I just got my Samsung Fold 4. I been with iPhone for the past 5+ years. I had a Iphone 13 Pro Max. I didn't even know about the fold 4 until 2 days ago. As soon as I saw this phone I had to try it out. I am a business owner of a financial consulting office. I swear this gave me the same feeling I got when I had the Samsung Note (1-4). This is truly a phone for a business owner or executive. I use apps like outlook, crm, excel, custom business apps at the same time side by side. I like how I can check a report while messaging my assistant about that report on the same screen. At first I thought the screen in the front was a little too narrow however now I think it's perfect. I only use it to take care of simple things like phone calls, calculator, quick text messages, check the weather. Samsung got a winner with this one. Apple needs to start dedicating at least one of their phones to true innovation. I admit that for the past 5 years all iPhone I been practically the same. That's why only change my iPhone twice.
I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I’ve been with iPhone since they came out with the larger device back in 2014. The iPhone 📱 6 Plus. Before that I was a Samsung note user, beginning with the first note and I continue to upgrade until the note 5. I’ve been seeing the Z-fold ever since it came out and I’ve been contemplating trying it out. At the moment they’re on the six series, but I love the reviews and comments that I’ve seen about the Z fold 4. I’ve just ordered one and I’m really excited about trying it out. I’m not going to let go of my iPhone just yet and I may even use both, but I have to say I really am looking forward to seeing what this phone has to offer.
yeah, I'm convinced that those seemingly minor changes are gonna make it perfect.. gonna upgrade from the fold 3 and I think I'll be good with it for a few years
@GH0STST4RSCR34M lol you would just lose the bet and then never pay me.. fold 3 was the first new phone I bought since like 2006.. every other phone I ever got was refurbished.. so now you can pretend like you would have paid when you lost the bet
It's so tempting to have Fold 4 in your grasp as I'm a big fans of big and wide smartphone. This got me in eye and make me do preorder immediately after seeing how it look
I don't know if any one has mentioned this, but the reason I got the Galaxy is because I'm a senior with slowly failing eyesight and the fold out give me the ability to read and play games. My grand daughter has had one for several years. And it has really helped me. I do like all the tips and tricks. Thank you
With the small changes they seem to be making with the fold every year I'll upgrade in 3-4 years time. Its not worth upgrading your phone after every 1 year anyway, waste of money
Disagree entirely. You should consider it: I just upgraded to the Fold 4 from the Fold 3. The deal was too good. Samsung trade-in credit $1000 for my ZF3. Plus the $200 early reservation credit AND automatic $100 256 gb upgrade to 512 GB storage. So that got me a FREE pair Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, S-pen, Case w/ S-pen holder, and additional slim silicone case. And 0% for 24 months if you choose to finance. Would be crazy not to.
@@ModernMan23 Not all countries offer this. And even if I'm to pay just 200 extra dollars to upgrade to the fold 4. I don't see it being worth it. The only real world differences are Possibly better battery Better camera And bigger front display I have no issue with the fold 3s camera at all. I have gotten stunning images out of it. And the front display doesn't bother me at all either. So for me. An upgrade just isn't worth it. Maybe fold 5
My fold2 is still going strong. If I need an upgrade I'll probably save some $$ and get the fold3. I do like the direction they're going though. Looking forward to each model getting better and better.
@@JRBowling1997 yes, I took the outside one off after a year. But the inside one is on. It has bubbled a little at the bottom of the crease but I can't be bothered getting it replaced.
Thanks for the review. Like you, I'm switching from the S22 Ultra to the Fold 4. I went to the S22 Ultra from the Fold 2, so my upgrade to the Fold 4 works for me. I totally understand those folks who currently have the Fold 3 that will want to wait for the 5, since the changes in the 4 are really incremental from the 3.
The new task bar is from Android 12L, not from Samsung. As long as Fold2 and Fold3 continue to receive OS upgrades (which they do), I believe they will get the task bar in an upcoming software update. When Samsung released Fold3 last year, it also brought the new software features to Fold2 pretty quickly.
Exactly this, just been speaking to one of my work reps from Android and Samsung and they just confirmed the fold 2 and 3 will have this in coming months with a update 👍
Actually, one can claim that its from Samsung. Samsung heavily influences Google when it comes to Android with the features it releases. Some even say that Samsung owns half of Google. Evidence of this influence is Samsung having exclusive features beforr Google even releases them to their own Pixel phones.
I just got the pro max 14 after renewing my 3 year contract but I’m really excited to see what 3 years of development will do for these folding phones. I’m definitely going this route when my contract ends.
That wider, centered, and thinner-bezzel front display might actually be the best most noticeable upgrade here, even if its still more narrow than most phones. The Fold 3's front display was kinda silly with how narrow and off-center it is, almost unusable, but the Fold 4 front display looks almost like a normal phone now. I also appreciate the slightly shorter and wider aspect ratio of the main display, less noticeable under display camera, more flagship-level main cameras, supposedly better durability, and hopefully the more efficient processor translates to slightly better battery life. Really was hoping the crease would be all but eliminated like the OPPO Find N or some others have done, probably my only real disappointment here, though some other side by side videos have said it is at least slightly less noticeable now. Small upgrades but upgrades nonetheless.
if you have watched some battery drain videos the z fold 4 outlasts the behemoth s22 ultra and pushes its way to 9hrs 18 min while s22 ultra 8hrs 56 min
The taskbar is very similar to what we have with Dex. I can totally see the appeal of a Fold 4, though. It's mind-boggling how Samsung innovated with it, given Android's limitations on large screens.
@@KellicTiger Yet samsung is one of the only manufacturers that emphasizes it and uses it using Dex, and desktop features. Although android may have the original barebones design, Samsung actually enhances the features and makes the features actually useful, not just easter egg like features that are easily forgotten.
@@KellicTiger and it was designed specifically for Samsung by Google. Samsung had to make a huge commitment to Google with foldables for Google to had make the L version.
I got the fold 3. Loved it at first sight besides not having a sd card or the S pen. The only thing that's stopping me from staying with the fold is that the display screen is starting to peal away right down the middle where the crease is. And I use the phone closed way more then I do open. And I dropped it once, and now I can only unfold the phone maybe like 93%
I agree with you, im on my 2nd fold 3 already cause the same thing happened to me. And I barely use the inner screen right now, so not really worth having the fold currently. Thinking about going to the s22 ultra for now..since my phone provider has a good trade in special for black friday. Then go back to the fold when the 5 comes out..depending how good it is.
Hey Saf , there is more convenient way to use rear cameras as a selfie , If you pressed the selfie word while you are on the cover screen , it will blow your mind .
@@onlinejfkth-cam.com/video/yNuFYhjhanA/w-d-xo.html nah man, that damn pen gets in the way not being flat in the back. I'm a power user and all for the pen but not a fan of this setup like that. I did attached the pen to the back on my Fold 3 in a similar fashion.
I just ordered the fold 4. It's my first fold . I am a note girl but no more notes so I'm excited. I got free ear buds ,a case with pen & a charger block . Traded in my note 20 ultra 5g for $900. I'm gonna miss my note I've had every note. Geesh
If you get this, definitely order straight from Samsung. They offered $700 for my s20+, $300 instant credit(if you bundle the new watch and buds, $200 if you don't), free upgrade to the 512gb plus a free case and s-pen with pre-order. So for $1275 I got the fold 4, watch5, buds2 pro, a case and an s-pen.
As a note user since note 1. I do not miss the note housed pen. The larger full sized pen is much much better. My pen clips on the edge of my fold 3 in its case so it still lays flat
I'd say zfold 4 is a nice upgrade the snapdragon 8+ gen 1 makes it a nice upgrade the processor is well optimized like your getting 15-20% better battery despite battery being the same size, no heating issues and a better gaming experience as well as the camera which is a good upgrade, because of the processor being well optimized your not only getting a smoother and a faster fold but despite the camera being s22/s22+ in many areas does it atleast compete with the s22 ultra if not it even beats the s22 ultra in areas such as 3× zoom being better on zfold 4 than the s22 ultra and a slightly better video recording capability than the s22 ultra and another good upgrade is a wider cover display although I still find it very narrow and wish it was even wider like a 21:9 would be a great upgrade I find the zflip which has a 22:9 pretty narrow but 23.5:9 is still a nice upgrade from a 24.5:9 aspect ratio, hopefully we will see a 5000mAh battery next year and the s23 ultra sensors to make the ultra more ultra rather than less ultra. From the zfold 2 to the zfold 3 the only important thing we gained was durability and water resistant and spen as an extra I use the spen alot but from the marketing point only 5% of the users would even know that the zfold has spen support as it comes seperate if they atleast include it in the box as an external accessory would sell well they should include the Bluetooth spen fold edition in the box and make it the size of the fold edition spen.
Got an open box excellent condition Fold 3 for $1125 at Best Buy, so $675 less than a Fold 4, I would say it’s a way better deal with the minimal improvements
@@moturcu4226 I'm an avid photographer so aside from the mediocre cameras, the experience of having such a large screen for media consumption was amazing. Sadly, i traded it in for the S24 Ultra mainly for the flagship cameras lol
I have the Fold 3 and I'm doing the upgrade. Those trade-in values will get me the new phone new headphones and a new watch for less than $1,000. That's awesome 😎 They're even giving 65 bucks for trading in the fit band 2 from centuries ago, lol.
I just pre-ordered mine tonight. I also have an iphone 13 pro max. decided to sit out on upgrading my iphone this year in favor of going back to two phones. (I'm a real estate agent) I plan on putting this beast to work. Ordered the s-pen & case too. We'll see how well it replaces my m1 ipad pro 12 at work and leisure web browsing, etc. kinda excited, actually!
@@moturcu4226 yes! it isn’t my daily. And unfortunately since losing my job in October it’s going be cut. Team Android though right now? I’d probably go for the s24 ultra or wait for next fold update. It’s almost ready for “everyone”. Almost.
After seeing the taskbar in your video in action, I am pretty sure that it almost works like the existing bottom task bar in Fold 3. You have a Fold 3: in Good Lock's Navstar just activate Show task stack. There is a small difference, but it is basically the same. This means, this feature will definitely make its way also to Fold 3 as a standard feature. Thank you for the video, BTW.
@@nomore-constipation The current side bar can be positioned to the left or right side already: settings - display - edge panel - handle - position - left or right
@arvandvarahram I'm saying why wasn't it an option originally. Seems weird especially when there are other side tool bars people use on Samsung devices
@@nomore-constipation I am a bit confused. Latest since Galaxy S4 (9 years ago) you have been able to position the side bar either on left or right: th-cam.com/video/oczjxh1AOLk/w-d-xo.html
@arvandvarahram I'm saying on the Fold specifically not other Galaxy Series. I'm saying I don't understand with a tool bar that important. Why didn't it get the ability to swap on any side since the beginning. Sorry for the confusion
wow I just had an "aha" moment. I was typing a big comment complaining about how it's only like 0.7" bigger than the other big android phone screens, and it should be like double. Then I took 2x note 10+ phones, put them side by side, and measured the total screen size and it was only like 8.75". I realized that it takes a lot less to make a screen longer than it does to make it longer diagonally. I was really worried because I ordered my first fold phone (z fold 4) earlier today and I was sitting here thinking it's barely going to be bigger than my note 10+ screen. Now I'm realizing that at 7.6" since it's much wider (not just a taller phone like they did back in the day with the iphone 5's or w/e) it's actually going to be a pretty damn big screen. The smaller Ipad's were like 9", and the original ipad mini's were 7.9". So yeah this thing is basically like the older Ipad mini's which is pretty good for something that fits in your pocket. I'm super excited about this phone. Only thing that pisses me off is while I got some insane deals on ATT website, I could have gotten a free $90 case with s pen had I ordered from Samsung. If you order from Samsung through ATT and you have a trade-in, right now you can get $1000 for your trade-in, free upgrade to 512gb storage instead of 256gb, AND the free case with s-pen, $90 value. So I highly recommend that if you're ATT. Similar deals through other providers give you $800 off I think which is also really good. Just make sure you GO THROUGH SAMSUNG WEBSITE to get the case / s pen, unlike me lol. Really wish I had seen that b4 I ordered. I did talk them into giving me $40 off my payoff of my old phone though which was pretty cool.
I think I'll either get a Flip 4 or maybe S22 Plus/Ultra for phone uses, and get a Galaxy Tab Ultra 8 with the s pen for school and work purposes which would compensate for the Galaxy Fold 4
I have an S22 Ultra and the Tab 7FE and it's absolutely perfect. I love the set up. And having my notes from one sync with my other is fantastic. I definitely recommend that set up.
I’m pretty excited for folding phones. I’ll wait till the technology is fully there and prices go down before I pick one up though. Probably in the next few generations
I'm curious about whether the typing experience has improved on the Z Fold 4. I love my Fold 3 but the outer screen is so narrow that it's hard to type on. That alone might be enough for me to upgrade tbh
Same reason I hated my fold 3 by the end. I didn't like using it to message people or type as I either had a cramped outer screen or a wide opened up one which I struggled to get used to typing on. If the typing experience is better I'd be very tempted as well
Learn type with Swype, not tapping is so much easier and one handed . Btw why not just use mic to enter messages so many ppl forget they can talk to their phone
I'm still using my Ultra 21 and said it'll be the last candy bar phone I use. Really interested in the Fold 4, I wish it had a slightly wider cover screen so it's more the size of a normal phone but seems good enough and I don't have huge hands. Also being slightly slimmer makes it easier to hold, the camera changes were definitely needed because it's what kept me from getting the Fold 3. The trade deals are really good which is pushing me to probably make the switch now but I really wanted to see what 1+ and Google did with their foldables to compare. But I also love Sammy software and UI so think the point is mute because I'd probably still choose the Fold 4 even if all 3 we're out at the same time. Google always has good ideas but buggy software but a great camera and I just haven't like a 1+ product since the 8 pro. Also 1+ will probably just bring over the Oppo N with minor changes. The Find X looks great but really big and also the hassle of the Chinese rom. In the end I think I'll end up trading my S10+ to T-Mobile since it's on the $1000 trade in list and keep my Ultra 21 as a backup device.
Did you make the change? I don't think I'm going to get the big phablet of a phone. The ultra 22 with built-in s pen it seems more powerful and big enough a better value for the money for me. I'm not sure yet though.
I wonder if there's something to this idea I just had, but probably not it's probably stupid: what if they just put 1 big screen on one side of the phone (unfolded phone) and had it fold the opposite way, so that the screen is the outside, and when you fold it up you just use half the screen, whichever half is facing upward or w/e. Then instead of putting a 2nd screen on the phone, they could focus on one, and if the 1 main big screen was corner to corner, then when you have the phone folded and use just that half of the screen, it would be like 45% of the full screen, meaning it would be pretty big. I say 45% because you lose the middle part as it would just be a curvey part going around the hinge. This is probably a stupid idea because then your screen would be like your phones shell / outside...there would be no way to protect it. But idk if some day they found a way to make screens insanely strong then this might be a good idea lol.
Also now that I think about it it would probably stretch the middle of the screen out every time you close it and that probably wouldn't be good. Yeah this idea is pretty dumb haha
5:39 I saw people doing this same test when I got my Fold 3 so I had to try it myself but all my lines came out straight. I'm an artist but I can't imagine that would make that much difference here.
I will be getting the Fold 4. I had a Fold 3 and went to the S22 Ultra because of battery life and abysmal cameras. With that said apparently I am just hard on my batteries so I will try the Fold 4 with the better cameras than the 3 and hopefully more optimized battery usage. I did love love the inner screen of the 3. But typing on the outer screen of the 3 made me crazy. We will see. Fingers crossed.
Yeah, I currently have the Fold 3 and am most likely going to the S22 Ultra, and then hopefully will go back when the 5 comes out..depending how much of a upgrade it is. I have barely used the inner screen of my fold plus I am already on my 2nd one. How have you liked the S22U compared to the fold 3? And is the cameras really better and battery life?
i daily a s22 ultra but my backup is an s10+. tmobile is offering $1000 off with the trade in of the s10+. so i get to keep my s22 ultra and see which one i like best. im worried about the battery life because the ultra has a 5000mah with 45w charging and the fold4 has a 4400mah with 25w charging. im also worried about losing the crazy zoom the ultra has. i guess we'll see how they compare in a couple weeks
I still love my Note 20 ultra because I love the memory and the 🖊... I couldn't move myself to purchase the s22! I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a ZFold 4 after viewing your review 🤔 Just wondering if it's actually going to be a upgrade 🤔
When they get these phone a tad wider and thinner I will be all of it. I love the idea. Personally the front screen is still a bit to narrow for my likings. Almost there though.
Even with trading in my S22 Ultra its still $800 steep. On the positive I get the Watch5 Pro for $46 and a free case with S pen. Which in total comes out to $845. Still struggling with the decision though.
For me it was the same. In the end, I couldn't justify paying that much for a meager upgrade. Hoping the Fold 5 is more substantial. If you still on the fence, I wouldn't do it. Nowadays, nothing short of a sure bet would make me spend my money.
Samsung offered $925 for original fold. Bought one one eBay for $390. If you did it thru Samsung n did Orig fold 1st n S22 Ultra 2nd, you get 1625 trade in. I did that n chose Watch 5 Pro n Buds2 Pro which I'll sell bc I don't need it. My net cost after trade in n selling off watch n Buds prob will be sub $400
i kinda wish more reviewers would take contractor in with consideration. As someone who use an iphone and ipad to write up invoices and contracts this is a major game changer. I skipped the previous models until the purchase on the apples product paid themselves.
@@nomore-constipation @NoMore Constipation the great thing about the fold is that you have both a phone and a tablet at the same time. The tablet part of the experience is great when you're settled in but when you're out and about, it's a lot more convenient to just use the front screen. Having a wider front screen allows you to have a more normal smartphone experience, which is lacking in the fold3 as the screen is much too narrow.
@Mansur I get that. I understand, but online thr developers need a standard. I agree it needs to be bigger especially on the outside because typing was a pain (too narrow for keyboard typing) I think Samsung is just trying not to have any bezels which complicates it

Ah well, I use the fold 2 still and honestly, I still don't see any reason to switch even to the fold 4. It even has a bigger battery (4,500mAh), it has louder stereo speakers, I don't care for the S-Pen (barely use the one for my S21 anyway) or splash resistance rating coz mine has got some unintentional splashes and is still great ( I'd never deep the fold 4 in water anyway). Let's see what the fold 5 offers...hehe.
The only thing I dislike about z fold 4 is the inner screen getting bubble and need to be replaced. Next month in October is my 1 year with it and as of this week I had to change film. But other then that is good, oh. They need better phone cases lol
I really enjoyed having the fold 3....and I THOUGHT I would never go back to a slab phone, but 2 things sent me to the s22 ultra. My crease started cracking already after about 6 months. No drops or anything. I contacted T Mobile and they sent me to Assurent.....Assurent sent me back to T mobile. Neither of them wanted to be on the hook for it. So that was a bummer to have a new phone with cracks that were getting worse and no options to fix it. Also the Cameras after coming from the s21 ultra. A great camera is tied for #1 thing I'm looking for on my phone. So I'm back to the slab S22 Ultra, which I'm very happy with. The Fold is worth checking out though I would say. I really did like the experience and form factor.
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 It was, but Assurent said it was a T Mobile issue because it was considered a mechanical issue or something of that sort. And of course T mobile said it was covered by insurance. I went back and for several times before I just threw my hands up on it and traded it in with my JUMP.
@@areacharlottejukebox Ah. Yes, it wouldn't have mattered where you purchased it; it's a manufacturer warranty. I'm surprised neither T-Mobile nor Assuriant directed you to them. Oh well.
I have a simple strategy on buying a new phone; If said company send it out without a charger and says it is due to go green and climate impact, I will not be buying one. When the likes of Apple and Samsung say that but release millions of units of barely upgraded tech, it is clear it is penny pinching so it is a no from me. I'll keep my One Plus 7 Pro until the leap is large enough to justify, and even then I will buy a phone that comes with a charger.
Given the fact that Oppo, Huawei and Vivo have managed to eliminate the crease, I argue that it IS a big deal. With no real android competition in the U.S., Samsung has become apathetic when it comes to innovation. Everyone rants and raves about these products that, in reality, are not different from their predecessors. Apple and Google follow suit.
I have the Fold 3 and I agree the updates are incremental, but the deals are phenomenal. Couldn't help myself but to preorder. Got myself a new phone, watch, twice the storage, case and s-pen for under $800.
@@goldensilverstar By trading in my Fold 3. They're giving hella good trade in deals. Gave me $1000 for my Fold 3 and I think $65 for my Watch 4. All the extras I got were free because I pre-ordered.
How has your fold 3 held up? I'm wanting to upgrade from my S21 Ultra, but torn between the S22 Ultra and the fold 4. I really want to get the fold but worried about the constant opening and closing wearing out the screen.
@@codynator15 I would go with the fold especially if you live in Europe because exynos is absolute shit compared to Snapdragon. I’m currently an iPhone user. I’m still using my 12 Pro Max because I always keep my phones in great condition and I don’t see the need to upgrade when the phones still look the same and as soon as they send out the software upgrade of the new series, you’ve basically got a brand new phone. At one point, I was a Samsung note girl. For the first series all the way up to number five and then I switched to iPhone when they came out with the larger device in 2014. I’ve been eyeing this phone since it first came out with the series one and the more I’ve thought about it, I’m finally convinced to try it out, so as of yesterday I finally ordered it and I ordered the Z fold 4 instead of purchasing the current series, which is the 6. I’m really excited about using this gadget, which seems to be a masterpiece.
Just got all the features on my Z Fold 3 via update 😉 Same thing last year; I got the Z Fold 3 features on my Z Fold 2. Gotta hand it to Samsung for doing this. Shows respect to the customer. No need to go to the 4 this year for me. Changes are far less than going from Fold 1 to the 2 or from Fold 2 to the 3.
No built in s-pen, no go for me jack. I will wait for the S23 Ultra to upgrade. And 50mp camera is the best they could do when the S22 Ultra has a 108mp phone? Sorry but these foldable phones are still far behind the Note Series (S Ultra Series now), in terms of updated technology. It’s as if Samsung is deliberately going against what the consumers are begging for. I’d easily have gotten this phone if it had the 108mp camera and the built in s-pen.
Only problem with changing phone/screen size between folds is app ratio format. So many I’ve had to customise individually to display on fold 3 properly.
@@justabruin I heard that the fold 3 is only getting updates for the next year, maybe 2 while the fold 4 is guaranteed for updates for the next 5 years so that's also a big reason why you might have no choice but to switch over
I disagree on Samsung bringing some of the Fold 4 software features to the Fold 3 (ie the taskbar). Samsung has gotten pretty good at brining features to the phones that can handle them. Besides, the Fold 3 already can put a Taskbar on the right hand side of the screen, and either keep it on the screen or auto hide it.
I have an iphone 12 pro max.. really confused Should I wait for iphone 14 series or go with Fold 4? I am really inclined towards fold 4 though Any suggestions?
Same. The iphone 15 is rumored to switch to usb-c, among other updates. Since I’ve had the 12, just haven’t felt like I’m getting my money’s worth with this phone. A fingerprint sensor is something my current phone misses badly. Inconsistent facial recognition for what you’re paying for can be frustrating
Switched from iPhone, I was nervous because I've been with apple for sooo many years!! The switch was well worth it . I love it! Excited to see what's next
Hoped they would improve the crease. Seems like a very modest incremental improvement release. Feels like Samsung made the bare minimum amount improvements without people saying it's the same phone.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M If you think I'm alone go search online. Maybe stop being a troll and tool. If you own a foldable then you should know this isn't an isolated issue. Samsung is not giving you a screen easily. People have shows they use close up photos and won't cover the repairs
Why should we have to wait for your full review to hear about the battery? One of the most important pieces of info about buying a phone. I can tell within a day or two how the battery performs. But hey guys, down in the description is a link to order.. Thanks for the info..🙄
I have the Fold 3 and agree - based on this review there's very little reason to upgrade. A few improvements but I'm super happy with my 3 and not sure I'd really notice if I upgraded!
I was thinking about the 3...Do they have any type of case😂 probably a stupid question on a fold phone but can we admit that phones have came a long way and its awsome
Ya I'm not upgrading they need add spen support front screen and really really improve inside screen I just used my manufacturers warranty get them replace the glass on my zfold3 cost exactly 0 thx samsung but it was not painless I had to bitch a bunch to better business bureau lol they then called treating me with kid gloves loved it
I don't feel bad for being impatient and buying a fold 3 earlier this year after seeing this. The fold 4 looks pretty much the same and I don't really use the cameras that often and don't really need the faster processor either.
you have to bite the bullet at one point or another. do it once. pay full price for a flagship. then trade it in the next year for the next flagship. rinse and repeat. You end up spending the same amount of money than someone who buys new every 3 to 5 years because that person is paying full price every time (trade in worthless for older phones). funny to me how it's 2022 and I still hear the same argument about how expensive phones are. the only caveat to this is, you have to be willing to buy unlocked phones directly from manufacturers. do NOT by any means lock yourself into a contract for a discount on a new phone. because then my plan does not work. be a discerning consumer. good luck.
I’m actually switching from a iPhone 13 Pro Max. I still love and use my iPad and Mac and iMac but I do think this is the year where folding phones are going to really take off. I’m glad the Zfold 4 is so promising.
I ordered one, but I still have a few questions. I've heard the fold 4 outer screen is only 3mm wider. Does it really make that much of a difference? I noticed that you were using the icon navigation and not gesture navigation. Does the taskbar thing still work when you are using gesture navigation?
@@cs-ge5kx Not really, I did the same. It's not a mistake if you are making the decision informed... I know my S22 Ultra is a better phone specs wise, it's also beautiful and frankly I love it! That being said, the deals for the Fold 4 were just to good to pass up and I've been wanting to try it since the 1st one came out... Upgrading to the 512Gig Fold 4 only cost me $960 in total, not $1800. They gave me $1000 for my S22 Ultra, 256 Gig, even though I only spent $800 on it, (because I also got a bunch of deals on my S22 by pre-ordering)... Plus they included a case, and a pen totally for free... Then they also gave me $200 in credit, which you can use to buy anything on the Samsung website... I used it to buy a bundle deal for a bundle which incleded brand new buds and the new galaxy watch... The buds and watch independently cost $200 and $400 respectively. But if you buy the bundle with a pre-order, they cost like $260 together... After using the $200 credit, I got all that (case, pen, buds, watch) for basically $60 extra. $960 in total for the phone also... I've been thinking about getting a Fold for years now and if I hate it no biggie, I'll just trade it in when the S23 Ultra comes out... Finally though, it's not a mistake to take advantage of the crazy pre-order deals if your a tech enthusiest who isn't too strapped for cash.
Ty for the link. I was trying to order last night with the shop samsung app and it was giving me issues. So I used my computer but it wasn't giving me the 200 credit. I placed the order anyway but I canceled after seeing your link working. I reordered and got what I wanted.
I think that a 21:9 front display is what is needed. I hoped this year they would bring the SD card slot and headphone jack back to the foldables since they are for the powerusers, it is unfortunate since the lack of those especially the lack of SD card slot is what prevents me from getting the Fold 4 to replace my S10+
They are not going to add 3.5 jack or microSD back. My suggestion is use a USB drive with the OTG device. It gives you the ability of offloading. I would like to have SD support too but you know why they are doing it. I just hope they don't completely remove the USB C port. I cannot stand wireless charging all the time
The SD card slot and head phone jack are never coming back 🤦♂️...you can choose a 1tb model and the bluetooth earphones are much better...move on with new technology 🤷♂️
@GH0STST4RSCR34M Actually I'm not. Especially when everyone is moving to cloud based storage. I myself would like the SD back but in all reality, I think it isn't. Especially since these companies want more money from their customers. So I have 3 separate 2TB storages and with quick OTG I should be good for awhile
Will this make having a case on the front harder? There is no bezel to have a strip of adhesive in order to hold the front part of the case on, it would slip and slide without any adhesive.
I just pre ordered. I traded in my s20+ for 700. Got the 512gb model with a free case and s pen free galaxy watch and 120$ off the phone. Crazy good pre order deals

I'm a little torn about the aspect ratio of the inner screen, though if you turn it sideways does it change to show more screen in traditional media? I also worry since I hold onto phones for like 4 to 5 years and I worry about how the screen will hold up.

That's why only change my iPhone twice.
thats the comment i was looking for. i am business owner and have add. i was wondering between z fold 3 or ultra 22. i will get the z fold 3.thnks
Thanks, that was very helpful. I am sold. Need a nice big screen for Teams meetings.
Ngl the thinner outer bezels and slighter shorter aspect ratio really makes a huge difference 👍🏾
yeah, I'm convinced that those seemingly minor changes are gonna make it perfect.. gonna upgrade from the fold 3 and I think I'll be good with it for a few years
@GH0STST4RSCR34M lol you would just lose the bet and then never pay me.. fold 3 was the first new phone I bought since like 2006.. every other phone I ever got was refurbished.. so now you can pretend like you would have paid when you lost the bet
Check out the Xiaomi fold 2 though.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M yeah let's hope the fold isn't so garbage that I need to downgrade after a while
I wanted it to be bigger, slimmer, with less bezel, no camera bump, I like big big screens
Thank you
If you have a fold 3 like I do. Don't upgrade. Wait for fold 5. The improvements don't justify the upgrade cost.
Agreed and I upgrade every year lol
With the small changes they seem to be making with the fold every year I'll upgrade in 3-4 years time. Its not worth upgrading your phone after every 1 year anyway, waste of money
Disagree entirely. You should consider it:
I just upgraded to the Fold 4 from the Fold 3.
The only real world differences are
Possibly better battery
Better camera
And bigger front display
I have no issue with the fold 3s camera at all. I have gotten stunning images out of it. And the front display doesn't bother me at all either.
So for me. An upgrade just isn't worth it. Maybe fold 5
Nah bro I see a teeny Crack forming on my inside display along the hinge. Time to upgrade
I would have liked to seen, a wider front screen, fast charger and a decent protective case , included for that eye watering price.
My fold2 is still going strong. If I need an upgrade I'll probably save some $$ and get the fold3. I do like the direction they're going though. Looking forward to each model getting better and better.

@@JRBowling1997 yes, I took the outside one off after a year.

What's Android 12L?
@@gigahertzmedia It's a version of Android specifically built for larger devices like tablets, or in this case the Fold
Actually, one can claim that its from Samsung. Samsung heavily influences Google when it comes to Android with the features it releases. Some even say that Samsung owns half of Google.

The taskbar is very similar to what we have with Dex. I can totally see the appeal of a Fold 4, though. It's mind-boggling how Samsung innovated with it, given Android's limitations on large screens.
They didn't innovate anything. That bar is part of Android 12L that was designed for large screens. It's part of the OS.

From the zfold 2 to the zfold 3 the only important thing we gained was durability and water resistant and spen as an extra I use the spen alot but from the marketing point only 5% of the users would even know that the zfold has spen support as it comes seperate if they atleast include it in the box as an external accessory would sell well they should include the Bluetooth spen fold edition in the box and make it the size of the fold edition spen.

wow I just had an "aha" moment.
Smart idea!

I think the Google foldable is still quite a way off.
I just left my S21 for the Fold 4. I'll never go back, the versatility can't be beat.

I couldn't move myself to purchase the s22!
I'm seriously thinking about purchasing a ZFold 4 after viewing your review 🤔
Just wondering if it's actually going to be a upgrade 🤔
There are websites that will let you compare the two side by side and it will give you a percentage as to which category is better in each phone.

Did u switch? How is it? I'm thinking of getting it but love my note 20 too😢
Thanks for all the updates on phones! Love the channel!
does the ultrawide lens have autofocus here?
I'm upgrading from f2 to this. Then to a f6...hopefully by then, no crease, dust resistant, and spen slot. Lol
How's the durability been? Any issues?
When they get these phone a tad wider and thinner I will be all of it. I love the idea. Personally the front screen is still a bit to narrow for my likings. Almost there though.
Here in Oz Samsung are also giving away their latest watch free with the Fold 4, that's an $880 watch here so an amazing deal
I've the fold. 3. See no reason to. Splash out. Hopefully fold 5 has a front digitizer. Looking forward to the new software features for the 3
Same here. Especially with the lousy trade in offers in the UK.
Who tf changes fon every year bruhh 🤣🤣
same here, just paid 975$CAD for my Fold 3 on Marketplace
Even with trading in my S22 Ultra its still $800 steep. On the positive I get the Watch5 Pro for $46 and a free case with S pen. Which in total comes out to $845. Still struggling with the decision though.
How did you get the watch5 pro for that price?
honestly, dont do it man
you could buy a decent tablet for 800 dollars and keep your badass phone
For me it was the same. In the end, I couldn't justify paying that much for a meager upgrade. Hoping the Fold 5 is more substantial. If you still on the fence, I wouldn't do it. Nowadays, nothing short of a sure bet would make me spend my money.
people wear a screen on their wrist as well 🤦♂ get a Tudor or a Omega or something.
Samsung offered $925
for original fold. Bought
one one eBay for $390.
If you did it thru Samsung
n did Orig fold 1st n S22 Ultra
2nd, you get 1625 trade
in. I did that n chose Watch
5 Pro n Buds2 Pro which
I'll sell bc I don't need it.
My net cost after trade

$400
Sigh...the lack of series competition in the Folding space globally has resulted in just a minor upgrade. Sad
i kinda wish more reviewers would take contractor in with consideration. As someone who use an iphone and ipad to write up invoices and contracts this is a major game changer. I skipped the previous models until the purchase on the apples product paid themselves.
What switching means for normal people: 2 years with the same phone.
What switching means for a youtuber: 2 weeks with the same phone 🤣
What switching means for people who don't have endless money:5 years with the same phone.
What switching means for TH-camr : More money because people click "why I'm switching" and "why I was WRONG" videos
If they're going to charge flagship prices they should include camera with "Ultra" caliber. A few ml of thickness is not going to kill anyone.
Close but not close enough. As a fold 3 owner, I'm waiting for an even wider front screen.
Isn't everyone who is doing foldables going to the 9:21 aspect ratio? The apps all need to be set up to a standard. Otherwise you get thicc bezels
I agree it needs to be bigger especially on the outside because typing was a pain (too narrow for keyboard typing)
I think Samsung is just trying not to have any bezels which complicates it
I've pre-ordered mine in Grey Green. Really excited. They are throwing in a watch 5. Never tried a smart watch before but I guess there's no reason not to give it a go now. 👍 Love your videos.
How did you get the watch? What phone provider
@@cornbread2418 Sorry should have mentioned I live in Australia. One of our providers Telstra has this deal.
@@random-vl1li Pretty awsome how the internet let's me talk to someone that far away👍 I have T mobile here..They would never offer a watch those mfs would probably raise my bill just to do it
To the moon.
Great phone has high end spec.
I'm definitely switch to this phone this month
It wasn't covered under warranty?
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 It was, but Assurent said it was a T Mobile issue because it was considered a mechanical issue or something of that sort. And of course T mobile said it was covered by insurance. I went back and for several times before I just threw my hands up on it and traded it in with my JUMP.
@@areacharlottejukebox I meant Samsung warranty?
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 I didn't think about going to them, since I got it from T Mobile and not directly from Sammy
Those chinese brands are nice Ive used A handful~ the Y Are not durable or reliable whatsoever
I never notice the crease and it doesn't bother my drawing
I have the Fold 3 and I agree the updates are incremental, but the deals are phenomenal. Couldn't help myself but to preorder. Got myself a new phone, watch, twice the storage, case and s-pen for under $800.
800? How?
@@goldensilverstar By trading in my Fold 3. They're giving hella good trade in deals. Gave me $1000 for my Fold 3 and I think $65 for my Watch 4. All the extras I got were free because I pre-ordered.
How has your fold 3 held up? I'm wanting to upgrade from my S21 Ultra, but torn between the S22 Ultra and the fold 4. I really want to get the fold but worried about the constant opening and closing wearing out the screen.
@@codynator15 tbh, I'd go for the fold. Mine has held up quite well for me rocking it caseless. Coworker even dropped it in marinara too🤣
@@codynator15 I would go with the fold especially if you live in Europe because exynos is absolute shit compared to Snapdragon. Plus the camera are decent but sometimes I feel like they could do better. Obviously the screen and design are excellent however it's processing power is rubbish compared with the Snapdragon version
Just got all the features on my Z Fold 3 via update 😉
Same thing last year; I got the Z Fold 3 features on my Z Fold 2.
They're doing a promotion in the UK ATM where you get the spen and spen case free when you buy the phone from them
Yeah I'm sticking to my fold 3 it's exactly the same! Minus a few tiny things lol excellent side by side comparison
A definite switch for me!
Ummmm im getting a fold 4 bro! U will be missing some of the improvements and besides your phone is older😂..
@@RandzWRX oh no the phone is 1 year old! Tragedy! ,🙄
@@justabruin I heard that the fold 3 is only getting updates for the next year, maybe 2 while the fold 4 is guaranteed for updates for the next 5 years so that's also a big reason why you might have no choice but to switch over
People that buy the fold 4 will obviously want to justify why they bought it and yes it maybe slightly better but it is basically the same phone lol.
I have fold 3 but I don't think im guna upgrade due to not enuf fire-power from fold 4 ,what do u guys think ,,?
It's a shame there's no real discounts or deals for the folks in the UK or Europe.
They were out of the burgundy in the 1TB size when I ordered. I'm upgrading from my fold 3 because of the larger capacity and better cameras.
Where did you find the burgundy one?
Great video! Got mine preordered! So excited
I have an iphone 12 pro max.. really confused Should I wait for iphone 14 series or go with Fold 4?
I am really inclined towards fold 4 though
Any suggestions?
I’ve been an iPhone user since launch. I’ve really considered swapping but the only thing I’m not ready to give up is iMessage and FaceTime!

Hoped they would improve the crease. Seems like a very modest incremental improvement release.
Feels like Samsung made the bare minimum amount improvements without people saying it's the same phone.
I'd rather see them fix durability. The screen protector on the 3 peeled for no reason. And if you used a 3rd party one it damaged the screen.

Ya I'm not upgrading they need add spen support front screen and really really improve inside screen I just used my manufacturers warranty get them replace the glass on my zfold3 cost exactly 0 thx samsung but it was not painless I had to bitch a bunch to better business bureau lol they then called treating me with kid gloves loved it
Use Goodlock, and you'll have apps on the task bar empty space on left
I don't feel bad for being impatient and buying a fold 3 earlier this year after seeing this. The fold 4 looks pretty much the same and I don't really use the cameras that often and don't really need the faster processor either.
Not a lot of difference from Fold 3. I'd wait for next time at such expense.
you have to bite the bullet at one point or another. do it once. pay full price for a flagship. then trade it in the next year for the next flagship. rinse and repeat.
Just received mine. Outerscreen deffo makes a difference

U made a mistake I would keep my s22 ultra it better then the fold 4 u will see
@@cs-ge5kx Not really, I did the same.

Best multi tasking smartphone on the market, yes I agree 100%.
The spraying water scene at 02:58 killed me 🤣
I think that a 21:9 front display is what is needed. I hoped this year they would bring the SD card slot and headphone jack back to the foldables since they are for the powerusers, it is unfortunate since the lack of those especially the lack of SD card slot is what prevents me from getting the Fold 4 to replace my S10+
then you will be stuck with your S10+ because they're not coming back,
They are not going to add 3.5 jack or microSD back.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M Never said I missed the point. But sure
Will this make having a case on the front harder? There is no bezel to have a strip of adhesive in order to hold the front part of the case on, it would slip and slide without any adhesive.
If you have a fold 3 why would you upgrade to a 4? Smh... People really don't know what to do with money.
