They probably don’t care much now, but one day, these kids will realize how special this was.

Underrated comment.

Love the innocent reactions from the kids. They are not jaded
Although, you can see the germination of an instinct to look around to see how to react to such a thing.
Little Buddhas, still.
Radiohead will be there for when they are.
I love the innocent reaction from Thom at the end when the kids are clapping
Admiring their psychedelia
I like how the kids aren’t looking until the colorful lights come on, making them very much “Lights for Attracting Attention”
Oh wow. Good observation! 💡

No audience will ever give you a more genuine and honest reaction than a room full of kids. Seems to have gone down well with them (more or less lol). A huge compliment!
3:34 encapsulates all of the kids in one. I have no idea if that kid in the purple sweater is grooving or bored out of his mind. This is such a fun video.
I think kids like it better if it was some drag queen performance
Even if the melody is childish, it’s really hard to follow, specially for a kid. It definitely took them out of their comfort zone. It made them feel like there is more than just what they know. Sone of them were so attentive, or deep in their minds 😊 such a weird and beautiful idea for a video!
Absolutely this.
This... is a music video.
70 years later:
"This is where it all started, son. They're long gone, and I'll join them soon, but they still put a smile on my face. One of the greatest. Promise me you'll take care of your sisters."
Thom Yorke, your voice hasn't changed, most singers lose the high pitches, i am so happy you still got it!
It’s especially impressive in his case, because of his range, how long he’s been touring, and the length of his shows. It would blow my mind listening to Thom sing Nude pitch perfect like 2 hours into a show. One of the most gifted musicians ever.
Children's reaction as well as Thom's smile are wonderful of humanity. So simple. So true.
Nailed it 🤘
Absolutely
I love how the kids reactions range from confused to.. mildly amused to.. bored to.. “I like lights!!” I feel like a lot of other bands would only go for this idea if the kids were somehow forced to look enthusiastic about their music.
But this isn’t just any band.. directed by just any director.
It works for this song which has such a push/pull between catchy and somewhat deliberately flat and tuneless stretches. It’s the Smile’s way of showing “yeah, we know this section is less immediately fun than that section. So what?”
I feel like the overall audience in concerts today behave somewhat like these children. They expect to be excited in every single song, they need shinny things and climaxes to feel something, or they get bored.
Well, they don't have much choice, don't they? They can't just leave if they didn't like it. It's not some kid birthday party, they were forced to be there
it's not bout the reactions. it's bout capturing moment with their friends (as a kid), as time capsule.
Don't bore us
Get to the chorus
Open the floodgates
For a friend of a friend: The Smile is one of the best things to happen to us since Radiohead.
OP, gentle request to *please* enable captions so everyone can fully enjoy it including those who are hearing impaired, have adhd, etc etc

They’re such a great combo, Thom is one of my favorite singers ever and Jonny is just a great composer
Unbelievable. They found a way to keep exploring and surprise after all these years. The whole album is simply fantastic.
They like the bit in the song with the lights.
WE ALL LIKE THE BIT IN THE SONG WITH THE LIGHTS.
Honestly, it's an interesting experiment since the children can't lie. Obviously it's not a music for children, but when the lights turn on, they look happy. Maybe the message here is: "We're all children and we get so excited about superficial things that we don't pay attention to the most important things."
10 years from now these kids are going to realize how mind blowing this day at school was when The Smile played for them.
and two kids will regret picking their noses 😂

@@benmorgan9748I wouldn’t regret picking my nose either, you really got to own that when you get caught lol
...and also that their school photographer was Paul Thomas Anderson.
What's gonna be even more mind blowing is how they took this performance for granted. I don't know if the instructor made them look bored, but I imagine I'd find this sort of music boring at their age, too.

Romans 1:21 - Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Our Life Is Like Unto A Race
1 Corinthians Chapter 9
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Why are rich and famous depressed?
lets list the reasons;
they`re trans, faking life 100% daily
their master is lucifer, the father of lies.
they have no looks, needs to fake these,
they have no talent, needs to fake these.
they are famous only a moment.
they are rich only for moment.
To have the moment on stage, wicked and sick ritual must be performed.
They are masons in masonry.
Nothing`s real, only illusions.
They have it harder , to give their soul over to CHRIST and return back HEAVEN (Luke 18:25 KJV and Mark 10:25 KJV)
true Christians are born again = new creatures in CHRIST, able to no longer sin and able to understand GOD perfectly.
We are to make a conscious choosing between GOD = CHRIST and mammon = lucifer.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
we since birth live in the devils kingdom, this earth here, it shall be created anew, but not yet, still is the church time = still time for souls to get saved and be raptured up. until we come to repentance and born again, we remain living according to the devil.
devils expectations to us are:
lie/deceive kill destroy remain wicked sinner who praise death daily.
because devil is the father of lies:
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
GOD `s expectations to us:
come to repentance
come out from BABYLON
born again
live holy
do the will of your heavenly father.
Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
1 Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

I heard the full album last Tuesday at the Wall Of Eyes On Film-event in Amsterdam and I won't spoil anything, except to say that it was a blissful experience that I enjoyed very very much. Very. This video is a gem btw. And funny! Thom is such a happy camper now. Who would've thought, 25 years ago. Hurray for old age. And psychedelics.
I agree, but I would be careful about giving psychedelics the credit for a growth a person experiences. Psychedelics can help for sure in the right context, but there's also great risks to any mind altering substances. From what I've read in interviews, Radiohead are on record for saying they don't dabble in drugs (aside from the occasional drink and pot). I would credit mindfulness meditation before psychedelics.
All that being said, it's very nice to see Thom has found some peace and appears much more at ease and happy these days.

This video really hit me hard. Children are so impressionable. They are the future. Let’s allow them to blossom in a healthy world. Let’s do our part, our very best to make sure these children have a bright and loving future. To be themselves and accepted fully.
You do your part by living closely with your people, and allowing your children to blossom from that kind of an environment.
The constant search for the self is an abyss. We don’t choose our own names but we recall them with near perfect precision when they are uttered.
You do your part by living closely with your people, and allowing your children to blossom from that kind of an environment.
The constant search for the self is an abyss. We don’t choose our own names but we recall them with near perfect precision when they are uttered.
Sadly, they’re probably all doomed to live in a post apocalyptic hellscape

I can go anywhere that I want
I just got to turn myself inside out and back to front
With cut-out shapes and worn-out spaces
Add some sparkles to create the right effect
And they're all smiling, so I guess I'll stay
At least 'til the disappointed have eaten themselves away
Buried from the waist down
Stop looking over our shoulder
All the window balconies, they seem so flimsy
As our friends step out to talk and wave and catch a piece of sun
I guess I believe in an altered state
Where they leave their windows and their doors open wide
Here, the telephone lines are always busy
Unable to give a reason or a straight answer
Buried from the waist down
Stop looking over our shoulder
We need to get it together
From our window balconies, we take a tumble
As our friends step out to talk and wave and catch a piece of sun
All of that money, where did it go?
Where did it go?
In somebody's pocket, a friend of a friend
All the loose change, loose change

So simple and so beautiful to watch. The idea of including the kids and then capturing their raw reactions is pretty brilliant. I loved it. Paul Thomas Anderson is the master.
When these kids are the age of the band members (and are educated enough to realize what legends these band members are), they'll blow their friends minds when they're like, "Oh Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead and The Smile?
