Weird how zombies charge at you in a passive-aggressive way. Best way to describe it is when you gotta pee but it's not that urgent so you do a slow jog.
Game is very much not dead, they are not having enough servers, cearly ppl don't really see what this game is, a very solid game, yes it sucks it's on epic store true, but in the end steam is so lazy they need to do something.
If you want more challenge higher the difficulty, this is for newbies, find a group on chat apps, and maybe go for something more exciting. This is a b.s. review if you complain about it being to easy, while you are on the easy/normal difficulty.

You're assuming that there's no other possible way to inform yourself about a game before buying it other than Steam reviews. You also have the 2h refund period, which can be viewed as a demo to try the game. I'm starting to think that Epic is purposely avoiding to implement reviews on their store due to hateful and petty people who would review bomb everything simply because it's on Epic.

They aren't going to go to a different site, make an account and then write a review for a game. 2. 2H refund periods generally aren't long enough to judge a lot of games. Don't get me wrong. You still get some sense of the game but most people would scream at me that if I only played a game for 2h, I didn't give the game a "chance". 3. There are still 0 review bombs for games on Epic. There are however review bombs for games that go Epic exclusive. The only notable one being Borderlands but I'll leave the plural just in case. Finally my own thoughts... You do realize that review bombs do very little? People easily ignored them before steam stepped in and soft censored them. You could still quite literally read around the review bomb and look at the other reviews. The majority of people who did care are hurt fan boys of the game/franchise and game companies cuz they spend money on PR and would much rather any criticism gets hidden. @@AeBDK Is it true you NEED to download Fortnite if you want to use Epic Games Store. Thats what I heard so I haven't even attempted to download it. Plus it is a reason not to buy. A lot of these stores are clunky and not as polished as steam. There's often server issues and it's just a pain to have to make a whole new account just to play a game. I could just about deal with Origin and Steam because I only ever bough Battlefield games on Origin so it wasn't a massive issue. But when games like Metro, Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3 are all exclusive to the Epic Games store, you end up having to download software you don't want, making an account, it's just a hassle. It's like on console you have exclusives so you need to change console if you want to play certain games and it's a hassle because you want all your games in one easy to use place. But you don't get that with all these game stores. Now we have Steam, Origin, Uplay, Epic Games, GOG, Bethesda Games Store, Battlenet. Now you have all this other software that you might have only downloaded for one or two games and need to make accounts on all of these and it's just a pain in the arse. We just want them all on Steam, it's all in one place and it's easier, Plus steam is more reliable than all those other stores. Especially the Epic Games store. It was caught accessing personal files, It locked a bunch of users out for no reason, Yeah no thanks I don't want to use that.
Dying light 2 is the main zombie game in the near future.. I just hope there ain't no grappling hook in the game because that ruined dying light 1 for me.

That doesn't happen a lot and not only that he was playing in a laggy server. If you notice all the stutters and weird ai happen when he lags, if you look up at the top right a connect symbol in red pops up letting you know when you're lagging. It's really not as bad as he says it is. He has a few points but a lot of it is in my opinion is hatred for some reason.
Not as good though, by the looks of it. I think Space Marine has dated (played it a few weeks ago in co-op), but essentially, it's a similar game - but... SM has far more character imo & the campaign is still excellent.
I saw the trailers and I thought, man this gonna be wank. Low and behold, my powers of seeing future are spot on. Thanks Mack for showing some wankplay.

@@nezo1813 I actually got it and it's much better, this actually fills a hole that starship troopers left, and the maps, characters etc are really well done and fit within the WWZ universe. The only issue is that it's too short and a lot of people like the monster characters from L4D but this game has more realistic monsters and less comic book. weapons are all awesome and powerful as well. I recommend the game hands down I play it and have a blast each time.
Well, to me, the gameplay looks amazing. However, it needs a single player like L4D 1&2. Because I don't play well with randos. Anyway, I don't mind the fact that it's on Epic. I own a few games on it already, including Metro Exodus. I'm not loyal or bias to any platform. I go where the games I want to play are. But, this game, will not be on my Epic acct unless they put in a solo mode like is in L4D 1&2. Anyway, great vid as always.

9:04 so true, moments like these are probably the only good thing this game has to show, its like when you watch a good enough trailer for a movie, and you decide its good enough and you end up watching the most boring movie ever. When I saw the horde forming pyramids, I thought, "Oh, man, it must feel so awesome to toss a grenade right in the middle and see the avalanche of bodies!" Then, I saw that grenades exploded with the bang of a small water balloon, and saw one or two zombies stagger over. That's a dealbreaker on its own, but worse yet, even the CHARACTERS sound disappointed and bored.

You're right about the reviewers getting excited over all the hordes pouring in etc but then it becomes rinse and repeat. Bought it after watching a couple of reviews and quickly found out how shallow and scripted it was, getting a refund.
I feel like ppl are so critical of this game because they expect AAA quality or something. It’s not a AAA game. Not at all. But it does what it needs to do and (in my opinion at least) it does it very well. Also, how many levels did left 4 dead have on release? Lol doesn’t left 4 dead have a very similar formula? I can’t say for sure but based on what I’m hearing they’re pretty similar in that aspect. This seems like left 4 dead on a whole new level. The only reason I see left 4 dead get so much coverage is the mods. When you look at the base game, I can’t say for sure how it is but I feel like, in terms of the base game itself, this one may beat it in that aspect. But the moment this gets mods, I feel like it’ll blow left 4 dead away. Imagine, a bunch of teletubbies making a human pyramid to climb to kill you. That would be amazing.

As the movie did the book no justice, the only thing that this game has in common is the title. One of the major (if not THEE) points is to keep quiet or you risk attracting the horde. Also the blood... it gets all over the players/AI and apparently that doesn't really matter here. Seeing the big guy in the bomb suite only seemingly have 1 attack repeat got old within the 10 minutes I observed. Finally, I dislike the zombies disappearing so quickly I feel looses the immersion. Keep up the great work in telling it how it is.
Having this in third person was the dumbest idea since the m700 nerf. You have to move your camera around so the horrible character models dont get in the way from the cool horde set pieces.
I'm in Australia, and have had 1 crash out of multiple games. I've also noticed I've been joining games much quicker than at the start. I'm enjoying it for what it is. I do think their improving. On PS4.

Playing online with 3 random companions or with 3 bots is definitely boring. I can imagine that playing with 3 actual friends with whom you can communicate on hard or very hard mode could be way more fun. Still, from what i see, this game is only average.
Are you playing on vulkan @worthabuy? I tried when i played with my friend he has an amd gpu i have an rtx 2060 he didnt have an issues but mine froze just like yours i had to switch to dx11 for it to go away.
He was freezing because of the bad server lag. Every time he froze for a second you can see the red connection bar show up at the top right. The game was also region locked at the time of his recording so that's why he didn't find games fast, they've since fixed that.
Hey Mack, hope you are well. Please have a look at Kenshi - its a bit like rimworld but 3rd with less of psychology and more of pure sandbox and RPG. Graphics, as you tend to say, look like pigsvomit but I think you'll love it knowing the kind of humor you're in to and you appreciate a brutal but rewarding game.
Game is okay if everything is scarce, and add more zombie variety like some believable zombies from Left 4 Dead. If they would make this game work. Make everything scarce, because in reality, they can't have that many weapons and ammo and nades.
I showed my friend your previous video and he said you can say the same thing about Vermintide 2 and Left 4 Dead. However, both those games have so much replayability and their fantastic. But, I would like to know how you or the community would define 'what makes them so good' in comparison with WWZ.
L4D adds that sense of panic. A boomer explodes on ur team then a hunter, smoker, charge, etc... Everyone cant see n ur being swarmed by zombies while ur trying to find ur downed friend. Levels where u have to race to the safe room while being swarmed by endless zombies till u get in the room. Insta kill spots being charge or pulled off. Spot that u will fall n hang on the ledge till someone comes a picks u up, but also puts u in danger while rescuing. Tank zombie in the middle of a horde with other specials attacking. Not being able to see where specials r, just hear them n know that they are lurking for the right moment to jump. Witchs that will down u in 1 hit. Night time lvls, are u afraid of the dark feeling. Intelligent AI specials does add alot of enjoyment. L4D is alittle more of an arcade feeling game, it doesnt takes its self to seriously with the specials and run and gun WWZ is alittle more grounded in reality based on the books n movie. I have to admit i wish L4D had hordes like this, it would have made it alot more enjoyable. Not to say it wasnt, i have no clue how many hrs i played on xbox, but i played for probably a yr straight everynight with buddys for 4 or 5 hrs. If they increase the specials IQ's in WWZ n took a few pointers from L4D on lvl design i would increase the replay ability. I think they over estimated the massive hordes to be able to add that sense of fear that L4D did with eveything i said above.
Yeah only issue i have with the game at the moment is not enough variety in the missions themselves and how many missions there are in general. If they support it with free post launch content that would be a good start well have to see though either way it was 30 bucks and the tech in the game is impressive for the hordes but yeah i agree left 4 dead is superior because of many things. Modding is the biggest obviously but it has a decent amount of levels to go through as well.
Why is it in Zombie games you can get bitten more than a slut with love bites and only lose a tiny bit of health. Why not a zombie game where you get 1 hit killed by zombies so every encounter with one would be terrifying and you can only save at safe houses that are spread far and few between an open world map? YOU know how massive the scale of past greats videogames were. 64v64, Quake, WoW, CnC, GW1, Morrowind, L4D, StarSiege, Tribes, BF1942, MoHAA, MechWarrior, Elite... YOU HAVE TO become a developer. No matter how small the dev team you attract. Gamers make games. Videogames will die without us and new ideas. Minecraft was made by a gamer, and cloned spinoffs were the result. With the people that trust you, together, something small can be coded. You saw Anthem Mack! No direction for years! You can churn out the best small game in years, in 1 year possibly just by directing loyal programmers for 4-6 and it'll be foundational for what REAL games should be like after that. Hey, let me give another suggestion cause I can't keep ideas bottled up... make a space-themed Morrowind. Morrowind was huge with 13 factions: 3 houses, 3 vampire clans, 3 basic guilds(fighter, mage, thief), 1 secret assassin guild(morag tong), and 3 others... some with their unique sets of armour and faction relationship stats. House Telvanni hated every faction, but REALLY hostile towards the Mage's guild because Telvanni's are secluded wizards that horde magic artifacts in their giant-rooted, plant islands in the NW part of the map. The Mage's Guild was liberal with magic and shared it with everyone. Not the Telvannis. YOU had to water walk to find them, LEVITATE to their chambers in the plant buildings to ASK TO JOIN, and still needed a MAGIC-ONLY skillset to rank up! Multiple playthroughs/characters are necessary for anyone to thrive in Morrowind cause 13 factions made Morrowind so unbelievably alive. NOW PICTURE THAT but with a Solar System. Flying from planet to planet, joining a space war in 1st-person, and doing grounded missions. I know what I'm suggesting: 4-6 smaller Morrowind sized spherical planet-wide maps, no map-shrinking sprint ability, more npcs and questlines, and spaceport garages. It's NoMan'sSkies but with Morrowind RPG scaling. Doesn't that sound great? That sounds like do-able roadmap for a new game that MUST be made to bring hope back to us gamers. Only we can design something that marvelous. I trust you Mack, with directing that, NOT programming it, but you are essentially an ideal candidate to be a game's Project Lead one day. Check Halo 2's In the making video, you'll see how they DELETED their engine and still had a vision to make Halo 2 A HIT. Think your biggest problem is that this is a console developed game ported to pc and it feels wrong for you. Add on the matchmaking and epic store pulls the nails in the coffin. Surely there is a discord or looking for game option so you can chat to your teammates?
I gotta say the gun animations look great the the way the mob of zombies form that mound is also cool, but the game around it seems pretty meh. Which is unfortunate.

I believe we have similar taste, perhaps we differ in some areas, but overall I believe we have very similar thoughts around games, and thats why your reviews almost always hits right on. There are two reviewers I follow specifically. You and one other. You didn't like the game, the other did. Two reviewers that typically have similar opinions on games, have very contrasting views on this one. I trust your perspectives because I'm confident that you guys will be honest in the games you review, whether it's good or bad. When You used the machete melee attack I just realized this looks a lot like Space Marine. Especially the melee moves.
Not as good though, by the looks of it.
I think Space Marine has dated (played it a few weeks ago in co-op), but essentially, it's a similar game - but... SM has far more character imo & the campaign is still excellent.

@@lilmovieperp3599 Left 4 Dead is still very accessible, you can play it on PC as well as being able to play it on Xbox One and it's still very popular. You might as well just play Left 4 Dead if you want this kind of game.

@@nezo1813 I actually got it and it's much better, this actually fills a hole that starship troopers left, and the maps, characters etc are really well done and fit within the WWZ universe. The only issue is that it's too short and a lot of people like the monster characters from L4D but this game has more realistic monsters and less comic book. weapons are all awesome and powerful as well. I recommend the game hands down I play it and have a blast each time.

Well, to me, the gameplay looks amazing. However, it needs a single player like L4D 1&2. Because I don't play well with randos. Anyway, I don't mind the fact that it's on Epic. I own a few games on it already, including Metro Exodus. I'm not loyal or bias to any platform. I go where the games I want to play are. But, this game, will not be on my Epic acct unless they put in a solo mode like is in L4D 1&2.

9:04 so true, moments like these are probably the only good thing this game has to show, its like when you watch a good enough trailer for a movie, and you decide its good enough and you end up watching the most boring movie ever. Its one of the most disappointing feelings ever. Thanks Mack for going in the fire for us, I could never handle this.
When I saw the horde forming pyramids, I thought, "Oh, man, it must feel so awesome to toss a grenade right in the middle and see the avalanche of bodies!" Then, I saw that grenades exploded with the bang of a small water balloon, and saw one or two zombies stagger over. That's a dealbreaker on its own, but worse yet, even the CHARACTERS sound disappointed and bored.

@@Sheepdog_Alpha yeah thats what i was thinking, given the fact that as soon as you turn on vulcan some stuttering starts to happen and the frame rate becomes kind of inconsistent i wouldnt be surprised if it comes with bug related to fps and animations and whatnot

You're right about the reviewers getting excited over all the hordes pouring in etc but then it becomes rinse and repeat. Bought it after watching a couple of reviews and quickly found out how shallow and scripted it was, getting a refund.

I feel like ppl are so critical of this game because they expect AAA quality or something. It’s not a AAA game. Not at all. But it does what it needs to do and (in my opinion at least) it does it very well. Also, how many levels did left 4 dead have on release? I don’t know tbh but I wouldn’t think there were many more than this. The reason ppl praise that game is likely mods. Strip it of mods and you likely get another generic zombie gAme

It's caused by the Vulkan setting. You can switch to dx11 and it won't freeze.
I’ve just recently picked up the game for free. Watching the review and after watching this game play the game haven’t change much. it is still the same game after almost a year just with more content. Still lack of players even though it is free😢 so much potential wasted

Lol doesn’t left 4 dead have a very similar formula? I can’t say for sure but based on what I’m hearing they’re pretty similar in that aspect. This seems like left 4 dead on a whole new level. The only reason I see left 4 dead get so much coverage is the mods. When you look at the base game, I can’t say for sure how it is but I feel like, in terms of the base game itself, this one may beat it in that aspect. But the moment this gets mods, I feel like it’ll blow left 4 dead away. Imagine, a bunch of teletubbies making a human pyramid to climb to kill you. That would be amazing.

As the movie did the book no justice, the only thing that this game has in common is the title. One of the major (if not THEE) points is to keep quiet or you risk attracting the horde. Also the blood... it gets all over the players/AI and apparently that doesn't really matter here. Seeing the big guy in the bomb suite only seemingly have 1 attack repeat got old within the 10 minutes I observed. Finally, I dislike the zombies disappearing so quickly I feel looses the immersion.

Having this in third person was the dumbest idea since the m700 nerf. You have to move your camera around so the horrible character models dont get in the way from the cool horde set pieces.

Playing online with 3 random companions or with 3 bots is definitely boring. I can imagine that playing with 3 actual friends with whom you can communicate on hard or very hard mode could be way more fun. Still, from what i see, this game is only average.

It gets pretty hard on insane, the zeds two hit you and you die instantly. Zeds get a slight health boost and throw more of them at you.
Are you playing on vulkan @worthabuy? I tried when i played with my friend he has an amd gpu i have an rtx 2060 he didnt have an issues but mine froze just like yours i had to switch to dx11 for it to go away.
He was freezing because of the bad server lag. Every time he froze for a second you can see the red connection bar show up at the top right. The game was also region locked at the time of his recording so that's why he didn't find games fast, they've since fixed that.

Hey Mack, hope you are well. Please have a look at Kenshi - its a bit like rimworld but 3rd with less of psychology and more of pure sandbox and RPG. Graphics, as you tend to say, look like pigsvomit but I think you'll love it knowing the kind of humor you're in to and you appreciate a brutal but rewarding game.

Game is okay if everything is scarce, and add more zombie variety like some believable zombies from Left 4 Dead.

I showed my friend your previous video and he said you can say the same thing about Vermintide 2 and Left 4 Dead. However, both those games have so much replayability and their fantastic. But, I would like to know how you or the community would define 'what makes them so good' in comparison with WWZ.
L4D adds that sense of panic. A boomer explodes on ur team then a hunter, smoker, charge, etc... Everyone cant see n ur being swarmed by zombies while ur trying to find ur downed friend. Levels where u have to race to the safe room while being swarmed by endless zombies till u get in the room. Insta kill spots being charge or pulled off. Spot that u will fall n hang on the ledge till someone comes a picks u up, but also puts u in danger while rescuing. Tank zombie in the middle of a horde with other specials attacking. Not being able to see where specials r, just hear them n know that they are lurking for the right moment to jump. Witchs that will down u in 1 hit. Night time lvls, are u afraid of the dark feeling. Intelligent AI specials does add alot of enjoyment.
L4D is alittle more of an arcade feeling game, it doesnt takes its self to seriously with the specials and run and gun
WWZ is alittle more grounded in reality based on the books n movie.
I have to admit i wish L4D had hordes like this, it would have made it alot more enjoyable. Not to say it wasnt, i have no clue how many hrs i played on xbox, but i played for probably a yr straight everynight with buddys for 4 or 5 hrs.
If they increase the specials IQ's in WWZ n took a few pointers from L4D on lvl design i would increase the replay ability. I think they over estimated the massive hordes to be able to add that sense of fear that L4D did with eveything i said above.

Yeah only issue i have with the game at the moment is not enough variety in the missions themselves and how many missions there are in general. If they support it with free post launch content that would be a good start well have to see though either way it was 30 bucks and the tech in the game is impressive for the hordes but yeah i agree left 4 dead is superior because of many things. Modding is the biggest obviously but it has a decent amount of levels to go through as well.
Why is it in Zombie games you can get bitten more than a slut with love bites and only lose a tiny bit of health. Why not a zombie game where you get 1 hit killed by zombies so every encounter with one would be terrifying and you can only save at safe houses that are spread far and few between an open world map?

YOU know how massive the scale of past greats videogames were. 64v64, Quake, WoW, CnC, GW1, Morrowind, L4D, StarSiege, Tribes, BF1942, MoHAA, MechWarrior, Elite... YOU HAVE TO become a developer. No matter how small the dev team you attract. Gamers make games. Videogames will die without us and new ideas. Minecraft was made by a gamer, and cloned spinoffs were the result. With the people that trust you, together, something small can be coded. You saw Anthem Mack! No direction for years! You can churn out the best small game in years, in 1 year possibly just by directing loyal programmers for 4-6 and it'll be foundational for what REAL games should be like after that. Hey, let me give another suggestion cause I can't keep ideas bottled up... make a space-themed Morrowind. Morrowind was huge with 13 factions: 3 houses, 3 vampire clans, 3 basic guilds(fighter, mage, thief), 1 secret assassin guild(morag tong), and 3 others... some with their unique sets of armour and faction relationship stats. House Telvanni hated every faction, but REALLY hostile towards the Mage's guild because Telvanni's are secluded wizards that horde magic artifacts in their giant-rooted, plant islands in the NW part of the map. The Mage's Guild was liberal with magic and shared it with everyone. Not the Telvannis. YOU had to water walk to find them, LEVITATE to their chambers in the plant buildings to ASK TO JOIN, and still needed a MAGIC-ONLY skillset to rank up! Multiple playthroughs/characters are necessary for anyone to thrive in Morrowind cause 13 factions made Morrowind so unbelievably alive. NOW PICTURE THAT but with a Solar System. Flying from planet to planet, joining a space war in 1st-person, and doing grounded missions. I know what I'm suggesting: 4-6 smaller Morrowind sized spherical planet-wide maps, no map-shrinking sprint ability, more npcs and questlines, and spaceport garages. It's NoMan'sSkies but with Morrowind RPG scaling. Doesn't that sound great? That sounds like do-able roadmap for a new game that MUST be made to bring hope back to us gamers. Only we can design something that marvelous. I trust you Mack, with directing that, NOT programming it, but you are essentially an ideal candidate to be a game's Project Lead one day. Check Halo 2's In the making video, you'll see how they DELETED their engine and still had a vision to make Halo 2 A HIT. Think your biggest problem is that this is a console developed game ported to pc and it feels wrong for you. Add on the matchmaking and epic store pulls the nails in the coffin.

Your reviews have always resonated with me. I believe we have similar taste, perhaps we differ in some areas, but overall I believe we have very similar thoughts around games, and thats why your reviews almost always hits right on. Sometimes I even buy the game before the review anyways. Just to rant on steam or reddit, saying the same things you do. But without a brittish accent, and not as funny.
Anyways, I just want you to know that there are lots of people that enjoy your reviews and benefits greatly from them.

There are two reviewers I follow specifically. You and one other. You didn't like the game, the other did. Two reviewers that typically have similar opinions on games, have very contrasting views on this one. I trust your perspectives because I'm confident that you guys will be honest in the games you review, whether it's good or bad. You've hated a couple games I love and vice versa, but for the most part we have similar taste. The important part is, we need to simply take the info trusted reviewers give us, and decide what we do with it. In this case, I'll be staying away from this game. Thanks for always keeping it real in your vids regardless of backlash or people whining about their fav games being criticized. And thanks for saying me ~$35 or so on this.
