elden Ring: crucible knights, giants with swords, golems

One thing that I both love and hate about Lothric Knights is how unpredictable they are with their shields. You simply don't know when they will counter attack which makes their fights infinitely more stressful, sometimes they will eat 3 attacks and just look at you, sometimes they'll retaliate after one, and they will shield bash you in the face if you try to flank them.
There is so much versatility in their defense, something that was entirely lost with some later enemies, the most egregious example being Elden Ring's Crucible Knights. These guys are so predictable and mechanical in their movements that they feel like modern DS2 knights rather than enemies from the latest entry. It's especially stupid when they start to turtle and you know that after a single hit they will try to counter via shield bash but it's so slow you can strafe it and get free hits in... sometimes 4 times in a row. The introduction of guard counters in general made the enemies in Elden Ring look less advanced because they just do it whenever they block an attack, there is no unpredictability anymore.
