Hey Chaps - If you're not sold on the Fold 3... what COULD Samsung do to convince you to buy the Fold 4?
Update: I am aware of Labs for aspect ratios, I tried it, but in IG for example it still cuts off stories. So only a partial fix

@@BC-hc5dq because it's cheaper and not everyone uses a tablet therefore the Z fold will never really be a phone for casuals just like tablets and iPads aren't. The o only people I know that use tablets and iPads are little kids, high schoolers trying to stunt on each other and adults that actually find a use for them and likely spend big bucks on laptops as well and the latter two will not continue investing in tablets and iPads after high school therefore the loyal market for iPads and tablets isn't as big as the mainstream market for phones and laptops plus for bulk of those who use iPads they likely only like to use iphones leaving the main z fold buyers tablet users which is a smaller market than the iPad users. No matter have great this phone becomes it will never be a mainstream device no matter how popular it gets. Many people view tablets as a gimmick in general. The Z fold is in the lines of the Microsoft Duo in terms of most people will view it the same way this video does: I rather the slab with the best camera which of course is a very practical take

Having dropped owning a desktop or laptop for a few years now I had a larger screen hole in my tech. Use my fold 3 daily and I couldn't go back to a candy bar phone again tbh. The outer screen is easily usable, even for on screen keyboard, with very few mistakes with typo's. Sure improvements can be made and likely will be with the fold 4 but I felt so staved of anything interesting in form factor for so many years now. The fold is real innovation, and it works well!

  • @marcosv8426
    @marcosv8426 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Personally, I prefer the Z Fold 3 over the S21 Ultra *because* when folded the phone is narrower than the S21 Ultra slab. I have smaller hands and have a greater probability of dropping the S21 Ultra when forced to use it one-handed --- just like I have done with every Note phone I have ever owned. As I get older, I appreciate the larger screen. I also can't handhold the S21 Ultra steady enough to appreciate its telephoto zoom or high pixel standard camera --- without using a tripod or some other external stabilization. I rather switch over to my mirrorless cameras, and so I find the Z Fold 2's cameras to be just fine.
As for the UDC, I guess Samsung should have an option to always have it turned off to avoid complaints that it doesn't hide the punch hole well enough when enabled.
Also, it is interesting to see just how thick the S21 Ultra is compared to an unfolded Z Fold as well as in its folded state. Z Fold balances so well in my hand when unfolded.

If they could just combine the S21 & Z Fold 3 it would make the perfect phone "for now" we still need a smoother non-visible crease. I am referring to making the front of the Z Fold 3 the size of the S21 instead of making the front so narrow.

Currently typing this on my Fold 3. So I have a Note 20 Ultra as my main phone and after using this for a week and going back and forth I do prefer the size of the normal phone screen as he said in the video, the front screen is too small while the tablet is a tablet screen so its not something you'd use all the time. I will stick with my N20U but if the next Fold would get a bigger front screen and got a bit thinner then I would definitely go for it

The only device that might have tempted me away was the flip 3 but I figured it still wasn’t a bigger screen so since Samsung has the great trade-in deals, I went for it. Good little opinion video. Personally, I'm upgrading from N20U to ZF3. I don't use 108MP on the N20U, and while the zoom is pretty nice to have I find I use 4K video recording way more often than actual picture taking. Plus having a bigger canvas for writing notes or doodling sketches. Just have to figure the transportation part. While I don't wear "skinny" jeans, the N20U is pretty bulky right now in my pants. So it will be interesting to see how the ZF3 works.

Great the S21U works for you. 2 caveats worth noting though.. few pay list price for a newly released Samsung phone and very few reviewers are extolling the virtues of the included Dex feature . I got my Fold 3 at the same price I paid for my Note 9 3-years ago in the UK. I've had the Fold 3 for 5 days (for work and leisure) and I can safely say I will not be going backwards to a Note or similarly styled candy bar phone. Foldable tablets are the future for mobile communications IMO and whilst it's not perfect at the moment people like me don't buy these things for the camera performance as few print pictures anymore.

Here in Belgium the Fold 3 is only 1299€ with pen , charger and case included.... so the choice was easy....Biggest reason for me is Desk remote where i can acces my window pc from a distance . And honestly if people find picture quality soooo super important then go buy a real camera.. for on the move experience these camera's are more then 99% of the people will use.

  • @aevorozco

Im still not too keen on the Z Fold 3 especially the camera. The S-pen alone has no place on the phone itself. I spend lots of time taking photos and I would rather wait for the Note 22. Hopefully they launch with a far better camera with better zoom and as always the S-pen tucked neatly in the phone. I don't mind if the phone will be thicker.

I've used mine for 3 weeks now and it is way better than any phone out, and I'm saying this as someone who wasn't going to get a new phone this year. (Was forced to because my phone no longer works on my carrier) He says the thickness is awkward in the pocket I'm just guessing that is for skinny jeans people because for me it being narrow makes me forget it's even in my pocket. And cameras I couldn't tell you it's been 3 weeks and I haven't even opened the camera app yet. It's literally a phone and a tablet for $1800 or you can go buy a phone and a tablet with the same specs for well over $2000 and have to carry 2 devices. To me it's a no brainer get the fold

I've used Fold 2 since late January but when it got water damaged during a flood on a camping a month ago (front screen died and the cameras got foggy) I had to go back to my S20 Ultra. Using the S20 Ultra, I realize how much I've missed the much better cameras (especially the surprisingly useful 4x optical zoom) but at the same time, I keep missing the bigger screen on the Fold 2.
Fortunatly, my insurance company covered the entire repair cost of what would have been £1520 if converted (minus the £100 deducted). Because the cost of repairing the entire thing is so high, I instead opted to upgrade to Fold 3, which at least won't break because of a little water. ^^ Whether or not I'll be using the S Pen and the carry case that's included when pre-ordering, only time will tell.

The fold is polarizing. You either see it and want it more than anything else or you see it and go ‘meh’ like this dude.
The fold is finally something new. Eventually folds will become as boring as every candy bar phone but right now this is the new phone novelty. The next step from the fold is maybe a rolling screen but then having augmented reality glasses as your phone is the next big progression for tech.

They need to solve the crease in the middle. Somehow reduce the weight and factor form further. Improve battery life significantly. Make the screen better resistant to scratches and damage. Then they'll have a real winner in their hands. They're ahead of everyone in this department, so they will eventually do it, but that is maybe still 3+ years away.

For the Fold 3 to be the perfect foldable, It must have flagship cameras, a larger battery, a built-in fold edition pen, and an IP68 rating.
If they increase the width of the outside screen, they will have space for all of that, just like what Huawei did with their Mate X2. With increasing the width, they will also solve the problem of having a too narrow outside screen.
This way, all Note users will be more than happy to make the switch.
The biggest challenges are the dust rating and lowering the price.
